Review #48: DJ Scream & Rocko Da Don "Swag Season"

Reviewed on 2.06.2008 (Review No. 48)

Wat tha fuck iz good!! It's yo boy FrankieThaLuckyDog, doin' another review! This one I've been WAITIN' to get to!! I had a bunch of other mixtapes to review b4 this one, so now it's finally fuckin' time to get to this! My dawg DJ Scream and my dawg Rocko wit that HIGHLY ANTICIPATED mixtape "Swag Season". Really have a VERY HIGH AL wit reviewing it, so without further or do, here goes my review!! Start Time: 10:00 PM | Video Game Playing: The Legend Of Zelda – Ocarina Of Time (for Nintendo 64) (on my computer)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. "Swag Season Intro"
Let's get into this thang, ya dig!! >>> Yeah I didn't really hear much from Rocko except for "Umma Do Me" so this gon be exciting. Yeah Rocko sound like a real cool dude. Definitely lookin' forward to this whole entire mixtape!! My Rating: N/A

02. "Dis Morning"
Tha intro to this was playin' in tha intro to tha mixtape, lol. Anyway, looks like Marvelous J produced it. Definitely a VERY HIGH AL on this!! >>> Hearin' tha hook right now and it sounds real good. Shit Rocko's swag style real tight. Yeah that hook iz very singable "dis morning, I woke up, feelin' like money."That's real fuckin' tight!! That's cool that Rocko has kids. They must feel extremely proud of Rocko right now. Tha verses to this joint were nice and slow on tha flow (which I think I really like tha slow flow/rappin' when it comes to tha jointz). But this iz a real good start to tha mixtape!! My Rating: 4.7
^ Prolly tha BEST start to a mixtape to a song I never heard before!!!

03. "Language"
Aight I really don't know what to expect wit this mixtape. It gon be REAL good, but I can't imagine how I can define that in my head right now… Rocko gon come thru wit some HEAT! Wonder what this song'll sound like… very curious! >>> That intro sounds hot. Yeah production definitely on point right here. Just like wit Wes Fif, gotta LOVE these songs about money! Yeah "money like tha lot-to" Gotta fuckin' love tha lotto (as I've been playin' tha lotto for a decade now). To tell you tha truth, I actually don't really like tha hook, but at least I really feel tha verses and tha beat. Yeah that hook can go. It goin' on way too much at tha end. At least it sounds like they mixed "Umma Do Me" at tha end of this. My Rating: 3.8

04. "Street Authorized Interlude"
Oh it's not "Umma Do Me". Wow that was a surprise. Instead it's an interlude, and I'm lookin' forward to it!! >>> Gotta like how when he talks, he sounds a lil' like Wes Fif tha way he talks. I like it. Gotta love these dirty south rappers!! My Rating: N/A

05. "Umma Do Me"
OMG what can I say…??? HOTTEST DIRTY SOUTH RAP SONG OF 2008!!! I know it was originally released in 2007, but it's takin' OVA 2008! It's currently my "Anthem Of Tha Year"! We'll see if it can become tha biggest anthem of tha year for me when tha year ends so it can win that award for "My Anthem Of Tha Year". When I first heard this, I was a lil' unsure about it 'cause I saw it buzzin' on New York's Hot 97 in their mixshows, and I was wonderin' what all tha fuss iz about, but as soon as I started playin' it on January 19, 2008, it has been takin' ova wit me! It currently has been No. 1 on my Top 10 Countdown (of my favorite songs out right now) for a week straight pretty much, and it doesn't look like it's goin' anywhere. I first saw tha video air on MTV Jams for tha first time last Sunday, February 3, 2008 @ 2:59 PM, so according to MTV Jams, they played it for tha first time at 6:59 AM on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Definitely my favorite music video out right now! BIG ANTHEM for tha hustlerz! Pretty much what I do all day, err-day. I do myself; "umma do me"! I REALLY HOPE Rocko has a REAL GREAT future! He doin' tha ma'fuckin' thang!!! Yeah hopefully expect this to win awards on my 2008 Music Awards (6th annual), which'll be resulted prolly January 2009. Yeah I definitely am doin' me right now wit this review, and stayin' fresh; I'm rockin' a dark blue/orange polo right now, ya dig. Love that line "I talk to tha car, and tha car talk back." And another one, when he says "playa, why you limpin'??" This joint might be tha No. 1 Rap song on my playlist, which tha current playlist iz ending on Sunday, February 10th, so we'll see what happens. My Rating: 5.0

06. "Trap Party" Feat. Future
Yes here we go wit some trap muzik wit "trap" in tha title!! It's gettin' me thirsty, so I gotta get a drink! First feature, and I really, personally, really like songs that deal wit/are about drugs. I mean, I don't do drugs due to I'm Autistic (don't want it fuckin' up my Autism), and most importantly, I have Asthma, so I do lose my breath at times. I'll never forget that Asthma attack I had (I think) on November 23, 2001. I went to a bowling alley on Long Island, New York wit my class, and there were fumes, and tha fumes gave me an Asthma attack within 3 minutes. I had to wait a shocking 10 minutes to get to an inhaler. Instead of taking 2 puffs, I had to take 4, which iz double, so yeah, shocking, but I love tha smell of weed, and I feel as if I hang out wit my boyz while they smoke weed, it brings lots of good luck to me for some reason. Got a REAL HIGH AL on this!! >>> Real nice beat, and yeah, definitely soundin' like an anthem right now! Love tha singin' on tha 1st verse, and that line "kush got me feelin' like I'm on Marssssssssssss." Definitely feelin' this, and that singin' flow wit tha beat iz real, real nice!!!! Future sounds like Shawty Lo on tha flowin' speed and a lil' bit of Young Jeezy on tha flow. My Rating: 4.6

07. "Really Gettin' Money"
These are some FUCKIN' great titles right here!!! From "Umma Do Me" (doin' yourself) to "Trap Party" (song about tha trap & drugs), and now "Really Gettin' Money" (hustlin'/money). Definitely lookin' forward wit a VERY HIGH AL (AL = anticipation level)!!! >>> A lil' odd on tha beat intro. Reminds me of somethin' from my "young" dayz. Tha beat does kick in tho, so it's real good. Yeah definitely lovin' that hook. Gotta feel it. Really feelin' tha ad-libs on tha 2nd verse. Yeah Rocko got good ad-libs. People say it's like Young Jeezy's ad-libs. I consider that in a real good way 'cause Young Jeezy has real good ad-libs as well. *Repeats tons of times* "I'm tha real deal, while these other cats frontin' / You can look at me and tell I'm really gettin' money / I'M REALLY GETTIN' MONEY, I'M REALLY GETTIN' MONEY / I ain't hard to see that I'm really gettin' money!" Anthem right there!! My Rating: 4.4

08. "Busy"
Another good title, and yeah, I be busy wit college, but also showin' love to tha music industry (mainly tha Rap industry) 'cause this month, in honor of Black History Month, I'm doin' a mixtape/CD review EVERY SINGLE DAY of tha month! That's right! At least 29 mixtape/CDs reviewed by tha end of tha month! Definitely love Rap music and most underground talent, ESPECIALLY dirty south Rap music! Rocko Da Don doin' tha ma'fuckin' thang!! High AL! >> Yeah I'm takin' time outta my busy schedule Scream. Tha beat sounds good. Reminds me of somethin' else… Can't think of it tho. Yeah tha hook on point. I be busy, but I get through everything I need to get to that's manditory during tha day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, my Top 10 Countdown, college, homework, and reviews). Yeah definitely "busy in tha trap." This joint was a lil' shorter, but it still was definitely good. Rocko owns tha anthems!! My Rating: 4.3

09. "Where I'm From Interlude"
Yes another interlude. Let's hear tha bidness Rocko! >>> Yeah props on that info. Props to that boy Scream for puttin' Rocko on this mixtape! For someone I never really heard of that much, it's REAL good to just have him on a mixtape, and just do tha damn thang on err-thang! Keep doin' you Rocko. You doin' it BIG! My Rating: N/A

10. "Money"
*Sings tha Bizzy Bone & Twista song* "moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, moneyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!" Yes another song, better yet TITLE, about/with "money" in it. Another High AL! >>> Only 1:45. I know Rocko'll turn each second into a BANGER! Yeah nice hook. It's hypnotizing, especially hearin' money as an acronym. "M.O.N.E.Y.!" Yeah did tha damn thang on that one! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Shit, I knew it! A fuckin' BANGIN'-ASS mixtape right here!!!!! All tha jointz except No. 3 (No. 3 bein' good, but not as good as tha others) have VERY HIGH ratings wit me!! Goes to show you Rocko'll DEFINITELY be a HIGH QUALITY rapper/artist for a REAL LONG TIME!!! DEFINITELY lookin' forward to tha rest of this mixtape!!!

11. "Money Ain't An Object" Feat. Yo Gotti
I know tha haterz are prolly sayin' right now "all that dude talk about iz 'M.O.N.E.Y., M.O.N.E.Y., money, money money!' He don't talk about any other shit," but on my side of thangz, I really like Rocko, and I don't give a fuck what tha haterz think. *Lightning strikes* Oh it's still lightning ova here. Maybe that'll bring luck to this joint! High AL (especially since it's featuring Yo Gotti)!! >>> Sounds better than tha previous song already. Real nice hook by Yo Gotti. Real nice intro to by tha way by tha both of them. Yeah this beat REAL nice! Rocko doin' his thang on his verse! Yo Gotti had a nice verse, and yeah, that's such a fuckin' great hook!! I personally think Rocko sounds like a mix of Young Jeezy and Big Kuntry, and I think it's REAL good. Rocko, you "ain't directin'" (as you said), I am (when it comes to thangz, I'm a REAL good director/editor wit videos and thangz)! My Rating: 4.7 Yup tha lightning brought luck!

12. "Stripes Interlude"
"Stripes"? Izn't that a joint you got out wit Shawty Lo if I'm not mistaken? I think I'm right. Lookin' forward to tha interlude! >>> Yeah "best thang since tha stove," I feel ya tho. Yeah it does look like I was right about tha "Stripes" and Shawty Lo thang! My Rating: N/A

13. "Stripes" Feat. Shawty Lo
And I was right! Roc to tha K-O wit Shawty to tha L-O. VERY HIGH AL on this joint! Prolly a BANGIN' beat, BANGIN' verses by Rocko & Shawty Lo, BANGIN' hook, somethin' 'bout tha trap, money, drugs. I HOPE I'm RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING I JUST SAID!!! >>> Marvelous J again on tha beat! Bangin' beat, check. Bangin' hook, check. "I got white" (as mentioned in tha hook), so drugs, check. Money, check. I dunno what exactly "stripes" iz according to Rocko, but it prolly somethin' good. Alls I know iz I got stripes on my polo; that's it. Bangin' verse by Rocko, check. Glad to hear more L-O! Bangin' verse by Shawty Lo, check. Pretty much a trap song, check. I knew it! Everything I predicted came true (7 for 7)!!! At least it came true on this other than tryin' to appeal my Ethics grade today. I still got that shitty-ass D in Ethics (from last semester – I feel too old to earn a D at my age). That shitty-ass grade made me fall off tha Dean's List. Anyway, real glad for Rocko & Shawty Lo on this collabo! REALLY was feelin' it! My Rating: 4.8

14. "Still On Da Grind" Feat. Rick Ross
Wow 3 collabos in a row! This time wit Raauuuussss!! I shouldn't say anything right now 'cause I know it gon be REAL good! Just by tha title, it looks like/reminds me of a follow up to tha Ty Cobb/Bun B/Rick Ross song "On My Grind" from 2006. High AL!! >>> Shout out to J-Nicks! Dude had a HUGE song wit me in late 2006/2007 wit "Errr-day (Remix)" featuring Natureboy Rowe. Beat sounds soft in tha beginning, but now I'm hearin' tha hook, and it's soundin' a lil' better. Nice hook. Rocko iz soundin' like Rich Boy on this joint. Yeah "err-day on my grind!" I feel ya dawg. Good verse by Rocko. Yeah Raauuuussss "I pledge a legence to tha white house." Speakin' of white, it wasn't that cold today (it was 52 degrees where I'm at right now in Northeast PA). I guess 'cause I knew this mixtape was comin'. It's on FIRE, just like tha heat increasing in degrees! Yeah Rocko, you "shine, shine, shiiine!" Definitely somethin' nice right here. My Rating: 4.1

15. "Tomorrow"
Saw this mentioned somewhere, so I remember tha title. It looks anticipating to me, so High AL. Now we're back to just Rocko! >>> Yeah what tha hell gon happen "tomorrow" wit me? I got an underground mixtape to review, and yeah, this beat soundin' real nice. Sounds like this joint wants to really catch onto me. I see it happenin'. Who tha hell iz that after Rocko's first part? It doesn't sound like Rocko, and it sounded more like Timbaland or somethin'… Yeah "ballin' like I hit tha lotto!" Gotta love tha 2nd lotto line on this mixtape. Yeah definitely "stunt like there's no tomorrow!" Gotta do it BIG! My Rating: 4.0

16. "Nu, Nu (Everythang)"
Before I check tha title, I'm gonna say that No. 16 iz usually tha lucky/BIG banger, but according to this mixtape, nearly EVERY FUCKIN' JOINT has been a REAL BIG banger, so how BIG can No. 16 be? Really lookin' forward to checkin' tha title! *Checks tha title…* Yeah tha title looks good. I actually was thinkin' of Fannypack (tha girl group) right away when I saw that title 'cause their last joint was in 2005 wit "Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah)", a remake. This I know ain't gon be a remake, and I like that "everythang" in parenthesis. High AL on this joint! >>> to tha new money! I guess tha "nu" in tha title = tha word "new". Now I can see it cleared tha comparison for me. Yeah you must love ur kush since it was gone within an hour (according to what you said). Tha beat iz aight, and kinda more on tha Timbaland & Magoo side of thangz (as it reminds me of some of their shit from back in tha day). Yeah I feel ya, "out wit tha old, in wit tha new." Yeah I got new clothes not too long ago. I got my first polo (a light blue one) on January 21, 2008, along wit 3 Brooklyn shirts (all long sleeves), and then on January 28, 2008, I got 4 polos (2 that are mainly red, white, and black), another/different light blue one wit a lil' bit of red, and tha one I'm rockin' right now, tha dark blue/orange one (all short sleeves). Anyway, yeah that joint was nice. My Rating: 4.1

17. "Just Like Me" Feat. Jim Jones
Yes this joint iz on here! I prolly heard it here and there. I was tryin' to download it, but I couldn't find it, so I had no luck playing it in 2007 'cause Music Choice Rap aired it for tha first time on March 14, 2007 @ 12:46 AM. Even tho it an oldie (which I don't remember what it sounded like I don't think), it prolly a goodie, so High AL on hearin' this again! >>> Yeah this sounds good, and I think I remember it a lil'. I was like "another southern rapper wit Jim Jones it looks like," and it looked good. Yeah that beat iz definitely on sum tight shit. Yeah tha hook can be a lil' repetitive, but ya gotta feel it. Figures Jim Jones had to use tha "ballin'" ad-lib. I don't think he does it that much anymore (I mean, this joint came out ¾'s of a year after "We Fly High" came out, so it was still big). I think if I did hear this joint a bunch of times in tha past, I prolly wouldn't have expected Rocko to have these BANGERZ on this mixtape, but he did. Rocko DEFINITELY doin' it BIG! My Rating: 4.3

18. "Yeen Talkin' 'Bout Money" Feat. Juelz Santana & Chubbie Baby
Another Dipset collabo huh? How unexpected (in a good way). Definitely lookin' forward to this!! >>> Beat sounds tight again, and it sounds real nice and fast. Looks like it's all about tha whole right side of tha U.S. wit this type of collabo! That hook tight! That Chubbie Baby dude sounds pretty good on his part. Lovin' this fast beat! It's such a nice change of pace on this mixtape! I know I'm gonna quote a lot of shit from Juelz. "I can't see tha hataz, I'm blinded by tha money." "Ridin' like horseback, tryna get more stacks." again! Yeah lovin' tha hook now!! Tha beat reminds me a lil' of Fabolous & Young Jeezy "Do The Damn Thang" at some parts. My Rating: 4.5

19. "Go Ham" Feat. Future
I predicted tha title was gon be "Cash", but I was wrong. Not sure what this gon sound like… I'll find out more about tha meaning of "Go Ham" when I hear it. Lookin' forward wit another High AL (pretty much err-thang that comes from Rocko gives me lots of anticipation)!! >>> Longest song so far at 4:37. Nice and slow (like that switch up style from No. 18). Tha beat iz tight. Good 1st verse by Future. Good verse by Rocko, doin' his thang on tha track. I can't understand tha whole meaning about "hammin' on them hoes"… Lol @ "never" instead of "neva." Good joint tho, even tho I may not understand tha meaning behind tha title. My Rating: 4.1

20. "Pour Out Some Liquor"
I have a feelin' this gon be a song dedicated to tha fallen ones. Let's see. I got a High AL still. >>> I was correct. Nice that there was a sample on tha hook. Really lookin' forward to see what Rocko gon say on this. Yeah sorry for tha fallen ones! If I heard correctly, Rocko just said "when we was playin' Nintendo 64." *PAUSES THA TRACK* That's just SO FUCKIN' WEIRD how he said that just now and I am PLAYING Nintendo 64 right now on my computer! Yeah Rocko DEFINITELY doin' it BIG on err-thang!! Yeah and now he brought up "rock". I like tha "he like / I'm like" parts. Sadly, if I had some liquor right now, I'd poor some liquor right now 'cause tha mixtape iz about to end! I wish there were TONS more songs, but I be DEFINITELY playin' this mixtape SO MUCH! Lemme do my R.I.P.'s right now: R.I.P. to my uncle Rash (died drunk driving on 7.11.2000), R.I.P. to my grandpa Pat (died on 12.01.2004 – WORSE DEATH currently – MISS YOU AROUND!!), R.I.P. to my dog Mandy (died on 12.20.2005 – I miss you SO much. Too bad my mom got a shitty-stupid-gay-retarded dog on 2.17.2006), R.I.P. to my (I think) grandpa Frank (died on 8.24.2007). I think those are tha only deaths I've witnessed in my life. Luckily it's only 4. I REALLY PRAY that no one, ESPECIALLY family members and rappers/people in tha industry, DON'T DIE!! R.I.P. to all tha fallen ones in tha rap game too! And when Rocko said "all I could do iz cry," really, sadly, I sometimes can't cry when it comes to deaths. My Rating: 4.2

21. "Swag Season Outro"
I really feel like sayin' "don't say goodnight tonight," but I gotta (quote from DJ Scotty K Feat. Knockhopper "Goodnight Tonight", a dance song from 2007 which was a remake of a Paul McCartney classic)! I REALLY enjoyed this mixtape (more after this). Here goes my feedback for tha outro! High AL on it! >>> Lookin' forward to tha announcement! Good shout outs, and Rocko, I'm definitely a fan of yours! My Rating: N/A

Overall: End Time: 11:51 PM. Prolly BEST MIXTAPE OF 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG EVERY SONG I think (except No. 3) had a rating of 4.0 or higher!!!!!! This was prolly, statistically, tha BEST THANG I EVA REVIEWED B4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rocko, DJ Scream, keep doin' ya ma'fuckin' thang, ya feel me!!!! I definitely enjoyed takin' 111 minutes out reviewin' this! Hopefully one day I'll see you or talk to you one day Rocko, and Scream, hopefully I'll see you one day (I already talked to you a few times in 2005 on tha e-mail tip and one time in 2006).
