Even
tho I worked, did a lotta travelin’ & was super-loaded yesterday, I have
some energy for some reviewz. This tha 1st time I’m hearin’ this
dude, after writer of my Mass Appeal Records magazine article, David Drake,
suggested him to me: NBA YoungBoy—outta
Baton Rouge, LA—Before I Go. Usually, I’d prefer underrated artists but with a
verified Instagram account of over 100,000 followers, I’ono if I’m reviewin’
underground music or wastin’ my time on mainstream music to where I won’t get
any feedback on my supportin’? Either way, lemme hear… Start Time: 4:08 PM | End
Time: 4:35 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0
– 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!
I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long
as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and
then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a
song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6
rating, I pretty much really love it,
as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I
hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type
before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything
after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening
to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your
vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’
topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

“Moral”
>>> I’m likin’ how this beat starts; let’s see how you do… I’m likin’ tha voice fa tha streetz, here; sounds great… Nice job with how you hold it down fa tha streetz on tha verse… Still, all Baton Rouge rappers I hear or discover have no or a little following. Where’d tha instant spark come from with you? Like, what started it? Random…? I’ono, I been in this Louisiana game fa nine years and err-body started from tha bottom-bottom… How corny from 2:20 – 2:24 with tha “muney;” hate “money” topics!! Still, nice start, here… I may’ve not’ve liked that line, but I like how you ended this with tha title and it bein’ about “tha money.” My Rating: 4.0

“So Long”
>>>
I like how this sounds fa tha beat and how you comin’ through on tha 1st
verse… Still, not my kinda rap with tha “gettin’ to tha money” bullshit, but I
still enjoy listenin’ to it… Tha hook sounds good; can’t deny it… If only you
had “all this money” back in tha gap, when I used to charge for commercials,
videos & all that shit. Too bad no1
back in tha day had tha “money” ‘cause I barely made anything off of it! I
think I made a lousy $3,000 since 2008, and I was ‘pose to know 1,000’s of
artists! What iz that, like, $3.00 a person, smh? Either way, nice rhymes; just
gotta get used to ya… My Rating: 3.8

“Kickin’ Shit”
>>>
Producer TNT, here… Tha vocal mumblin’ in tha beginning doesn’t get me
anticipated fa this… Hearin’ tha hook and tha beat ain’t too bad; just decent…
If you wouldn’t follow this mumble-rap movement, I’d prolly appreciate this a
lil’ more… Sounds a lil’ betta at tha 1:00 mark when tha beat hides in tha
background fa a few seconds… Okay rhymes; can’t really say anything… BTW, why does every song have somethin’ to do with bein’ “broke” or somethin’
about “money”? That’s not what I grew up on!! What’s with tha, like, 20 seconds
of silence at tha end? My Rating: 3.1

“GSG”
>>> Let’s see how many seconds you can go without mentionin’ anything about money… Aight, forget that, this sound a lil’ betta… Tha beat pretty nice fa tha streetz fa this generation and it sounds nice wit how you bringin’ this G-shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you puttin’ it down fa tha hood… Like, this music ain’t too bad, but I’ont see why 100,000+ people have to be on it. Like, there was much betta music than this in tha past that only 1,000’s were on! Then again, this generation on views’ so different from back in tha day! People don’t view, anymore! My Rating: 3.6

½time: I gotta get used to your
music a lil’ more. Maybe, some collaborations in tha future? Fa now, this a
decent start to this CD with no features and original production, at least. You
prolly should fuck wit some of Baton
Rouge’s biggest undaground producers and put it down…
Fa now, a 3.6-rated
CD…

“Dream”
>>> This ain’t even have a second ta start and just got to tha rappin’? Weird… At :14, it changed to a different song; weird as fuck? Beat sounds like every Future, mainstream-soundin’ track out now, so low interest in it from me… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m likin’ your rappin’ on tha real-life shit, here; I can fuck wit it… I just realized that tha “NBA” in your stage name stands for Never Broke Aagain; that sux for me… On anotha note, nice job with tha 2nd verse, too, holdin’ it down fa this one that ain’t “get to live [they] dream.” Why tha extra music at tha end, like tha beginning? Confusing as fuck, too! My Rating: 3.9

“Thug Wit Me”
>>>
I got other shit ta do than to listen to some bullshit auto-tune. Don’t make me
skip this and give it an automatic 1.0! Well, hearin’ it now and I won’t skip
it. Just know that it sounds catchy, but it ain’t somethin’ I’d take serious.
When I hear tha “What’s yo name, baby?” shit, I instantly think of this bein’
some cheesy mainstream song out there… Only one verse, here, and ehh, just
leave it at “cheesy mainstream song!” My
Rating: 2.8 (I was nice; could’ve been
nicer, but had to be real! Catchy, but guilty pleasure!)
07.
“Change”
>>> Random-soundin’, here, on tha hook… Hearin’ tha verse and it sounds just like a mainstream Kevin Gates flow, so I believe I’m turned off, in a way… Just sounds like rappin’, rappin’, yada-yada-yada-rappin’! I’m yawnin’; can’t have interest in all this randomness… I think I might like tha previous song better!! My Rating: 2.7

“How To Love”
>>> Even tho this cheesy with tha quiet beat and it bein’ about “love,” I’ll admit, I’m in tha same boat. “I don’t know how to love;” same here, 28 years in! “I’m only 16;” wow, people are 40 now, as far as tha age differences! Ain’t think I’d be 12 years older than some1 I’d review in Louisiana! Either way, nothin’ goin’ on with this production so it’s makin’ me feel bored… Tha 1st verse aight, but I ain’t gettin’ any feelin’ outta it… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse and it’s nice ta hear some real-life rhymes… My Rating: 2.5

“All Nite”
>>> Beat a lil’ betta than usual… Hearin’ tha verse and it sounds good wit how you’re tryna build a come-up… Tha hook sounds good ta go with tha verse, as well… My Rating: 3.7

Overall: I’ono about this, here,
as far as tha crazy buzz… Tha rappers I done grew up to in Baton Rouge usually ain’t have a lotta
views/followers & were way better/my legends. I mean, you have way more
followers than people like Level? He got millions of views on YouTube…! But
yeah, I got three more CDs of yours to peep out, so we’ll see if there’s
improvement. For now, a lil’ too much rappin’ about tha money, some weak
production, a Kevin Gates-jacked flow & some boring vibes? Just statin’ my
opinion… I’ll be back for more!
