Review #1,624: Rated X "X Marks The Spot"

Reviewed on 2.03.2017 (Review #1,624)

Smh @ work, again! Gotta stay focused with these reviewz and get ‘em over with! Let’s just hope I work myself to tha bone, here! Here goes my review for Rated X X Marks The Spot, released in 1997 on Total Respect Records! Start Time: 2:30 PM | End Time: 2:58 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro (Got ‘Em)
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ alarm clock or somethin’ in tha background, here; nice and trippy… “X Marks The Spot;” definitely! My Rating: N/A

02. “Day 4 Day”
Ice Mike on tha production, here… >>> Beat’s definitely pure and this sounds nice, on tha hook! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good wit this gangsta shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good, once again… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty good, here, as well; diggin’ tha gutta rhymes… My Rating: 4.5

03. “Knuckle Head Bitch” feat. Tim Smooth
Ice Mike, once again! >>> A lil’ calmer with tha beat, here; not bad… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent, here… Almost thought it was Lauryn Hill in tha background of tha hook…; I believe it iz? I thought that song she did with Nas was tha year after? I’ono, but that’s what it sounds like, ta me… Tha hook sounds decent; let’s keep it movin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s cool; can’t complain… It almost sounds like a search goin’ on? Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ nice… My Rating: 4.0

04. “It’s Like Dis”
DJ Lil’ Daddy on tha beat… >>> Smooth lil’ beat, here; not bad… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ decent… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ okay; let’s keep it goin’… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ aight; just keep spittin’… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and this G-shit’s nice; good job… My Rating: 4.1

½time: I think this good; a lil’ on tha decent/good side, here, for a 4.2-rated CD, currently…

05. “Measure The Pain (Radio)” feat. Ghetto Twiinz & Threat
Ice Mike, here, but no original version…?! >>> Decent beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s aight; gotta “play” life by tha minute! Tha hook’s a nice effort wit tha Twiinz on it; crazy life we live in! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice to keep this movin’… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ decent… My Rating: 3.9

06. “It Don’t Matter 2 Me”
DJ Lil’ Daddy on tha beat, again… >>> Tha hook straight, while tha beat pretty nice fa tha undaground…; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ straight, too… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad, here… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ like facts, as far as what tha future has to offer for ya… Yeah, thinkin’ ‘bout it’s pretty intense; gotta live it up! My Rating: 4.2

07. “Soldier”
Ice Mike, here… >>> I’m diggin’ this funky sound, here; nice hook and beat! It’s all about bein’ dat “soldier!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like a good way to get through tha life in tha hood, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and I’m diggin’ tha faster-soundin’ rappin’ on this verse, here… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it decent, here… My Rating: 4.0

08. Bomb Dedication
>>> Just an outro, here? Beat ain’t bad… Hearin’ what’s said and it’s straight…

Overall: This CD did pretty well, as far as a review goes… I just mainly thought it was decent, tho… Tha producers and features kinda helped it succeed a lil’ more, but yeah, mainly decent, here…
