Review #1,993: Gotti Click "Mob Life, Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 6.07.2021 (Review #1,993)

Seems like my goal to my 2,000th review’s so close but so far away… On to my 1,993th review, as I get closer: Gotti Click Mob Life, Vol. 1, released in 2000 on Gotti Records, entirely produced by Cool D! Start Tyme: 11:01 AM | End Tyme: 11:29 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Down Bad With The Click”
>>> Beat sounds kinda dry, here… Hearin’ tha rappin’ & it sounds good fa tha streetz; good shit… Just gotta point somethin’ out, tho: Tha shorter song on this release iz 3:47? That means, a bunch of long tracks are on here; don’t be surprised if I make this quicker than usual… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good; tha horns on tha hook make it try to sound like an anthem. However, it sounds a lil’ dry? Tha rest of tha dudes on this sound good with their contributions; not bad, overall… My Rating: 3.7

02. “You Know Who I Am” feat. Spyda
>>> Feelin’ tha energy & excitement bein’ brought to tha beat & rappin’, here; glad there’s more energy than tha last song on here! Hearin’ tha rappin’ & it’s soundin’ good; tha hook sounds catchy, especially with this beat. It’s all about holdin’ it down for tha streetz at all tyme, ya feel me? My Rating: 4.2

03. “Tales From The Swamp”
>>> Beat sounds nice with tha bass, despite tha beat kinda soundin’ quiet & plain… Hearin’ what y’all got goin’ on with tha rappin’ & it sounds good, except tha fact that it’s 5:49 on tha length. Seems like a lotta this shit drags but it’s still nice ta hear tha N’awlinz hood life… My Rating: 3.2

04. “Last Days” feat. C-Dog
>>> Again, tha bass cool but this beat’s more on tha quiet, plain side… Hearin’ what y’all got & it’s str8; props fa this continuous content fa tha streetz, once again… My Rating: 3.0

05. “Game So Cold”
>>> Sounds like an okay hook & anotha similar beat, here… Tha rhymes only aight, here; doesn’t seem like anythang standin’ out, in a catchy way… Once again, it just seems too long… My Rating: 2.6

06. “Our Side”
>>> I still feel tha same with tha beat fa this one, just like tha other beats…; hearin’ tha rappin’ & it aight/cool fa tha streetz. It seems like my feedback gon be almost tha same fa each joint that passes on this release; what else can I say? My Rating: 2.8

07. “Twerkers & Jerkers”
>>> A lil’ more excitement with tha energetic beat, as well as a catchy lil’ hook fa tha “twerkers,” as well as tha “jerkers”! Tha rhymes sound catchy ta deliver on this type of track but it bein’ 6:13’s a lil’ too long fa me ta stay focused. My Rating: 3.8

½tyme: Only a 3.3 for tha average rating, atm; seems like too long of jointz, as well as beats soundin’ too plain & similar to each other.

08. “Mob Life”
>>> Back to those plain-soundin’ beats…; hearin’ tha rappin’ & it ain’t bad, as this long track progresses… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds like a catchy dose of numerical situations? Good lil’ hook, at least… My Rating: 3.3

09. “We On Top” feat. Cool D
>>> Beat on tha dry side, once again…; hearin’ tha rappin’ & it str8, as I continue to keep my feedback like tha beat: dry. Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds okay; a lil’ bit of catchiness but for tha most part, just a regular-soundin’ hook. My Rating: 3.1

10. “Ghetto Survivor”
>>> Too slow for a start & 6:39 on tha length gon be “rough” fa me ta handle… Too sappy with tha depressed-soundin’ lyrics/flow; also, tha chick on tha hook singin’ ain’t fa me, neither. My Rating: 1.1

11. “‘Bout To Get Dirty”
>>> Anotha dry beat; anotha decent-soundin’ hook fa tha southern streetz, too. Feelin’ how y’all comin’ through on tha verses, at least; I feel an increase in flow ability & shit. My Rating: 3.4

12. “Sugar Foot” feat. Mr. Low
>>> Nothin’ ta really say about this beat; let’s see how tha rhymes go… Sounds like some undaground N’awlinz shit on tha rhymes/flow; I’ll give y’all some props. Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds like a desperate voice vs. an orgasm? “Sugar fOOOOOOOOOt!”??? Should I consider it a lil’ humorous? My Rating: 2.9

13. “Last Letter To My Road Dog”
>>> Nothin’ ta say about tha beat; sounds like it gon be a depressin’ song, again? Yeah, just like tha previous song’s vibe, only with no humor; not really into depressed tracks… My Rating: 1.4

14. “Fallen Soljahs”
>>> Slight improvement with tha hi-hats in this beat but too long with 5:52 on tha length… Seems like continuous rhymes; can’t catch on to ‘em… Like, tha hook starts at 2:16 & tha vocals take about eight seconds to come in! Also, remakin’ tha same track that “Ghetto Supastar” remade? Yuck; “from one soljah to anotha; uh huh…” I mean, nice dedication, includin’ that it’s tha final track on this release, but not my cup of tea. My Rating: 2.2

Overall: Seemed too long of tracks & almost every beat was plain/sounded similar for tha streetz—quiet streetz?
