Today marks eight years since tha sudden death of New Orleans, LA rapper, Mr. Ivan, and now, we're goin' to present you with a lil' tribute:
Today, December 19, 2015, marks eight years since New Orleans, LA native, Ivan Alonzo Newton, known in tha music world as Mr. Ivan, passed away from AIDS complications at only 34 years-old. Known for always wearing a hockey mask, Newton was one of tha early-signed Cash Money Records artists throughout tha '90s. Newton released his debut album, 187 In A Hockey Mask, back in 1994 on Cash Money Records and was featured on various discs by PxMxWx, U.N.L.V., B.G., Kilo G, Lil' Slim, Ms. Tee, Redbonez, CoaCoa, Don B & Lyrical. After bein' connected with fellow N'awlins'er, Don B, Newton would go on to sign with Don B's Bang'n Records, where he released his 2nd album, Resurrection, in 1999, also on Don B Productions. Newton would then move on to form his own label, Mask Entertainment, and released his 3rd and final album, Chapter II, Page I, in 2004 on tha label. If Newton was still alive on his birthday, September 7, he would've turned 42, earlier this year.

Sounds good wit you on tha 1st verse, ya dig. Tha hook’s pretty good; looks like an anthem although tha “Rebirth” song’s much betta… LOL, tha 2nd verse sounds like an ending rather than a verse, lol… DEFINITELY soundin’ anthematic here, lol! I mean, you’re holdin’ down tha intro down but really, how long does it have ta be?!? Honestly, this iz a skit? Should’ve been an ending to this CD or somethin’, not in tha middle of nowhere, especially afta somethin’ 7+ minutes long! LOL, singin’ at ‘round 4:49 FINALLY? DEFINITELY sounds REAL, REAL GR8!!! Tha 1st verse’s pretty good and tha background wit tha “blowin’/inhalin’/exhalin’” sounds A+ to tha FULLEST here!!! Makes tha song sound REAL, REAL, REAL, REAL, REAL GOOD!!!!!!!!!! DEFINITELY a “gettin’ high” anthem to tha fullest!! LOL, before tha 2nd verse, it sounded like a “singin’-type” Bounce flow, lol! iz on some tight shit, so you know this shit iz official! Luvin' tha Bounce
type vocal flow on this shit too! "Smoke blunt afta blunt!" Nice job
on tha 3rd verse, and there was (for like a second) a lil' bit of tha Bounce

A longer song here (5:40)! I don't picture it bein' that fast, but let's see
how it gon turn out!! >>> Well, a lil' fast in tha beat, and sounds
like it has a West Coast feel in it. Tha rappin' iz nice and fast, so that 1st
verse was consistent wit tha content! Tha hook iz pretty good too. Tha 2nd
verse iz pretty good on this too. Tha 3rd verse sounds much betta here wit tha
lyrics. Tha 4th verse here nearly had a Beastie Boys feel to it like in
"Ch-Check It Out" wit tha style of tha flow. Nice and pretty good
length on that 4th verse. My Rating: 3.8

got it!! REAL GOOD 1st verse as you just rapped miles an hour!! Tha hook sounds
pretty good, and tha 2nd verse sounds a lil' more gangsta here. Nice job right
there on tha 2nd verse; keepin' this shit hot! Tha 3rd verse sounds good too;
fuckin' luvin' tha flow, as it's just EXTREMELY good here!! Ooh, an outro a lil'

It's not "en;" it's in'. This looks like it gon be some
REAL HOT shit right chea!!! >>> Tha flow iz much slower here, but it
sounds like you keepin' tha flow catchy wit yo voice. Nice job on that 1st
verse, and tha beat music in tha hook iz nice! Tha 2nd verse iz good too; nice
lyrics here. I like tha "WTF?" voice at 2:15. Sounds like you had a
good reputation in tha underground back in '94; that's watz up! Not bad on tha
3rd verse here. I thought this song was gonna be better. It should've sounded
like tha previous song wit tha flow and beat! My Rating: 3.7

Wow, 5:57 on tha length! Now, I have a feelin' I'll hear tha featured people
(if I can tell who's who)! Looks like this CD just slowly gets better (based on
titles)!! >>> Anotha dark beat intro here, and tha 1st verse iz
soundin' a lil' bit on tha 90's West Coast style. Still really feelin' tha
rhymes here, and tha flow iz just great (as always)! That hook iz LOL fa me,
and it also sounds cool, especially how tha title iz said! Tha 2nd verse iz
here, and it's off to a nice start! Yea, "rock tha dope spot!"
Feelin' tha drug lyrics right chea! Felt tha 2nd verse on this shit, and now,
tha 3rd verse iz here! Too bad dude "been strugglin'" and shit like
that. Either way, tha verse came out good wit tha lyrics and that good shit!
Tha 4th verse iz here, and I think it's you 'cause it said, "hockey
mask." Real nice job here on this verse; luv tha non-stop rappin'!! Tha

add explicit lyrics, it sounds REAL good on this undaground shit, ya heard me!
Tha 2nd verse here sounds okay; nothin' much ta say, but glad it's above
average. Tha 3rd verse iz better; that consistent type that I liked from tha
1st verse returned in tha 3rd verse! Great gangsta lyrics right here ta turn
