Review #1,664: Disturbed Young Hustlaz "Homies N My Head"

Reviewed on 2.28.2017 (Review #1,664)

Disturbed Young Hustlaz Homies N My Head iz my next review, released in 1998 on G-Money Records & was produced by Infamous! Gotta congratulate myself this month ‘cause I reviewed at least one CD a day, this whole entire month! That hasn’t happened since nine Februarys ago, back in February 2008! Neva thought I woulda had enough time to re-create tha history! Happy 34th day in a row of reviewin’ a CD, too!! Start Time: 7:32 PM | End Time: 8:35 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Diggin’ tha anticipatin’, N.O., undaground-soundin’ beat, here… Good lil’ intro, y’all! My Rating: N/A

02. “Homies N My Head”
>>> I guess it’s tha hook, but this reminds me of my radio show that I used to have, back in ’09 – ’12… Hearin’ tha hook and I like how tha undaground beat sounds, wit this screwed voice! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, with anotha nice-soundin’ verse fa tha Gz! And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, as well… My Rating: 4.3

03. “Shoot’em Up”
>>> Sounds good wit this hook, here; definitely feelin’ tha eerie beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice fa da gangstaz, once again…! And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice ta hear from y’all… Definitely feelin’ tha eerie vibe throughout tha whole track! Really enlightens tha whole mood for me to embrace this shit! Fast-ass rappin’ on tha 3rd verse, here; classic-soundin’ delivery, here!! Long-soundin’ hook, here, with all tha different wards shootin’ ‘em “up!” Also, dope-ass beat outro! My Rating: 4.8

04. “Runnin’”
>>> Jammin’ shit, here, wit tha beat and hook! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ pretty nice, here; good shit! Must be pretty intense “runnin’ from tha police,” ya know? And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice; can’t complain… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice… My Rating: 4.3

05. Radio Station W.D.O.P.E.
>>> Sounds good, wit a slow beat in tha background… My Rating: N/A

06. “Blow It Up”
>>> Sounds nice, here; dope hook wit tha blowin’! “Blow it, light it! Blow it, light it!” Definitely dope! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like y’all holdin’ down this semi-No Limit sound, here! Funny ‘cause y’all just said, “We ‘bout it, ‘bout it,” just like tha song! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ decent, as well… And, tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, here, as we keep it movin’… My Rating: 4.2

07. “Guerilla Pimpin’”
>>> Sounds like a nice way ta kick off tha 1st verse: “I only think clear when I drink beers…;” good shit, so far, on a semi-laidback level… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s still on a decent level, here… And, good rhymes comin’ through on tha 3rd verse, here, keepin’ it movin’… Luvin’ tha “guerilla” part in tha hook, by tha way, lol… My Rating: 3.9

½time: Sounds like a dope CD, here! Y’all really got this undaground shit on lock in a pure way, fa tha N.O.! A 4.3-rated CD, here; we gon keep it movin’!

08. “Depressed”
>>> Luckily, tha beat ain’t too depressin’ and sounds a lil’ nice… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s good; too bad “New Orleans got [y’all] depressed!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty good, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, here… My Rating: 3.8

09. “‘Bout Dat Paper”
>>> Sounds more like a playa’s jam, here, wit tha production… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good; mix of flow speeds? Nice… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, here, as y’all keepin’ y’all hustle up… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, here… Diggin’ tha line, “Got 99 problems but one of ‘em iz not a bitch!” This was five years before Jay-Z’s track! Wonder where he got it from? And, a 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice… My Rating: 3.7

10. “Nothing To Lose”
>>> Sounds like a better beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like some good, undaground, upbeat rap, here… Sounds like a nice hook, here, as y’all keep tha motivation up! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ dope to continue, as well… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, as well… My Rating: 3.8

11. “Keep It On Tha Lokee”
>>> Sounds like a better, darker, undaground-soundin’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice… Workin’ our way to tha 1st verse, here, and it sounds nice ta hear… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, keepin’ it movin’… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, as well… My Rating: 3.9

12. “Born Alone, Die Alone”
>>> A slower beat, here… Sounds like a sad-type song? I can feel tha hook, here, as far as all tha loneliness, sadly… Even tho I still struggle with loneliness, at least I can hang out err-day! With that bein’ said, tha 1st verse sounds decent, here… Anotha verse, here, keepin’ it movin’… Kinda feels like some of these tracks are kinda long, but tha eerieness in tha beats keep my interest up, a lil’… And, one final verse, here, soundin’ decent… My Rating: 3.5

13. “Drug Free”
>>> Tha beat sounds nice, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s catchy wit how y’all sound on it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all spittin’ about this “drug-free” topic’s nice, here… And, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty nice, too; diggin’ this sound… Got tha 3rd verse, here, and it’s pretty nice wit how y’all keepin’ it movin’, here… My Rating: 4.0

14. “Disturbed Young Hustlaz”
Endin’ it with a self-titled track? >>> Sounds nice wit this sound and 1st verse, here! “Seafood gumbo;” mmm! Which kinda “gumbo” will I be enjoyin’, next month? We’ll see!! And, y’all keepin’ it movin’ wit tha rest of this, too! Somethin’ special in tha beat’s vibe, here, sounds nice ta hear… My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Tha 1st ¼ of this CD was pretty dope and then, it became more on a decent/above-average level… I also think some of these jointz were a lil’ too long, too… Either way, I thought this was a dope release!
