Review #419: Chill Will K "All About Chilling"

Reviewed on 5.03.2010 (Review #419)

It’s… THA SHAKE BACK OF THA LOUISIANA REVIEWZ MARATHON!!! Finally feelin’ free enough to get back inta this!! Wanna get a bunch of this music onto my radio show so lemme continue! Here’s tha next review in my marathon: From 1995, it’s Chill Will K “All About Chilling! Start Time: 7:53 PM | End Time: 8:46 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “What’s Going On”
Lemme figure out “what’s goin’ on” here… >>> Sounds like a good, fast beat here mixed wit a good 90’s style! Tha rappin’ DEFINITELY sounds like some good Louisiana shit I hear in tha undaground and this iz 15 years ago! I don’t have much feedback about tha hook but it fits good wit this song. Kick-ass rhymes started off tha 1st verse and they start off tha 2nd verse too! Definitely feelin’ it and it’s cool dat you said, “bruh,” ’95 style, on here! Interestin’ 3rd verse about “people dyin’ ova tha cocaine.” My Rating: 4.5

02. “#1 Moms”
What could this be? >>> Soundin’ slow for an intro start… I wonder what it’ll turn into? These kinda songs usually sound like they fit for tha end of tha CD/tape; wasn’t expectin’ this this early in tha tape. I guess pretty good rhymes for tha 1st verse… Did you lose your mom or somethin’? Based off tha lyrics, dat’s what it sounds like… You sound like you was a good boy back in tha dayz (when you were “12”), “cleanin’ up” and shit. Tha 3rd verse was pretty good too… Not really a kinda song I would typically listen to so I will offer a lyrical rating for it. Lyrical Rating: 4.2 | My Rating: 3.6

03. “Goodtimes”
Looks like it’ll sound “good;” lemme hear… >>> Sounds pretty old Soul here in tha beginning wit tha beat… I hear you talkin’ ‘bout your “mom” in tha intro here so you DEFINITELY have luv… Tha hook here has singin’ like tha last song but I think this one sounds betta; definitely. Tha 1st verse was good; likin’ how you spittin’ wit a pretty paced flow. Lots of shit bein’ spit in tha 2nd verse here; you got a good head on your shoulders wit this Rap shit! Nice job wit tha 3rd verse too; quick verses wit these songs. My Rating: 4.3

04. “Huslers & G’s”
Ooh, a more gangsta title here! Let’s see what’s good! >>> I hear a typical sample in tha beginning and tha pacin’ iz pretty good! Now, I hear you rappin’ and I hear different Bounce sounds in tha beat! :tu This iz DEFINITELY some tight-ass shit here! Tha streets’ must’ve been FIENDIN’ FA DIS back in tha dayz!!! REAL NICE 1st verse and tha 2nd verse basically continues from where tha 1st one left off! LOL @ tha “black-eyed peas” part. Fa a second, I thought it was tha “Black-Eyed Peas,” but I don’t think they existed back then, lol. Sounds like there’s a 3rd verse on this (not much of a hook fa me ta tell); once again, very consistent! I finally hear a hook at tha end, lol; good shit! My Rating: 4.6

05. “It’s All Good”
Most definitely, I agree! >>> On a laid-back tip and I’m likin’ it. LOL @ tha 1st lyrics: “Laid-back;” lol @ my jynxin’! Cool, real-life lyrics here, as I’m picturin’ just “comin’ to ya house,” ya dig! This song fits tha album title; thumbs up! More interestin’ lyrics in tha 2nd verse; feelin’ this girl’s “Girbauds!” Thumbs up ta them bein’ around back in tha day! I wish I could see a 90’s picture of Girbauds! REALLY lookin’ forward ta addin’ all this music to my iPod (gonna add it once I’m done wit tha whole entire marathon)! I really like tha line in tha 3rd verse, “I don’t need ‘ice cubes’ in my ‘iced tea’!” Dat line gave me a thought about Ice Cube and Ice T; good shit!! My Rating: 4.3

06. “For My Hommies”
Looks like it’ll be good! >>> Feelin’ tha laid-back intro once again! This time, it sounds like it’ll be “for tha car?” Well, I’m hearin’ it and it sounds like your vocals are really low. I don’t know how much I’ll be able ta understand so I’ll give it a shot… Well, kinda hard ta hear but it sounds like you’re either dealin’ wit pain (in your voice) or just chillin’. I don’t really have any other feedback about tha rest since it’s hard ta hear… Wish I could be able ta hear tha lyrics betta…; I have ta deduct fa dat. My Rating: 3.3

½time: This tape’s off ta a gr8 start! I’m enjoyin’ how you’re comin’ through wit dis Louisiana Rap shit! Keep tha shit goin’!! You have an average CD rating of 4.1 right now!

07. “Break ‘Em Off”
Afta tha last song, will your voice increase again? >>> Yes, it did. This iz a pretty laid-back/uptempo beat. Tha 1st verse’s good and tha hook sounds good; nice and Southern! Tha 2nd verse good too; givin’ a good vibe here, ya dig! I thought there would be a 3rd verse wit tha 51 seconds remainin’ but whateva… My Rating: 4.0

08. “Save Me”
I dunno what I’ll think of this one… >>> Okay, I’m likin’ tha laid-back start and I’m enjoyin’ this set of laid-backness! Interestin’ start to tha 1st verse wit “seein’ a note;” drawin’ attention strong! This iz more lyrical but I like this one betta than tha “Moms” song. And speakin’ of tha “Moms” song, you just mentioned your mom on tha 2nd verse, lol. Pretty good verses so far and now, I’m up to tha 3rd verse. It sounds like you’re viewin’ a future of “when you’re gonna die?” Pretty raw… However, you got “fresh Girbauds and a fresh polo,” so you DEFINITELY tha shit, ya dig! My Rating: 3.9

09. “Big Money Junky”
Cool lookin’ title and almost five minutes on tha length! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ this one!! >>> A lil’ more uptempo here. Kinda low wit tha voice again but you have a pretty good flow on here wit your rhymes so dat’s a plus. Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty good also wit your catchiness; keep it up! Lookin’ forward ta this 3rd verse! I hear tha 3rd verse now and I’m just luvin’ tha catchiness wit tha consistent rhymes! I’m feelin’ a 4th verse comin’ up… Shit yea, a 4th verse! More on tha gangsta tip here; good shit! Keep this shit up, my boy! Gotta luv tha streetz and tha REAL representaz of tha streetz!! Definitely, tha 4th verse was tha best on this joint! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Same Ole Click”
Good “click” or bad “click”? Lemme hear what you got ta say here… >>> Sounds good fa what it iz so far; luv my undaground music! Good job wit tha verses here, as you got tha streetz on lock once again! Tha last verse sounds best once again wit tha hustle-type lyrics. So really, it’s a “bad click,” as you’re “tired of dat same ole click;” I gotcha. My Rating: 4.1

11. “Holy Moly”
You’re shocked? Let’s see why! >>> I like dis beat intro; sounds anticipatin’ fa a joint only three minutes long! Ooh, this has a NICE old feel to it! Cool hood lyrics here as you’re DEFINITELY comin’ through wit tha good/tight rhymes! DEFINITELY enjoyin’ you and these songs right chea, my boy! My Rating: 4.2

12. “Chill Out”
Gr8 lil’ ending title here; let’s see how we’re gonna end it wit a “chill out”… >>> Definitely not too “chill” on tha tempo here, lol. Likin’ tha uptemponess and it sounds like tha intro has a Bounce vybe to it. So, I guess this iz a whole joint dedicated to tha hoods, lol? Err-body “runnin’ this mutha,” lol. You shouted out “New York,” so good looks (originally a Long Island, NY representa)! Even givin’ a shout out ta “Louisiana,” ya dig! Now, you’re shoutin’ out people at tha end; good shit. Why tha 16 seconds of silence at tha end? My Rating: 3.8

Overall: Definitely impressive right chea, ya dig! Keep holdin’ tha streetz down if you still around, ya heard me! You have a gr8 lil’ tape here! Hope there’s more of you in my marathon (but I don’t know)…
