Review #766: Mizzle & Khaliel "Bottom To The Top"

Reviewed on 12.27.2010 (Review #766)

Here goes my 2nd review for today: Outta Baton Rouge, a group I’m not familiar wit, Mizzle & Khaliel, wit Bottom To The Top. Accordin’ to tha back cover, all tha songs were produced by Mizzle, himself. Start Time: 10:28 AM | End Time: 11:07 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Bottom To The Top (Intro)”
>>> Not too bad but I have a feelin’ dis production ain’t gonna be fa me… Tha rappin’ sounds pretty good… This was pretty good for an intro and not bad, overall. Well, tha last 40 seconds sounds gay; will be sure to deduct! My Rating: 2.9

02. “Fame” Feat. Young D
>>> Not too bad on tha beat but nothin’ I’d really luv. Pretty good 1st verse… Even though tha hook’s a lil’ gay fa me, I kinda like it in a way. Pretty scary but whateva. My Rating: 3.2

03. “Clutchin’”
Question mark, lol? Looks interestin’. >>> This sounds a lil’ betta; catchy hook right here, ya dig? Good shit; definitely an interestin’ topic. My Rating: 3.8

04. “Lessons”
>>> Not bad on tha production. Tha 1st verse’s spittin’ some aight shit although tha flow’s annoyin’ me a lil’ (can’t deal wit mainstream flows). This seemed short… Oh, anotha verse… Sounds insecure wit tha voice ‘cause it sounds like there’s a bit of A-Tune or somethin’ in tha voice… My Rating: 3.1

05. “Real Deal”
>>> This tha kinda beat that deserved an announcement of “Mizzle [bein’] on tha beat” ‘cause it’s pretty good. Tha hook’s nice; good shit. Ooh, tha 1st verse’s pretty good wit tha fast rhymes! I really like how tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ wit tha “blunts” and tha way it’s bein’ delivered! Nice shit here; must be tha best song on tha CD? Tha 3rd verse’s pretty good, too… My Rating: 4.2

06. “Panty Line”
What could this sound like? >>> I’m likin’ tha production but it sounds like there’s a lil’ bit of gayness in tha vocals once tha hook starts. Luckily, you can’t hear it too well. Tha 1st verse ain’t too bad… Not bad wit tha rest of this, either. My Rating: 3.0

07. “What Is The Problem” Feat. Wild Willow
>>> Tha beat sounds pretty familiar. It almost sounds like “So Cold” that DJ B-Real produced for Doe-Doe. Tha rappin’ throughout each verse and part iz pretty catchy; feelin’ tha content here. My Rating: 3.7

08. “It’s On”
I guess tha apostrophes turned into question marks on tha back cover. It might’ve been ‘cause you copy/pasted from Word ‘cause Word’ll do that, I think. >>> What a gay start; I can’t deal wit dis… I’ll give some credit fa tha beat but sorry, no A-Tune fa me! My Rating: 1.7

09. “Keep The Haters Mad” Feat. Eazy Stackx
>>> Ooh, a fast, Hurricane Chris-type vibe! This sounds pretty good but smh @ tha “swag” shit. As far as tha verses, they ain’t too bad. Sounds like y’all havin’ fun. LOL, a random female on tha 2nd verse—or, iz dat a dude, lol? My Rating: 3.5

½time: So far, this CD iz valued at 3.2 for me; will it go up or down later?

10. “Thru The Struggle”
>>> SMH, you gotta prove a different style? That’s what everyone wants ta do; can’t be like everyone else! Tha beat ain’t my style but tha rappin’s pretty good. Oh, that sample in tha hook’s pretty damn gay! My Rating: 2.8

11. “Anything You Like” Feat. Bread & D Get ‘Em
>>> Think I finna skip; lemme hear a few more seconds… Yea, no A-Tune fa me! My Rating: 1.0

12. “Pass Out” Feat. Young Nick
>>> What in tha world was that beat tag in tha beginning? Sounded like it was a completely different song, stopped, and resumed into a different song; how weird! How come everyone has beat tags? This iz decent… Kinda good but I’m not gettin’ anything new outta hearin’ somethin’ I could hear from anyone. My Rating: 3.3

13. “Quite Like You” Feat. Treehead
Might skip ‘cause Treehead’s on this. >>> Yea, not bothered. My Rating: 1.0

14. “In My System”
>>> Much betta here… “Play ‘A Bay Bay’ again”? Kinda yucky… But, at least dis a jam. My Rating: 4.1

15. “Roller Coaster”
>>> Pathetic, slow start. I really can’t deal wit this slow, mainstream flow, too. My Rating: 2.2

16. “Flash Out” Feat. Young Nick & J Cage
>>> Again, betta production. Y’all sound somewhat-funny in tha beginning. Tha hook sounds pretty nice. I think I like tha “In My System” song betta, though. I don’t get tha “gun” shit; sounds obsessive. Pretty-good jam once again… My Rating: 3.9

17. “Wishful Thinking”
>>> Again, mo bullshit it sounds like. I thought you produced every song? Why was there anotha tag? Anyway, was gonna listen a lil’ longer but Daniela “You & I” just came on so I finna enjoy dat and skip dis A-Tune shit! My Rating: 1.0

18. “In Guns We Trust”
ROFL, why ain’t it on tha back cover? >>> Sounds betta; why tha changin’ from bad ta good all tha time? Tha content’s not bad. I thought I’d hear anger or somethin’ since it’s about “guns”… My Rating: 3.4

19. “Take You Home”
>>> Tha intro’s pretty gay; guess we’re back ta bullshit. Tha beat’s a lil’ betta, since it’s on a faster level. Sounds like it ripped off Kardinal Offishall/Akon “Dangerous”? Not bad on tha 1st verse but that hook’s real gay! My Rating: 2.0

Overall: Tha start was, just, decent but it got pretty bad once I kept hearin’ gay-ass A-Tune!
