Review #1,916: Warren Mays & Da Posse "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now (See Me When I Get There)"

Reviewed on 12.28.2019 (Review #1,916)

Can’t believe I got anotha double-disc review, already…! Here goes nothin’: My review for Warren Mays & Da Posse Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now (See Me When I Get There), released in 1999 on Bomb Records!
Disc 1: Start Time: 3:25 PM | End Time: 4:31 PM
Disc 2: Start Time: 4:37 PM | End Time: 5:49 PM
Overall: Start Time: 3:25 PM | End Time: 5:49 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Too long fa a plain-soundin’ song…! Hearin’ tha 4th verse & it okay wit this calm flow; that’s it. A 5th verse, here; really? This track needs five verses? Before tha 4:00 mark, too! It’s okay, I guess… My Rating: 2.9

16. “Extra Extra”
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ sample of a catbell or somethin’ in tha beat, here; nice shit, includin’ tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; sounds good fa tha hood, here… What’s with tha really-long verse? R.I.P. Video #61: Pimp Daddy

Broadcasting from tha Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike, here in Wells Tannery, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community (special edition).

Today, April 18, 2018, marks 24 years since tha murder of Edgar Givens, known in tha undaground, Louisiana rap scene as Pimp Daddy. Givens was born in 1976 and was from New Orleans. An early artist signed with Cash Money Records, Givens released his debut album, Still Pimpin', in 1993. Lookin' like he had a bright future ahead of him, unfortunately, tha good times were short-lived for Givens. In tha Florida projects in New Orleans on April 18, 1994, Givens was fatally shot and killed at point-blank range. Many believe a musical love triangle resulted in Givens' death; Rodney Temple was charged with life in murdering Givens. During his Cash Money time, Givens was said to be dating labelmate, Ms. Tee. However, another labelmate, Cheeky Blakk, claimed that Givens was tha father of her child. Needless to say, Givens was in an argument with Ms. Tee's brother. That's when Givens was shot in tha face and killed at only 18 years-old. One year after his death, Givens' 2nd album, Pimp'n Ain't E-Z, was released in 1995.

Reviewed on 8.09.2017 (Review #1,751)

For my next review in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, it’s a compilation… The Greatest Rap Hits From Downsouth New Orleans The Real New Orleans Compilation, released in 1998. Since it’s a compilation, I’m not 100% sure which songs I done heard or not heard, due to I been reviewin’ these old CDs fa tha past eight years. I’m not gonna go too in-depth wit tha review; it’ll be quick… Start Time: 7:17 PM | End Time: 7:43 PM

Review #443: Pimp Daddy "Pimp'n Ain't E-Z"

Reviewed on 5.06.2010 (Review #443)

Let’s keep this HOT shit comin’ along!! Up next, it looks like an anticipatin’ CD from Pimp Daddy “Pimp’n Ain’t E-Z! Start Time: 1:31 PM | End Time: 2:32 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

02. “Gone But Not Forgotten” (B.G. Feat. Yella Boy & Tec-9)
Different people for tha 1st song on here? Let’s see what’s up wit dis MEGA collab!! >>> Cool beat fa a song like dis; B.G.’s startin’ dis shit off! Soundin’ good fa tha 1st verse here; gotta feel what B.G. spits, ya dig! Tha 2nd verse from Yella sounds pretty good fa what it iz; can’t complain. Tha 3rd verse was transitioned right away to Tec-9, spittin’ some FIYA-ass street shit!! My Rating: 3.9

03. “Shake It Like A Dog”
It’s now you, Pimp Daddy! This looks like a WILD-ASS title!!! How will it sound?!? >>> I hear bombs in tha beginning… Good sound right chea! Sounds GR8 on a Bounce beat like dis; good hook! Sounds like you’re havin’ fun on dis shit right chea, gettin’ buku “dogs shakin’,” lol. Tha 2nd verse sounds just as good as tha 1st verse; I like all this consistency wit tha rappin’! Cool lil’ flow on tha 3rd verse; you got a lot ta say here, lol! My Rating: 4.3

04. “Pimp’n Ain’t E-Z” (B.G. Feat. Baby & Mannie Fresh)
Tha title track and you’re not on it? LOL… I look forward ta hearin’ these dudes though! >>> Sounds pretty good fa a start. B.G. holdin’ tha beginning down to tha fullest, ya dig. Baby sounds good on tha 2nd verse; him and his drug lyrics hold him down on these tracks, ya dig! I also like how Baby holds tha hook down right chea; good shit. Wit only a minute left, here’s Mannie; what does he got? LOL @ “gangstaest;” good creativeness in vocabulary! A pretty good verse from Mannie right chea… My Rating: 4.0

05. “Ain’t No Nigga”
What’ll this be like? Glad you’re back, Pimp Daddy! >>> Sounds familiar fa tha start but I neva heard your music I don’t think… Only about 2.25 minutes long but you holdin’ it down on this Bounce beat wit your Bounce flow! Sounds like you’re holdin’ tha hook down; good shit. This was kinda short but I guess it fit good onto this CD. My Rating: 4.2

06. “Not A Game”
Agreed; hold it down! >>> Only 1:28 on tha length, lol? Sounds like singin’ in tha beginning… Not really a song but a message, singin’ style. My Rating: N/A

07. “Legend Live” (Yella Boy)
Let’s see what this iz about… >>> Tha beginning sounded a lil’ on tha sad side but a Bounce beat was added to it so it has life. Good rhymes from this dude right here; they’re gettin’ betta and betta as this shit goes on! Nice job holdin’ down a whole verse and there’s 1:01 remainin’ on this; sounds like an outro… My Rating: 4.1

08. “Bloody Body” (Tec-9 Feat. B.G. & Yella Boy)
This looks raw on tha title!! Lemme peep dis one out! FINALLY, a longer length of 4:47!! >>> Barely an intro needed here; kick-ass start though!! Real tight rhymes goin’ on here for tha beginning and tha hook, ya dig! Feelin’ tha gangsta style here and err-thang described about tha title! Afta dat tightness, B.G. hops on right chea, doin’ tha damn thang wit his gangsta shit! I like tha “turn you to crust-ah” line; raw shit! Yella Boy’s comin’ through nice wit his rhymes too on tha 3rd part here; DEFINITELY feelin’ this mega collab! I don’t know if it’ll fit but Tec-9 should spit mo shit on dis shit right chea! Damn, there’s like 100 seconds of a beat outro? What’s goin’ on here…? My Rating: 4.4

½time: This iz pretty good so far; I’m likin’ how there’s multiple artists on this CD at times. I look forward ta hearin’ more of what y’all got! Currently, y’all got a good 4.2 average CD rating!

09. “Let Me Know”
You’re about ta spit some game; let’s check it out! >>> Dat first second must be a beat tag or somethin’? I heard it again on tha beginning of this… Sounds like you got dis shit on lock wit your Bounce flow! Nice job wit tha “everybody smokin’ weed” part; you REALLY holdin’ this shit down right chea!! Glad you’re back on tha CD ‘cause you seem ta make tha betta jointz on here. Tha hook sounds cool; I like how you handle tha flow on this whole thang. Most definitely, you got catchy shit on lock! My Rating: 4.5

10. “R.I.P.”
Hope this sounds good fa its title… >>> Doesn’t sound sad; it sounds catchy wit your flow. Tha beat also gives it a positive perspective. You sound catchy also on tha hook here as you givin’ it a catchy vibe. Sounds like tha 2nd ½ of tha song has a lotta “R.I.P.” dedications; might be a lil’ too much… My Rating: 3.6

11. “Gots To Pimp A Bitch”
Hol’ it down, boy! >>> Slower on tha beat start here (compared to tha last joint). It’s aight fa a start but tha hook iz pretty catchy wit how you say tha title. Not much else goin’ on wit dis… I was about ta say tha endin’ was kinda too long again until you did tha “bRrrRrrRrRRRrrR!!” My Rating: 3.5

12. “I Got Them Birds” (Baby Feat. B.G. & Lil’ Ya)
I expect dis ta be good, ya dig! Gotta luv a title like dis! >>> Ooh, it’s a slow beat fa a title like dis! Baby starts this shit off pretty good; I like tha “shuffle” part. I’m hearin’ tha hook and it REAL NICE!!! REALLY likin’ tha “whaaaaat!!;” catchy-ass shit!! Ooh, I heard “huh bruh” in tha 2nd verse; tight fa tha ’95!! Tha 2nd verse DEFINITELY held it down pretty nice wit tha shit goin’ on, hood style!! B.G.’s on tha 3rd verse (lol @ a 3rd verse wit only 1:34 in so far) and he has some gangsta-ass shit he spittin’! Three verses down wit only ½ of tha song done, lol! Tha 4th verse iz here and it’s dat boy Lil’ Ya; he has a good mix fa this shit! I like how he deliverin’ dis shit wit his voice and all dat good shit; nice rhymes once again ta tell dis story! LOL @ tha 4th hook wit “yours” pronounced “yerz.” Anyway, Pimp Daddy, you’re dead (as Lil’ Ya just said)? Shit no…!! I didn’t rememba hearin’ ‘bout dat shit anywhere… I dunno… My Rating: 4.8

I like hearin’ ‘bout all these thangz goin’ on here and tha hook has a sample in how you’re deliverin’ it; good shit. You held it down tha whole way on dis shit right chea! My Rating: 4.3

14. “Keep On Kickin’ It” (Warren Mayes)
I believe dis iz anotha late rapper… Wit ova six minutes on tha length, let’s see how good he handles dis shit!! >>> Ooh, a nice, upbeat Lil’ Wayne “Way Of Life”-type beat! Tha hook sounds TIGHT wit dis tempo right chea!! Warren doin’ tha damn thang on dis shit to tha fullest!! REAL catchy wit tha “ooh, lil’ bitch-ass!!” Dat hook sounds HOT; Warren KNOWS how ta deliver dis shit!! Interestin’ “6-6-6, 7-7-7, 8-8-8, 9-9-9” shit around tha 3:32 mark! Very long for a joint but it did what it did, thanx ta Warren Mayes! My Rating: 4.5

15. “Powda Bag”
REALLY likin’ tha title fa this shit right chea!! You’re back on dis shit, Pimp Daddy, so let’s see watz good wit it!! >>> Sounds good wit a calm background beat here. Oh, it’s a reworked version of B-32’s “I Need A Bag Of Dope;” soundin’ good fa a start. Tha 1st verse str8 street wit tha rhymes and tha 2nd verse keeps it goin’ too; gotta luv it!! I like tha otha version betta but of course, this serves well! From tha fiends ta my ears, it serves well!! Nice job wit tha 3rd verse too on this; you doin’ ya thang!! Now, tha 4th verse and you just keepin’ tha title/topic on point, consistently!! Glad you shouted out “Kilo G” on this shit; shout out ta his GR8 rappin’-ass!! My Rating: 4.4

16. “Outro/Gots To Be Real II”
This tha last one on here… Let’s see what you got fa tha ending… >>> Anotha R.I.P. anthem? A lotta killin’ must’ve happened around tha time… Tha outro was about 1:10 on tha length and nine seconds later, tha song starts. Sounds like some more of your hot shit right chea. You’re right about “in order to be a ___ Ward” dude; you “gots ta be real;” agreed! You REAL wit it wit tha “you gotta be real and suck my dick” part; wish you was still here!!
