Review #1,967: 504 Boyz "Goodfellas"

Reviewed on 6.01.2021 (Review #1,967)

All right! I made it to my 4th review for today; let’s see if I can hit that 2,000 mark by tha 10th! Here’s my next review: 504 Boyz Goodfellas, released in 2000 on No Limit Records & Priority Records! This 504 Boyz lineup for their debut consisted of C-Murder, Krazy, Mac, Magic, Master P, Mystikal & Silkk The Shocker, b4 C got locked up. Start Tyme: 5:34 PM | End Tyme: 6:39 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Link To Release: N/A

01. Intro
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds interestin’ wit P’s son, here; he thinks “Krazy” = “Pac”. Also, I like his “ya heard me?” at tha end. My Rating: N/A

02. “Roll, Roll”
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Sounds like a grimy intro from P, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty poppin’ wit Ezell Swang doin’ tha production, here…! Lol, P sounds like such a grimy teddy bear with tha “roll, roll” shit; what a hook! Here comes tha 2nd verse wit Krazy = his Pac side, here; good, consistent shit…! Got tha 3rd verse from Mystikal, wildin’ out, non-stop; unstoppable on tha mic! Also, got Silkk comin’ through wit some semi-off flows ta end tha 3rd verse off; random/okay, at best. Lol @ tha train doin’ its thang on tha end, too…! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Big Toys” feat. D.I.G.
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Nice hook wit Krazy & his “toys,” here; gutta wit Los on tha beat…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it cool; just consistent rhymes, basically. Mac got tha Boyz on lock, all tha tyme! Pretty gutta wit Krazy on tha 2nd verse, strictly lettin’ it know what it iz, no matter what! Tha grind don’t stiggy-stiggy-stop! Recruitin’ D.I.G. fa tha feature of tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some soulja-type shit; good goin’, y’all! My Rating: 4.1

04. “Whodi” feat. Mr. Marcelo
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Diggin’ tha hook & gutta beat fa tha whodies; good shit, P! Got P on tha 1st verse, too, comin’ through wit how he viewed tha streetz in 2000; nice job. Tha 2nd verse keeps this shit goin’ with good shit; good job, as we continue…! Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse & it’s Mystikal, flippin’ out on tha mic! Luv how fast & aggressive he iz to where tha betta, tha faster I type! Tha 3rd verse ain’t bad, as this shit continues; can’t deny everythang bein’ brought to tha table. Silkk just luvs his random contributions, courtesy of his flow… Hearin’ tha 4th verse & C-Murder starts it off, continuously bein’ “blunted”; good shit, no matta when! An outro from Wild Wayne, as well; good energy, overall! My Rating: 4.1

05. “Wobble Wobble”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
Their only Top 40 hit & it has hit my review radar! Sounds good, of course; sounds like an older version or somethin’? Thought it seemed more hype on tha hook? Either way, glad this track had its tyme… Tha 1st verse was good ta hear, once again & P on tha 2nd verse makes this flow nicely fa err-body in every field. As far as tha rest of y’all, definitely nice; luv how Mystikal’s so aggressive, yet, this track was so mainstream! My Current Rating: 4.3

06. “Check ‘Em” feat. Traci a.k.a. Baby Girl
Producer: XL
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat with tha bounce sounds & special-soundin’ sound, too. P sounds catchy on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some good shit ta enjoy. Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good with this Traci chick on tha hook wit P; gotta “Check ‘Em”! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Traci & she sounds good on tha track, here; worked out nicely for a female feature… Also, nice chantin’ toward tha end, too; thumbs up. My Rating: 4.2

07. “Uptown” feat. Suga Bear
Producer: Carlos Stephens, Penitentiary & Suga Bear
>>> A singin’ hook/beginning from Suga Bear, here…; not too sure if I can feel it. Tha beat ain’t too bad but three producers needed for a good/decent beat? Anyway, hearin’ tha 1st verse from P & it’s facts for tha streetz, here; good job. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s soundin’ good, as facts are continuin’ to be spit fa tha 504 Boyz. Tha 3rd verse sounds good ta hear, too, as it’s nice & laidback on this upbeat beat; nice, y’all. My Rating: 3.7

08. “I Can Tell” feat. Mercedes & Jabo
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds like it gon be a cheesy track; ugh, this hook! I recognize this hook & how it’s been used multiple tymes; yuck @ tha singin’! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight… As far as tha rest of this, it’s pretty much a turn-off fa me; not diggin’ tha rest. My Rating: 2.1

09. Commercial I
>>> Sounds good; No Limit souljaz in tha buildin’…! My Rating: N/A

10. “If You Real, Keep It Real”
Producer: Carlos Stephens & Myke Diesel
>>> Anotha track wit female singin’ on tha hook; this tyme, it’s background vocals. Hearin’ tha hook from P & it’s just preachin’ about “real” & “fake”; all right, I guess? Hearin’ tha 1st verse from P & it sounds soft fa these fakerz… “You ain’t no soulja, boi; go take dat tatt off yo stomach”; deep. More anti-fake shit fa tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ like an okay set of preachin’, for tha flow. Hearin’ what’s after tha 2nd verse & it sounds like an outro, already? Like, why such a loooooooong outro?? Like, 2:49 for an outro?? My Rating: 2.4

11. “Beefing”
Producer: Penitentiary & Suga Bear
>>> Sounds like a sunset-type of settin’ for tha beat style, here, mixed with some gangsta vibes; good, laidbackness… Hearin’ tha hook & it ain’t bad; sounds a lil’ too soft fa a “Beefing” title? Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; like I said, too laidback for a “Beefing” title… Damn, anotha long outro? Maybe not; at least a 2nd verse iz here & it ain’t bad; just a decent contribution, once again… My Rating: 3.5

½tyme: Tha 1st ¼ started off pretty dope & then, tha 2nd ¼ sounded like it was goin’ downhill with tha R&B, laidback & long parts… Either way, for tha ½tyme rating, we have a 3.6 for tha rating; we can do betta…!

12. “We Bust” feat. Ghetto Commission
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds nice & aggressive, as we’ve moved away from tha laidback vibes…! Great job with tha 1st verse & what’s bein’ contributed, here; all about tha street “war”! Tha hook sounds nice ta hear; gotta “bust” dat street content out…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it decent; nothin’ much ta say, here… My Rating: 3.6

13. “Thug Girl II”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> I like how tha chicks are chantin’, “Ova here, whodie!,” to P on tha intro, here; good shit, hook & beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & P wildin’ out, here; good vibes, as this shit continues…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & shit sounds a lil’ off with tha flow; I guess it just inserts itself into tha track, right? Good-ole Krazy comes through on tha 3rd verse with his gutta-soundin’ contributions; can’t deny him… My Rating: 4.2

14. “Life Is Serious” feat. Erica Fox
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Not too sure if I’ll feel anotha hook with a female singer; we’ll see, as this laidback one plays on by… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Krazy & it ain’t bad, here; storytellin’ ain’t bad for this verse… Got P on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some decent shit; at least he’s got a betta voice, no matter tha flow. Got a 3rd verse, here & it ain’t bad; I feel like, if it’s not C, P, Magic, Mystikal or Krazy, it’s more on tha decent/below-average level. As far as this 3rd verse, it just went on by fa me, basically. My Rating: 2.8

15. “Them Boyz” feat. X-Con
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Nice lil’ anthemic beat from Ke’noe, here; good shit! P on tha hook, here, comin’ through wit some warnings to “watch dem boyz!” Gotta dig it! Hearin’ P on tha 1st verse, as well, comin’ through wit da bidness; you know what it iz… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some decent rhymes; I feel like they flow right into tha track, here. With tha 3rd verse, it sounds nice; nice & deep voice ta add to tha vibe, here. My Rating: 3.8

16. “Moving Things” feat. Samm & Erica Fox
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Lol @ P “workin’ graveyard,” on tha intro; I feel like he works past tha “graveyard,” since he has done so much… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty laidback/soft, here, especially wit these ladies vocalizin’ on tha hook; not sure how much I feel it. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad from P, here; I feel like it gon drag, tho… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s a lil’ boring; too slow of a track to keep my attention… Damn, not a 90-second outro…! This “muthafuckin’ ATM” bullshit; ugh! Also, that callin’ off/no-showin’ bullshit P bein’ accused of, at tha end; rough, especially in a song… My Rating: 2.3

17. Commercial II
>>> That moment when tha commercial has a more-upbeat beat than some of tha tracks on here, smh… Nice lil’ commercial; glad P always put that No Limit out there as often as possible! Also, lol @ tha endin’ with tha “in ya No Limit gear” as a hook/chant; only P! My Rating: N/A

18. “D-Game” feat. Terrar a.k.a. Pusha T & Pharrell
Producer: The Neptunes
Full-On Neptunes, here… >>> Diggin’ how Pharrell sounds on tha hook, here; definitely those old dayz of The Neptunes, here. Also, Pusha T/Terrar on tha 1st verse, here, b4 I knew Clipse… He sounds like he blends in nicely, here; that true Clipse/Neptunes sound, like it was 2002, again! Only now, it’s 2-Triple-0! Supa-catchy fa a non-Louisiana collab! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & I’m feelin’ tha upbeat aggression; tha Boyz on top! My Rating: 4.4

19. “Enemies” feat. X-Con
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> When I hear tha 504 peeps say, “Enemies,” it seems like I’m ready fa dat Pac voice or somethin’. With this one, it sounds nice with tha hook, beat & what’s goin’ on; just anotha millennial vibe, basically. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s bouncin’ its way through, soundin’ nice; nice job, 504 Boyz…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like tha bouncin’ vibe continues! When I say, “Bouncin’,” I don’t necessarily mean bounce music; I just talk about how tha beat can make you bobMy Rating: 4.0

20. “Souljas” feat. Snoop Dogg & RBX
Producer: Carlos Stephens & Fred Rec
>>> A focused beginning, here…; hearin’ tha Irish pipes in tha beat & I’m thinkin’, “More like a skit?” Hearin’ Snoop on tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad fa his contribution, here; a lil’ laidback on tha flow but it’s still str8. Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty grimy with tha voice applied by Krazy; souljatastic! Got P on tha 2nd verse, here…; glad he know what it be with that hood shit…! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Krazy on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit dat heat; nice job, as alwayz…! My Rating: 3.9

21. “No Limit”
Producer: Suga Bear
>>> Kinda sounds cheesy with tha male singin’ on tha hook, here…; still, I’m glad it’s a “No Limit” representation of a “soulja.” Hearin’ Magic on tha 1st verse & he sounds good; thought he’d be more aggressive, tho. Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, as Magic continues to deliver decent/good shit; not bad, as he continues to bring it… My Rating: 3.4

22. “Say Brah”
Producer: XL
>>> Tha “Free Soulja Slim” tymes; crazy that those tymes were a tyme, back then! Hearin’ tha beat & it sounds like it’s ready ta deliver an anthem? Hearin’ tha hook & it cool; I like “brah” spelled “B-R-U-H” betta than “B-R-A-H”, since “brah” looks like a bra. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; I thought tha hook was a lil’ catchier but it still str8… Oh boy, P had ta contribute, as always…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from him & it str8; he can’t be touched, when it comes to everythang bein’ put out durin’ these tymes…! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Looks like this turned out ta be just a decent release; didn’t really get too-too excitin’ but was definitely nice fa tha anthems that were on here. I’m sure their follow-up in 2002’s betta than this but I’ll see, wheneva I get to that point.
