Review #1,829: Amir "Southern Propaganda"

Reviewed on 10.16.2019 (Review #1,829)

Keepin’ these reviewz goin’ with Alexandria’s Amir Southern Propaganda, released in 1999 on Devious Records! Start Time: 1:16 PM | End Time: 2:13 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Sounds like a hypnotizin’, zoned-out beat/intro, here; gotta luv it! Feelin’ tha hidden aggression in tha perspective, based off of how y’all puttin’ it down…! Tha lil’ rhyme toward tha end’s pretty dope; “lyrical, legendary!” My Rating: N/A

02. “$ Signs”
>>> Quiet beat start wit some hot-soundin’ keys… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like a preach/journal; good shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it aight; kinda calm but good advice fa tha “$!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds a lil’ betta wit tha flow, here; keep it goin’… My Rating: 3.8

03. “Parlay, Parlay”
>>> Sounds a lil’ cheesy wit this title; beat sounds basic, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha aggression’s here but tha flow sounds a lil’ confusin’. Like, it sounds like it can be hyped, angry but cheesy? Just sounds like it’s all ova tha place… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and…, ehh…, it aight, I guess? My Rating: 2.5

04. “Welcome To The Ghetto”
>>> A betta-soundin’ beat ta lay back to, durin’ these ‘90s… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds semi-good… I still feel like tha flow everywhere, at times… A female singin’ on tha hook, here; not bad… I feel what she’s singin’ about (“tha ghetto”)… Sounds like a randomly-soundin’ 2nd verse, as far as tha flow/energy; I’ll give it some props, I guess… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad; lol @ that voice/flow at tha end of tha verse! “Roam (roam)!” “Home (home)!” My Rating: 4.0

05. “Down To Ride”
>>> Beat sounds good, fa anotha laidback, G-Funk sound… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha aggression/energy’s up, once again…! Random rapid flowin’, as well; weird… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds like it’s a nice representation fa this “ride” y’all preach ‘bout… Tha 2nd verse’s pretty aggressive; diggin’ tha “swamp” part, toward tha end of tha verse… “Life iz like a Broadway play,” accordin’ to tha 3rd verse, here; nice rhymes, this time…! My Rating: 4.1

06. “Time Is Revealing”
>>> Anotha laidback beat, here; sounds good… Tha hook sounds catchy wit this deep, southern voice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all got this on lock, of course… Some rapid fire comin’ outta tha 2nd verse, here; sounds good… Rapid-soundin’ way of tellin’ tha life story of y’all, on tha 3rd verse; good shit… My Rating: 4.2

07. “Dirty South”
>>> Anotha good lil’ laidback beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it aight; can’t say much… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and, at least y’all got tha swishaz ta help y’all minds out… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it cool, as well; gotta keep it goin’…! Tha rest of what’s goin’ on wit tha rappin’ sounds good, as well; good job. My Rating: 4.0

½time: Kinda weird wit some of tha flows and aggression levels but for a 3.8-rated CD, I guess things are goin’ over well… Feelin’ tha southern beats and how y’all hold it down fa tha Alexand!

08. “Who Am I”
>>> Cool lil’ undaground, dark beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds okay; it’s cool, even with tha energetic flow… Tha hook sounds like somethin’ nice, as well; gotta tell ‘em “who” y’all are! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice… Got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ good; can’t say much… I like tha “workin’ wit tha P-O-U-N-D” part; good job…! My Rating: 4.1

09. “Days Of Our Lives”
>>> Beat sounds cool; sounds like a preachin’ intro… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha flow kinda dry/spoken-like…? Good street content, tho… Gotta admit it! “Gettin’ high off marijuana…;” fuckin’ right! Frfr! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s respected; I get it and it str8… “I’mma grip my dick, I’mma muthafuckin’ ‘G’;” gots to, on tha 2nd verse! Recyclin’ tha “Time Is Revealing” quote, ironically, toward tha end of tha 1st part of tha 2nd verse… Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse and I’m diggin’ tha “P-O-U-N-D” part, once again; good shit… Pretty nice/rapid rhymes, toward tha near-end of this track…! Good job wit this one, overall…! My Rating: 4.2

10. “Represent Your Side”
>>> Beat sounds pretty intense and fast, quietly, in tha background…! Sounds like tha typical bounce sample (“Triggaman”); cool shit! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ nice, too; great job wit tha reppin’, once again! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope; likin’ tha R&B male, as well as tha reppin’…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice wit what y’all got goin’ on, here! Consistent rhymes! Dude on tha 3rd verse loaded, as well as lovin’ to get loaded; great job!! My Rating: 4.5

11. “Mr. Player”
>>> Beat’s nice and laidback, once again; great, consistent production! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like this “player” wants such “pussy;” good shit… Tha hook sounds cool, includin’ anotha R&B voice in tha background! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty good; what an attitude! “You nothin’-ass bitch;” ouch! I agree! “Which one of these bitches gon pay tha fuckin’ way?” Exactly what I say (not exactly “bitches”) when I feel like who gon be there fa me when I generate more success? I’m already seein’ some of my so-called people I cared about turn fake on me. It’s crazy how tha world works! Nice @ tha R&B singer singin’, here! Almost sounds like a siren wit their constant singin’/vocalizin’…! My Rating: 4.3

12. “Habits”
>>> Good hook; “get high and bang Screw” sounds like a great plan! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ good; anotha laidback, gangsta-soundin’ beat…! “Nut exploded, all over her pretty brown skin;” lol, great way ta express it! Sounds like tha “Mr. Player” track I just heard… My Rating: 4.1

13. “Murder Me”
>>> Sounds like an anthemic, gangsta-soundin’ beat; can’t wait ta hear tha rhymes…! Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; too bad “tha weed got [you] trippin’!” Gotta think positive and let tha positivity outshine tha expected paranoia! Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds cool… Anotha nicely-collaborated singin’ hook from an R&B singer, too! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, here & it sounds good; let’s keep it goin’… Tha 3rd verse iz pretty dope, here! “An erection got you trapped in a yeast infection,” huh? What a way to rhyme those two words!! My Rating: 3.7

14. Outro
>>> Sounds like an interestin’ beat/keys bein’ played! Gotta luv it! My Rating: N/A

Overall: Turned out ta be a nice, southern-soundin’ CD fa tha Bootstate…! Great job wit tha beats, as well as some of tha stories that went on…
