Review #1,654: C.M.N. "Bulletproof Vest"

Reviewed on 2.18.2017 (Review #1,654)

Feels like it’s been a minute since I reviewed, but I haven’t stopped! I been reviewed at least a CD a day since January 26th and it continues!! Here goes my review fa C.M.N. Bulletproof Vest, outta Shreveport, released in 1998 on Port City Records & was produced by Artist, Maestro & Marcus “Polo” Palmer (except #05, which was produced by Dale Lynch & Marcus “Polo” Palmer)! Start Time: 2:25 AM | End Time: 2:53 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Bulletproof Vest”
>>> Sounds like a smooth track, here; not bad with tha 1st verse, beat and hook… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, as well… Tha rest of this decent, but a lil’ slow… Why 6:14 fa an opening track? My Rating: 3.5

02. “Last But Not Least”
>>> Sounds like a catchy hook, here, even tho anotha soft-soundin’ beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like a good lil’ West Coast vibe, here… Tha 2nd verse iz soundin’ decent, too, just keepin’ it movin’… I like how it’s a shared verse on tha 3rd verse, here; good shit… My Rating: 3.6

½time: Decent two tracks, so far, even tho a lil’ too soft, fa me, wit this production… A 3.6-rated CD, so far…

03. “I’m About To Blow Up”
>>> Even more soft-soundin’ beats, here… It ain’t bad, on tha 1st verse, but it’s too soft-soundin’… Gotta feel tha street content, tho; just too soft-soundin’… Tha hook sounds catchy but it’s so calm… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and dude sound like he remakin’ shit, in tha flow, at times… More comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent, as always… My Rating: 3.7

04. “You Don’t Know Me”
>>> Anotha soft-soundin’ track, here; next…! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s decent; hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s tha same as tha other tracks’ flows/beats… I literally don’t need ta review tha rest of this; I keep writin’ tha same shit! My Rating: 3.2

05. “Lyrical Homicide”
>>> Even more soft production! As always, decent flow, nice street content… Tha hook sounds like it flows in a catchy way; nice lyrics, here! Surprisingly, this may be my favorite track off here! However, no tracks were rated a 4.0, tho! My Rating: 3.8

Overall: I wasn’t really into all tha soft production; coulda been less laidback? Tha street content was nice wit tha lyrics, but that was about it… Still, nice ta have undaground music that doesn’t try to sell out, at least!
