Review #1,547: Snake Eyez "Spook N Da Corna Vol. Unknown"

Reviewed on 9.27.2016 (Review #1,547)

Keepin’ dem reviewz goin’, up next, I have Snake Eyez, outta Baton Rouge, Spook N Da Corna Vol. Unknown, released in 1995 on Hollow Point Records & was produced by Off Tha Corna Krewe! Start Time: 5:24 PM | End Time: 6:32 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. V-O
Time ta get inta dis! >>> Nice, dark voice, with an echo… Nice job with tha female voice, too… My Rating: N/A

02. “Pha Da Lowkals”
Dat’s right! >>> Beat’s nice and bass-y fa tha undaground, here; nice and calm… Tha hook sounds nice “pha da lowkals!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice and calm, too; good shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad… This iz nice and chill; wonder if tha whole CD gon be like dis? Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it ain’t bad, as well… My Rating: 3.6

03. Carriage Ride
>>> A skit? Interestin’… Not sure what ta say… My Rating: N/A

04. “Inna EZ”
>>> A calm beat, here, with a calm, but cool 1st verse… Tha hook ain’t too bad… I think this review gon just be aight, but nothin’ special… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s calm, as well… Nothin’ much goin’ on wit tha 3rd verse, as well… Kinda feelin’ like tha hook’s a lil’ catchier than just it bein’ “okay,” since we’re “cuttin’ up a slice of dat EZ shit.” A 4th verse, here…; decent… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Pasa Blanc”
>>> Beat’s decent; old school hip-hop, here… Tha 1st verse ain’t too bad…; feelin’ those eerie beat sounds, at times… Tha 2nd verse’s decent; I can’t say much… And, not bad with tha 3rd verse, too… My Rating: 3.4

06. “Wicked Nola (It Be Battle Time)”
>>> Much betta production, finally; definitely feelin’ tha dark vibe! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear; definitely feelin’ tha eerie vibe! It’s like, ya neva know what gon happen next! Tha hook’s pretty nice, even tho it’s just mainly tha beat… An intermission after tha 1st hook? What’s goin’ on, here…? Hope there’s more… Huh? Neva mind, I ain’t fix tha fuckin’ files! This two tracks in one, smh! My Rating: 4.3

07. “Negro League”
[No preview due to it randomly went into it…] >>> Decent beat; decent verse… Now, I believe I’m hearin’ tha actual track? I’m not sure but I’ll pick up from here, Track #07… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad; it sounds a lil’ betta than usual… I’ono what was at tha end of tha previous song, but it might’ve been just a skit ta introduce this track? Not sure… Either way, hook’s simple… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it ain’t too bad with these rhymes… My Rating: 3.5

08. The Healin’ (Bring Manata)
>>> Nice mantra in tha beginning, here… Kinda sounds like an interlude in tha rain, or somethin’… Nice lil’ dark “healin’,” here… Eerie timer goin’ off, at tha end!! My Rating: N/A

½time: Decent release, so far; nothin’ really sparkin’ my attention, expect #06… A 3.7-rated release, so far…

09. “Phuture”
A long track, here, spawnin’ 6:41! >>> Beat’s nice and undaground-soundin’, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad… I’m diggin’ your catchy, undaground rappin’, here… Tha hook was an eerie female voice and it sounded nice ta hear… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it almost sounds like a featured artist…; not too bad, here… Also, I’m hearin’ more of tha hook, now, and it sounds interestin’ wit tha “time keep tickin’” and shit. Since my brother died, last year, I feel like that’s what “time” iz doin’! It’s literally like I have a time limit ta get these Louisiana CD reviewz done! With that bein’ said, lemme continue! Here’s tha 4th verse and it’s chill, once again, tellin’ da story… My Rating: 3.9

10. “+Roads”
Let’s hear about these “+Roads”! >>> A nice, eerie start! Definitely diggin’ your random female vocals you bring on tha tracks, in tha background! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, comin’ through fa tha dark side! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear; can’t complain… I’m really feelin’ your attempt at a dark track, once again! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd hook and, wow, much-more scarier!! Really feelin’ tha distinct sounds!! It’s on some Are You Afraid Of The Dark?-type shit! My Rating: 4.4

11. Only A Test
>>> Okay… Oh, wait, a loud chatter?! My Rating: N/A

12. “Mood Swangz”
Let’s hear it! >>> Calm, raining start… Then, tha beat kicks in and iz a soulful-soundin’ one fa tha Gz… I’m feelin’ this beat start; let’s see if it’s better than decent! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty good… I like how you sound like a gangsta, here, just coolin’… Tha hook pretty nice; feelin’ how you definin’ tha “mood swangz.” Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some regular-soundin’ shit fa tha undaground… I’m diggin’ how this iz set in tha storm… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s nice ova this storm beat, too… My Rating: 4.2

13. “Hole In The Wall”
Anotha long track… >>> An introduction, here, speakin’ on some shit, here… Lots of talkin’, so far… Wow, this a really-long skit… Like, 5:47?! Coulda been tha outro?? A beat kickin’ in around 3:42? Maybe, it’s two tracks in one, once again? Decent rappin’, here… My Rating: 3.5

14. “Our Time”
>>> Beat’s okay, with a lil’ West Coast vibe… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad, here…; a lil’ quieter than usual? Tha hook’s straight…; it’s nothin’, really… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ straight, too; feelin’ tha dark vibe… Tha 3rd verse straight, too; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.7

15. “Da Funkness”
6:04?! >>> Beat good fa tha undaground, as always… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent… Tha hook sounds aight; just scratchin’ in tha beat/vocals… Tha 2nd verse sounds like a feature… It literally sounds like a ‘90s version of DJ Ya Boy Earl… Diggin’ how they “force” their aggression, throughout tha verse! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds like you, this time, comin’ through wit catchy rhymes… That dude that was on tha 2nd verse’s on tha 4th verse, here, comin’ through wit more aggression! Gotta dig it!! And, we got you on tha 5th verse, here, comin’ through a lil’ betta than usual… My Rating: 4.0

16. Money & Hoez
>>> Beat sounds nice, includin’ a phone call in tha beginning, here… Yada-yada-yada… I’ono, just a random interlude, here… My Rating: N/A

17. “Spook N Tha Corna”
I feel like I’ve been reviewin’ this CD fa’eva! 1:07:53 neva seemed so long! We’ll see how this goes, fa 5:32! >>> Beat’s nice and dark, luckily! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ nice with tha dark vibe… I’ono, just sounds like a long verse ta me…; no transition ta keep my interest fully up! My Rating: 3.6

Overall: I wanna say this was a great CD, but at tha same time, most of it was decent fa me. Most of tha verses had nothin’ really special poppin’ off fa me, but were still betta than nothin’! Production was plain, at times, but still, tha dark vibes came outta a few tracks… Either way, it turned out ta be decent…
