Review #842: The Mud Fam "From The Mud To The Moon"

Reviewed on 3.02.2011 (Review #842)

Time ta get started for today wit a review: The Mud Fam “From The Mud To The Moon, as The Mud Fam iz Big Head, Baby Brandi, Stebo & Boss Action, I believe. Start Time: 10:55 AM | End Time: 11:47 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Out The Mud Sojas”
LOL @ this spellin’ of “souljas”. >>> Good, catchy-soundin’ music fa tha “sojas” here! LOL @ dat “I thought I told ya;” crazy, tight Big Head, lol! Definitely some hot shit fa tha hood and iz soundin’ really consistent!! Big Head sounds like he jackin’ a lil’ bit of Jay-Z’s flow on tha 1st verse (“Dirt Off Your Shoulder)”; there are other people ta jack—betta yet, no one/be original. Tha 2nd verse from Stebo sounds pretty good… It’s all about keepin’ it hood to tha fullest! LOL @ Baby B on tha 3rd verse, as they “get fucked like butts!” Her voice iz entertainin’, too! Boss Action’s on tha final verse, soundin’ just-as-good! My Rating: 4.6

02. “Let’s Do It”
Tha same line-up in tha same order; let’s hear what y’all got! >>> Damn, mo hot, catchy shit!!! Tha hook’s addictive, once again, wit dat “let’s do it” shit repeatin’!!! LOL, maybe not tha same order since Boss Action’s 1st… Feelin’ all tha G-shit dat’s really consistent! Comin’ up next on tha 2nd verse iz Stebo, comin’ through wit some consistent shit, too. LOL, Big Head’s 3rd, “superhero” status in here! Nothin’ ta complain, here; Big Head always holds it down!! LOL, let’s hear Brandi (Baby B) on tha 4th verse… Ooh, “bag of purp;” she in smoke heaven, females style, lol! Sounded like Vanilla Ice wit tha “a problem … I’ll solve it” shit, lol. My Rating: 4.5

03. “My Trigga Happy”
Just Big Head on dis? >>> Nice intro but I’m really not inta tha Tupac jackin’/cliché talk. Damn, this iz 5.5 minutes long and it’s just Big Head? Good shit, here; what else can I say? My Rating: 4.1

04. “Freaky Walk”
All but Boss Action on dis; let’s hear what we got… >>> It said dat Lil’ Fred was on tha track, here. Ooh, anotha catchy hook, lol! Y’all really know how ta make really-catchy music!!! Good rhymes, as they’re consistent wit rhymin’ and shit. LOL, Baby B on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit her tightness! Tha final verse iz Stebo, doin’ an aight job fa me… My Rating: 4.3

05. “Click Click, Boom”
Err-body’s on dis and dis iz almost six minutes long!! >>> Likin’ tha catchy beat start and tha hook’s definitely nice!! Good shit from Big Head, here, comin’ through wit tha good shit! LOL, Baby B’s tha 2nd one up, doin’ her thang wit dis shit and her catchiness!! Big Head’s on tha 3rd verse, again? I think Boss Action’s last; what happened to whoever was missin’? My Rating: 4.4

06. “’Bout It, ‘Bout It”
No Baby B this time. >>> Anotha Lil’ Fred-produced track. Tha hook’s soundin’ catchy; I almst feel like it’s tha ‘90s “’Bout It, ‘Bout It” wit how tha title comes outta nowhere. Tha 1st verse from Stebo’s pretty catchy. Ooh, you’re comin’ through wit tha tightness on tha 2nd verse; great emerge!! Thumbs up ta tha “Girbauds,” too!! Boss Action’s on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit consistent rhymes on dis bitch! My Rating: 4.4

07. “Baton Rouge Gansta Chic”
Baby B’s joint wit Big Head, here; let’s get it!! >>> Soundin’ “gansta” than sexual from her, this time, lol! She had both verses and Big Head only had tha outro, but still sounded catchy. My Rating: 4.0

08. “We Ready”
Just Big Head & Stebo on dis one; let’s see how great y’all do here! >>> More cliché shit in tha intro? Consistent rhymes comin’ from Big Head, here; likin’ all tha shit goin’ on! I liked tha double “bruh” part before :59, ya dig? Tha hook’s definitely catchy; y’all know how ta come through wit tha hooks!! Stebo sounds like he comin’ through wit some good shit on tha 2nd verse… LOL, there was a 3rd verse and it’s Big Head, comin’ through wit some hot shit! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Good shit from all y’all! A nice, 4.3-soundin’ CD, here!!

09. “Kill The DJ”
Now, it’s Boss Action & Big Head doin’ tha damn thang… >>> I think I heard tha beat tag right—Jon Doe? Sounds like tha tightness I’d expect from tha more-unknown producers. Tha hook’s pretty strong; good, bad-azz attitude! You know tha anger’s on when Boss Action’s comin’ through wit tha dark side wit tha rhymes! Good shit; let’s see what Big Head gon spit… LOL, nope, Boss Action comin’ through wit anotha verse, lol! I’m likin’ this verse betta than tha 1st verse; sounds betta wit tha content and shit he spittin’!! My Rating: 4.3

10. “Let ‘Em Hang”
Let’s hear Big Head & Baby B! >>> Sounds familiar; was dis in “Thuggin’ It In Lovin’ It 2”? ROFL @ tha random “Beat—Beat—Beat—Beat… —Beat Flippa on tha track” beat tag goin’ through tha hook; definitely interestin’/buildin’ my anticipation!!! Tha beat’s soundin’ pretty nice and tha hook’s official wit how Big Head’s perspective comes outta nowhere! Good job wit tha 1st verse, doin’ ya thang! Damn, dat “Beat—Beat…” shit in tha hook’s real catchy; dat’s what I call a catchy-ass beat tag technique!!! Baby B’s on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit her good shit; gotta keep it hood at all times!! Now, it’s tha 3rd verse and it’s Big Head, comin’ through wit mo hot shit ta offer on dis shit! My Rating: 4.4

11. “Who Gansta Den Me”
What’s dis title sayin’? Stebo & Big Head comin’ through on dis one… >>> Not bad on tha intro; dat sound effect scared me fa a second at :21! Tha production ain’t too bad but I’m really in a trance wit hearin’ dat sound effect every four bars!! I guess tha title should be “Den” instead of “Dem”? It sounds like a question in tha hook so I gon fix it! Also, nice job from Big Head contributin’ to tha hook, too; very catchy!! He’s on tha 2nd verse, too, comin’ through wit tha consistent rhymes again!! LOL, “cut yo tongue off!” LOL, Stebo had ta offer anotha verse, contributin’ mo shit… My Rating: 4.3

12. “Trapped Out”
Let’s hear Big Head & Boss Action collab here! >>> “Mr. Nogood” for a beginning tag? Who dat? Ooh, tha hook’s nice wit dis 225-type production! Shit no, here we go wit tha cliché shit in tha beginning of tha—neva mind, most of tha 1st verse! LOL, couldn’t get enough of Big Head, as he’s on tha 2nd verse, too. Here’s Boss on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit good “trap”-type content! My Rating: 4.1

13. “Seen Nothing”
Ooh, tha whole crew’s back!! >>> Anticipatin’ beat start!! I’m likin’ how dis sounds wit tha beginning shit Big Head spittin’! Tha hook came outta nowhere and sounds catchy; I like how tha title iz said, in a catchy perspective! Ooh, tha “police” shit sounds real catchy, too, wit tha imitated siren sound, too!! Ooh, Ms. Brandi on tha 2nd verse!! Feelin’ how she bringin’ tha heat fa tha track!! Tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ good; Stebo addin’ catchiness ta how catchy dis shit iz already!! Tha final verse iz Boss Action and yes, err-body did tha damn thang here!!! So far, this iz my top song; can it last? My Rating: 4.7

14. “Through All Times” Feat. Dat Boy A
It’s “through”, not “threw”; can’t “throw” times! This iz tha 1st actual feature wit Dat Boy A on tha feature and there’s no Boss Action, lol. >>> Sounds like it could be somethin’ anticipatin’, here, wit BluBlack (I think) on tha track (different tag?) but nothin’ too exciting, overall… I mean, it sounds good (wit everything combined) but based off all tha other shit on this CD, this ain’t up-up there. Tha singin’ doesn’t sound too much like A, either; sounds like a random person, instead. Tha verses are aight; tha 2nd verse from Stebo was a lil’ catchier than tha 1st verse from Big Head… LOL, how’d Baby B fit inta dis song and not Boss Action? Lemme see what she gon offer… Sounds like she really needs “tha Mud Fam,” lol. Prolly would’ve wanted ta hear Boss Action on somethin’ like dis; songs wit “times” are more meant fa males. LOL, tha ending sounds spooky wit less of tha beat, lol! Because of tha overall collaboration, I feel betta about dis joint, makin’ tha rating a lil’ higher than some of tha shit on this CD, already! My Rating: 4.2

15. “Ain’t Gone Hesitate”
No Boss Action again, lol? I like dis title… >>> Shout out ta “Wookee” in tha beginning. LOL, Guss beat; where’s tha “cousin” shit in tha tag? Good hook; again, it’s catchy!! ROFL, “it’s boo-ya;” random! Big Head comin’ through wit good shit fa tha 1st verse. Ooh, he on tha 2nd verse, too, gettin’ ready ta put “gloves on,” lol. Good shit; let’s keep it goin’ wit Stebo on tha 3rd verse… Sounds good wit his adjectives; where’s Baby B? Iz this an error? My Rating: 4.3

16. “Hustlin’” Feat. Locco
No, again; it’s “in’”, not “en;” “fallen” iz one of tha only words I know wit “en”. >>> Sounds like a good song; Locco iz like tha Baton Rouge version of Magnolia Chop, in a way. Good shit from Big Head on tha 1st verse, comin’ through fa dis joint. This sounds more 504 than 225 fa me wit tha way shit sounds. LOL, Baby B’s really on tha 2nd verse, doin’ her thang, here! LOL @ her “dawg” parts; she a crazy cat! I think y’all put tha “&” symbol in tha wrong spot on tha back cover, smh. No Boss Action, here, since it’s Stebo on tha 3rd verse. Decent shit he spittin’…; tha Dat Boy A feature sounds much betta than dis, now! My Rating: 4.1

17. “I Don’t Hate Them Back”
What’s wit tha lower-case on Boss Action’s “Boss” name on tha back cover? Anyway, I’m likin’ everyone’s head poppin’ up on tha back cover; that was an interestin’ thought. >>> Big Head & Boss Action, here, comin’ through wit good shit. Tha hook sounds good; typical type of hood shit I’d expect from Out The Mud Entertainment. Tha 1st verse ain’t too bad; nothin’ much catchin’ onto me but it’s still pretty good… Boss Action’s aight on tha 2nd verse…; I don’t have much ta say ‘bout dis… LOL, had ta hear Big Head one more time on tha 3rd verse. My Rating: 4.0

Overall: Damn, every song got a 4.0+ rating from me!! Now that’s what I call a classic CD!! Thumbs up ta err-body who contributed ta dis!!
