Review #1,475: YB "Dedication Of Honor"

Reviewed on 7.29.2015 (Review #1,475)

Been havin’ too many dayz at work and am in need of relaxing when I get off, so I haven’t had much of a chance to pop up and do some thangz… But, despite a really hectic day at work (had to babysit and be tha mother to, like, every-fuckin’-one!!), I just so happen to have tha opportunity to review! Sponsored by Forever Young Entertainment (F.Y.N.I.C.), here goes my review for YB Dedication Of Honor, produced by $hop With Ken! I have to point out that, what an unlucky day to release a CD! Just looked on LiveMixtapes and it says it came out May 10, 2015; damn! That was tha day my brother died! Worst day!! Aside from that, I wish I was fulla dat shit right now, especially with this stressful day! However, Pennsylvania sucks, iz fulla unpromising people and I won’t be able to holla at tha plug till I prolly go to NY, but at least it’s in a few dayz! Start Time: 6:57 PM | End Time: 7:48 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “$elfmade”
>>> Sounds nice with tha beginning/hook and you reppin’ “Baton Rouge, Louisiana;” great production fa tha sizzouth! Comin’ through on tha 1st verse pretty nicely with tha consistent, F.Y.N.I.C.-type rhymes! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it sounds pretty consistent, as well! Just gotta luv tha quality and how consistent you keep it with deliverin’ street rhymes from dat Boot! My Rating: 4.5

02. “Jumpin’ Back” feat. KB
Almost thought that was you on tha feature and I even accidentally wrote your name on tha feature, at first! >>> More nice, quality production here… Hearin’ tha hook from you and it’s pretty nice; keep firin’ at ‘em! A nice 1st verse, here, but blah, blah, blah-like with tha “bitch”-related shit. It’s like, less shit about “fuckin’ a bitch” from you sounds great. Either way, that’s way betta than that “money, money, money” bullshit err-body be on! Thank God we’re two songs in, so far, and not one “money” bullshit line! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, from this KB dude and he sounds great, just like how you come through wit it! Diggin’ his dark, street-soundin’ shit he providin’! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Birthplace”
Likin’ tha title; hope it pays off! >>> Really hot beat intro, despite bein’ very influenced by DJ Mustard (e.g., “Left, Right” by YG)… Wow, this really sounds like that song and “Thinkin’ With My Dick” (Kevin Gates & Juicy J) on tha hook, but it’s original production from Ken! Really diggin’ tha hook and this sounds catchy, just like a great 1st single from this CD! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it’s consistent with how you do it on tha beat! I can tolerate this “ass-shakin’” anthem and even tha money shit on tha hook! Damn @ tha 2nd verse; you don’t stop!! Just really diggin’ this anthem!! Nice job wit that bridge, or 3rd verse—whateva you wanna call it! Got a lot ta offer, here! And, nice beat outro ta end it off! Uh, damn, 45 seconds of silence at tha end? Random… At least it’s shorter, I guess, lol? Could possibly be somethin’ I consider for an add on my playlist? I’ono… We’ll see what mood I’m in, despite me fallin’ off from Louisiana, lately… My Rating: 4.8

04. “Raised In The Ghetto”
Le’hear it! >>> Much slower and laidback from tha last song… Hearin’ tha beat and it’s real nice; sounds like somethin’ from tha ‘90s that you’d get fulla dat shit to! Oh, weed, can you just appear, already?! Sounds like between tha nice hook and tha verses, everything blends consistently fa tha hood… Odd that I’m playin’ Cruis’n USA fa Nintendo 64 on my computer while reviewin’ this ‘cause it kinda reminds me of that with this beat, but also, feels like I could play some Tony Hawk Pro Skater! Ahh, Wednesday’s tha flashback day, lol? My Rating: 4.3

05. “Hit It Once, Hit It Twice”
>>> Really diggin’ tha Louisiana sound on tha beat, here! Definitely sounds like that great, intense style! Hearin’ tha hook and wow, looks like tha female songs are catchin’ on tha most fa me on this CD, despite my criticism, earlier? Catchy hook ova this beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I just dig how you consistently rap ova tha beat, as always! Wow @ only one verse; great fa quickly providin’ your consistency on tha tracks! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Get It How You Live” feat. T.Y. (of Jetlife) & Vintage Rippah
>>> Beat’s pretty nice, here, and you sound pretty nice on tha 1st verse… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s kinda a turn-off with this voice-effect shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from this Jet Life general and it sounds like I’m likin’ this beat much betta, now; diggin’ tha eerie sounds! As for tha verse, it ain’t too bad… Almost expected a terrible 3rd verse when I heard a screech before tha verse, but it’s not as bad as I expected… Well, maybe, at 3:13, it sounds gay with tha voice-effect shit… Hmm, ‘cause of so much voice shit, this gon have to fail to get at least a 4.0 rating from me. I almost let it slide, but tha 3rd verse irritated me, a lil’. Excellent bass part at tha end! Can just picture my brain goin’ loco while fulla a geeb!! My Rating: 3.7

07. “Loyal Fee”
>>> This time, with this slow tempo, I’m not anticipatin’ tha “bad bitch” dedication, here… Tha 1st verse’s aight; not bad… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s okay, but I’m feelin’ kinda jealous and shit, here, with tha content. Like, this one of those kinda songs that has me like, “Does everyone have ta have a ‘bad bitch’?” Bad enough that this one girl that I consider a girlfriend told me this morning that she “hung out till 4:00 AM with one of [her] friends…” Like, what?!? I been tryna hang out witchu fa months, even when I helped her out and my birthday passed! When I’m off, she ain’t wanna hang out! She go in at 8 when I’m off; 7 when she hang out till 4 AM? Gay!! Venomous girlz, ya know?! But, tha rest of this was ehh…; it was tolerable fa me… My Rating: 3.7

08. “Whip It Like Mitch”
>>> Beat sounds like a Migos-like tempo with how those beats kick… Kinda sounds like a random song on tha 1st verse… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s really random fa me; of course, a “tryna get rich” reference… And, only one verse here. For tha feedback I provided, looks like this iz just decent. My Rating: 3.2

½time: Started off excellent and then, kinda got decent. Either way, definitely feelin’ these beats, tracks and content for tha most part! Gotta luv when you be droppin’ dat music wit Ken, YB! Current CD rating’s at a 4.1! Let’s keep it goin’!

09. “Shout Out To My Plug” feat. Kenn Sonnier
Speakin’ of “plug”—oh, you’re gettin’ me jealous!! Could this be an excellent way to start tha 2nd ½ off? >>> Definitely diggin’ this; excellent hook that has me jealous in an anticipatin’ way fa my upcomin’ NY trip!! I might be doin’ a double NY trip in one day/night on Friday!! It’s like tha “weed” escape land!! Great job wit tha 1st verse, too; you got shit on lock! Didn’t really catch tha feature, since this went by so quickly! Only one verse, but it was worth it! My Rating: 4.6

10. “Traffic” feat. Ju$Dillon
I believe JusDillon’s name’s “Ju$ Dillon”? Various things come up in Google, but I might just go with “Ju$Dillon”? >>> Nice beat, here; excellent hook! Diggin’ tha whole “traffic in front of my house” shit on tha hook! Sounds real great ta hear, here; anticipation’s rising!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s fast rhymin’ with that great, drug-type shit!! Really feelin’ that 2nd verse; must be Dillon? Soundin’ like an excellent joint, altogether! Short and sweet fa three minutes!! My Rating: 4.6

11. “R.I.P. Who Next” feat. $hop With Ken
Ooh @ tha feature! >>> Nice beat with a 225, street-type vibe! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and that Ken? Surprise appearance on tha 1st verse; feelin’ how he comin’ through wit dat street shit! Nice lil’ hook from you, too, with how someone gon die “next!” However, every death’ll be like, “Whateva,” and, “Okay,” only ‘cause nothin’ will compare to me losin’ my brother two months ago! Shit’s too real; can’t compare!! As far as tha 2nd verse goes, it sounded pretty consistent! Ken did his thang on tha 1st verse and you continued right behind him! My Rating: 4.4

12. “Fuck Ah Nigga” feat. Scotty Cain
>>> Nice beat, here, and tha hook sounds pretty nice ta hear… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice! Then again, am I expectin’ only one verse again, lol? Regardless, this sounds great ta hear fa tha streetz and fa tha clubz, mixed together. My Rating: 4.2

13. “Lowkey” feat. Que Tha Truth
It’s “Tha,” like my name, according to tha “The” on tha back cover! >>> On a soul tip, as far as tha sample ta keep it “lowkey,” here… Lots of rappin’ from you on tha 1st verse, here; kinda random, but kinda tight… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds pretty nice; I’m diggin’ that repetitive title part. Now, tha 2nd verse from Mr. Que, here, comin’ through wit fast rhymes, as well; less random and still tight… My Rating: 4.0

14. “F.Y.N.I.C.” feat. Kenn Sonnier
I have to just make it clear, right now! If it’s one thing I love about ya, it’s this:
Gotta luv when you be shittin’ outta nowhere! You got such a great, street look to you, but when it’s time ta hit that toilet, you already know how ta express it! Gotta luv it!! >>> A DJ in tha beginning? Long lil’ angry skit in tha beginning… Ehh, really random but here comes tha song… Hearin’ tha beat and it starts off pretty nice and intense. Once again, on dat quality tip, as far as tha 225 sound goes! Hearin’ tha beginning from you and it gives me that nice, consistent vibe that you always bring to tha table, between your voice and tha beat! Tha hook sounds pretty nice, here; feelin’ it, of course! And, keepin’ it goin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, and this other Kenn dude doin’ a nice job, here! Feelin’ his urban style fa tha 225 and tha Louisiana hoodz beyond, lol! My Rating: 4.1

15. “Jungle” feat. Nunu James & Lahpopa
>>> Interesting beat and a really-catchy hook with whoeva’s on tha hook! Really luvin’ tha title part “wit de jun-gle!!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; flow sounds a lil’ laidback but tha vibe’s still pure! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this sounds pretty nice ta flow through; nothin’ much ta say… As I continue ta hear this hook, it makes me wish this was somethin’ bigger than just an undaground secret!! Keepin’ it goin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, and it’s still nice… Despite tha really-catchy hook, tha verses were kinda plain with tha voices and deliveries. But, it was still nice ta hear! My Rating: 4.5

16. “Savages”
Almost thought it was tha Five Knives song fa a sec. (same title)… >>> Nice beat start and overall, a dope beat fa tha streetz, here! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and these rhymes are consistent! Definitely diggin’ you and your consistent-ass! Just luv all these rhymes; you really know what you’re doin’ with tha rappin’, here! So consistent, and this tha longest joint on this disc, too (5:16)! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice; you got a voice that expresses shit in an excellent way! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too, but tha 1st verse was a lil’ betta, at times, with tha flow and lyrics… And, endin’ with a bomb! Fa over five minutes, I’m surprised this was only two verses, lol… My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Glad I finally got tha time ta review this and it turned out to be a great CD! Nice job, YB, and tha whole F.Y.N.I.C. click! Keep dat consistent Ken production comin’ along, dat consistent streetstyle of rhymes comin’ along, and dat consistent shittin’-on-‘em style comin’ along, lol!

R.I.P. Video #40: Sporty-T

Broadcasting from tha abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center's morgue in Kings Park, NY, this ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community, a special edition today.

Today, July 15, 2015, marks seven years since Terence Vine, known by his stage name Sporty-T, was murdered in his sleep, back on July 15, 2008. Vine was sleeping in a FEMA trailer on tha 5100 block of Painters Street in Gentilly, New Orleans, LA when unknown assailants toted AK-47's at tha trailer, killing Vine on tha scene. Sources say Vine was 39, but family members say he was 41 when he died.

In 1986, Vine was a part of tha New Orleans trio, Ninja Crew, alongside Gregory D & Baby T. They released tha 12" single, We Destroy, that same year on 4 Sight Records. In 1993, Vine released his first solo single on Big Boy Records, "Sporty Talk-N-Sporty '93", which lead to his debut solo tape, Jackin' For Bounce '94, in 1994. Also, in 1994, he released another tape, It's All Good. Vine founded his own label, Sporty Records, and released The Saga Continues on tha label in 1996, and Street Soldier (Respect It Or Check It), which he produced, on Big Boy Records that same year. Two more releases came outta 1997, when Vine dropped Still Goin' On '97 on Sporty Records and Chromed Out on Ruff Era Records. In 2000, Vine was tha producer for New Orleans group, Wet Boys, and their CD, Get Wet. In 2001, he released Look What I Got on Go Get 'Em Records and in 2002, his final release, A Brand New Day was released on Sporty Records. Tha label released fellow N.O.-y, Gert Town Red's The Caper Man in 2002, as well.

Review #1,474: Lil' Boxx "HustleVeli: Grind Motivation 101 (Hosted by Big Jay, Pyrex Radio)"

Reviewed on 7.14.2015 (Review #1,474)

Got a long-awaited review I finna do, right now! Pretty exciting day, as I got fulla dat shit with my girl earlier in tha day, so you know today’s on point!! Thought I was gon be nice and high durin’ this review, but tha plug still at work; it all good, though! But anyway, we gon have an exciting review, here! Sponsored by Big Faces Entertainment, I finna review Lil’ Boxx HustleVeli: Grind Motivation 101 (Hosted by Big Jay, Pyrex Radio)! I had been connected with Boxx since March 5, 2009, tha 1st day I smoked! He’s always been loyal and neva been a bitch, unlike 95% of tha music biz I’ve dealt with! Boxx hasn’t released a mixtape since 2009 and his Bring The Pain Vol. 2: Word Of Mouf disc; a lotta evolution has occurred since! I haven’t had a disc out since 2010, so when I drop mine, you’ll see a ton of evolution! Think: I wasn’t even drivin’ to places on my own, yet! But, until that moment comes, lemme go ‘head and review you! Start Time: 8:26 PM | End Time: 9:44 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. “Who I Am”
And, looka! This was what my debut single was called! Glad it’s your opening track to this new CD of yours! Production from someone by tha name of A Wizzle, here! >>> Sounds a lil’ on tha gutta side, here; pretty nice start! Definitely diggin’ this beat, especially when it adds a G-Funk-y sound to it around :42! “CVS… GPS… PBS… see me stress;” real nice!! You really killin’ it with tha rhymes, here!! I love how your voice sounds a lil’ different, here, like you’ve grown! Can’t imagine what mine gon sound like tha next time I record a track! I haven’t recorded a new track since I’ve worked, but I’ve been freestylin’ a lot betta, these dayz! “Sharper than a harpoon;” whoo! Really killin’ it ‘round tha 2:00 mark!! Such consistency at its finest!! Excellent openin’ track, pickin’ up right where we left off witchu!! “Roamin’ like a data plan;” you really killin’ it wit these non-stop rhymes!! “Ah, you know!!” My Rating: 4.7

02. “I’m Back At It”
“Ah, you know;” already!! Jay Beatz doin’ this beat, here; leggo!! >>> Wow, this sounds like a much-betta intro track!! Definitely diggin’ this hook as it reminds me of tha older, great times of Baton Rouge music!! Really feelin’ this hook a whole lot!! You got tha holdin’ tha notes on lock!! And, daaaaaaaaaaaaaaam @ tha 1st verse; you really on fire!!! So much to devour!!! And, I feel your aggression on tha 2nd verse; can’t deny it!! Even when you randomly drop a few “money” rhymes or references, these rhymes and this aggression covers it up! Like, I don’t have to stare at tha speakers and be like, “Ugh, ‘money’ shit; boooooorrrringgg!!” You know?! My Rating: 4.8

03. “Errbody Know Me” feat. Lil’ Cali
Seems like a good flashback, right before I lost my cousin to heroin on December 14, 2011 and right around I got robbed $555 for tha 1st time. I was really obsessed wit Louisiana music at tha time, lol! My own music awards, my own mixtape compilations, my own radio show, ROFL! I had no life! And now, “errbody” I fuck wit in person are, like, 22, and I was 23 at tha time. They have more active in-person lives than I had! But yeah, still pretty hot wit Wodie On The Beat on tha beat! Just like how I said back in 2011, great beat, great aggression, “no introduction” needed & great job collabin’ wit Calitastic! LOL, Cali all obsessed wit “stacks” and shit on his verse. Since this was right before I first got robbed, I let it slide. But, if this came out now, I would’ve prolly been like, “Ahh, ear-bleeding!! No, no, no, Cali!!!,” ha ha! My Current Rating: 4.4

04. “Music Symbols & Dollar Signs”
Oh yeah, this nice one, too! Think I first heard it when I was already hired and its content was not ear-bleeding for me, luckily, lol. Like O did tha track, here! Still sounds like a nice lil’ money anthem for this generation of underground music… Of course, because DJ B-Real blocked me on February 5, 2014, there’s almost no more underground Louisiana adds on my playlist. If this would’ve been a few years older, it would’ve easily been a playlist add. Anotha thing iz no one gives me their music (music if I’m close witchu) or CDs on time, anymore, so it’s not like I want old music on my playlist! It sux that everyone raps about “money,” these dayz. Like, are we shocked that it’s 2015 and someone’s rappin’ about “watch me yuuugh” and all those gay dances from tha jigg dayz with “Watch Me/Nae Nae”? They need to have a jigg resurrection and bury all tha shitty “get money rap” bullshit in a ground fulla piss and asbestos! My Current Rating: 4.3

05. “Nasty” feat. Dre Chatman & Airee Renee
Looks like it could be an okay collaboration? Rich On Da Track doin’ tha track, here… Feels like I only see his name when it’s you or Nu$$ie, even when it’s 2015! >>> No intro needed; an okay hook—sounds betta than some of tha shit out now? Some of tha background vocals throw me off with tha stupid auto-tune and tha “gettin’ to this money” shit’s kinda like, “Why?” Either way, I don’t mind this… I think tha both of them singin’ on tha hook’s a nice way to collab! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse, here, and it sounds consistent; gotta go all in her! Could imagine when that day’ll be for me? “Errbody” gotta quit this post-ponin’/no-showin’ shit on me, first! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice ta hear with your grown self. However, I thought tha song was about gettin’ “nasty?” Had ta throw anotha “money” rhyme in tha song, Boxx? Hmm… My Rating: 3.7

06. “I Don’t Think”
Let’s see how you randomly “think” of shit on this one, produced by EQ! *EDIT* Damn, 0:00 on tha length? Tha file fucked up… Lemme go see what I can find… *Checks online* Lucky for me, I found a YouTube video! >>> This sounds real nice; luv tha hook! Excellent with how you rap tha hook wit tha beat sounds! Excellent-soundin’ track!! Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat consistency on tha track, once again; gotta luv your rhymes!! “Question my authority or assassinate my character…;” wow, real dope with tha 2nd verse, here!!! My Rating: 4.5

07. “Sick & Tired”
Kinda like a low-anticipated song title, here, but with EQ Tha Misfit on tha beat, it might make me like it betta? >>> Yeah, it sounds like a nice anthem with tha hook, here; nice beat, too! Kinda how I feel in tha music biz: “I’m sick & tired of…” tha music biz not showin’ me tha value I deserve! Like, why don’t I have tha likes I deserve? How come no one know what my life like, now? Nobody follow me in a true fashion! Proceeding, here comes tha 1st verse and you’re really goin’ off, here! Gotta have all dat energy! Quoting people at my job: “How are you so energetic?” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s just as good as tha 1st verse! “People changin’ on me…;” of course! Weird in my case ‘cause usually, it’s like, when niggaz be gettin’ money, they change on you! Well, I’m tha one wit a steady income, and almost err-body changed on me! Like, why? Tha music biz died in 2013! No more phones, no more luv; 2013 was tha music biz’s final year! And, B-Real blocking me really killed my Louisiana passion! So, a review like this iz hard to come by!! My Rating: 4.3

½time: Off to an excellent, consistent, grimy, 225-y start here, Boxx!! Just as I expected, but only betta! You are a perfect example as to why I be havin’ so much energy at my job! Immortal energy’s hard to come by when others are “tired,” you know?! You’re at a 4.4 for tha CD rating, currently; thumbs up!! Before I continue, lemme just flash back and see how long ago that Bring The Pain Mixtape Vol. 2: Word Of Mouf review was… *Checks* Ha ha, it was Review #313; that was 1,161 reviewz ago!!!

08. “No Luv”
Production from Grind Music, here (formerly just known as “Grind”, meaning, tha ChaYsuh “Grind”?); lookin’ forward ta hearin’ fa some reason… >>> Actually, my anticipation backfired at me; not feelin’ this sample and tha beat’s kinda plain for me, as far as a southern beat! Reminds me of you-know-who who robbed me that $555 in 2011! It reminds me of somethin’ they would make with this sample! However, you did a nice job with tha hook and your aggression… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s very consistent to where tha sample’s overshadowed by your tight, consistent rhymes!! “I chew a beat like a gusher;” holy, gushing!!! Ahh, here you go wit havin’ to throw a “money” reference on tha 2nd verse, here, off top… Uh…, once again, nice, consistent rhymes, regardless. And, a long beat outro with that sample… Uh, anybody wanna rob $555 from me now? Was a close call to whether or not I like this betta than “Nasty”, but I think I approve that one more. My Rating: 3.5

09. “No Pass” feat. General Mark
Yes, we have a new feature on tha feature! And, it’s an EQ-produced track, so I know this one gon go ham! Pay off, anticipation level!! >>> Almost thought it was K Camp “Lil’ Bit” on that first second of tha beat; nice tease! Sounds like a tight street anthem between your aggression and tha way this beat sounds on tha hook! And, at :28, it sounds like Mark made his debut with a quick lil’ appearance! Hearin’ tha title part and it was pretty nice; reminds me of anotha song that’s been out? Hearin’ Mark in tha background about niggaz bein’ “broke” or somethin’ and I’m thinkin’, “Oh, no, don’t be obsessed with money on tha verse!!” And, “no pass,” here, as far as waiting, since he’s on tha 1st verse… Okay, I give him credit; sounds pretty nice. He sounds like he’s got anotha great voice like yours. You sound all hyper and shit ‘cause you’re skinner like me, I believe? I bet he weighs more than you and has a lil’ slower flow ‘cause of that, lol, but it qualifies for quality! “Drop nuts like elephants;” large!! LOL, a bag of regular coffee beans was open this morning and I was like, “It’s like a pouch of a kangaroo bein’ extra pregnant,” or somethin’, lol! With that bein’ said, you got a consistent verse goin’ on here, Boxx, on tha 2nd verse; definitely nice!! Oh yeah, tha hook easily reminds me of Migos “One Time”! “Only tell you one time, only tell you one time. Only tell you one time, only tell you one time.” “You don’t get no pass, you don’t get no pass. You don’t get no pass, you don’t get no pass,” lol! Hearin’ you on tha 3rd verse and damn, you keepin’ this shit goin’ wit tha consistent, manual-depectin’ rhymes!! Nice beat outro, too; luvin’ this Louisiana version of Migos “One Time”!! My Rating: 4.6

10. “Came A Long Way” feat. Kevin Gates
Speakin’ of 1,161 reviewz ago, here we are again! LOL, back when my girl was only 16—what!!! Kevin Gates has paved tha way for us! Like, I neva thought a record label would drive to my house ‘cause they discovered that I blogged/reviewz Gates since ’08! Like, I’m in Mass Appeal Records’ magazine ‘cause of Gates! Tha magazine article’s out now: http://massappeal.com/doggystyle-frankie-tha-lucky-dog/
Luv life!! I celebrate all tha time!! But, to make this one short and quick, pure production from Rich On Da Track, here, and you got tha verses on lock with tha catchy, Baton Rouge-livin’ rhymes! And, with Gates on tha hook, it’s definitely somethin’ to embrace! This was right before he got arrested in ’09 and when I talked to you, you explained, “I only wanted Gates on tha hook ‘cause when Game had Lil’ Wayne on ‘My Life’, he only had Wayne on tha hook. I wanted to create somethin’ like that;” you did a nice job wit that! My Current Rating: 4.7

11. “They Hate It” feat. Samuel Maurice
Got anotha newbie here, with PK Beats on tha beat! Lemme see… >>> Kinda sounds like a bullshit, mainstream-soundin’ beat start, here… Beat kinda gets a lil’ interesting on tha hook, but still a lil’ poppy… Tha hook ain’t too bad, but kinda 1D with tha “they hate me” content… We got you on tha 1st verse and tha flow’s kinda catchy… “Neva fold like lawn chairs on Labor Day;” wow, totally from left field, lol!! Excellent lyrical skillz on tha 2nd verse!!! Can’t deny how much you can roll so much shit off your tongue!!! “Powerball like lottery;” lol, you know!! My Rating: 4.3

12. “Loyalty”
A1 Productions beat, here; lemme see what we got goin’ on… >>> Feelin’ tha beat start; sounds like it gon be some consistent, southern shit! Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds real nice! Like how you start tha hook off wit, “OMG, Heavenly Father…;” nice! Feelin’ you and this loyal street banga! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and, of course, you got tha consistency on lock, here!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice; definitely feelin’ what you bringin’ to tha table at all times!! My Rating: 4.4

13. “Lighters Up”
Let’s hear it, produced by The Dream Beats… >>> Feelin’ tha start, here, as you talk about “Mother Nature recreatin’ tha trees,” even though it’s about “money,” lol! And, you’re continuously goin’ on wit these consistent rhymes; definitely feelin’ ‘em! Wow @ tha 2nd verse, as well! Damn @ tha “preacher catchin’ bodies,” or whateva that comparison was! And, 1:05 on tha outro? Seemed like it flew by… My Rating: 4.0

14. “Courageous” feat. DJ Mario
Vyruz Beatz doin’ tha track, here, with a DJ on tha feature… Let’s see, despite anotha DJ hosting, lol… >>> August Alsina on tha hook? Kinda sounds like tha worst quality on this CD… Really not diggin’ this mainstream shit at all! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s good with your consistency; lemme leave it at dat! Tha last few bars of tha 1st verse was 100% quality with how you rambled so much off your tongue!! Tha 2nd verse sounds nice ta hear, too; good job… My Rating: 3.1

15. “Lying”
Same producer from tha last joint, here… Have a feelin’ this gon be bleh, but let’s see… >>> “We gon grind fa Instagram likes;” really, Big Jay? Sucks that “likes” defines how popular someone iz, smh! But, hearin’ this and this ain’t as bad as tha previous song. Tha hook ain’t too bad, but this beat and track seems too plain… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s real nice ta hear your consistent rhymes, once again. However, you could’ve rapped this on a Baton Rouge beat! “I’m outchea like open cleavage;” tit-tayz!!! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, too; can’t deny this… Neva would’ve thought “Britney Spears” and “Oops…I Did It Again” would come outta your mouth! Nice “lying” and “tiger to a lion” parts to compare, too, in tha hook! My Rating: 3.5

Overall: I thought you did an excellent job wit this CD! Most of tha production’s on point and you had some nice features, too! Your undeniable energy can’t be stopped and you know what you’re doin’ as far as stayin’ consistent! Glad you neva been cocky about yourself and have stayed true to bein’ connected wit me! That’s what’s up! Keep up tha grind!

R.I.P. Video #39: Racked-Up Ready

Recorded June 25, 2015, but released on July 8, 2015, in honor of Ready's birthday.

Broadcasting from tha treehouse in my hometown of Port Jefferson Station on Long Island, NY, it's FrankieThaLuckyDog here, reporting another unfortunate loss in tha Louisiana rap community.

Shannen Ve'Latrail Hudson, known in tha rap game as Racked-Up Ready (formerly Young Ready), was one of two victims murdered around 3:30 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in Bogalusa, LA. Hudson and 28-year-old Jare Stevenson, both from Baton Rouge, were inside a vehicle on City Limits Road when shots were fired, killing both Hudson & Stevenson instantly.

Hudson was one of Baton Rouge's most-known underground rappers, consistently releasing music for tha streets to embrace. Throughout his career, he had been managed by tha likes of Baton Rouge's J-Dirty & Atlanta's Tony "iAmThaConnect" Guidry. In 2006, he released his debut, Junkie Medicine (Cocaine Edition), on Grind Tyme Entertainment. In 2007, he signed with fellow Rouger, C-Loc's Camp Life Entertainment, releasing Break It Off! with Reno Da Gutta & Loc, himself. During 2008, Hudson was arrested for illegally carrying a weapon, and was released from jail on November 3, 2008. Shortly after, in tha spring of 2009, he released his 2nd CD, That's How I'm Coming, and in tha fall of 2009, released his 3rd CD, It Ain't No Secret. To jump-start tha 2010s decade, he kept tha streets full by teaming up with fellow Rouger, Savage, and released tha collaboration project, Self-Made Bosses. Later on in tha year, he left Camp Life and started his own label, B.O.W. Entertainment, releasing his 1st CD on tha label, High Profile, his 4th one, overall. His 5th CD, Goon Incorporated, was released in 2011; his 6th CD, Goon Related, was released in 2012. Family Ties, his 7th solo disc, was released in 2013, also on Baton Rouge's DJ Wookee's Crook Muzik Music Group. With tha scene changing and time surpassing, Hudson started goin' by "Racked-Up Ready" in 2013, signed with Dead Game Records, and dropped his 8th disc, Street Laws, during that summer. Hudson entered tha year 2014 in a quality/quantity fashion by dropping three discs: Street Laws (Reloaded), a Dead Game Records project called I-10 To I-95 Connection with tha Rouge's Lil' One The Champ & Malachi, and what was his final release, The Goon Division, with BR's Madd Marvin, D-Nic & ZC Juice. Hudson was in tha process of releasing Goon Brothers, a collaboration project with close Rouge friend, Mista Cain. Today, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, would've been Hudson's 32nd birthday if he was still alive today.
