Review #1,433: King Sav "Pressure Makes Diamonds"

Reviewed on 2.11.2015 (Review #1,433)

Frankie here, ‘bout ta review King Sav Pressure Makes Diamonds, from Solo Mafia Enterprises. Now, I really shouldn’t be reviewin’ this right now ‘cause this wasn’t sent to me on time (like, really, 11 months old and I wasn’t given this?!), and I was randomly unfollowed, but because I’m a Shift Leader at my job, I’m goin’ to review it! Hell, I aint even know what tha name of this CD was; I had to go through Louisiana native, Tony Tumacs Facebook pics to figure it out; really? Now, for those of y’all that don’t know, King Sav = Sav Sinatra = Savage, from Baton Rouge. Sav & I go way back to 2008, back when my reviewz first caught his attention. We had been cool for a while, despite me not really havin’ any real-life experiences. Then, when my Louisiana connection started takin’ a turn for tha worse around 2013, I would come off all bitchy about how people weren’t treatin’ me right; Savage wasn’t havin’ my bitchin’. On March 14, 2014, I got tha call at 1:15 PM that I was gettin’ ready to be interviewed for a full-time job. I let Savage know, “I just got a full-time job! I’ll be workin’ all tha time, so you may not hear from me that much, let alone, let’s see how long it takes for me to start bitchin’ again!” With work on my mind, I rarely have any free time to do any hobbies, such as review, or whateva. And, I was startin’ to see true value of people, thanx to my job. Tha people at my job would find my number, get a hold of me and give me hours to help my pay. However, Louisiana people would never send me CDs when they’d come out, nor would they chip on for my mixtape compilations (a lousy $20 to get a spot on my Louisiana mixtapes that would be released every 90 dayz; I had to stop right when I got my job, due to people were lackin’ sendin’ me shit). Sav wound up fallin’ into this mess, as when this CD came out, I wasn’t even notified that it was out, nor was it even sent to me! It’s like, I guess I’m a fart in tha wind / such an acquaintance, despite me spendin’ hours and hours and years promotin’ Savage for a long minute, now?! Not only that, I randomly got unfollowed from Twitter & Instagram; what tha fuck did I do? Just ‘cause I work so much? Fuckin’ get over it! I can’t be havin’ someone who ain’t checkin’ shit I do for ‘em (outside of tha reviewz, such as videoz) all on my Instagram and shit. Not only that, I had a birthday shout out, a record label discover me, and more; I’d send it to Sav and he wouldn’t even acknowledge it; what tha fuck did I do?! I’ve grown up a whole lot since fuckin’ one year ago! It sux ‘cause, I guess bitchin’ Frankie’s better than grown-up Frankie? It sux that Sav ain’t payin’ attention to this new Frankie! But, oh well; Sav’s loss! So, now that a record label’s behind me, I can’t help Savage out? Like, they want me to write articles about new music, not shit that’s 11 months old like this that’s not even sent to me tha day it comes out (let alone, a fuckin’ week, to extend things)! Sux that you’re missing out… Once again, I shouldn’t even be reviewin’ this, especially that I have a continuous schedule that neva ends with working full-time, but because I’m a Shift Leader, I must still put in that dedication! So, here it goes, straight up my ass! Get ready for tha gritty review, Sav; I know you like ‘em!! Oh, and even though I like tha colors and all that on tha back cover, I’m not diggin’ tha money feature. Like, how many times do rappers gotta flash money in they pics? Anyway, all tracks are produced by you, with additional keys by AK LeDay on #15 & 16. Start Time: 6:43 PM | End Time: 7:32 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Smoke D Live From The Pen
>>> Nice beat in tha background and lil’ check-in, here… I gotta get in my I-love-Louisiana zone, once again; been a while… My Rating: N/A

02. “Pressure Makes Diamonds” feat. Tre Virdure
Don’t think I gon anticipate tha feature… >>> Sounds good for a start, between tha laidback back and you on tha 1st verse… Hearin’ that you had it tough wit “last year,” as well (2013, since this was 2014?)? I had tha same thing; B-Real’s lack of treatin’ me important made me really hate myself… Tha 1st verse, or should I say tha only verse, was okay, and tha lil’ part from Tre was decent, as well; exactly what I expected, though a lil’ better… My Rating: 3.7

03. “Play It How It Go (Remix)” feat. Lil’ Boosie, Lil’ Phat & Lee Bank$
Not anticipatin’ tha feature, though I know it gon be good… Also, I’m thinkin’, “Lil’ Boosie?” Then again, I forgot, I’m never sent music on time, knowin’ that he already changed his name to “Boosie Badazz” by now and that this shit’s old as fuck! >>> Tha shit I like, here, as far as tha tempo and sounds… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it sounds great, still! Too bad this kinda shit’ll neva be on my iPod, anymore, prolly, due to tha uncalled-for unfollowin’, without permission! Tha hook still soundin’ good; remember it from a while ago, surprisingly… Boring Boosie on tha 2nd verse, here… As always, great energy, rhymes & always keepin’ it street… Phat on tha 3rd verse, here, almost here for attention (due to he not alive, anymore)… Don’t really agree that tha dead should be resurrected; they should just R.I.P., with a bold “P,” like, peace! Good verse, regardless—½-verse… Here’s Banks on tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse…; nice, consistent rhymes, and he literally predicted how you’d turn out, Sav: “No retweets;” yeah, you don’t retweet or respond, anymore! It’s too bad… My Rating: 4.3

04. “I’mna Mane” feat. Racked-Up Ready
>>> Hearin’ you on tha intro / hook and it sounds like it’s almost ghostwritten as a Ready track; nice beat and hook. I’m likin’ tha “Imna,” as you always tend to make up combo words (e.g., “pussazz”). For those readin’, “I’mna” = I’m + tha… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it sounds good to hear… Here’s Ready on tha 2nd verse and smh, on his birthday, I found out he unfollowed me from Twitter, too; talk about a total, “Fuck you?” Anotha reason why I’m glad to have fallen off! Wasn’t meant for this shit at all! Anyway, it’s blah, blah, blah, here, so it’s whateva, though it sounds nice on a Savage track; I’ll leave it at that… And, a 3rd verse from Sav, soundin’ good, as well… My Rating: 4.2

05. “Money Whipped”
Ewe, lol, lol, lol, lol; no comment! I’m just gonna copy/paste my review from my 16th mixtape compilation that I featured this one, right before my mixtape compilations went bankrupt and I had to let ‘em go! Oh yeah, also, this was back when I was addin’ underground, Louisiana rap to my playlists; holy, TBT, even though it’s Wednesday? Gotta blame B-Real for blocking me on February 5, 2014; I haven’t added one Louisiana song from tha undaground since he blocked me! Not one fuckin’ person got him to unblock me, and my Louisiana passion’s basically destroyed because of it! It really sux for y’all ‘cause I fuck wit all these hot chicks from my job, and not one Louisiana song from tha undaground’s been on my playlist! Only thang they’ll get outta me iz Kevin Gates, especially since Gates’ tha reason why a label’s behind me. I now have a full-time job because of B-Real blocking me, too, seein’ tha true value of people, as well, who aren’t fuckin’ afraid of relyin’ a fuckin’ message to someone! It’s like, these fuckin’ rappers carry guns and are quick to shoot / run they mouth, but when it’s relyin’ a message to B-Real about reconnectin’ and unblockin’ me, they afraid; total fakeness? SMH! Anyway, that review: Samples SWV’s “Weak” on tha hook… Sav can pull this off and it sounds good. Nice slow/semi-upbeat vibe for tha ladies! My Current Rating: 4.0

06. “Po Up My Drank” feat. Lil’ Keke
I bet this one gon be great, as well, but just like tha way I’m completely degraded, this gon go in one ear and out tha other, on this review! It’s like it’s for this review only! >>> Sounds g…o…o…d… Might’ve heard it before? Don’t think so ‘cause I’ve neva seen this collaboration happen, before? I don’t remember, but I’m diggin’ tha po’in’ and tha hook! Tha 1st verse sounds nice ta hear; all good to get fucked up! Closest I’ve gotten to pure fuckedness was just a month ago, when I tried a weed cookie; talk about buggin’ out in my sleep! I had to do 360’s with my head, every minute during tha 2 AM hour! Crazy! Now, I can see what y’all be like, even though y’all shit makes y’all more relaxed… Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too, strictly gettin’ fucked up… Hearin’ Keke on tha 3rd verse, here, and it sounds good… A lil’ short, but it was nice to have him on tha feature… Hearin’ tha screwed-kinda outro hook, here… Sounds nice, and iz similar to Propain & Rich Homie Quan’s “2 Rounds,” which was released right around tha same time… My Rating: 4.3

07. “Mobb Life Crazy”
>>> Even though I’m not big about voice effects, I do like how this beat sounds, as well as how you sound on tha hook! Tha 1st verse sounds good; surprisingly, this iz my best listen for this CD, so far… I know, tha most awkward happens… Tha 2nd verse sounds good ta hear, too; nice lil’ jam, once again! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice to hear, too! Keep it goin’! My Rating: 4.5

08. Interlude
>>> Why this dude bein’ secret about bein’ “in prison?” Nice lil’ “interlude.” My Rating: N/A

½time: Sounds pretty good, so far; diggin’ tha jamz… Currently, a 4.2 for tha CD rating.

09. “A Better Plan”
“A” contradicting title? If you had “a better plan,” you wouldn’t’ve unfollowed me from Twitter & Instagram outta nowhere, as well as ignore me, too! Don’t you know that shit’s called a no call, no show and it gets you FIRED!!! >>> I’m diggin’ tha beat, once again; hook sounds good, though you need to “come up with a better plan,” yourself, Sav! No need for us to be ignoring each other! Boosie outta jail; don’t let that be tha fall! Nice 1st verse, but will you follow your own notes fa 2015? Off to a bad start, as far as showin’ me luv, so maybe, this review’ll be a wake-up call fa you! Thought this would have multiple verses in it, but it’s basically a straight-through, single verse. Either way, tha beat made things sound betta than I thought they would… My Rating: 3.8

10. Conjugal Visit Interlude
>>> Sounds good ta hear this intermission, once again—oh wait, neva mind, scratch out tha “countin’ bread” shit; boring! My Rating: N/A

11. “Pimpin’ Baby”
>>> Sounds nice for a laidback vibe, with tha beat… Tha 1st verse sounds good, too… Hearin’ tha hook and your singin’ sounds nice for this laidback, southern vibe… Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too, flowin’ nicely on tha beat… Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, too; a nice track, overall, with this laidbackness… My Rating: 4.0

12. “Comin’ Down” feat. Cory Mo
>>> Diggin’ tha laidbackness, once again, includin’ how you sound slower on tha flow than on tha previous song… This sounds a lil’ betta fa me; diggin’ how you singin’ this hook, too. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and there’s quite a bit of places you shoutin’ out, here… It’s like, when you makin’ it up to where I’m at? Eight years had passed since my Louisiana connection started; what’s takin’ err-body so long? Hearin’ Cory Mo on tha 2nd verse and it’s only aight fa me; liked tha Keke feature better. Not to mention, he was braggin’ about “countin’ money” or somethin’; that’s baggage for tha rap game! When will it end? Anyway, on to tha 3rd verse, here, with you “comin’ down” a lot, Sav; nice to hear… My Rating: 4.1

13. “I Want A Range” feat. Kevin Gates, Percy Keith & Spitta
I knew this was comin’… Asked you in 2013, “Do you got Percy Keith’s #?,” and you were like, “Nah.” Now, a collaboration; that was pretty quick! Only took a few months? Bet you got tha number now, but you done changed; you prolly would ignore me if I asked you for it! It’s like, this iz why tha music business ain’t meant fa me. While I’m at work, I don’t have to go through a fuckin’ wild goose chase to get a co-worker’s #; it’s available for me. This shit with B-Real not havin’ a number available’s tha most unprofessional thing ever!! And, goin’ back to thinkin’ you wouldn’t give me Percy Keith’s #, it’s like, it goes to show you how degraded, shitty, and uncalled-for I am, in this music business. I’m just an annoying piece of shit! I just luv bein’ degraded, non-stop! Meanwhile, I spent years and years promotin’ all y’all when I could’ve been workin’, makin’ money, like y’all do! Glad I do that now! Anyway, anticipatin’ feature, but I can bet you anything, hearin’ this gon be like a diabetic’s sugar level goin’ to 1,400! It gon be a guilty pleasure, and after this review, I gon forget what I just listened to! You know what that means: Time ta smoke wit my 47-year-old chick I work with, instead! >>> Sounds nice with tha instant start and Gates on tha intro. How you still get in touch wit Gates? I thought he blew up and with all these cocky-ass peeps changin’ their numbers, how come he ain’t play phone games witchu? No wonder why I don’t belong in this business! You’re on tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty good to hear. A lil’ less-aggressive on tha delivery than Gates, but it still sounds nice… LOL, I feel like it’s 2009 or somethin’ when I hear this, when I used to suck every Louisiana rapper’s dick (not literally) by tryna support them, and I faiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiled terribly!! What a waste of time, and I have a lotta old reviewz ta do, when I can! Here’s Percy Keith on tha 2nd verse and almost sounds like a Wayne / Young Money-type person, here… Nice to hear, but let’s just leave it at that! Dude don’t know how to respond on Twitter, and he unfollows! WTF wit all tha fake-ass unfollowin’?! Like, too bad I grind! Ugh, felt like I just chowed down 50 pounds of granulated sugar and died of complications from diabeties, lol!! Spitta on tha 3rd verse, here… Kinda on an okay level, but all tha cocky braggin’ about “money” and how others ain’t gettin’ it in right’s a turn-off fa me… Wrappin’ tha review fa this joint up, and I feel like this more on a mainstream-produced level fa tha streetz than a Baton Rouge-soundin’ level, so it ain’t gon get a spectacular rating from me… My Rating: 4.3

14. “That’s My Bitch”
That moment when your “bitch” iz more important than I’ll ever be, smh! >>> I’m really likin’ this production, here, and I’m diggin’ how you singin’ on tha hook; betta than I expected, here… Tha 1st verse sounds good, too; diggin’ how you comin’ through on tha track… Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty nice, too; diggin’ how you comin’ through on this verse, as well… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse, and it sounds nice on this beat, regardless of everything in value you try and spit about… My Rating: 4.2

15. “Life” feat. Max Minelli
>>> Definitely diggin’ tha organ sounds on tha beat; props ta your family member on those additional keys! Nice hook with your singin’; sounds risky to sing, but you can pull it off… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good to hear. Yeah, I’m sick of this “competition” err-body tryna pull off. Why can’t people just grind without bein’ cocky about tha next nigga? Hearin’ Max on tha 2nd verse and it sounds good to hear him collab witchu, once again; not cocky, here, and tha “before you take my nuts” line was pretty nice to hear. And, a 3rd verse, here…; this verse sounds good, too… My Rating: 4.1

16. “Long Way”
>>> Sounds like Goapele “Closer” during tha beat and sample—I’m right! Usually, your ending songs are depressing and boring for me, but this sounds much better for an ending song! Definitely diggin’ your singin’ on tha hook and tha way you flip tha sample / beat sounds real nice to hear! Tha 1st verse’s nice, too; props fa hangin’ in there…, kinda… Tha 2nd verse sounds good, too, with a bunch of rappin’, here… My Rating: 4.0

Overall: I thought this was anotha nice CD, though it sucks that it wasn’t sent to me, and I had to go find it, a year later… It’s like, what happened to tha dayz when The Movement: History In The Making came out? Like, you mailed me it in tha mail when it came out! Now, Louisiana’s so boring and stuck up; why? You know that when I drop my 2nd album, I’m mailin’ it to people! Anyway, keep grindin’, but grind to tha point where you put me as a priority! It gon go in one ear and out tha other if I’m not treated as important! Half of y’all wouldn’t be where y’all’d be if it wasn’t for me! I know you won’t check out this review, retweet it, and respond to it, but I needed to get a point across, since I’m a Shift Leader! You better appreciate this ‘cause these reviewz aren’t gettin’ put out there like they used to be! It’s all about tha value and appreciation of my work, not for it to go to waste!!
