Review #756: Kane & Abel "Back On Money"

Reviewed on 12.26.2010 (Review #756)

Time ta get back to these reviewz. First up today iz Kane & Abel “Back On Money; lookin’ forward ta hearin’ dis. Start Time: 11:24 AM | End Time: 12:36 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Intro
Tha beginning of a 2010-Kane & Abel! >>> Sounds like a white dude in tha beginning; weird and funny! My Rating: N/A

02. “Big Shot” Feat. Yung Joc
I think this was one of tha singles that leaked online a while ago. Not sure how hot it iz… >>> It sounds hot wit dis production. Has a “White Tees”-type flow on tha hook; I’m likin’ dis. Tha one thing I didn’t like was tha commercial dat aired on MTV Jams; they spelled Max Minelli’s name completely weird. I don’t remember how weird it was but I was like, “WTF @ that error airin’ on TV!” Sounds like a pretty good 1st verse from Joc, surprisingly, lol. I guess ‘cause dis iz pretty good music… Tha 2nd verse sound pretty cool; good shit here… Tha breathin’ in tha beat’s background sounds like my boy Q-Red outta BR although I don’t think y’all know him… Not bad on tha 3rd verse; a lil’ mainstreamish but this iz an overall jam for me. My Rating: 4.3

03. “When I Want To” Feat. Bun B & Mouse
Looks like anotha jam, Southern style! >>> Definitely sounds like some good Louisiana production! Reminds me of—oh, it’s Mouse! Perfect, dat’s who I thought it was! He’s even on tha hook here, doin’ a REAL NICE job on tha production!! What a catchy hook, especially tha 2nd ½ of it; crazy shit here!!! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty cool; definite plus here! Here’s tha 2nd verse: Bun B, doin’ a nice job, too! I like tha “rabbit do tha bunny hop” 3rd verse, lol. My Rating: 4.5

04. “Super Clean” Feat. Lil’ Boosie & Max Minelli
Ooh, feelin’ tha Baton Rouge connections here! >>> Sounds like anotha good song. Oh, I remember now: this was dat song dat aired on MTV Jams durin’ tha five-year anniversary of Katrina! I had no clue who it was but when I heard Max Minelli, I was like, “wow, Max’s on MTV Jams!” I thought tha song was, like, years old (e.g., 2006) but it made it here, 2010 style! Too bad it didn’t not play on MTV Jams anymore. :( Nice job on tha 1st verse; good shit! Boosie’s on tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good. What’s wit tha “dick” part cut out but it’s a dirty version? Tha 3rd verse iz pretty good, keepin’ it consistent here! My Rating: 4.3

05. “D-Boy Dope” Feat. B.G.
This looks pretty tight; let’s hear it!! >>> Ooh, more hot production!! Sounds like Max Minelli in tha background again? Maybe not. Tha hook’s DEFINITELY nice! You know what it iz in a Louisiana perspective!! Tha 1st verse iz pretty nice as far as tha flow and tha shit goin’ on! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too… B.G. on tha 3rd verse, spittin’ dat TIGHT, STREET SHIT!!! My Rating: 4.4

06. “So Fly” Feat. Juelz Santana
Different vibe here; what do we got? >>> Now, it sounds like “Wasted” as far as tha beat style. LOL @ tha “shit yea”; we’re in New York as far as this perspective, lol. Not bad wit Juelz on tha 1st verse… Nothin’ dat would really excite me but it’s interestin’ ta see a different collaboration here and there. Tha hook’s a lil’ odd wit how it sounds but not too bad. Tha 2nd verse sounds good from y’all, representin’. Not bad wit tha 3rd verse, either. My Rating: 3.9

07. “Pop Fa Me”
Looks like it gon be a good Bounce-type song! >>> Ugh, no; sounds like watered-down, Pop/Rap-type bullshit. :td Was waitin’ for Auto-Tune ta come out so I could instantly skip it! My Rating: 1.6

08. “ESPN Ho”
LOL… >>> At least it’s a Mouse-soundin’ production once again! :tu Tha 1st verse has good shit related to tha title; good shit! Tha hook sounds even betta; definitely catchy to tha fullest! Keepin’ tha 2nd verse goin’, too… Tha 3rd verse’s keepin’ it goin’, also, ya dig? Good subject. My Rating: 4.2

½time: Excluding #7, we’re on ‘n’ poppin’, right now, wit dis CD! Y’all got a 3.9 for tha CD rating, currently!

09. “Take A Trip” Feat. A-One
Interestin’ collab!! Maybe y’all do know Q-Red based off my miscommunicated-comment earlier in tha CD! >>> This iz definitely somethin’ nice! Wissel a FOOL wit dat hook!! Good thing “[Mouse’s] on tha beat” once again ‘cause y’all goin’ off on dis! Tha 2nd verse has a gay cliché that I’m sick of hearin’ ‘bout tha “hop up out tha bed” shit. :td But, tha rest of tha verse’s pretty nice. Catchy shit on tha 3rd verse from A-One; sounds like he wants ta be bigger like it’s nothin’? I dunno about havin’ a too-far-in-advance perspective but it’s still a pretty good verse. Regardless, you can get bigger… as long as you send me your CDs in tha mail! My Rating: 4.3

10. “Shawty So Thick” Feat. Slim Of 112 & Steve O
Anotha different collaboration… >>> I’m likin’ how dis beat sounds and tha hook’s pretty interestin’ wit tha screwed voice, lol. Tha 1st verse’s pretty good wit what’s goin’ on here. This sounds like a real tight club anthem fa tha ladies; I know dey’d go crazy ova dis! Tha rest of dis shit’s pretty good… My Rating: 4.2

11. “Flash Out” Feat. Max Minelli
Almost looks like tha last song ta me, lol. >>> Why iz Max Minelli NOT sourced again? That sounds offensive!! He doin’ a pretty good job on dis hook! At least he ain’t soundin’ gay like #7! Not bad on tha 1st verse… It kinda sounds like Max’s spittin’ on tha 2nd verse (then again, y’all voices sound nearly tha same)… I don’t think it’s him, but not bad, regardless. Tha 3rd verse’s keepin’ it G, too… My Rating: 4.0

12. “Cinematic” Feat. Slim Of 112
What could this be like? >>> Ooh, feelin’ tha Technoish sound effects in tha beginning! Sounds like tha beat finna be slow, though. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ hot, still… Tha keys on tha piano are definitely nice and tha rappin’ goes wit it. This song also features Slim Of 112; what’s wit tha missin’ features? :confused Not bad wit tha 2nd verse, either… My Rating: 3.7

13. “She Needs Me” Feat. Bobby V
I don’t think I’ll be big about dis… >>> It’s not too bad; tha hook’s pretty good. Tha production’s pretty nice here and it sounds like y’all doin’ a pretty smooth job on tha verses. My Rating: 3.8

14. “Lemme See Ya (Whop Whop)”
Looks pretty catchy on tha title; will dis be Bounce-flavaed? >>> Hot beat intro and tha hook’s pretty nice, too! It almost sounds like Max Minelli on tha hook again but I know it’s y’all. Pretty nice job wit tha 1st verse, supplyin’ tha ladies. Tha rest of this shit works just like tha 1st verse. “Keep goin’ like a Duracell,” lol! My Rating: 3.9

15. “That’s My Life”
A lil’ longer on tha length here… >>> Tha production sounds like some good, Southern shit. It’s a lil’ slow but hopefully, it ain’t depressin’. Oh no, not this kinda hook; already heard 10 years ago wit T-Bo havin’ a song wit this Phil Collins flow. Either way, I do like it… Tha production’s definitely holdin’ down tha beat in a good way! Tha 2nd verse sounds like a lotta great offers; good shit… Tha 3rd verse has good lyrical shit goin’ on and tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse’s keepin’ it goin’, too! Damn, tha ending’s, like, 81 seconds long? I like hearin’ tha beat and all dat but it’s a lil’ too long… My Rating: 4.3

16. “That Pressure”
Pretty-cool title. >>> Sounds catchy, too. Ooh, this iz an anthem; likin’ tha title part! Tha 1st verse iz nice, too. Sounds like dis joint’s breezin’ by… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad although toward tha end, it sounded like “Flex” and kinda scared me wit really likin’ dis too much… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad although this iz not soundin’ like tha best-kinda song ta really, really like. My Rating: 3.6

17. “Grind Mode”
Time ta end it… >>> I’m likin’ dis; nice production! Nice job wit tha 1st verse and tha hook’s DEFINITELY on ‘n’ poppin’! Definitely feelin’ tha “trap” contents as well as how y’all makin’ dis be a consistent jam! Damn, tha beat sound at 2:55 came outta nowhere, lol! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: I really liked tha Baton Rouge-styled production here and there; definitely a surprise! LOL @ no “Get Rite Juice” song from ’08; guess dat was too old, lol? Thought I’d see dat on here but it’s all good; those are GR8 memories in tha past. Keep up tha GR8 work, guys!
