R.I.P. Video #72: Tragic (Dirty Boyz)

Recorded May 30, 2020

Broadcasting from tha Bunkers of Alvira, here in Allenwood, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha "Tragic" loss in tha Louisiana rap community.

Stanley Guarian, known by his stage name, Tragic, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020; he was only 47-years-old.

Guarian was born in Baton Rouge, LA on February 2, 1973; tha stage name "Tragic" was an acronym that stood for "The Recording Artist Gifted In Christ." Guarian was a part of Baton Rouge, LA's Dirty Boyz rap group. Tha Dirty Boyz were formed durin' tha late '90s, in Baton Rouge, LA. Their original lineup consisted of members Kash, Tic, Black, Spade, Fatt Albert & Tragic, himself. Startin' their career under tha label IceHouse Records, tha Dirty Boyz released their debut album, 36 Ounces. Shortly after tha release, tha Dirty Boyz were later forced to leave IceHouse. Bouncin' right back, DB member, Kash, formed a new label, Dirty Boy Recordz (sometimes labeled as "DirtyBoy Entertainment" or "Dirty Boy Records," with an "S"). In 2006, tha Dirty Boyz released their 2nd album, Gutta Wayz 2 Get Paid. However, right before tha group's follow-up album dropped, tha group was down ta only three members, Fatt Albert, Tic & Kash. Needless ta say, tha group's 3rd album, Take Dat, Vol. 2, was released in 2008. As tha next decade went on, DB member, Fatt Albert, formed his own label, Beyond Reproach Entertainment. However, on tha tragic side of thangz, group member, Spade, had passed away & then, on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, Tragic tragically passed away. Earlier, on February 2nd of this year, Guarian celebrated his 47th birthday.

Review #1,810: DJ Tremon "Hottest In The City 4"

Reviewed on 8.14.2019 (Review #1,810)

Keepin’ ‘em comin’, slowly but surely… DJ Tremon Hottest In The City 4! Looks like you’ll have anotha birthday 2morrow, as I’ll prolly resume tha next three reviewz for 2morrow! Start Time: 8:34 PM | End Time: 9:54 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2019 CD Review (Review #1,810) reviewed on 8.14.2019 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Austin On Tha Track feat. Meter Gang “Fuck It Up”
Kickin’ it off wit anotha Meter Gang song… >>> So far, based off you on tha intro & tha beat, it sounds like it’s much betta than tha previous edition’s Meter Gang track. Bass sounds heavy; decent rhymes on tha 1st verse, here. Was okay till tha annoying hook came in. How ironic: “Fuck It Up,” huh? That’s how I feel about how this hook sounds! Shouldn’ta added a lil’ auto-tune on tha vocals… Gee Money Pimpin’ on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ aight, here; not much ta say… A 3rd verse fit & it’s pretty fast, here… Overall, decent; just a shitty hook, even tho it would prolly sound betta in your club. My Rating: 2.8

02. Jaye London “My Situation”
>>> Sounds like a hot beat start from Trel It’z A Hit on tha track! Samplin’ Cleveland Lounge’s “Drowning” song from 2000 on tha beat sound (da-dunn-dunn; da-dunn-dunn, da-dunn-dunn). Hearin’ what he spittin’ and it’s nice; definitely feelin’ this beat! Good shit; I got impressed… My Rating: 4.3

03. O.U. Bird “How I Live”
>>> This good; good lil’ hook. Can’t confuse this Bird wit Byrd, despite them both bein’ Louisianimalz… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like a good lil’ club banga; good shit. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it str8; this str8, overall. My Rating: 3.8

04. Yotsai “Sideline”
Not sure what ta expect from this artist’s name… >>> Tha “it’z up, it’z up” shit sounds like some good Baton Rouge shit. Not likin’ tha “whole lotta money” shit, as well as one of tha “it’z up”s bein’ taken outta tha 2nd ½ of tha hook. Either way, kinda likin’ it as a guilty pleasure, tho ‘cause I like tha singin’. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s random club rappin’, ova this good beat. Thought there woulda been room fa a 2nd verse but a lil’ bit of an outro, here… My Rating: 3.9

05. BBE AJ feat. Whop Bezzy “Doing My Dance”
>>> Got a La’Keith production, here; looks like we’re off to a betta-than-average start wit this mixtape, so far… Sounds like a regular-soundin’ dancin’ track that’s aight, on tha hook; beat nice, tho. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and bleh, why err-one gotta have “racks” or money in every song? Like, aren’t they more paranoid about all money on ‘em than havin’ weed on ‘em? I would be—oh wait, my brother passed! There’s no such thing as bein’ paranoid, anymore! With that bein’ said, tha rest of tha 1st verse cool, tho; “Jigga City” representa, at its finest! Got Bezzy on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit tha street combination fa this club track. My Rating: 4.0

06. OMG JT feat. HBO Duece “In This Bit By Myself”
I rememba meetin’ HBO Duece one of tha dayz afta I met you, after October 13, 2017:
Now, he here… >>> Sounds like a cool lil’ club banga; anotha great hook/beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s cool; I’m diggin’ tha energy/fast rhymin’. Definitely a cool lil’ jiggin’ jam; let’s see how HBO contributes… Here comes HBO on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit some undaground, Jigga City energy! Good shit; nice job from tha both of ‘em! My Rating: 4.2

07. Jay Lewis “I Hope”
>>> Only a minute; let’s see what’s good… Nice jiggin’-type beat, once again, as well as strictly gettin’ to da rappin’! Likin’ tha hopin’; gotta “hope” fa da best! Last 12 seconds wit tha beat’s kicks sound dope! Lol @ all these wishes! My Rating: 4.1

08. Fredo Bang “Kill Ya”
>>> Prolly on tha guilty pleasure tip but I prolly gon feel this a lot. He sing-raps tha hook pretty nice, here, as well as tha good beat. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and he got this shit on lock! OMG, if I rate this high, if it becomes my top-rated track on here, I’ll die laughin’, lol! There’s gotta be somethin’ mo catchier on here! “My heart black like a croooooow,” lol! Almost thought it was ova but a 2nd verse’s here… Sounds like a good lil’ verse; really feelin’ that silly/good hook. My Rating: 4.7

09. Hotboy Turk feat. Birdman “All The Money”
>>> Not inta tha “money” shit, on tha hook. Speakin’ of, you know, which it’s featured in that Louisiana trip documentary where I met you, after I left tha club that night, I got sexually assulted, robbed & threatened, smh; it was a Friday tha 13th, too, tho I’m not superstitious. Got stronger since but once again, you know why I hate “money” shit (even tho, it mainly go back ta November 17, 2011, when I first got robbed in tha business. I was finally paid back October 6, 2018!)! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it str8; sounds good wit this beat. Surprised Birdman sound good on tha 2nd verse; thought he was gon have auto-tune or some wack shit. Glad he proved me wrong & his verse was betta than tha hook… Got mo room fa a 3rd verse, here. Tha 3rd verse from Turk str8, here; likin’ tha “lottery ticket” shit. I give him his props fa keepin’ this shit goin’ fa you, Tremon. My Rating: 3.7

10. Lil’ K “Trench Living (Jeezy Flow)”
A Jeezy-jacked track? Not sure if I’ll feel? >>> Not like I recognize it like other shit I’ve heard in da past. Let’s see what we got, tho… His “uh” in tha beginning reminded me of Jeezy, until tha flow sped up. Either way, it’s a good hook fa tha streetz. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like a good hustle; good shit. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it str8; this track str8 fa me, overall… My Rating: 3.5

11. DB Kash “200K”
Not sure if I’ll feel this money-lookin’ title… >>> Likin’ this beat; tha hook ain’t too annoying, at least. Let’s see how tha verses go… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and yeah, it’s braggin’ too much about “money” but I’m still not 100% turned off… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s whateva. I’m still enjoyin’ this in some type of way, so it’s not a flop fa me… My Rating: 3.6

12. P-Nut feat. Bolo “Turnt Up”
>>> Sounds like a good club banga, wit tha streetz mix… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like good rhymes wit this beat… Glad for tha hook! “Dem chewiez got me turnt up!” Good shit; gotta luv energy! Wish I had more, right nah but not havin’ a job’s hurtin’ my productivity & motivation, smh. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad. Why err-body gotta have somethin’ “money” in they verse, especially if I neva heard/barely heard of ‘em? My Rating: 3.9

13. Arthentic “Nowhere”
>>> Doesn’t sound like a singin’-styled track I’d fuck wit but their singin’ str8, on tha hook… Decent 1st verse; sounds like it has potential outside tha Boot? Tha rest str8; I won’t hate too much, despite it not bein’ my style… My Rating: 2.5

14. Nicole Monionno “Walked In”
>>> Like how you introduced her in tha beginning! Just tryna type tha last name and then, you said it, lol. I’ono, nothin’ too special wit these rhymes & this track. Nothin’ that sounds too terrible but I still think it sounds good fa your club sets… Tha rest of this decent; nothin’ really ta say… My Rating: 2.4

15. Geno “While You Jig”
Only one “G” in “Jig”, here? That’s less of bein’ a “G”, right, lol? Oh wait, tha otha “G”’s in “Geno”, his name, lol! >>> I’m diggin’ this vibe; sounds like a good lil’ throwback vibe fa tha jiggalatin’! Get it? “Throwback” & “jiggalatin’” I used in tha same sentence? Of course! Hearin’ tha verse and it sounds cool fa this; good lil’ quickie! My Rating: 4.2

16. Rocky Mountainz “The Revenge Of Paper Boi”
Looks interestin’ but let’s see… >>> Anotha one wit “dollaz,” kickin’ it off… Sounds slightly like a mysterious-soundin’ production, wit a cool vibe… Kinda thrown off wit all tha “money” shit but it sounds good, at times… What’s wit all these newer tracks out wit tha beat distortin’ in tha back, these dayz? Sounds too typical; I get weird when I always hear ‘em. Either way, sounds okay wit tha 2nd verse… I’ll give this one its props; almost a 4.0’er… My Rating: 3.9

½time: So far, so good, Tremon! A 3.7-rated CD; looks like there’s no trash, luckily! A couple good bangaz, too; let’s keep it goin’!

17. Rocky Mountainz “Top 2”
Him, again…; back-2-back like pillz, lol! >>> Sounds okay; tha otha song was much catchier wit tha production. This production sounds more like it fits wit your club sets than tha catchiness of my earz. Either way, tha rhymes aight; just sounds like it was randomly made. I’ono about this “Top 2,” tho; might make tha “Top” 20! My Rating: 3.4

18. Bolo feat. Mr. Do The Most “Feed The Fam”
>>> Oh, boy!!! So, this was not an original beat, tha whole time? I know this off of (not gonna say his name ‘cause of an issue & he blocked me on June 19, 2019, after I showed him luv on my playlist, smh) “True Story”, from three years ago. Basically, this, like, a rap vs. rap track, fa me (already heard some1 rap off this beat, when I thought it was an original track). Tha hook okay; doesn’t really catch me like “True Story” did, despite that bein’ watered-down wit auto-tune! As far as tha rest of this, kinda random; weird that it’s my lowest-rated, here, atm! My Rating: 2.0

19. Kocaine “Junkies At My Door”
>>> Sounds cool wit this hook and tha beat ain’t bad… Tha 1st verse ain’t bad; diggin’ his “trap house”-type rhymes, here. Tha rest of this ain’t bad; I’ll give it its props. My Rating: 3.5

20. Big Swipe “She Gon Hit Da Lick”
>>> Anotha one that sounds str8, as far as tha hook & beat. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like dude on a mission fa undaground success. Hearin’ tha hook fa tha 2nd time & he sound lost, a lil’? “She gon hit da—I,” lol? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds str8; a decent lil’ track… My Rating: 3.3

21. Lil’ Swipe “Betta Get Low”
>>> Sounds like a good call-out command track to “get low!” Prolly coulda had a lil’ mo energy in da beat but it’s still cool ‘cause this dude got tha energy in his flow. Hearin’ tha verse and he sound like a Louisiana version of Chedda Da Connect, only wit a lil’ mo energy. My Rating: 3.6

22. Banga “It’s Whatever”
>>> An EQ beat, based off tha hornz in tha beginning? Good hook; I always dig tha repetitive “it’s whateva wit me”-type hooks! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good wit these rhymes/tha energy. Lol, this 2nd verse’s pretty raw! Tha “masturbation” shit and whateva follows that’s pretty dope! He got tha rhymes on lock, this time! My Rating: 3.8

23. Lil’ E feat. D3 Yungin “Drip”
>>> Likin’ tha beats drippin’ on tha beat! Also, good lil’ intro from you, Tremon. Hearin’ tha hook and it’s cool; I’ono when but I have a feelin’ I’ll get tired of err-body wit tha “drip” tracks, one day. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s str8; nothin’ annoyin’ ta turn me off… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it aight; club shit, here… My Rating: 3.7

24. D-Shaw “Woke Up”
>>> He sounds consistent on this shit; an improvement, here… I mean, how many lyrics can you spit? I usually have been turned off by tha fast rappin’, these dayz. However, this sounds a lil’ betta than usual. Tha hook sounds good fa a wakin’ “up” track. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds good; flow slowed down a lil’, surprisingly… Well, it sped back up, right away…! My Rating: 4.0

25. Mack Tony “Bitch Please”
>>> Sounds like a few sampled parts in tha beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s cool; not bad… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it str8; nothin’ much ta say… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on & it’s aight; tha flow a lil’ iffy fa me wit how it’s slow/repetitive, tho… My Rating: 3.1

Intermission: I tried ta hold it in but due to tha heat & tha laptop on my lap, right nah…
Have ta shit! *Shit Start Time: 9:33 PM* *Shit End Time: 9:37 PM* Wow, that was a fast shit, despite my back hurtin’…

26. Bookie “Freak Hoe (G-Mix)”
>>> Sounds like it gon be anthemic fa dem clubz… Sounds like dude inta this shit, durin’ tha 1st verse; good shit. Tha beat gives this a good vibe ta progress inta somethin’ nice! “I’m wit tha shits;” did I predict my shit at tha right time, lol? Maybe, one song too soon but I felt “tha shits!” Literally! A random female on tha hook; sounds good. A part of me feels like this reminds me of tha early ‘00s—ironically, Bookie said, “Don’t start no shit, it won’t be no shit,” no less! Anotha psychic feelin’, as I quoted that on tha last review! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it good, too; nice lil’ throwback-type club vibe, here, ta make this & tha next decade sound nice! My Rating: 4.1

27. Furly “Pop Dat”
>>> ROFL @ this hook; luvin’ all tha title parts!! Gotta give it up ta this chick! Speakin’ of throwback sounds wit tha previous track on here, this sounds like it has tha ‘90s to it. Lol, can’t believe this gon be Fredo Bang’s runner-up fa tha top!! My Rating: 4.4

28. Tweeday “Club Move”
Can he recover from his 1.0 flop, from tha last CD? >>> Of course, he can! This more like it! Definitely feelin’ how he can make tha “Club Move” on this track! Good shit; glad he keep this shit goin’! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good; glad he don’t run outta energy! “Goin’ Deezy on ‘em!” He got dat Level-type energy; gotta have it in ya! This one might have ta break “Pop Dat” from tha Fredo Bang runner-up challenge! My Rating: 4.4

29. Sam I Am “Piped Up”
Oh boy, Sam wit tha competition, here! I rememba hearin’ this one, too, but once again, didn’t add ‘cause I was goin’ thru shit… >>> Sounds good wit tha hook; always got dat energy “up!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and damn, his voice sound like he so watered-down from his previous energy. I know he went thru a near-death experience, two years ago—oh, he just said it, b4 tha verse ended… I actually met him right b4 that shit happened…
Either way, good shit; we #80sBabiesInOur30s, so we got dis! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it’s good. It’s almost like, with his voice like dis, it sounds like he spittin’ more fa tha streetz than just tha clubz, here. Wit that bein’ said, I still think it combines nicely… My Rating: 4.3

30. NBA YoungBoy “No Mentions”
Oh no… >>> Icky money shit in tha beginning… “I been hidin’ from attention…,” huh? Doesn’t seem like dat! He gets way more attention than me & I hold it down fa tha city way mo than him! I been, since he was only 7, turnin’ 8! Still doin’ somethin’ fa Louisiana at least once a month, since October 2007! Either way, not much else ta say about tha 1st verse… Sounds like he wants to have a Jamaican-styled delivery wit tha hook and his flow; whatev… Shit, how many rhymes he gon squeeze in, on tha 2nd verse? Yada-yada-yada flow; go away! My Rating: 2.2

31. B-Thone “Havin’ Thangs”
>>> I know this a sample from UGK but it almost seemed like this an oldie? I know I’m trippin’ when I say dat; I just thank other people have sampled this… Actin’ like it’s 100% somethin’ I neva heard b4, this sounds like a good lil’ hook and beat; almost sounds like Pimp’s voice turned into a lady’s… And yeah, Tremon, “Shout out to ThaAntidote.com;” props ta dem! Got tha 1st verse goin’ on and it’s cool; do yo shit! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s cool, as well; do yo shit, once again… My Rating: 3.8

32. Johnny Hu$tle “Hustla”
Endin’ wit my boy! >>> Good shit; glad he always hustles! Strictly spittin’ good shit durin’ tha 1st verse; he know what it iz! I’m likin’ that he brought back da oldies, on tha hook, just like how he was “Born 2 Roll!” Got tha lil’ bounce-type vocal flow on tha 2nd verse, here, like he was a part of U.N.L.V.! Good shit, Hu$tle! Keepin’ tha 2nd verse goin’ wit tha “urinal” shit. I remember when he took his “final piss of 2013;” I paid tribute ta dat & had my “final piss of 2018,” in Virginia, lol! Gotta love him! He a big inspiration to my character! We #80sBabiesInOur30s! Just see tha shittin’ pic I posted, earlier in tha review! He inspiration behind dat, too! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: Weird… Tha other compilations were 1:19 long. This one was shorter but because of my shit, it was a 1:20 review; it’s like it fit, like a fit, lol! But yeah, good shit; seemed like I liked this compilation tha best, so far! Not too many that struck me in a major way, like tha previous two comps had at least two 4.6+ ratings. This one only had one and it was a guilty pleasure. Either way, there were no shitty songs, outta 32, no less! Weakest one was ‘cause I heard it from a rapper that no longer likes me; weird… But yeah, I will continue this shit 2morrow morning, around 7:00! Stay tuned; do yo shit! Have anotha birthday on me & my reviewz!

FTLD'z Louisiana Trip #01: 3.26.2017 - 3.29.2017 (Video)

FrankieThaLuckyDog & Lucky Dogz Entertainment Presents FTLD'z Louisiana Trip #01: 3.26.2017 - 3.29.2017.

Since October 11, 2007, Frankie has been fascinated with underground, Louisiana rap music. All his life, he has always wanted to go down to Louisiana and meet up with everyone. Finally, starting on March 26, 2017, his dream came true! Take a look at who and what Frankie encountered over his four dayz in Louisiana:

Day 1: March 26, 2017:
Frankie & his grandma, Grandma Down the Block, arrive in New Orleans, LA at 6:23 PM, rents his first car & his first hotel. Frankie gets his first drive through I-10 and iz amazed at tha scenery. Frankie then pulls up to tha Hookah Lounge in Baton Rouge, going to tha club for tha first time. He meets up with rappers YB (Dirty Dinero Band Camp), Razy Ray (Dirty Dinero Band Camp), A.R. (In Your Earhole Productions), FY JR (Forever Young Entertainment) & Wolfe, as well as manager, Big Steve (formerly of Millionaire Minds Entertainment).

Day 2: March 27, 2017:
Frankie & his grandma take a trip to DJ/promoter, 3 Way Street Radio's Way 3000's house. They encounter Korey, who's with Travis James Entertainment. Way 3000 shows Korey an award he won on Frankie's 3rd Annual Louisiana Awards of 2010. They then head to Way's old store off Gus Young Avenue, they meet up with Dog Entertainment & Cash Out Entertainment's Tech (Mr. Throw Me Back), Po Boy Express to meet up with Macked Out Music's Big Supa & then, they head to DJ Greg Dukes' studio. As they're chillin' outside with song ideas and ways to encounter different weather, they head into tha studio to meet up with SLF EMP Music Group's Max Minelli, No Limit Forever Records & OJ Entertainment's Sam I Am, Dirty South Productions' Mista Matt (South Coast Coalition) & Koo Shot Ya (as well as Highlife Entertainment producer La'Keith, who made a quick appearance). While there, Frankie signs Greg Dukes wall and even gets interviewed by him on camera.

As they continue to drive around, they are stopped by a moving train for at least 10 minutes. Then, after they get a bite to eat at tha catfish store and shop for new clothes, Frankie & grandma head back to tha hotel to recharge. As Frankie doesn't hear from anyone, Frankie randomly falls asleep. Then, New Go Get It Music & Boss Made Music Group rapper, Beezy Bird, meets him outside tha hotel.

Day 3: March 28, 2017:
Frankie & his grandma head back to meet up with Way 3000. Frankie asks Way 3000 about where to find a voodoo doll at, courtesy of Frankie's manager. They drop his grandma off at tha Mall of Louisiana as they head their separate ways, for tha day. Way 3000 takes Frankie down late rappers Racked-Up Ready & Lil' Handy's old neighborhoods. They then pull up to Sundown to meet up with Jungle Muzik Mafia rapper, MFWeeThang, walkin' around tha area.

As Frankie iz shopping for more clothes and on tha hunt for a Baton Rouge hat, him and Way encounter Black Balloon Global rappers, Ray Vicks & Steve O, in tha parking lot of one of tha urban shops. They then meet up at tha barbershop, doin' a drop for Frankie. They continue to go to late rapper, Dope Celebrity Records' Nu$$ie's old block, featuring Nu$$ie's DCF building and passing Nu$$ie's old house. In tha mist of gettin' ready for tha next siting, Frankie encounters one of rapper Quick's connects for a drop. Then, they head to tha Triple S gas station where CD seller, Alton Sterling was killed at.

As Frankie drops Way 3000 off and rides solo, he meets up with Big Faces Entertainment rapper, Lil' Boxx & then, Legal Dope Records producer, Dre Tree Z. Frankie then hops in tha car with Dre Tree Z to head to Morganza to meet up with Legal Dope Records rapper, P.I.R., a rapper who gets a hold of Frankie every day. On tha way there, Frankie smells somethin' unique: a paper plane, as they cross tha bridge to Morganza. P.I.R. iz starstruck by Frankie and appreciates him to tha max.

Day 4: March 29, 2017:
Frankie & his grandma head to New Orleans to find a voodoo doll and meet up with Gangsta Gumbo DJ/promoter, Jimmy the DJ, tha dude who started Frankie's Louisiana connection on October 11, 2007. They meet up in tha VooDoo Mart and get tha voodoo doll.

Tha trip was a huge success for Frankie, overall, and plans on having more trips in tha future. He expects to meet up with everyone he's fucked with in Louisiana...

FTLD’z Louisiana Trip #01: 3.26.2017 – 3.29.2017

Since October 11, 2007, I’ve had a fascination with underground, Louisiana rap music, mainly from Baton Rouge. I’ve always wanted to go to Louisiana and meet up wit err-body, but certain obstacles would be in my way. I would continuously ask family members, “Go to Louisiana with me!” They would look at me all judgmental and say, “What’s in Louisiana? It’s dangerous!” In 2010, I tried to go with an underground rapper’s sidekick & he was like, “I’m not going unless you pay for me! My artist’s way bigger than all of them!” That pissed me off and put me in jeopardy of finding some1 to go with ‘cause bein’ autistic, it ain’t easy makin’ friends…

One person I always wanted to go with was my grandma, who has heard damn-near every story I had with Louisiana (getting robbed on November 17, 2011, my radio show, talking to this one, etc.). During my Louisiana connection, she would always have to take care of her mom. On September 19, 2015, her mom passed away & now, she wasn’t trapped with taking care of some1. However, since Baton Rouge producer/rapper, DJ B-Real blocked me on February 5, 2014, I now have a full-time job, working six dayz a week & it’s hard to find coverage.

On January 27, 2017, I opened up to my manager about finally making my debut to Louisiana. She was cool with it & I was able to get tha coverage. I let my grandma know that we can finally make this happen. I chose March 26, 2017 as my debut-in-Louisiana day. March 26 iz my manager’s birthday & she has pushed me into making some interesting, risky, unique decisions. As each day progressed, my anxiety & excitement were both building up, while tryna handle a tough job… I couldn’t believe my dream was finally comin’ true!

On March 25, I flew to Coconut Creek, FL, to meet up with my grandma. However, when I got off my plane at 6:23 PM, my luggage got lost in Charlotte, NC, jeopardizin’ my trip… My flight was scheduled for 6:35 AM tha next day & I ain’t have my luggage. Tha following morning, we had a cab ride scheduled for 4:30 AM… A lack of communication made our cab arrive at 5:22 AM! When we arrived at tha airport, my grandma lost her phone… While lookin’ for tha phone, we missed tha flight; it was rescheduled for 1:35 PM. Her phone wound up bein’ in her car but at this point, will I finally make it to Louisiana? At around 10 AM, American Airlines called us, lettin’ us know that they found my luggage. We got tha luggage and we were finally on our way to Louisiana!

Day 1 in Louisiana: 3.26.2017: At 6:23 PM, I arrived in New Orleans, LA, renting my 1st car & hotel. As I drove an hour to my hotel in Baton Rouge, I’m lookin’ at tha scenery and I’m really impressed with how it looked like a cool jungle. I stayed at tha Hotel Indigo Baton Rouge Downtown hotel and began to hit up peeps that I was in town… Baton Rouge rapper, YB, from tha Forever Young
click, told me to meet him at tha Hookah Lounge nearby; he was performing. I’ve been at bars before, but this was tha 1st time I was at a club… Everything was nice, as I chilled with YB. I showed him birthday luv & got him a hookah to enjoy… We was also kickin’ it wit one of his patnaz, Baton Rouge rapper, Razy Ray. We got pics, drops & watched tha performances happen. One rapper who performed, Baton Rouge rapper, A.R. (Problem Child Entertainment), I had known since 2009.
I approached him when he was done and I was like, “It’s FrankieThaLuckyDog!” He was excited and said, “You been fuckin’ wit me since I was a teenager!” Crazy to know that I was only 20 & he was 18 when I first heard of him, back on Baton Rouge producer/rapper, Beat Flippa’s Street Certified CD on October 16, 2008. He was sellin’ me a CD & I showed him luv by givin’ him $5.00 for tha CD. As I waited for YB to perform, I also ran into Baton Rouge rapper, J.R., from tha Forever Young click & Big Steve, who was Baton Rouge rapper, BluBlack’s old manager. As YB performed, he was like, “I’m sellin’ my new CD fa a dolla…” I was like, “I know you gave me tha CD for free, but you deserve tha dollar! Neva give up! Tha rap game needs you! I need you to continue!!” As I left tha Hookah Lounge, I ran into one more dude, Wolfe, who I ain’t know… He gave me a CD & I have yet to see how he iz…

Day 2 in Louisiana: 3.27.2017: Tha next morning, Gram & I headed to tha Waffle House on College Road in Baton Rouge. After that, during tha 10 AM hour, we hooked up with Baton Rouge DJ/promoter, Way 3000. Way was so happy to see me that when his patna, Corey, affiliated with Baton Rouge labelhead, Travis James, stopped by, Way showed him an award he won from me on my 2010 Louisiana Awards for Louisiana CD Cover Of Tha Year for his Jigg City Rockstars 3(Hosted by Way 3000) mixtape compilation. Way then hopped in tha car & we hit up his old store, located on Gus Young Avenue. He was then gettin’ a hold of artists to try and meet up wit me for my documentary on Louisiana that I was shootin’. We met up wit Baton Rouge rapper, Tech, a.k.a. Mr. Throw Me Back (Dog Entertainment/Cash Out Entertainment) & brought him along for tha ride… They also showed me that tha jiggaz in Baton Rouge no longer have X in ‘em; they have meth in ‘em!

As we continued to drive around BR, we met up wit Baton Rouge rapper, Big Supa (Macked Out Music), formerly of tha Baton Rouge group, Down Bad. We took pics & took one of my favorite pics with WayWe then took a trip to Baton Rouge DJ, Greg Dukes’ studio… As we waited a lil’ while, Dukes & a group of rappers were excited to know that I was in town… Inside tha studio was Baton Rouge rappers Max Minelli (SLF EMP Music Group), Sam I Am (No Limit Forever Records/OJ Entertainment) & Mista Matt of South Coast Coalition (Dirty South Productions). Baton Rouge photographer, Koo Shot Ya, was also present, shootin’ an interview wit Sam I Am. Once tha interview was done, I signed Greg’s wall of signatures. Greg came up with tha idea to get an interview from me, so I told him how dedicated I’ve been for Baton Rouge rap over tha past 10 years. Despite not gettin’ a pic, Baton Rouge producer/rapper, La’Keith (Highlife Entertainment), made an appearance in tha studio, too.

After tha studio session, we headed to Hana’s to check out some new clothes. Tha clothes were pretty dope there, buildin’ my collection. Then, as we were headin’ back to Way’s house, a train was coming. My gram & I ain’t realize how long tha train in Baton Rougetook to cross; lots on one train! After tha train action, I randomly fell asleep, though tryin’ to hit up people in between. Some would answer but none would confirm a time/place to meet. I then finally got a hold of Baton Rouge rapper, Beezy Bird (New Go Get It Music/Boss Made Music Group) & got a pic/drop from him… After Beezy Bird, I wound up meetin’ back up wit Way 3000 at his house for an hour or so & that was that.

Day 3 in Louisiana: 3.28.2017: Tha next day, I went to tha Waffle House & met up with Way 3000 again. This time, he showed me around various hoods, such as Zion City & we went to Sundown, a CD store in Baton Rouge. At Sundown, I met up wit some new rappers from Baton Rouge, includin’ Jungle Muzik Mafias MFWeeThang. I filmed them showin’ they ass off, while I copped a Go Tuff mixtape.

After Sundown, we were gas station-hoppin’ for a Baton Rouge/225 hat. Lil’ did I know, it’s a custom-made hat, so most places ain’t have it. As we pulled up to OMO Streets Wear in Baton Rouge, we seen Baton Rouge rapper, Ray Vicks (Black Balloon Records), pull out. We were told to meet him at tha barbershop, so after I bought more clothes, I went to tha barbershop to meet up wit him. He & his boy showed me luv, gave me a CD & it was nice to encounter him. After Ray Vicks, we headed to tha late Baton Rouge rapper, Nu$$ie’s label building, Dope Celebrity Records. I got pics & we passed Nu$$ie’s house, too.

To go with tha legends, we then headed to tha Triple S gas station, where Baton Rouge CD seller, Alton Sterling, was murdered. As I pulled my camera out, err-body at Triple S thought I was with MTV ‘cause I come from New York. I respected tha compliment & took a few more shots…

Once I headed back to tha hotel & ate dinner, I headed to Sherwood to holla at my boy, Baton Rouge rapper, Lil’ Boxx (Big Faces Entertainment). Me tellin’ him about tha passing of my brother & how I’ve evolved really moved him and he really respects how I’m a “consistent, undefeatable savage,” as I say.

After Boxx, I headed back to tha hotel to meet up with Simmesport, LA producer, Dre Tree Z (Legal Dope Records), who produces for Morganza, LA rapper, P.I.R. (Legal Dope Records). After we met up, he gave me a ride all tha way to Morganza to meet up with P.I.R. & it was nice.
P.I.R. was starstruck to finally meet me, after bein’ connected with me for six years. P.I.R.’s one of tha most-dedicated people I’ve dealt with, as he texts me every day to see what’s good. Once we met up, Dre Tree Z dropped me off at tha hotel. Interesting enough, we smelt a paper plane as we were passin’ tha Audubon Bridge to P.I.R.’s house. To wrap up tha night, I headed back to Way 3000’s crib; he gave me a few CDs. After nearly fallin’ asleep on his chair, I headed back to tha hotel…

Day 4 in Louisiana: 3.29.2017: Our final day in Louisiana featured my gram & I headin’ to New Orleans to see Bourbon Street. I picked up a voodoo doll for my manager, by request, as well as a shirt for one of my favorite co-workers. Then, in tha Voodoo Mart, I met up with Kenner, LA DJ, Jimmy The DJ & I gave him an update on myself. Jimmy’s tha one that started my Louisiana connection & it was nice to finally meet him. After we met him, we headed to Coconut Creek, FL, via car, to kick off tha 2nd ½ of my vacation…

My advice to anyone trying to achieve whatever dream they wanna accomplish: It’s gonna take a while! Years—well, a decade for me!! No matter if you’re tha opposite race as most of tha entire culture you’re passionate about, you ARE accepted! Just know that you have somethin’ in common: tha passion for what y’all love!! It sux that I lost a brother along tha way but that just made me fearless! You’re gonna run into a lotta obstacles along tha way! Don’t give up!! You’re gonna have to spend thousands!! Spend thousands of dayz, hours, etc. just to build your reputation! Here I am, 1,700 CD reviewz later, finally accomplishing my dream of makin’ it to Louisiana! I did it!! And, I’m autistic! I defeated every barrier that was in my way and I’m happier than ever!! You can accomplish your dream! Mine came true at 28 years-old! Now, all I have to do iz get DJ B-Real to unblock me and reconnect with me & I’ll be all complete!

Review #1,511: Sam I Am "I Eat Beatz, Vol. 1: The Classics"

Reviewed on 7.11.2016 (Review #1,511)

Can’t believe I’m on my 4th review for today! Got No Limit Forever Records / OJ Entertainment’s Sam I Am back wit anotha one! I Eat Beatz, Vol. 1: The Classics! Wonder what kinda classics I gon expect, here? Also, shout out ta Flight Boy Forever, too! Start Time: 9:39 PM | End Time: 10:02 PM

If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2016 CD Review (Review #1,511) reviewed on 7.11.2016 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “I’m Back”
Let’s do dis!! >>> Time ta go off on “Here I Go”!! I know you gon handle these beatz very well!! Long intro, but after 51 seconds, here you go! Comin’ through a lil’ confused, at first, lol? Kinda feel like it’s half a bar, half random background talkin’, fa each bar? LOL, I’ono, but it’s still good fa me… Speakin’ of Mystikal, I have yet ta see dat collab happen! Sam & Mystikal; new mixtape comin’ in 2017!! I can feel it!! My Rating: 4.0

02. “Free C-Murder”
>>> Here we go!! “Down For My N’s”!! I dedicate this ta Percy Keith! As much as you love “C-Murder”—I do, too—I feel like this ta Percy Keith! That my favorite dude!! You got shit on-n-poppin’ on this verse, here; good shit! Diggin’ how you make tha hook sound jammin’, as a chant to “Free C-Murder”! Nice take on tha original! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Shittin’ On ‘Em”
>>> A toilet intro, lol? Let’s see how you gon do on this laidback vibe… “Still get fulla dat weed, still get fulla dem tabs!” Yeah!! Kinda sounds quiet, as far as tha volume? Sounds like a laidback song with raw vocals/rappin’ from you; interestin’ mix, lol! Tha hook’s nice; gotta shit “on ‘em!” Those that post “shittin’” pics are tha cool ones! Gotta give props ta ‘em: Myself, DJ B-Real, Foxx, Q-Red, YB, Killa Sounz, Johnny Hustle, Big Dre & a few others! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Don’t Feel Da Same” feat. Dolla Bill
>>> Anotha slow vibe, here… Kinda diggin’ tha beginning, here; you holdin’ down tha 1st verse, here, wit err-thang “you know!” Singin’ hook, here… Decent, but above-average fa me… Dolla Bill Da Last Man on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through, hangin’ in there… As much as “shit don’t feel tha same,” I look at it like this: I just continue ta move forward, without changin’! I only evolve; glad I’ve been in this fa nine years fa Louisiana, so far! My Rating: 3.8

05. “Fake Rappers”
>>> Kinda like a random song fa me wit this random beat ta rap off… Sounds like you’re hidden somewhere, with how this don’t sound that loud… Random, aggressive rappin’ ova this quiet beat, lol… Like how you had ta “hit this weed” at 1:56 and then, it paused! My Rating: 3.7

½time: A nice lil’ disc, so far… Kinda more laidback than tha previous CD you released, but you do yo thang on these beats! A 4.0-rated CD, so far; keep tha aggression goin’!!

06. “Who Gon Stop Me”
>>> Beat sounds quiet, once again… Gotta “shit on ‘em,” ya dig?! Nice job wit this verse; gotta hold it down! Anotha decent one, here; nothin’ too special, though… My Rating: 3.6

07. “Numbers Don’t Lie”
>>> An intro, here, with you clearin’ shit up… Here we go, sayin’ “Ugh!!” Okay, this sounds betta than tha last few jointz, with how you’re comin’ through! Tha last few ones sounded kinda random, but here comes that vibe, again! You viciously comin’ through wit it on this one, holdin’ Master P down wit how you bring dat heat to tha table! My Rating: 4.2

08. “No Limit Souljas (Remake)”
Let’s hear this “remake”… >>> Yeah, I’m definitely diggin’ how you comin’ through on this, transitionin’ to “a No Limit soulja!” Definitely can see you fittin’ in wit Mystikal and tha whole camp! Nice job comin’ through on tha verse, here… My Rating: 4.1

09. “Street Nigga” feat. Cox Boi & Dolla Bill
Anotha collab; let’s hear! >>> Beat sounds nice fa tha dark times, just like how it’s dark out, right now, thinkin’ about goin’ to work 2morrow morning… You on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit dat “Nu$$ie”-dedicated shit; gotta hold it down! Tha 2nd verse comes through wit regular-soundin’ raps; it straight… Tha 3rd verse sounds a lil’ betta, holdin’ it down fa tha streetzMy Rating: 3.9

10. “Guess Who’s Back”
A bonus track… >>> Beat’s nice, here, includin’ how you soundin’ on tha beginning, here… Yeah, y’all gotta “do yo homework; [Sam] been droppin’ hits!” We been in this fa a long minute!! Nice job wit tha hook, here, includin’ tha cold ending! My Rating: 4.0

Overall: An above-average lil’ jackin’-fo-beatz-type mixtape, here… You got tha rawness ta keep this shit goin’, Sam! You can touch—eat—anything!! Keep tha grind up!! Neva stop!!
