Review #788: Curren$y "Pilot Talk"

Reviewed on 12.28.2010 (Review #788)

My 11th review of tha day: Curren$y “Pilot Talk! Start Time: 10:19 PM | End Time: 10:41 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Example”
>>> Although a somewhat-different sound fa me, this sounds pretty good, I guess ‘cause tha quality. Sounds like a good verse; consistent rhymes here. My Rating: 3.8

02. “Audio Dope II”
You know what it iz! >>> Sounds like a pretty-good slow beat here. I’m likin’ dis… Sounds pretty good wit how you’re comin’ through on this slow beat! My Rating: 4.1

03. “King Kong”
>>> Ooh, here comes tha hot production again!! Ski Beatz doin’ all tha beats, I see, lol? Good shit! Feelin’ what you got here; “King Kong” sound at times, lol! I like tha hook; “King Kong ain’t got shit on me;” you know what it iz! My Rating: 4.4

04. “Seat Change” Feat. Snoop Dogg
A bigger feature here; let’s see what’s up wit it. >>> Interestin’ about a gurl losin’ “her seat,” lol! Tha beat ain’t too bad but it sounds like your rhymes overshadow it. LOL @ Snoop; he doin’ a nice job wit tha flow, lol! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Breakfast”
Mmm, lol; will it be better than tha “Lunch” song from before? >>> I dunno about better; tha beat start sounds pretty good wit tha instruments used in it. Feelin’ tha shit you spittin’ here ‘cause of tha consistent flow; you know how ta capture peoples’ attention! My Rating: 4.1

06. “Roasted” Feat. Trademark & Young Roddy
>>> Sounds like a calm-soundin’ beat. I like tha rhymes…; good job wit tha collaboration. Tha hook ain’t too ba—ooh, “high off dis purple shit;” you know what it iz! Yay, you comin’ through wit some tight “shit,” lol! Feelin’ your attitude as well as what you’re bringin’ ta dis track. Tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ good, too; once again, all y’all a team! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Ooh, 4.2 on tha CD rating, right now; you’re slowly continuin’ ta move up!!

07. “Skybourne” Feat. Smoke DZA & Big K.R.I.T.
Ooh, a lil’ bit of Wu-Tang here; how will dis go? I know it’ll be good! >>> Usually, dis izn’t tha kind of mainstream music I really like but for some reason, I’m likin’ it now… I like your “aquarium” shit; interestin’ rhymes once again! Tha 2nd verse sounds decent; not too bad… Tha 3rd verse iz much betta; tight flow and consistent shit goin’ on! My Rating: 3.9

08. “The Hangover” Feat. Mikey Rocks
Interestin’ title/topic. >>> Tha beat ain’t too bad but I’m likin’ dis hook/topic; good shit. Sounds like there’s a lil’ bit of extra BPM here and there wit tha beat; good shit… Tha dude from The Cool Kids (Mikey Rocks) iz on tha 2nd verse, helpin’ you out here. I like his “tropics” shit; I wish for good weather and not this 0 – 20-degree shit! Damn, what character this dude has on this track, lol! I like tha smokin’ part but lol @ tha “piss” part! My Rating: 4.2

09. “The Day” Feat. Mos Def & Jay Electronica
>>> For some reason, I ain’t mindin’ this non-Louisiana-soundin’ music. This has a pretty-good undaground sound to it and tha collaboration looks serious. I really like what you spittin’ here; definitely some interestin’ shit! Very interestin’, lol! Sounds like Mos Def comin’ outta nowhere here, doin’ a nice job wit tha “out-on-tha-field” rhymes! What a hook, lol! Switchin’ up ta Jay E on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ good, too. My Rating: 4.2

10. “Prioritize” Feat. Nesby Phips
>>> This ain’t bad as far as tha beat but you got tha rhymes on lock once again! Good job recruitin’ Nesby for tha feature ‘cause he doin’ a nice job, too! My Rating: 4.0

11. “Chilled Coughphee” Feat. Devin The Dude
Not sure if it’s a stupid question but what’s “coughee”? >>> Oh, “coughphee” (a “PH” was missin’ in tha ID on my iTunes info), lol! Once Devin came through on tha 1st verse, this definitely became some pure quality!! Really felt how he came through wit tha drug-related, feel-good-type shit, lol! You’re doin’ a not-so-bad job on here, $y. I think Devin took tha show, though, lol. My Rating: 4.3

12. “Address” Feat. Stalley
Looks like it gon be a jail-related song. >>> Very consistent wit tha rhymes once again!! You neva know what Curren$y gon spit, lol! “Ain’t nothin’ change but tha address;” catchy hook. Stalley almost sounds like a younger-Jae Millz on tha 2nd verse, doin’ a nice job wit tha spittin’, too. My Rating: 4.3

13. “Life Under The Scope”
>>> Beat start’s pretty good and what a great way ta start tha 1st verse: “my weed lit.” Good shit here; feelin’ your rhymes once again! You know how ta set tha topic straight! Tha hook’s pretty good, too; real shit! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: This one was better than tha last; you keepin’ thangz movin’!!
