Review #1,981: C-Loc "It's A Gamble"

Reviewed on 6.04.2021 (Review #1,981)

Slowly reachin’ my goal of my 2,000th review; I got less than 20 left! Here goes my 1st review for today: C-Loc It’s A Gamble, released in 2000 on C-Loc Records! Start Tyme: 6:15 AM | End Tyme: 6:58 AM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Link To Release: N/A

01. On The Wire
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Likin’ tha old-school phone on tha intro, here, strictly from “the wire”! Likin’ tha “Lucky Kentucky” cover-up of if tha phone was tapped; interestin’ lingo, Big Loc! My Rating: N/A

02. “Don’t Start Nothin’” feat. Three 6 Mafia
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Likin’ how DJ Paul iz on tha intro, here, fa you, Loc; nice intro & beat, from B.R. to Memphis! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & lol, you said it tha reversed way I said it: “From Memphis to Baton Rouge”; of course, I put tha Rouge 1st, since it was 1st on my mind…! Anyway, diggin’ tha screamin’ in tha background of tha beat & also, you doin’ a nice job on tha 1st verse; props fa dat street-meets-club shit! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s dope; your simple “don’t start no shit, it won’t be no shit” shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s DJ Paul from Three 6 Mafia, comin’ through in a nice way fa you, Loc; big bucks! Got tha 3rd verse, here, from an uncredited Max Minelli; props fa him comin’ through with his “Lay-Lo”-ass…! Got a 4th verse, here & of course, Juicy J had ta appear! Sounds great with how he continuously spits tha rhymes; definitely nice & unstoppable, here! My Rating: 4.3

03. “My Thug There” feat. Lil’ Boosie
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Luv how Boosie sounds nice & loaded with this southern slang/dialect, courtesy of tha intro…! Also, him bein’ just a 17-year-old…! Hearin’ tha hook & Boosie blendin’ into tha 1st verse, just comin’ through with good shit fa tha streetz, as well as tha catchy shit with tha title part frequently appearin’; huh bruh…! Hearin’ what you got on tha 2nd verse & it’s soundin’ nice, Big Loc; tha south iz your “thug there”! Lmao, anotha uncredited Max Minelli, here? He instantly on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through with tha consistent heat for tha streetz; keep on reppin’, no matter if you’re feelin’ uncredited! Endin’ with a 4th verse from you, Loc, comin’ through wit mo shit fa tha thugz, here; good shit…! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Till The Game Change” feat. Max Minelli
Producer: Happy P
>>> Sounds like a cool beat; I digz it… Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 1st verse & it sounds good; you just reppin’ you, basically… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good; gotta express tha current state of tha “game” & its “change”! Keepin’ this goin’ with a credited Max on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through with a non-stop hustle; good shit! Gotta ward off those “enemies,” too! Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 3rd verse, Loc & it’s continuously official for tha “game,” here; nice job…! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Pussy-Ass Niggaz” feat. Lil’ Boosie & J-Von
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Ah ha! Here’s where this beat came from, originally! Luv how I heard it from some random white dude rappers, back in ’07/’08! It’s like, to those white boyz, why use a beat seven years-old? Anyway, definitely dope, just like when I first heard it! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty dark/dope; good shit, Loc! Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 1st verse & it sounds good wit what you got, here; luv tha life of a big, grimy rapper from B.R.! Also, Boosie on tha 1st verse—2nd part—comin’ through with dope-soundin’ shit fa tha undaground, at tha tyme; his presence iz awesome fa this southern shit! Oh shit, an uncredited rapper on tha 3rd verse, here? My guess would be J-Von, since Max wasn’t credited, lol? It’s a good verse but there’s no credit displayed on Discogs about who it may be, exactly… *Checks deeper…* Yup, my irony matched & it was J-Von! My Rating: 4.5

06. “Can I Trust” feat. Concentration Camp
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Tha beat’s a lil’ softer & more for, like, a Caribbean getaway? Hearin’ Max on tha 1st verse & it sounds dope with his lyrics; I’m just not too crazy about this beat, tho. Hearin’ tha hook Max bringin’ to tha table, here & it’s str8; can’t say much about it but props on tha grind. Hearin’ Boosie come through from tha Camp fa tha 2nd verse, here & he sounds dope; gotta luv him! I swear, he must luv “2002” or somethin’; he always mentions it! Just luv his young leadership role, here; good goin’, Boosie! Now, got Loc on a lil’ interlude, here; will there be a Loc verse? Of course; here you come on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through, scannin’ them P.A.N.z; good goin’… Great job with tha verse; you know what it iz with this street shizzit…! My Rating: 3.8

07. “Nice Action” feat. Lil’ Boosie
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Almost wasn’t sure how I’d appreciate this beat, as it reminds me of tha last one I just heard… However, aside from what I feel iz a random vocal sound, I’m diggin’ this darker side of tha beat; good shit, Loc! Hearin’ Boosie on tha 1st verse & it’s dope ta hear how he spits this 225 shit on your beats! Diggin’ how you comin’ through on tha hook, here, representin’ tha “Nice Action” of rappers from tha Camp; huh bruh…! Keepin’ this movin’ with you on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some mo shit fa da hood; gotta respect it…! Keepin’ this thang movin’ with tha 3rd verse from you, here, comin’ through with an okay verse with what you spittin’, here… My Rating: 4.1

½tyme: You know you come through with tha heat, Loc; props fa tha great job, as alwayz! Glad you providin’ a lotta effort on this release, such as all tha production & how you come through on tha mic. Currently, this release iz at a 4.2 for tha average rating; keep it goin’!

08. “Don’t Get Caught” feat. Concentration Camp
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Luvin’ tha undaground-soundin’ beat start, here; just sounds nice & 2000, basically—I should say, “2000’s”, since it reminds me of your productions from tha 2000’s! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds dope with how you come through, expressin’ those with risky ventures for tha streetz; huh bruh…! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s simple but so dope (“Don’t Get Caught…”); goes with tha beat nice & well…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from you & it sounds great ta hear, as well; keep tha grind up…! Keepin’ this thang goin’ with a gutta 3rd verse, here; S/O ta J-Von & tha Camp! My Rating: 4.2

09. “Collect Call”
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Tha slow beat kinda throws me off, here; like, why tha old sample or whateva? Good lil’ “call” in tha intro & tha 1st verse sounds okay with this uncredited female… Tha hook iz odd; a mixed “this call iz from an inmate at a correctional facility” voice. Continuin’ on, hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 2nd verse & you sound catchier with tha flow than tha female. Still, not really crazy about this slow jam & crowd-cheerin’ shit… My Rating: 2.7

10. “Thug On”
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha intro & beat, here, soundin’ nice ta hear… Hearin’ what you got on tha 1st verse & it’s a decent flow with good facts; keep it movin’… Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha hook, here & it catchy; you know what it iz… Keepin’ this movin’ with tha 2nd verse & it sounds good, as you doin’ this fa those “in tha safari” & shit; nice job. Keepin’ it goin’ with a 3rd verse from you, here, soundin’ str8; glad you continuously stay focused! My Rating: 3.7

11. “Loc Shot The Sheriff” feat. South Park Mexican
Producer: Happy P
>>> Sounds like a good beat from P, this tyme round… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds good, as you don’t stop with what you doin’… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s aight, as you remakin’ tha “I Shot The Sheriff” shit, even tho you don’t replace “I” with “Loc”, in tha hook… Hearin’ what tha Mexican has ta offer on tha 2nd verse & he aight; I’ono if he fits too well with your tracks, tho. Prolly would fit more on a solo venture, with Happy Perez on tha beats. Anyway, sounds like you’re on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through with tha grind, basically; good shit… My Rating: 3.7

12. “Tear It Down” feat. Concentration Camp
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Beat ain’t bad for tha hood of Baton Rouge, here…; hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it’s good with how you comin’ through wit it… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good with you & Max; props fa havin’ added energy with tha title part! Keepin’ it movin’ with Max on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with tha consistency; good shit, as alwayz! Got a youngin on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through with good shit fa tha hood; gotta respect it! Glad you supported these then-youngins, Loc! My Rating: 4.0

13. “Come Get Some” feat. Concentration Camp
Producer: C-Loc
>>> Nice lil’ intro from Max Minelli, here, as well as tha eerie sound of tha beat from you, Loc…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Max Minelli & it sounds good, of course; “Girbaud’d & tee’d up”! Good shit, Max; I ironically mention both but in reverse, on one of my new cuts, “‘80s Babies In Our 30’s”: “Tha big tees, Girbauds all hangin’ out wit da crease.” Continuin’ on, hearin’ you on tha hook, Loc & it sounds catchy with how you ride tha beat; good shit! Keepin’ this movin’ with tha 2nd verse from Max & it sounds good, once again; life of a “G”, basically! Of course, endin’ this track with a Boosie verse! Hearin’ Boosie on tha 3rd verse & it sounds cool ta hear him do his thang; keep on reppin’! Luv how he ends tha verse & track with “what? What? What?” My Rating: 4.2
