Review #1,125: M.A. "The Rap Derek Lewis (Hosted by Jungle Records Radio)"

Reviewed on 1.19.2012 (Review #1,125)

Startin’ my day off wit a review for Jungle Records’ M.A. The Rap Derek Lewis (Hosted by Jungle Records Radio). This mixtape iz also mixed by Yankee Brim $lim a.k.a. DJ 2 Pistols. Start Time: 8:36 AM | End Time: 9:05 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “The Rap Derek Lewis”
>>> LOL @ tha short ‘host’ intro… Sounds a touch catchy wit how you’re comin’ wit this song… Once again, you sound like Jay Regal, in a family way, wit tha voice… Oh, only one verse, here? Good job wit tha outro/radio talk, at tha end; you say this a “promo disc”? Sounds more like a mixtape, for me; “free Bear”? SMH @ jail!! My Rating: 3.8

02. “I Just Wanna Rip”
>>> At least this mixtape has mixin’ in it… Rhymes sound pretty good; longer outro than song, lol? Kinda funny, but it’s always good ta hear some details. My Rating: 3.6

03. “A.C.T.”
Ironically, I’m studyin’ “ACT” framework for class, currently; let’s see what you got, here. >>> Of course, it ain’t tha framework, and more on what anyone can talk about. Oh, even though it’s an acronym, it’s more of a word, wit an acronym spellin’: “Watch me act a ass wit it;” I see… Sounds good, wit how everything sounds together; a “Q Black” production, accordin’ to you. Prolly could’ve added some more energy wit a song like dis… My Rating: 3.9

04. “Good Nite” (J.A.P.A.N.)
You already know. My Current Rating: 4.2

05. “Pose 4 Tha Mirror”
>>> Time fa an anthem for those “ladies” dat gon “pose 4 tha mirror”? Let’s see… Thought it was gonna be a lil’ soft, but it’s a good/okay song, overall; not bad wit tha hook… Rhymes also go wit tha hook; nothin’ bad ‘bout dis… My Rating: 3.8

06. Friday (Skit)
>>> LOL, didn’t expect a skit on this mixtape, for some reason (I guess since tha previous ones I reviewed didn’t have any); nice job wit this “garbage” (and I don’t mean negatively)! My Rating: N/A

07. “Up N Here”
>>> Sounds like an anticipatin’, Beat Flippa meets Nu$$ie-type beat, here; lookin’ forward! Kinda took a while wit tha beginning, but this sounds good. Still, might need more energy in tha voice!! Good job wit this club shit; I have ta feel it better than usual songs! My Rating: 4.2

08. “Ham N Dis Bytch” Feat. Dino & Bear
>>> Almost five minutes long, but let’s see what I can get outta this… Nice beginning rhymes; anotha hot club/good anthem. Even though there should be more energy in tha voice, this sounds good/shit I can tolerate… I don’t mind anyone’s rhymes, here; Dino’s on tha 3rd verse, so shouldn’t he be behind Bear on tha ID? My Rating: 4.1

½time: Above average, for me; 3.9 for tha current CD rating…

09. “Keep Smokin’” Feat. Jack (of Down Bad) & Pada
>>> A.K.A. Jack Da Rippa; I thought that’s who I heard in tha beginning… I was gonna say, at least it’s an attempt for a better feature than other CDs I previously reviewed, but most people are tha same wit their buzzes and shit. I like how Jack says, “Dat last gram I had? Psst, sold it!” You already know it’s ‘bout dis smokin’ shit! Was kinda worried ‘bout tha 7:12 length, but it ain’t bad. LOL @ when it says, “Man, I’m loaded in dis bitch,” ‘round 3:40, it sounds like I can hear pasting (wit hearin’ a sound effect before tha repeatin’). But yea, definitely a jam; you know dat Jack actually has more character and energy when he raps/sings! My Rating: 4.3

10. “On My Mind”
>>> Now, a shorter song; good transition, and it sounds like a song ta make you feel good ‘bout yourself. My Rating: 4.0

11. “Murda Man (Freestyle)”
>>> ROFL, I thought that first few seconds was my voice! It’s ironic ‘cause we’re textin’ right now! But, not a skit, but a freestyle, and it’s pretty gutta; from jail? Where this comin’ from? Good shit; oh, from “tha computer”? My Rating: 4.3

12. “Love In The Studio”
>>> WTF iz this long, pop/boy band vocals shit? Took way too long for me to hear your verse; not much interest for me… My Rating: 1.5

13. “Super Sick” Feat. Neno Tha Don
>>> Now, no beat, but it sounds good in tha beginning… Now, I’m hearin’ tha beat and lyrics; it’s more on tha ‘typical’, 2010s music structure, for me, so I can’t feel this too much. Really, only tha acapella freestyle caught my attention, in tha beginning. I also have to comment your “polo,” too, since dat shit’s nice. My Rating: 2.7

14. “From A Distance”
>>> At least this ain’t no long-ass, boring-ass song; it’s decent and short, tha way a mixtape track should be. Well, I dunno about tha beat, but this ain’t terrible, for me; at least you keepin’ tha rhymes goin’… My Rating: 3.2

15. “The Best”
>>> I don’t think I gon go for this; 4:31 on tha length, no less… Sounds a lil’ for a teenager, for me, wit tha lyrics; ironic for someone that’s older than me… I rather hear some X-rated rhymes, instead. My Rating: 1.6

16. “Spot Light”
>>> Not a good ending for me, wit this “throw up”/’I-sit-in-tha-house-everyday-dwellin’-on-makin’-a-friendship year of 2005 (“Down And Out” beat). Barely any interest, but now, you finally have better/consistent rhymes? Not too powerful of a mix, for me, unfortunately. My Rating: 2.9

Overall: Ehh, it was better in tha beginning, but took a nose-dive toward tha end; not every rapper can create this so-called ‘diversified’ Louisiana music.

Rankings:

15. “Love In The Studio” 1.5

Review #1,110: Stick Alley Boyz "Club Hitz"

Reviewed on 12.26.2011 (Review #1,110)

Time ta review Stick Alley Boyz Club Hitz; Lil’ P.A. iz in tha buildin’ wit this one… Start Time: 1:22 PM | End Time: 1:36 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. “Jigg’n Lik A Pro (Clean)” (Lil’ Rivers, Young Thugga & Drako)
Clean? Iz tha dirty version on here? *Checks* No; shit! Where’s tha “A” in tha title? >>> What’s up wit tha baby in tha beginning? Yea, I gon put an “A” in tha title. This iz pretty good, although tha hook sounds like white rap music… Definitely 0% lyrical, here, but it goes for a jam… My Rating: 3.7

02. “Oh Dey Like These (Clean)” (Young Thugga Feat. Lil’ P.A.)
Anotha clean version? Guess it’s good for tha radio show… >>> Oh no, gayness wit tha beat tag of Lil’ P.A. in tha beginning! Why can’t that whole thing be taken out tha song? Should be considered, “fuck, shit, shit, fuck;” you know, like, cussin’! Hook sounds a lil’ cool wit tha mysterious voice, on tha 1st ½ of it, and it still sounds good. Whoa, what’s up wit all tha “swag” shit in tha 2nd verse? I’d be more ashamed ta talk about that than tabs; learn!! Definitely a horrible 2nd verse; glad I’m not born in tha ‘90s! Lil’ P.A. ain’t too bad on tha 3rd—“goose in my cup”? I think I betta end this song, right now; I don’t buy teenage drinkin’! My Rating: 3.6

03. “Sickest In The Town (Clean)” (Grizey Feat. Neno & Lil’ P.A.)
>>> No, not a different beat tag—NO BEAT TAG!!! I feel like people are hella insecure if they gotta use a beat tag to tell their person they produced it. I don’t use beat tags; why can’t people be different? Beat has cool sounds, here, but tha vibe iz so boring; where’s tha energy? My Rating: 3.5

04. “She Act’n Bad (Clean)” (Lil’ P.A. Feat. Young Thugga)
My Current Rating: 3.9

05. “Rollin’ All Week (Clean)” (Lil’ P.A. Feat. Drako & Lady Di)
My Current Rating: 4.4

½time: Wow, only a 3.8 for tha CD rating? That’s good, but not tha excitement I expected…

06. “I Gotchu (Clean)” (Drako, Neno & Junior)
>>> How sour! Junior = Lil’ Junior, or someone else? Not for me… My Rating: 2.7

07. “Let Me Rock, Let Me Roll” (Young Thugga & Lil’ P.A.)
My Current Rating: 4.0

08. “My Baby Girl” (Young Thugga Feat. Grizey & Lil’ P.A.)
>>> I don’t like this beat tag, either. Plus, why iz this beat on a soft level? There’s some okay sounds, but even if you gotta use a beat tag (uh, I wanna throw up when I say, “beat tag;” where in tha fuck did dat shit start? How? When?!), at least make sure it’s a tight one, not sour or soft… Well, hearin’ it on tha verses and it’s okay, wit a lil’ slow tip. Tha rhymes are aight, but they’re soft! My Rating: 3.2

09. “Off Da Meter” (Lil’ P.A., Young Thugga, Stick Alley Red & Joy-Joy)
My Current Rating: 4.3

10. “Swagg On Maxx” (Lady Di)
>>> Fuck-to-tha-fuck-to-tha-fuck-to-tha-fuck!!! That 1st beat tag!!! Bad enough I had ta see dis dumb word, “swag,” in tha title; so far from my generation! No feedback; at least it ain’t a dude, though! My Rating: 1.7

11. “Throw A Stack” (Grizey, Drako & Lil’ P.A.)
>>> That fuckin’ beat tag again; why all tha insecurities? Insecurities!! Nearly every song on my iPod does not have a beat tag in it!! This ain’t that bad of a song, but what’s a “stack” ta you? Tell me tha truth! I neva had “a stack” ‘til I was in college! My Rating: 3.6

Overall: Hmm, not how I expected; only three songs were 4.0s or higher? Prolly gotta lay off tha typical, 2010s bullshit content that every single rapper talks about in every single song that comes out!

Rankings:

11. “Swagg On Maxx” 1.7
10. “I Gotchu” 2.7
09. “My Baby Girl” 3.2
08. “Sickest In The Town” 3.5
07. “Oh Dey Like These” 3.6
06. “Throw A Stack” 3.6
05. “Jigg’n Lik A Pro” 3.7
04. “She Act’n Bad” 3.9
03. “Let Me Rock, Let Me Roll” 4.0

Review #1,094: Lil' P.A. (Port Allen) "Play It How It Go Mixxtape Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 12.09.2011 & 12.26.2011 (Review #1,094)

My 2nd review for today iz my boy, Lil’ P.A., who can also go by tha name, Lil’ Port Allen. His new mixtape, Play It How It Go Mixxtape Vol. 1, iz from his label, Lil’ P.A. On The Track Entertainment (kinda long for a label name). Even though a few years younger than me, I hope this turns out to be really good, since Lil’ P.A.’s affiliated wit Macked Out Music! Also, thanx again for sendin’ me a hard copy! Start Time: 1:42 PM / 12:09 PM End Time: 2:30 PM / 12:28 PM
EDIT: Continuin’ tha review on 12.26.2011 due to I didn’t realize there were nine other trackz on tha actual hard copy vs. DatPiff! Also, thanx for tha feature IDs and tha track IDs on #s 11-19!

01. “Play It How It Go” Feat. Neno Da Don & Li’ T.C.
Startin’ off wit a joint tha size of 5:34? I dunno, lemme see what’s up! >>> Oh no @ a two-sentence beat tag… Of course, startin’ off wit a topic about money, but at least tha beat’s real catchy, wit its sounds. Have ta give you a big plus on this, bruh; really like how you always say, “dawg,” on tha hook. Really, your voice reminds me a lil’ of tha young Lil’ Wayne from tha ‘90s – 2003 dayz. Glad you went to “private school;” so did I, and I debuted with editing videos and making movie-like videos, back then! ROFL, who’s this “turtle” dude on tha 3rd verse, lol? Sounds like they came outta nowhere and they’re doin’ a nice job for a feature! Anotha feature on tha 4th verse; sounds like an even younger dude who says he ‘bout tha streetz and all dat? I refuse to do anything wit songs I don’t have enough information on, so prolly, when I get on tha phone wit you, I can get them features! My Rating: 4.6

02. “Watch Dem Niggas” Feat. Li’ T.C.
>>> Sounds like anotha unique production for tha 225; makes me really anticipate talkin’ to you and fuckin’ wit you more, ya dig? Luv your dialect/voice; you kick ass fa tha 225! Good street shit for tha hook, here; likin’ this topic, although I have a feelin’ tha previous joint gon be better, lol. Nice job wit tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some good shit, just like tha hook! Iz dat someone else on tha 2nd verse? Almost sounds like you, but I’m definitely feelin’ it. LOL, where’d all tha threat thoughts come outta? My Rating: 4.4

03. “Hardlife Struggle” Feat. Stick Alley Red
>>> Likin’ tha beat start for a title like this… Good hook; sounds like a nice, Wayne-type joint… Damn, not anotha random feature…; good job, even though I don’t know who he iz. I like how his attitude was like, “Suck on my nuts,” to prove dat he got tha “nuts” ta say dat, and do dis shit! My Rating: 4.3

04. “Flippin’ Stacks” Feat. Grizey & Neno Da Don
You forgot a “p” in “flipin’”; at least you got tha apostrophe, lol. >>> Just wonderin’, how do you have a “stack” to “flip”? Ain’t it kinda rough for an under-20-year-old? Anotha feature? How do you have all these mysterious people? Ain’t it hard to get someone to agree wit you, even a family member? I think tha 3rd verse iz, too? Okay song, overall; definitely above decent for me. My Rating: 4.2

05. “I Ain’t Gon Settle” Feat. Drako
Prolly “gon” but forgot tha “I”… >>> Really? “Six figures;” izn’t that a dream for someone in their 30s or 40s? “You want an album? Well, that’s a stack;” we’re identical? That’s what’s up; I charge $1,000 to produce a whole album, $100 for a beat. Catchy, good shit so far; lol, anotha feature? Too much money; whateva happened to not wantin’ money? Glad I don’t “want a bank roll;” I just wanna do my services for $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, etc., mainly. My Rating: 4.2

06. “Lil’ Ridiculous Gangsta” Feat. Neno Da Don & Grizey
>>> I like tha beat, of course, and tha content’s pretty nice for tha streetz. I like how you deliver this shit, but I hope I get to hear some attitudes and shit, instead of it soundin’ a lil’ calm… LOL, sounds like a feature on tha 1st verse? “Off tha porch since 15; in tha streetz wit a 9”? Really? Sounds scary… Glad I neva laid my hands on a gun, and haven’t seen one in almost four years! I like how you say tha title; almost sounds like a tongue twister or somethin’. Anotha random dude on tha 2nd verse; feelin’ tha attitude, here! Tha attitude makes me be able to feel it, a lil’. Don’t know who’s on tha 3rd verse but lol @ automatically assumin’ that people could “want it wit [you].” BTW, what’s “100 stacks,” accordin’ to y’all? It can’t be $100,000, right? That’s, like, either 40-year-old money, or where they save money for years and years and years and decades! My Rating: 4.3

07. “Dum Level” Feat. Drako
>>> No, not tha damn beat tag again! Finally, soundin’ a lil’ betta, though, since most of tha jointz kept decreasin’ slightly. Nice job wit tha hook, here; really likin’ tha beat! Damn, you “fulla dat Goose” fa under 21? Sounds a lil’ peer-pressured, as well as on “tabs,” too? Guess you prevented yourself from gettin’ picked on back in tha day? I think it’s an unknown dude on tha 2nd verse; don’t know where all this “money”’s comin’ from… Question: I thought I was tha only dude that would save “money,” vs. everyone else? My Rating: 4.4
EDIT: I think you cursed this song; don’t tell me to not remove somethin’ when you publicly have it in a song!

08. “Smoked Out, Ridin’” Feat. Drako
LOL @ this title; looks like it gon be a double verb, so I gotta add a comma in tha title. >>> Cool beat start; wonder what this gon exactly sound like? LOL, hearin’ some rhymes and I wonder, were you peer-pressured for dat “good killa,” too? Wonder where it started for you? Sounds good, though. Nice job on tha 1st verse; gotta keep tha smoke in tha air! Tha 2nd verse iz an unknown dude, luvin’ “smokin’,” too, lol? Like, did beatin’ a dick influence tha “smokin’,” or was it a typical thing? My Rating: 4.5

09. “Rollin’ All Week” Feat. Drako & Lady Di
LOL, thought it was gonna be somethin’ like “rollin’” a blunt, but I guess this iz anotha peer-pressured topic! >>> No, not tha beat tag again! Sounds real good; really, what influenced you ta start “rollin’”? Nothing offensive, but do you not do typical things? Different person on tha 1st verse; sounds good, fa what it iz. This sounds like a schedule; how do you actually have access and do this “rollin’” shit? You on tha 2nd verse? Sounds good, once again. A gurl on tha 3rd verse; lots of details about these pillz outta nowhere, lol. My Rating: 4.4

½time: So far, a nice mixtape; sounds more like an album, since nothin’ iz mixed? Oh, ain’t tha term “mixtape” played out, now? Currently, you’re at 4.4 for tha CD rating!!!! Based off your CD’s hard copy, I guess these features have ta do wit tha Stick Alley Boyz?

10. “Gotta Grind” Feat. Stick Alley Red & Neno Da Don
Endin’ it with… >>> No, not tha beat tag again!!! Sounds like some hotness goin’ on wit tha beat, as well as this “grind” attitude/topic/hook! I no longer am used to your voice, but I believe dat’s some1 different on tha 1st verse, soundin’ aight. Puttin’ a “9 to [their] face”? Where’d tha attitude come from? What tha hell? It just ended at 3:25? What happened to tha remainin’ 50-somethin’ seconds? My Rating: 4.2

11. “Is U Down Wit Me” Feat. Young Thugga
>>> “T-Slim on tha beat”? So, you didn’t do all your beats, huh? Long beat intro, which keeps me wonderin’/interested… You feel like this at a teenager? Not a virgin, lol? Not really my kinda song, here, since it sounds like automatic-cocky-type shit… You sound betta than Young Thugga wit your 2nd verse, here… My Rating: 3.8

12. “She Act’n Bad” Feat. Young Thugga
Sequel? >>> Gayness at its finest wit tha beat tag in tha beginning!! But, this iz definitely more jammin’ than tha previous song; this iz acceptable! Still, lol @ automatically assumin’ you’re not a virgin wit this content, at such a young age! Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ younger than you; you’re betta on this shit, again… My Rating: 3.9

13. “Fuck How You Feel” Feat. Grizey, Young Gregory & Neno Da Don
You originally dickrided Greg on tha feature by only listin’ him. Luckily, now that I asked, all tha others are here; let’s see what really happens. >>> Volume’s really low? Weird…; tha hook sounds good… Grizey on tha 1st verse? Even more dickridin’ goin’ on; now, I gotta move him to tha front of tha ID! Good job wit you on tha 2nd verse; let’s see if tha dickridin’ continues… (I betcha it does!!) Nope; good job from Greg on tha 3rd verse. This sounds like somethin’ from years ago, based off tha low volume and how everything sounds… Either way, nice job. My Rating: 4.2

14. “If U Got It On Yo Mine”
LOL @ “mine” for ‘mind’… >>> Sounds good; nice job wit tha rhymes and finally, no fuckin’ features!! My Rating: 4.3

15. “Off Da Meter” Feat. Stick Alley Red, Young Thugga & Joy-Joy
>>> On no, almost had my stomach turn once I heard tha beat tag… again… again… again… again… againagain!!! Tha hook sounds pretty hot and consistent, minus tha gayness of tha word “swag”! Sounds like a lot of fairytale rhymes in this wit all tha ‘gun’ content, but it’s still good… however serious I take this; tha 2nd verse sounds betta, a lil’ bit. My Rating: 4.3

16. “Let Me Rock, Let Me Roll” Feat. Young Thugga
>>> Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!!! This sounds good, but tha lyrics in tha hook (mainly, tha word “swag”) just ruins it! It’s gonna be a sad day, years and decades from now, to know that there won’t be anymore people that debut in tha rap game, born in tha ‘70s & ‘80s; that’s gonna suck!!!!! At least this joint ain’t long or anything; verses sound like a good jam. My Rating: 4.0

17. “Rolling” Feat. Lil’ Rivers
Please, no beat tag… >>> No, but off-beat hook?! Wow, keep tha weird games goin’… Lyrics are pretty good, when it comes ta tha “smokin’”/225 sound… Anotha nice length (ironically, 2:25); you sound good, just as Lil’ Rivers does! Best song from tha 2nd ½, here!! Wow, those beat sounds!! My Rating: 4.5

18. “My Demonstration” Feat. Drako, Dude Blitz & Neno Da Don
Return of Dude Blitz, here…; glad you know how ta spell that long word in tha title. >>> Beat’s good; hook’s good; verses sound pretty good, too; nice collaboration! I really like dat last verse goin’ on!! “Neno Da D-O-N!!” My Rating: 4.4

19. “I’m Gusto” Feat. Young Jack, C.H.O.P.A., Drako & Young Thugga
Such random features; how iz socializin’ easy for you, at such a young age? What was tha age you started to easily communicate wit people? >>> Sounds good wit tha hook and beat; nice and hot! Damn, bad start to tha 1st verse wit tha “swagger” shit. But, it picks up…; nice energy, overall! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: Turned out to be very good, overall; you get five stars from me ‘cause of your consistency. LOL, were you gonna get bullyed if you didn’t have a song without a feature? Funny how every single song had a feature in it, includin’ tha last song, which was cut… / Still fit good wit #s 11-19, but no longer a five-star CD for me…
