Review #871: Young Batt "The Statement"

Reviewed on 3.10.2011 (Review #871)

Review #6 for today: Young Batt “The Statement. Start Time: 10:49 AM | End Time: 11:20 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Welcome To The Statement”
>>> Tha volume ain’t that loud, here? Anyway, sounds good and tha beat iz aight… Good “smokin’ on a lotta weed” part; who tha hell are you? How do you do all dat without me hearin’ your music? Tha rest of this shit sounds pretty catchy; really feelin’ tha street shit. My Rating: 4.1

02. “Down Here” Feat. Young Ready
LOL, where’d this collaboration come from? Who are you? >>> I like tha beat start; definitely catchy. Tha content and quality iz pretty nice on tha hook, too; really feelin’ what you be bringin’ to tha table! Even tha collaboration sounds nice; lol @ ‘holdin’’ someone down “doin’ five” outta nowhere! Good shit you got on tha 3rd verse, too… My Rating: 4.5

03. “Same Hustle”
>>> What’s up wit tha weird production? Feelin’ tha beginning lyrics of puttin’ a picture in your head. Tha rhymes are really consistent but I wish this beat was not an East Coast-soundin’ one; tha hook sounds pretty-good… My Rating: 4.0

04. “Hate On Me” Feat. Sabor & Briel
Wonder who these people are…? >>> Anotha semi-weak beat for me and I hear scary background vocals, too. Tha rhymes from you are good; tha hook’s a lil’ scary but at least it’s a female and not a dude. Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty catchy; very consistent wit tha rhymes! Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, either… My Rating: 3.6

05. “I’m The Boy” Feat. Level, Taylor & Lil’ One The Champ
Looks like a pretty-good collab… >>> “T-Motor” beat? Lil’ One’s on tha hook and it sounds pretty good… You’re on tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty good on this beat, too. Ooh, here comes Level on tha 2nd verse; family-related collaborations (between labels and other collaborators)? ROFL, he always raps about tha same shit. “Even tha draws got tha logo;” okay, boxers; that’s a step in a different direction, lol. LOL @ this cockiness… Taylor (Jay?) on tha 3rd verse, soundin’ good… My Rating: 4.3

06. “Tonight” Feat. Tre Virdure
Forgot tha “R” in Tre’s name on tha feature? >>> Not really my style, here, but it’s not tha worst… My Rating: 3.4

07. “Grind Time” Feat. Crucial
No more “Young” in Crucial’s name? What happened to it? Anyway, you know I’m lookin’ forward ta dis! >>> Again, prolly could’ve expected betta wit tha beat but, at least, this collaboration’s gonna anticipate me, still! You doin’ ya thang on dis one and tha hook… Crucial’s on tha 2nd verse and a definite plus fa havin’ him; very consistent wit these tight-ass rhymes and consistent shit he spittin’ ‘bout himself!! :tu LOL, you comin’ through on tha 3rd verse wit some real shit, too. My Rating: 4.2

08. “Girbauds” Feat. Jimi Jump
Definitely a high anticipation level fa dis one!!! >>> Even tha beat start has a hot sound; dun-dun-Gir-bauds <- auds="" bout="" gon="" here="" i="" it="" like="" really="" s="" sound="" spittin="" style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;" tha="" that="" think="" what="" you="">know
I fuckin’ luv “Girbauds” to tha fullest!!! I’m hearin’ tha hook and it sounds different than tha delivery I predicted; real hot shit!!!!! Definitely classic!! Gotta play dis on my radio show and wear “Girbauds”, lol! LOL, let’s hear what Jimi got ta say afta your nice 2nd verse… More on tha ‘smokin’’ tip, lol; he doin’ his thang wit you, here! LOL, even him wit tha “boxers” line about “Polo” too, lol? “Starin’ at my penis;” lots of crazy, random shit comin’ out his mouth wit a joint ‘bout “Girbauds”, lol! My Rating: 4.9

½time: Soundin’ good fa you bein’ unknown ta me! A 4.1-rated CD, currently; keep tha bangers and collaborations comin’ along!!

09. “You Don’t Know” Feat. A-One (Wissel)
>>> Damn @ this beat; and Wissel’s on dis? Dis’ll prolly suck; he’ll prolly spit some stupid, typical-type shit ‘bout girls or some boring shit like dat. :td You sound like someone else on this joint… Damn, I knew it; Wissel sucks wit dis 2nd verse! From tha beginning, nothin’ but boring, typical rhymes about gurls and ‘non-existin’’ shit he’s sayin’ (“textin’”); he doesn’t text like dat, smh! Overall, more distracted and annoyed wit dis; at least you were normal wit dis. Oh yea, no comment on tha boring hook. My Rating: 2.5

10. “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” Feat. Lil’ Mista
Let’s hear dis anticipatin’ joint! >>> Mod Productions doin’ tha beat and it’s soundin’ regular—good enough ta have you and Mista on it. Tha hook sounds catchy; you know what it iz… Some of tha beat sounds like sounds from Bobby Beams “Yesterday”? Nice job wit how you comin’ through on dis track but it’s all about Mista, doin’ tha damn thang, here! My Rating: 4.3

11. “Pocket Full Of Paper” Feat. Hey Daem
“Hey Daem”? Thought his name was just “Daem”? >>> At least your rhymes keep dis a lil’ interestin’; gettin’ tired of some of these decent/below-average beats. Tha hook sounds nice, of course; what more could you ask wit “paper”? Tha rest of dis iz still good… My Rating: 3.8

12. “Product Of The Ghetto”
>>> A lil’ long fa tha start but now dat I hear tha hook, I’m likin’ dis, in a way. Good rhymes you spittin’ on this track… My Rating: 3.8

13. “Pop It For Me”
Just you on dis? >>> Tha production’s a lil’ betta… Tha rhymes are soundin’ a lil’ betta, here, too. Why do people keep thinkin’ everyone ‘pops pills’? :confused Even though I liked it betta for a start, I lost interest outta nowhere… My Rating: 3.8

14. “Time For The Kill”
>>> I think it’s time for a feature; too many of these just-you songs in a row are gettin’ kinda boring… Tha hook sounds more interestin’ wit dis “kill” shit in “time”. My Rating: 3.6

15. “Down Here (Remix)” Feat. Lil’ One The Champ
Finally, a feature, but why a remix to a former Young Ready collab? >>> Still sounds good but I rather hear Young Ready, since One’s aight… My Rating: 4.3

16. “Survivor”
>>> Scary ending; why? Not bad wit tha rappin’ and tha song, overall, ain’t too bad, either. You have a good mind when it comes ta motivation. My Rating: 2.8

Overall: Even though a lot of tha production wasn’t my type, I think I liked this CD, overall, mainly thanx to tha collaborations. I have ta say, to you and F.O.C.U.S. Entertainment, keep doin’ ya thang!
