Review #59: Big Jay Presents "Pyrex Radio Vol. 5: Back To The Money"

Reviewed on 2.17.2008 & 2.18.2008 (Review No. 59)

Watz good… It's Frankie. I feel like I have to type this same boring intro for every review I do, lol. Anyway, it's Paris Hilton's 27th birthday today; happy birthday Paris Hilton! She blessed tha last mixtape I reviewed, "Pyrex Radio Vol. 4: From Crumbs 2 Brickz", 'cause when I first reviewed Songs 1-11, they were okay (some were real good), and it was yesterday. When I continued that review today, ALL tha songs were STRAIGHT FIYA, so let's hope Paris's luck can make this PURE CRACK! Here goes my review for Big Jay Presents "Pyrex Radio Vol. 5: Back To The Money" BTW I like tha title of tha other one better, but yeah, another Pyrex Radio review (also another CD sent by my dawg Jimmy The DJ) and DEFINITELY lookin' forward!! Start Time: 11:00 PM | Video Game Playing: Quest 64 (for Nintendo 64) (on my computer) Still playin' tha same game, lol. I feel like it's a GREAT game for tha Pyrex Radio reviews!

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2008 CD Review (Review #59) reviewed on 2.17.2008 & 2.18.2008 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. "Pyrex 5 Prelude"
Wasn't Shell from 3Deep supposed to be on tha intro? Iz this even an intro? I know it says "prelude"…? Maybe I'm just buggin' out for a sec. >>> I like how Young Buck iz sayin' that "Louisiana/pyrexes" line. Also, I like tha Lil' Wayne "gotta get back to tha money" part from "You Ain't Know". But yeah, that "prelude" reminded me of tha 3rd Pyrex Radio mixtape. My Rating: N/A

02. Shell Of 3Deep "Pyrex 5 Intro"
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH here's tha intro! Nice that there was a "prelude" in tha beginning and now an intro. You know Shell my dawg, so DEFINITELY a VERY HIGH AL for this!!!!! >>> Good beat. Very good beat intro matta'a'fact. *INTERMISSION* Okay I have to type this: A VERY GOOD song just came on right now while playing this joint (Origene "Sanctuary (Rich's Radio Edit)". It's from 2004 and it's a "rare song" on Music Choice Dance; a "rare song" to them iz a song that they play once every 2 months; they play a different "rare song" once every 2 hours, at tha top of tha hour), and that song iz one of a few songs that give me a "shaking moment" (where I get real excited inside for hearing it), so right now I'm in an EXTREMELY GOOD mood. It's so weird 'cause right before I got to see what No. 2 was on this mixtape, in my head I was like "if this iz Shell Of 3Deep wit tha intro, tha "rare song" iz gonna be REAL GOOD," and I was fuckin' right both wayz around!!! That's tha kinda luck that comes to me when I have a 30+ minute conversation wit Jimmy The DJ on tha phone (which was an hour ago). to Jimmy The DJ. Keep doin' yo thang brah. And now after that 13 minutes of that moment, it's time for me to continue this! I finna rewind it back… Once again I really like that beat. It sounds like some Young Jeezy type of shit. He sounds a lil' different. Yeah dawg, you do make that "h-o-o-d everyday." Great intro hook and I like that "and if it ain't trill, then I don't like Rap!" Whoeva that iz at tha end we can minus. It should've been Shell at tha end. I hate that "no homo" saying. GAYEST THING to touch Rap music!! But yeah that shit was tight. Might have to hear it more to feel it more. My Rating: 4.4

03. Young Neff & 38 $lim "Grew Up A Screw Up (Remix)"
What's wit all them errors on tha ID? 1 and 2.) 30$lim (should be 38 $lim and a space in between) 3.) Young Neff goes before 38 $lim (that's how it was always ID'd) 4.) There should be a space between "grewup" 5.) There should be a space between "screw up" Anyway, I got worried for a second, thinkin' it was tha Ludacris/Young Jeezy joint, but I'm glad it's a rework by Young Neff & 38 $lim! Lemme hear it! >>> Why tha fuck wit them edits in tha hook?? 1st verse was good. Yeah $lim did his thang, and Young Neff was pretty good. I guess it's 'cause of tha jacked beats, but I feel like I can't give them a 4.0 or higher rating all tha time. Sorry. My Rating: 3.8

04. B.G. "Out Here"
I didn't expect B.G. on here. Ain't he kinda big to be on one of these? I don't mind ('cause I like him), but hopefully this sounds good. Let's see… >>> Feelin' it for a slow jammer on tha beat. Definitely some great rhymes from B.G.. He usually neva disappoints me, and he's very consistant 'cause he puts out an album every year (that's what I've noticed since 2003). Yeah definitely some good shit here. Real nice rhymes, and prolly one of tha best first listens for me for a beat that's smooth like this. My Rating: 4.2

05. Young Ready "Tool Muzik"
Okay I got a High AL for this. Somethin' tells me this gon be hot! >>> Pretty good beat. I like those "din-din"s that tha beat does here and there. Pretty good hook too. I thought I was gonna like this better, but wit underground music + Louisiana music, ya can NEVA disappoint it feels like! I'm glad this joint iz long 'cause it jams all tha way through. Thanx to tha length, I felt that it ties tha B.G. joint for tha rating. We'll see at tha end which one breaks tha tie breaker when it comes to tha rankings. My Rating: 4.2

06. T-Lo Of Da Jiggalators Feat. Young Ready "Retontoe"
Lol @ tha ID again. It went from "Tha" to "The" to "Da". I stick wit "Tha" 'cause that's what I saw first. What tha hell iz that title name? Iz it really one word or iz this another ID error? Lemme hear this joint 'cause it's a Young Ready 2 play! >>> Good motivating intro, and beat sounds pretty good. Okay it iz one word. What iz "retontoe" anyway? Great 1st verse by T-Lo. I guess I should say this: "FREE Young Ready!!!" I heard that he locked up or sum shit like that. That sux. BTW, T-Lo you lost that round 'cause Young Ready had a better verse than you. My Rating: 4.1

07. Blaze, B.T., Crucial, Pitt, Zoe & Young Ready "Dumb Shit (Pyremix)"
Look at this collabo! A Young Ready triple play (1st time this has happened on a compilation I think), and it looks like Pyrex iz on tha remix! Let's see how this whole thang gon turn out to be! >>> Good beat by Mouse (I like how that "Mouse On Tha Track…" thing was real slow also). What a major combo for this joint! All them verses are great, and I'm definitely enjoyin' this whole track. Can't disappoint me fa'sho. My Rating: 4.0

08. 3Deep "Do It Stick It"
Again 3Deep are No. 8 on tha mixtape! I heard that this joint was a big one (thanx to my boy Jimmy The DJ for tellin' me) in Louisiana last year. Too bad nobody I know (sources) caught onto this joint (that means I neva heard it yet). But now I'm gonna finally hear it, so definitely HIGH AL! >>> Lol @ Mouse on tha hook. It definitely has that old Louisiana feel to it. Pretty catchy hook, but I thought "Watch My Shoes" had a better hook… Hope this joint picks up… *Frankie sticks his teeth out* It's Lil' Phat on tha 2nd verse (no offense, just how he flows). Yeah my boy Shell on tha 3rd verse. "Like DJ Drama, stick that gangsta in ya grillz" Great line, and once again, Shell blows tha other 2 dudes of 3Deep away! Yeah this song iz great. I almost wasn't gonna give it a real good rating due to it bein' too much of a single soundin' (even tho my sources didn't even think of/get it), but yeah, tha hook caught on a lil' better, and it should be somethin' nice to listen to (that's if I burn this mixtape onto my iPod; I burned tha last 2). My Rating: 4.3

09. Young Jeezy, Fabo Of D4L & Savage "Scotty (Pyremix)"
Most unexpected combo here: a title called "Scotty", it's Young Jeezy (and not Young Ready), Fabo, Mr. Savage himself, and it bein' a "Pyremix"? What an odd combo! This should turn out to be either odd, real good, or both. Let's see… >>> Okay one of tha worst beats out of all tha songs out of every Pyrex Radio mixtape. Lol @ tha "Scotty" when Fabo said it. How random. Tha hook sounds good at tha end tho. Somethin' about tha Young Jeezy songs. They don't seem to compete wit tha otha jointz on here for me. Can Savage save it? Yeah Savage definitely had a good part. Too odd (like I expected). It's like a bunch of tha most things randomly mixed together. Let's see… lemme get a boiling pot out and throw in some ingrediants: mix tha name "Scotty" wit a Young Jeezy, a Pyremix, throw some Fabo in there, stir thingz up, then throw in tha hot sauce (a.k.a. Savage), and there ya go, ya have a song. ROFL! My Rating: 3.6

10. DJ B-Real & Lakeith "Worm It Out"
What tha… … Iz this turnin' into a joke now or somethin'? Am I expected to laugh? Ya wanna see me laugh or somethin'…? "Worm It Out"? So I should move like a worm huh? >>> Not lookin' good 'cause it's a song that's tryin' to create a dance. Ya gonna see a lot of fuckin' people dancin' like worms to this shit! Why tha beat tight for this? I dunno… I like "humor" Rap music, but for this mixtape, it's supposed to be TIGHT shit: tha Savage, 3Deep, Young Ready, etc. type of shit. Not no dance type of shit. Sorry, but tha rating has to be a lil' lower for me. Did that dude at tha end on tha phone say tha next joint iz "Adios"? My Rating: 3.3

11. Trill Fam (Foxx, Webbie, Lil' Boosie & Big Head) "Adios"
I was correct. Music Choice Rap got this joint, and they still play it here and there (I hear it like once a week or somethin' like that). It had HUGE potential to be a single, but nobody wanted it (except MCR). I felt it, especially that hook. I still feel it today, and it reminds me of Jimmy The DJ ('cause he would always bring up this song here and there; it's also one of tha 1st songs he brought up when I'd talk to him). Hottest verse I'd say goes to… Prolly Foxx. I'd prolly rank tha verses in this order: Foxx >>> Webbie >>> Lil' Boosie >>> Big Head. I was just about to say, tha quality sounds better on this (especially durin' tha hook). I realized just now (not usually thinkin' of it) that I had a lower quality (but tha quality in kbps was tha same as all my high quality jointz). I dunno… My Current Rating: 4.6

12. J-Von a.k.a. Jimmy Mack "Animosity 2007"
That "2007" in tha title indicates this bein' a remake? Lemme find out… >>> I liked tha quiet intro and then kickin' into a louder intro! Real nice beat! That was good. Too short tho… My Rating: 4.0

½time: It's 12:27 AM right now, and like tha last 2 mixtapes, I finna continue tha 2nd ½ tomorrow morning. I feel like that brings more luck to it. Plus it takes away my impatientness, and right now, since Monday, I've been keeping track of tha current songs played on Music Choice Electronica, and on Sunday, tha last day I keep track, I like to do a lil' nap (like right now) for like 2 hours to get some more spins to tha songs that I'm keeping track of (so it looks better). Instead of goin' to bed right away (which I'd do right now), I'm just gonna take a nap wit tha music channel on. BTW, tomorrow I'm doin' Music Choice Dance's airplay (from Monday, tha 18th – tha 24th), and startin' tha 25th, I'm gonna be doin' Music Choice Rap's. And because of all these airplays, I might even do MTV Jams's startin' tha 3rd of March. We'll see, but for now, I must say "goodnight tonight." >>> Oh yeah forgot to mention, this mixtape iz off to a good start. Hope tha ending turns out to be real good like tha last one! I'm back on 2.18.2008 @ 10:42 AM, and I finna continue this thang right now!

13. Reno Da Gutta "Pyrex 5 Freestyle"
Kickin' tha 2nd ½ off wit a freestyle I see. It better be a real hot jacked beat and Reno betta do his thang! >>> Not even a jacked beat. Sounds like tha producer who did "Can't Tell Me Nothin'". I like tha "hustlin' / strugglin'" part. Definitely a great freestyle right here! My Rating: 4.3

14. Lil' Cali Feat. Mouse Of 3Deep "In My Pocket"
This looks like a cool combo. Got a High AL for it… >>> Of course off to a great start wit that kick-ass beat. Great hook too. By that, it's already at least a 4.0 rating. I like those parts right after tha "it's goin' down" about tha pounds & tha smokin'. Yeah that hook iz REAL HOT! I think Mouse sounds different in this or somethin'. My Rating: 4.7

15. Thug Brothers "Point 'Em Out"
They had a hot joint on tha (I think tha) 3rd Pyrex Radio one. Hope this one iz just as good (or better). High AL! >>> Tha beat sounds like Blak Jak "Bobbin' My Head" mixed wit Webbie's "Bad Bitch" beat. Of course this iz definitely some good shit right here! I dunno if it's me, but throughout tha beat it sounds like static or some shit. What iz that? Of course all tha verses are real good. Tha 3rd one iz tha best tho. My Rating: 4.3

16. Lil' Phat Of 3Deep "The Dumb Way"
Before I check tha title, I just wanna say that it's No. 16, and I feel anticipated already! *Checks tha title* Yeah I got a High AL, but haven't I seen this before? I know A-Mar & Dyl have it as "Tha Dumb Way" on their "Raggz 2 Riches", but didn't tha last mixtape have tha same title? *Checks* Nope. Neither did tha 3rd, but I know I saw it somewhere else. Hope this one iz good tho! >>> I know this gon be weird… Odd/good beat wit tha crowd in tha background. Mike Deisel (sp?) produced it. Not bad on tha hook so far. This sounds like it was to become a very huge single. It went nowhere tho on my sources. Finally another interlude at tha end, and it's this mysterious dude again… But yeah, this song gets tha from me. My Rating: 4.1

17. Young Buck, T.I., Young Jeezy & Pimp C "4 Kingz"
I dunno… This was unexpected… This made this mixtape? I was gonna consider playin' this song back in January 2007, but it didn't happen. It was good, but I thought it was unnecessary to be on this mixtape. >>> If this was tha 1st time hearing this, I would've prolly rated it in tha 4.0ish rating, but I've heard this a bunch of times. I guess I'll still give it a good rating 'cause this iz before that gay-ass 3rd semester I had at college! My Current Rating: 3.9

18. Savage "Gettin' Money"
Might be a BIG one!! Got a High AL! >>> Love that beat intro (as soon as I heard it)! Of course this iz hot. Great 1st verse, and of course I love tha hook. Yeah that beat iz REALLLLLLLLLLLLLL HARD!!! Can't doubt Savage! That's why my anticipation iz alwayz high when I see a Savage joint (especially one by himself)! My Rating: 4.6

19. "I'mma Jigg (Intro)"
So you're sayin' this song iz gonna be SO HOT that you had to use a separate track for tha intro? >>> Who iz this dude speaking??? Iz this dude on tha next joint "I'mma Jigg"? My Rating: N/A

20. Young Trelly "I'mma Jigg"
Are you tha dude talkin' all over this mixtape? I hope this iz good and not a joke 'cause I don't really go for these dance songs… >>> What's wit that Nelly beat? What was it again… Lol @ me not remembering… Oh that was tha Janet/Nelly beat "Call On Me". You tryin' to rip this beat or somethin'? Either this iz gonna be funny or I'm not gonna like it… Most unexpected beat on tha most unexpected topic… So yeah, this tha dude throughout tha whole mixtape. Prolly tha best, and only, rendition I've heard of "Call On Me". I guess I'd give it a " + " for tha humor. My Rating: 3.5

21. Max Minelli "Let's Go Get 'Em"
This iz tha shit I wanna hear on tha mixtape! High AL for Max!! >>> Not sure of this beat… Good line "banana peels everywhere so nigga don't slip." Sounds too much like a New York type of joint wit that beat/hook. I dig it tho. Sounds like 50 Cent at tha end. Ewe… Okay tha hook iz better than when I first heard it. Gotta really feel tha hook. My Rating: 4.1

22. Mookie "Like Dat"
Another familiar title, but I think it was tha same title as tha Sam I Am joint from tha last one. It was. This one's a lil' longer. I expect it to be good. It prolly won't be as good as Sam's joint, but I heard tha "Mouse On Tha Track" part in tha beginning, so that's why I have a High AL! >>> Sounds like a Nitti/dry beat of "Watch My Shoes". Simple hook, but it should catch on. Like that line at 0:51 "fresh 'bauds…" Gotta give props to those that rock Girbauds and put it in their songs. Real good verse. Too bad that's tha only one. Great competition wit tha other joint. This iz completely different, and I'm definitely feelin' it. My Rating: 4.3

23. Zoe Feat. Nu$$ie "Snitch"
Looks like a real good one! High AL! >>> Really like that hook: "S-N-I…T-C-H"! When Nu$$ie came outta nowhere wit that "acapella" line, it came RIGHT outta my surround sound, and I thought that was cool. Nu$$ie came outta nowhere on tha last 50 seconds. This iz real hot for a joint on here! Looks like this tha last joint sadly since tha outro iz 6 seconds. My Rating: 4.5

24. "Outro"
Sounded like a gun shot… >>> Lol/ewe how plain, lol! Just one gunshot. My Rating: N/A

Overall: End Time: 2.18.2008 @ 11:39 AM. I thought that was a good mixtape, but I don't think it was as good as tha 3rd or tha 4th one. This one had its bangerz on it tho. Can't wait to get my handz on Vol. 6 (coming soon)!
