Review #1,823: Village Duce Mafia "Critically Acclaimed"

Reviewed on 10.14.2019 (Review #1,823)

Comin’ up next in my marathon of reviewz iz Village Duce Mafia Critically Acclaimed, released in 1998 on Bottom Up Records & was produced by Happy Perez! Baton Rouge, we in da buildin’ wit dis one! Start Time: 1:48 PM | End Time: 2:38 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “V Boys”
>>> Sounds like a grimy, undaground-soundin’ beat, here; diggin’ it! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; consistent shit fa these 225 streetz! Hook sounds pretty nice; samplin’ Bon Jovi wit tha “wanted… dead or alive” shit, toward tha 2nd ½ of tha hook. I have ta admit, even tho Bon Jovi ain’t on my level, y’all did a nice job samplin’ his vibe…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and tha aggression sounds pretty nice, here; good shit! Mo aggression comin’ outta tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, here; keep it comin’, y’all! As there’s 1:11 remainin’ on tha track, we have a phone call; sounds good ta blend in… My Rating: 4.3

02. “Playboy Mix 2”
>>> Cool lil’ funky, laidback beat ta rap on, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s str8… Got tha hook goin’ on, here & it’s simple/repetitive; it str8… Got tha 2nd verse, here & it aight; nothin’ too special poppin’ off but it still cool… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it str8, as well; kinda long fa a chill track, tho? Only okay fa me & it’s 4:54… My Rating: 3.6

03. “Check Nuts”
>>> Beat’s a lil’ more street-like, as well as tha aggressive-soundin’ 1st verse; good shit! Tha hook sounds good; definitely diggin’ tha perspective of analyzin’ deez “nuts!” Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it cool; still diggin’ tha aggression… Almost sounded like a verse, toward tha very end? Nice lil’ quick contribution! My Rating: 4.0

04. “Critically Acclaimed”
>>> Beat’s nice & southern, fa tha undaground; good shit! Tha hook’s pretty nice, too; gotta be “CA!” Strictly-trapped inside tha 1st verse, here, as tha gritty rhymin’ iz dope ta hear…! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty nice, here; gotta dig it…! Sounds like a hidden-soundin’ southerner (part of tha group), on tha 3rd verse; good shit… My Rating: 4.1

05. “Rough, Rugged & Raw”
>>> Beat sounds good, here; hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s good, as well… Feelin’ tha energy y’all bringin’ to tha table, here; it’s all about tha energy! Tha hook’s pretty dope, here; gotta dig it! Like Skull Duggrey, it’s like, “Nigga, nigga, nigga;” great blendin’! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ great fa tha streetz, here; bouncin’ & gettin’ a mission completed…! Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here & tha energy’s pretty dope, wit tha flow; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

½time: A nice lil’ undaground, Baton Rouge-soundin’ rap CD, here; a 4.0-rated CD! How will tha next half do? Let’s see…

06. “Mr. Goverman”
>>> Anotha nicely-produced track fa tha undaground, as well as tha hook about tha “Goverman;” nice…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good wit tha aggression/energy; gotta have tha energy! Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & tha consistent rhymin’ sounds great ta hear, of course… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ like a good perspective ta succeed… “Positive ta positive!” Very “positive”-soundin’ 3rd verse! My Rating: 4.1

07. “Candyman”
>>> Tha aggression and dark/street-soundin’ beats continue wit “Candyman”, here! Tha 1st verse’s pretty dope; y’all got this shit on lock! Tha hook blends in nicely wit tha verses, here; couldn’t tell when it came at me! Wit that bein’ said, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear, here; tha aggression continues! It also continues wit tha 3rd verse, here; good shit! My Rating: 4.3

08. “Downsouth Thuggin’ It”
>>> Tha hook sounds nice, here, as well as tha dark-soundin’ southern beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ tha aggressive vibe, too; y’all got this on lock! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice; gotta feel it, just like tha otha verses! My Rating: 4.3

09. “All The Way Out”
>>> Sounds like a nice, southern-soundin’, slow, ‘90s vibe, on tha beat; diggin’ it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well… Got tha hook playin’, right nah & it cool; most of these tracks blend well together… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and just like I said, it blends in nicely with what’s goin’ on, throughout this CD… Tha remainin’ rhymes on this track sound nice ta hear, as well; good goin’… My Rating: 4.1

Consistent-ass, aggressive-ass rhymes comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, here; definitely diggin’ ‘em! My Rating: 4.2

11. “Dedication”
>>> Sounds like an okay/cool beat, as well as some all-ova-tha-place-aggression, here, wit tha flow… Oh, I’m luvin’ this hook!! “D-E-D-I-C-A-T-I-O-N,” throughout tha hook; luv tha spellin’!! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well; keep it up! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha final verse of tha CD, here (tha 3rd verse); sounds good wit this southern vibe…! My Rating: 4.4
