Review #911: Bruce Juice & Mr. Brass "Promotional Compilation"

Reviewed on 3.28.2011 (Review #911)

Already up ta my 4th review for today: Bruce Juice & Mr. Brass “Promotional Compilation. SMH @ tha label name, Married To Money Records; that obsessive? Start Time: 9:42 AM | End Time: 9:52 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Letter To God”
This iz a startin’ title? >>> Even though tha beat’s not for me, there’s somethin’ added to it that makes it betta than usual. Tha rappin’ sounds good, actually; ‘90s influences? Nice ‘90s style; I’ll accept this. My Rating: 3.2

02. “God I Pray”
>>> Not a good way ta use Blackbox’s “Everybody, Everybody” sample in tha beat, which now makes it wack. Bad beat but still, good rhymes… My Rating: 2.7

03. “Storm”
>>> Very boring intro; why this sample shit? Takes too long fa tha rappin’ ta come in… Tha rappin’ iz definitely nice wit this gutta flow but tha boring sample made it worse than tha previous song. My Rating: 2.5

04. “Marry Her”
>>> Sounds like white dude music; a lil’ too happy, here? Tha beat ain’t too bad and tha rappin’ iz pretty-good. But, that happy hook’s cheesy. My Rating: 2.8

½time: Only a 2.8-rated CD, currently.

05. “Up N That”
>>> Pantin’ longer than 10 seconds, lol? This could be tha best song, so far; likin’ tha combination of tha aight beat, catchy hook, and how y’all comin’ through on this track. My Rating: 3.5

06. “Highsteppa”
>>> This sounds like tha best beat outta all tha beats, currently. I guess tha 2nd ½ of this CD’s soundin’ betta, luckily. Even though I’m not inta a dancin’-type song, I like tha consistent beat and how y’all deliver shit fa tha ladies, here. My Rating: 3.6

07. “Show Off”
>>> Gay start wit this sample; I don’t think I’ll have tha most interest fa dis… Okay, I hear some fast rappin’; maybe there’s life in this song? Good rhymes, overall. My Rating: 3.3

08. “Solja’s Life”
I like dis ‘90s-lookin’ title; good sample in tha hook, this time. Tha content sounds good, here; likin’ dis… I like tha “they know what’s inside of me: marijuana and alcohol” line; good shit, here! My Rating: 3.7

Overall: Tha 2nd ½ picked up from tha 1st ½, luckily.

08. “Storm” 2.5
