Review #1,587: YoungBoy "Mind Of A Menace"

Reviewed on 11.07.2016 (Review #1,587)

I kinda jumped outta order and ain’t realize there was a CD before Before I Go, so lemme get inta this one: NBA YoungBoy Mind Of A Menace, from last year… FYI: He was only known as “Young Boy” on this one! Start Time: 5:49 PM | End Time: 6:23 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Intro”
>>> A lil’ beginning that sounds good for an intro… Hearin’ you on tha verse and it sounds nice with how you’re debuting yourself to tha world… My Rating: 3.9

02. “Homicide” feat. Scotty Cain
>>> I’m feelin’ tha production, here; true Baton Rouge sound fa tha streetz! Nice with how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, here, doin’ tha damn thang! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; what else can you expect? Endangered communication in Baton Rouge equals a “homicide!” Then again, I’ll be touchin’ down in Louisiana soon! There won’t be any “homicide” action while I’m there so I can continue ta come there! Nice job wit how you comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, here; good shit. Great job with tha collaboration, here; Scotty comin’ through nicely on tha 3rd… I’ono if this gon sound strange to predict, but I feel like this gon be tha best song outta all your songs I review, lol. My Rating: 4.3

03. “Fuck The Fame”
>>> Sounds like a louder beat; not bad… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty catchy; good shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you’re representin’ nicely, here; good shit! Only one verse, here? A whole entire 59 seconds of a beat outro? I’ono, but I’m really likin’ how this CD’s goin’, so far, despite tha previous one I reviewed! My Rating: 4.2

04. “NBA My Gang” feat. 75th Boomer
Neva heard of this feature, so let’s see how this goes… >>> Beat sounds decent but I’m likin’ tha representation of tha “NBA Gang” on tha hook; “we retarded!” Sounds like a catchy hook; nice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and you’re representin’ fa “Boomer” wit him “sneakin’ in wit [his] 40,” here… Even when you bring up “money” on this one, I can’t say it’s totally wack ‘cause you got tha vibe on lock, here… Hearin’ Boomer on tha 2nd verse and I almost thought it was a YFN Lucci or somebody like that, with tha voice… Just sounds like random rappin’ fa tha streetz ta me, but it’s good to have someone feature on your songs so it breaks away from too much of you, ya dig? My Rating: 3.7

05. “Ain’t No Way Around It”
>>> Likin’ this beat start, here… Sounds almost like a regular-soundin’ production but it has some spice in it to make it interesting, with tha vibe… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice; expressin’ da real! Nice job wit how you’re comin’ through wit it on tha 1st verse! Teenage hood shit, even tho tha “teenage” doesn’t really apply to tha categorizin’!! Sounds good with how you comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, too, spittin’ tha real! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Sounds like quality, here; feelin’ how you comin’ through wit it on these beats! It’s all about stayin’ undaground and bringin’ tha heat! A 4.1-rated CD, so far; keep it goin’!

06. “Let Me Know”
>>> Anotha above-average beat, here, and tha verse soundin’ nice… My Rating: 3.7

07. “Isolation” feat. NBA KD
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not too bad; regular-soundin’ rappin’, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it decent fa me; not much ta say… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from this NBA KD and it ain’t bad… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Turn Up”
>>> Good attempt at makin’ a nice club song, but it sounds like everything else right now, like, 0% Baton Rouge vibe… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s all about “playing beer pong,” here; fun times, but typical beat! I’m likin’ tha continuous party vibes comin’ out tha lyrics in tha 2nd verse, here… My Rating: 3.8

09. “Until Then”
>>> This has a nice lil’ sound to it in tha beginning of tha beat, here… I’m definitely feelin’ how you comin’ through wit tha flow/lyrics, here! Also luv how tha hook’s a lot longer than a usual, 24-second hook! Gotta luv tha line, “Roll up tha purp and let’s get hiiiiiiiiigh!” Goes over in an interesting way with this beat… Nice job with keepin’ this undaground vibe goin’ on tha 1st verse, holdin’ shit down… Nice job with tha 2nd verse, too, just holdin’ it down, here… And, a beat outro over a minute long… My Rating: 4.0

10. “No Worries”
>>> Not likin’ how this beginning sounds like “No New Friends” or somethin’. That’s tha first thing that came to my head when I seen this title, despite it bein’ a different title… Even Wayne had a bullshit song with that title, years ago… Hearin’ tha hook and it kinda reminded me of a faster version of Wayne? A lil’ repetitive, but ehh… Hearin’ tha verse and it’s aight; not too bad… Kinda fits more in tha mainstream category fa me… Too bad nothin’ be happenin’ wit these beats… And, you shout-rappin’ 1:22 in? My Rating: 3.2

11. “Big Timerz”
>>> Decent beat; decent sound wit what you’re bringin’ to tha table on tha verse… You call it “Big Timerz”, but I feel like you’re pursuin’ a “big” dream, here, with what you’re expectin’ in tha future… My Rating: 3.7

Overall: A lil’ betta from when I reviewed tha previous one, Before I Go, which was really after this one. Tha production was nice on a good portion of tha tracks, here, includin’ some of tha catchy rhymes/flows you brought to tha table… Now, let’s see if you can handle reviewz three more times, as I got more to review from you!
