Review #846: Box "LSU (Louisiana State Underdog) Vol. 2"

Reviewed on 3.03.2011 (Review #846)

Next up, my boy Box “LSU (Louisiana State Underdog) Vol. 2! Start Time: 11:11 AM | End Time: 11:32 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Power”
I’m assumin’ this iz gonna be a mixtape fulla jacked beats; lemme prepare myself… >>> At least you’re good at rappin’, so it ain’t too boring fa me. Ooh @ tha “pounds of marijuana” shit outta nowhere; go, Box! Nice job wit tha consistent rhymes! My Rating: 4.3

02. “Over”
Don’t really like when people rap on dis or this dude’s beats… >>> Good “I’m on tha Dean’s List” part; honored-Box, lol! Feelin’ tha Baton Rouge-soundin’ lyrics to dis, too. Tha rhymes are catchy as hell, too! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Blue, Yellow, Purple”
LOL! >>> SMH @ tha original hook except your part; could’ve done a betta job wit dat! Thought this would be a lil’ catchier but it’s not bad… My Rating: 3.7

04. “Out Tha Frame” Feat. Level
New song? >>> Ooh, EQ on tha beat—“Middle Finga Production!” LOL @ tha “Beat It” sample and how this sounds; interestin’… Ooh, Level on tha feature, soundin’ catchy as fuck, regardless if there’s no energy in his voice this time, lol! Tha hook’s catchy wit tha both of y’all; dumb shit, Box, ya feel me? LOL @ how you’re comin’ through on tha 2nd verse; crazy shit fa tha ladies, Box!! Keepin’ tha consistency goin’ wit tha 3rd verse; you definitely needed it, Box!! My Rating: 4.7

05. “Cutlass, Regal, Monte” Feat. Suge
>>> LOL, back ta tha jackerz, lol… I’m still likin’ your content, here. You know how ta make a song catchy, regardless of tha beat! Tha featured person ain’t too bad, either; sounds like he blends in wit you… My Rating: 3.8

06. “Girls Dem Suga”
>>> LOL, unlike all tha 2010 beats, you took it back ta 2000 wit dis classic (lol, no change in tha title, too) and when I started developin’ my music taste. “Ass like Minaj”? No, “tits like Kim,” Box, ya dig? Remember: we’re in 2000, right now! Very consistent wit all these rhymes!! My Rating: 4.1

½time: So far, you have an interestin’ mixtape here, even wit tha jacked beats!! You’re lookin’ at a 4.1, currently!

07. “Spread My Wings” Feat. Mouse On Tha Track & X-Fyle
LOL, glad this iz here! Iz this tha clean version? I played dis on my radio show when Big Fancy died, in honor of tha “wings” content! My Current Rating: 4.4

08. “Women Lie, Men Lie”
LOL again… >>> Thumbs up ta tha “Nirvana” line, lol. Not bad, here; too bad for tha original hook. My Rating: 3.5

09. “Swagga To Tha Ceiling” Feat. Badd Nooze
>>> An X-Fyle-produced track? Thought it was a Birdman song, at first, but it’s not bad for tha start. Ooh, “Badd Nooze wit (you)”? This should have improvement later on! This iz decent wit you rappin’; we’ll see if it picks up wit Badd Nooze! LOL, Lem on tha 2nd verse, doin’ his thang, helpin’ you out. Even though some of tha rhymes are typical, he gives dat extra touch to tha track. This may not be tha kinda song Spitta would be on, but his voice iz tight ta add to tha quality of tha song. Still a lil’ typical wit tha rhymes, even though they’re more X-rated. My Rating: 3.7

10. “Mill Ticket”
>>> LOL, sounds pretty catchy, here. I might’ve liked tha jacked songs from earlier in this mixtape a lil’ betta. But, you’re keepin’ tha rhymes comin’ wit dis, too. My Rating: 3.8
EDIT: Lookin’ at tha Word file attached and I found out dat Ceddy B produced dis!

11. “In Cold Blood”
Nice title… >>> Good rhymes; I like how you handlin’ dis beat! My Rating: 3.9

12. “Straight Up” Feat. Byou2ful
Produced by Tre Virdure, who’s known ta not really be for me at times. Looks like an N.O. connection… >>> Tha beat sounds a lil’ betta fa Tre, here. LOL, tha “straight up” almost sounded like Paula Abdul, lol; not bad, so far… You’re dedicated; pretty-good song… My Rating: 3.7

13. “Real Thang”
Endin’ it wit a Mouse production!! >>> Sounds like tha perspective I’d get wit dat “Top Notch” production by Joe. Because of tha anticipation from Mouse, I feel dat I should have more interest in dis… Tha lyrics are definitely nice; glad you do “keep it trill!” Not really too crazy on tha hook’s sample but it flows nice at tha same time. My Rating: 3.8

Overall: Of course, you know what it iz, Box! Nice job wit dis shit; keep doin’ ya thang!!
