Review #864: Ronny My "IV Da Homies"

Reviewed on 3.04.2011 (Review #864)

Tha 12th review I have on deck fa today iz Ronny My “IV Da Homies. Unfortunately, it didn’t download when I tried ta download it from DatPiff. So, I had ta rip tha whole thing… Start Time: 9:46 PM | End Time: 10:13 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Neva Took No 4 A Answer”
I thought you make real Hip-Hop? Shouldn’t you know dat before a vowel, it’s “an”, not “a”…? >>> Tha beat actually sounds interestin’ fa me, in a way, for a non-Louisiana-soundin’ beat. Oh, E.P. doin’ dis beat, lol. Tha hook’s pretty good; I like tha shit you spittin’ on it. I reviewed a lotta wack shit earlier today; this iz actually betta than dat! My Rating: 3.8

02. “Point Proven”
>>> Anotha good, non-Louisiana-soundin’ beat. Tha rhymes are consistent, here; likin’ dis betta than tha joint I just heard. Wit dat bein’ said, you know you got shit on lock, in a way! No hook? My Rating: 3.9

03. “SomeWay, SomeHow”
LOL @ tha capital letters… >>> LOL, sounds like a random person/baby throughout tha beat, at times? Tha rhymes are somewhat-good. What’s up wit tha mysterious voice in tha hook? A lil’ mysterious and random… My Rating: 3.6

04. “When Speakers Talk”
>>> Tha beat intro sounds catchy. This iz decent fa me; I dunno what ta say. Iz there a feature on this? There’s none listed. My Rating: 3.3

05. “Late @ Nite”
>>> Don’t like tha beginning wit a sample and this boring, sample-soundin’ beat. Random: lol @ tha “hittin’ high notes like Mariah can;” gotta give Mariah her props! My Rating: 3.4

06. “I Don’t Need You”
>>> Anotha beat dat doesn’t sound like somethin’ for me. This ain’t too bad of a song… My Rating: 3.1

07. “All Da Same”
>>> Sounds a lil’ catchy fa a New York-soundin’ song. Tha rhymes are somewhat-catchy, here. My Rating: 3.5

08. “If She Caught Us 2gether (Cheater’s Anthem)”
Looks like a good title. >>> Tha 1st few seconds didn’t sound like a beat for me but then, it switched to somethin’ betta? Oh no, a sample comin’ outta nowhere… Not a song fa me but good perspective of bein’ in tha middle of a ‘cheatin’’ situation. My Rating: 3.7

½time: A 3.5-rated CD, so far; betta than some of tha shit I reviewed earlier today, though.

09. “I’m Not Cocky”
>>> Good Jadakiss sample. This, for me, iz aight; looks like you got a good, non-cocky perspective, lol. My Rating: 3.8

10. “Just Do You”
Perfect advice; how will you make it into a song? >>> Tha beat intro’s gettin’ me a lil’ anticipated… Tha hook’s official fa those tryna stay on their grind; definitely “do (yourself)!” I think this iz an interestin’ song, overall; good job, here. My Rating: 3.9

11. “Man We On Now”
>>> Marvin Gaye in tha beginning; what’ll this turn into? Tha hook sounds either motivational and/or mainstream wit its repetitiveness. Tha rhymes are pretty-good; I like how tha beat blends Marvin Gaye’s song. My Rating: 3.7

12. “Don’t Speak”
>>> Ooh, a remake of No Doubt “Don’t Speak” on tha sample; wonder who produced dis? Definitely caught my attention immediately. Good rhymes and tha beat stays interestin’ throughout your rappin’. I like tha cool shit you spittin’, too. My Rating: 4.0

13. “Livin’ In Da Hood”
>>> Sounds like anotha sample goin’ on, here, in tha beginning. This iz a pretty-good, calm-soundin’ song fa “da hood.” I like tha rhymes you got goin’ on here, too; definitely nice wit what you comin’ wit. My Rating: 3.7

14. “What Am I Gonna Do”
A title wit all tha words connected? I’ll fix dat… >>> I heard dis before, like a real long time ago. Damn, talk about a real long time ago (tha sample)…; an okay song fa me… My Rating: 3.4

15. “How We Supposed”
>>> Sounds like good, calm music… Ooh, tha hook got good wit tha “good weed in tha air!” My Rating: 3.6

16. “Don’t Turn Around”
>>> Tha really old sample sounds pretty-good fa you, here; how will it go fa a song? Pretty-good, overall, includin’ tha rhymes. My Rating: 3.6

17. Shout Outs (Outro)
>>> Just about six minutes, here; how much you got ta say? You almost sound like Guru (R.I.P.) wit tha voice, here. Good, long list of shout outs! My Rating: N/A

Overall: I thought this was a pretty-good mixtape; not as good as tha previous one but nothin’ wack, here.
