Review #1,079: D Phi Entertainment Presents "Give Me Your Money!!!! Vol. 1"

Reviewed on 10.30.2011 (Review #1,079)

Tha next review iz D Phi Entertainemnt Presents Give Me Your Money!!!! Vol. 1; not a fan of a “money” title, but we’ll see what happens. Start Time: 12:31 PM | End Time: 1:01 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I already love it. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating! Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. Jay Mitch Feat. Shanti Arielle “We Up”
>>> Decent for a single; like tha production, although this sounds a lil’ mainstream for me. My Rating: 3.6

02. Metri Feat. Yung Strapt & Riddick Bowe “Watch Her Do It”
>>> Thought this was a “Watch She Get It” song, but this definitely ain’t my style wit this “dougie” shit. Although tha beat may sound pretty-good, this ain’t really for me. My Rating: 2.3

03. Yung Strapt Feat. Jay Mitch “Hotel Room”
Although I like tha title now, we’ll see how it goes wit D Phi… >>> A “New Orleans” mix, here, for tha 225? Not too bad, overall; scary-soundin’ hook wit tha voice, almost? Thought I was gonna hear some trash or somethin’… Why iz this almost four-and-a-half-minutes long? Could’ve been about a minute shorter… My Rating: 2.7

04. Yung City Feat. Metri & Mall Of LA “Fuck Goin’ Home”
>>> A Mod Productions beat? What was it like workin’ wit him? Some of this sounds typical, but it’s on a decent tip, so far… Damn, not tha long length, again… Sounds like tha mind of what a typical person rappin’ sees, although tha beat’s hot. My Rating: 3.3

05. Metri Feat. Bryan Evans “That Pu$$y”
>>> Beat’s on a mainstream tip; don’t think I’ll go crazy over this… Tha sex shit’s pretty good, but what’s up wit tha really sour-soundin’ hook? Prolly could’ve felt better for a song. My Rating: 2.6

06. Metri Feat. Yung Strapt “Be Home Tonight”
>>> WTF @ tha semi-gay voice in tha beginning? Warn me if it’s R&B I’m expectin’… Rhymes are too teenagerish for me. My Rating: 1.3

07. Jay Mitch “Flat Broke”
>>> Okay wit tha slowed-down hook. WTF? Why does this sound like Lil’ One The Champ? Such a turn-off, outta nowhere!! My Rating: 1.4

08. Shanti Arielle “I Wanna Be”
Okay, now, I expect R&B so I know I’m warned… >>> A lil’ smooth, tha way I like it; I think it sounds betta like this than if it was a fast song. Tha length of 3:56 ain’t too bad, but it’s almost like everyone tries to make songs as long as possible, when it’s not called for. Random rappin’ goin’ on toward tha end? My Rating: 3.4

09. Jay Mitch “Smoke When I Wanna”
>>> Sounds like an interestin’ beat goin’ on, here… I really like tha “purp” shit, but why did I hear, “got my nigga … on tha …,” for tha 2nd time (referrin’ to tha producer)? Damn, I just heard it again; how fuckin’ wack (hearin’ that so many times)!! My Rating: 3.1

½time: Ehh, 2.6 for tha CD rating, currently; nothin’ I should be takin’ tha time out for.

10. Jaz M “She Will”
Wonder why DatPiff removed… >>> Decent, for a female. My Rating: 3.2

11. DeeJay Feat. Yung City “My Section”
>>> Flow’s a lil’ boring but tha voice ain’t too bad… However, I do like tha hook wit tha creepin’-up beat and tha “it get real in my section” shit. My Rating: 3.7

12. Jay Mitch “Blame Benjamins”
Not my kinda title. >>> If only it wasn’t about somethin’ typical like money, then, I would’ve prolly liked it, smh; Too long of a song, too…! My Rating: 2.5

13. Metri Feat. Tiny & Yung City “I Just Wanna Live”
>>> Sounds like a mainstream song that wouldn’t really be my style. Ugh, scary-soundin’ voice on tha hook…; damn, I can’t get a rise outta this CD? Tha only thing that came close was “My Section”, and that wasn’t even a 4.0! Really, I have no comment fa this mainstream-soundin’ song that should be decent, but iz spoiled by a weird-soundin’ hook. My Rating: 2.2

14. Bryan Evans Feat. Clutch “Foolin’ Around”
>>> Okay start wit tha female voice… Rappin’ doesn’t do anything for me, here; a lil’ betta than some of tha shit on here, though. My Rating: 2.8

15. DeeJay “Unforgettable”
Removed from DatPiff, too? >>> Not bad; tha female was better from tha other removed song. My Rating: 2.7

16. Ladi Debo Feat. Jay Mitch “Breakin’ Up”
>>> Not bad for this start…; at least this female rappin’ sounds betta than some of tha males on here. Nothin’ much goin’ on wit tha dude rappin’; not really likin’ that he sounds like Lil’ One The Champ too much. My Rating: 2.6

17. Yung City Feat. Corey Odom “Gangsta/Gutta”
A double-lookin’ title? >>> This sounds a lil’ betta, but how will tha verses do? Fuck, not a Boosie-soundin’ dude; what tha hell’s next? Maybe, it sounds like a blend between Boosie & Level; double novelty mix for me… By tha way, 4:42; why so long? I’ll give it a lil’ credit, regardless, ‘cause it has some good parts. My Rating: 3.4

18. Metri Feat. Bryan Evans & Riddick Bowe “Sit Down”
>>> Decent, but why does everything seem so easy and wit an attitude (e.g., “fuck you fuck boys”)? Like, when are dudes gonna rap about other dudes showin’ each other love? Not in a gay way, but you know if so many males are always together in cliques, there’s gotta be some room to rap about it. Then again, not in an easy way, either (e.g., “I got 50 dudes wit me”). My Rating: 3.2

Overall: Not good enough for me. Why do I keep thinkin’ Eddie Starks iz with D Phi Entertainment? That’s what keeps teasin’ me when I review these CDs, but I’m always wrong, smh.

Rankings:

18. Metri Feat. Yung Strapt “Be Home Tonight” 1.3
17. Jay Mitch “Flat Broke” 1.4
16. Metri Feat. Tiny & Yung City “I Just Wanna Live” 2.2
15. Metri Feat. Yung Strapt & Riddick Bowe “Watch Her Do It” 2.3
14. Jay Mitch “Blame Benjamins” 2.5
13. Metri Feat. Bryan Evans “That Pu$$y” 2.6

Review #876: D Phi Ent. Presents "The Life At D Phi Ent. (The Revamp) (Hosted by DJ Mike Nasty)"

Reviewed on 3.20.2011 (Review #876)

Review #3 fa today iz a reloaded version, or should I say revamp: D Phi Ent. Presents “The Life At D Phi Ent. (The Revamp) (Hosted by DJ Mike Nasty); will it be betta or worse than tha original? Wit Mike Nasty hostin’, I should have some extra anticipation! LOL, 197 reviewz ago was tha original D Phi Ent. review; lol, talk about grindin’! Forgot tha disclaimer of who D Phi Ent. iz: D Phi Entertainment iz Yung Strapt, Veto Vet, Jay Mitch, Dee Jay, Yung City, Tenisha, Clutch, Goonie, Clover, and Blucca Boy Beazy. Start Time: 8:02 PM | End Time: 8:29 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. Intro (DJ Mike Nasty)
>>> Sounds nasaly, lol! Anyway, good shit! Glad ta have Mike Nasty doin’ tha damn thang on tha intro! My Rating: N/A

02. “My Life”
Tha same as tha “The Life” song? >>> I guess it’s different; dis sounds betta, especially betta than a 3.3 rating! Tha rappin’ sounds good, here; D Phi Entertainment in tha buildin’! Nice job wit tha Southern verses; always gotta luv a Southern perspective! My Rating: 4.1

03. “I’m Tellin’ U” Feat. Lil’ Sheppard & 2 Slugz
Anotha new song fa me. >>> Ooh, tha hook’s a lil’ catchy wit tha “yo niggaz…” shit; dumb shit! Y’all doin’ a nice job on this beat; lol, immediately “on dem tabs,” lol! Tha 2nd verse has catchy “bow-and-arrow” rhymes goin’ on, here; thumbs up. “Sheppard been ‘bout whateva;” Lil’ “Sheppard”? If so, good combo. ROFL, tha 3rd verse iz 2 Slugz? Damn, what a great combo, in a much betta way!!! Gotta luv him; I always support him!! Damn, he keeps shit comin’!! My Rating: 4.3

04. “U Kno Dumb”
I always gotta lol @ tha missin’ “w” in tha title! So, Jay Mitch iz tha main artist, featuring Clutch? ‘Preciate dat, although because y’all unknown ta me, I prolly gon source err-thang as D Phi Ent. as tha artist ‘til I know betta. >>> G-Motivation doin’ tha beat; this sounds catchy, even though I’d expect more energy wit a title like dis… Either way, consistent shit when it comes ta tha vibe of dis joint! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Listen”
I only gave dis a 2.8? *Rehears* I said it was “cheesy” but it ain’t too bad. My Current Rating: 3.5

06. “Swag”
>>> Ooh, Mike Nasty on tha intro; gotta luv how he wanted ta “buy $300 worth of Girbauds” and shit! Anyway, I don’t really go fa a title like dis but Mike Nasty made this anticipatin’ wit wantin’ ta spend “$300,” lol. Tha verses are only aight fa me but it’s betta than tha typical “Swag” title I’d hear. ROFL @ “smellin’ worse than underarms!” My Rating: 3.6

07. “Can’t Get Through To You”
My worst-rated song for D Phi Ent.? *Rehears* Yea, too different; I won’t change my rating. My Current Rating: 1.5

08. “Cuz U Were Running Ur Lips”
Now wit “Were” in tha title, lol? It’s now a “past” title, lol. Anyway, tha style I definitely like, especially tha Zion City feel, a lil’ bit (Young Ready)! My Current Rating: 4.1

09. “The Life”
This one was boring for me, at first, and even though I’m keepin’ tha same rating, it ain’t too bad/different style. My Current Rating: 3.3

10. “The One”
>>> Pathetic start for tha production; are y’all Pop or somethin’? Damn, even a Lil’ Wayne flow? Immediately shuttin’ dis off! My Rating: 1.1

½time: A 3.3-rated CD, so far. But, y’all good fa me, at times.

11. “I’ma Hold It Down”
Think y’all forgot tha “a” in tha “I’m”; still think this iz a good joint. My Current Rating: 4.3

12. “Keep It On My Waist”
Glad y’all added Mike Nasty to tha intro; dumb shit, still! My Current Rating: 4.2

13. “What’s Up With Me”
>>> A decent start and a decent joint, overall. Prolly could’ve had betta production, here. “I want five stacks for a feature;” what? That much? Why? Why? I don’t get tha high amount! I charge a lot less fa things ‘cause I know a shitload of people and I gon stick ta dat technique! ;) I’m likin’ tha 2nd verse wit tha way tha dude knows how ta deliver shit, as well as havin’ a cool voice, too. Tha 3rd verse sounds nice wit tha shit bein’ spit; feelin’ tha vibe y’all bringin’ ta tha table, here! My Rating: 3.8

14. “L.O.V.E.”
>>> Good production fa a song dat I don’t think’ll be fa me. ROFL, a Boosie sample, outta nowhere, on tha hook?? :rofl Funny! Tha content sounds more street than Pop, luckily, which iz hard ta come by wit how y’all were Pop on this CD, at times! Tha 2nd verse iz a lil’ on tha Poppy side, a lil’, but it flows wit dis joint, good, especially those ad-libs! Tha 3rd verse sounds like Boosie? Oh yea, I forgot dat one of y’all sound like him; tha hook’s still funny, though, ‘cause it sounded random, at first. I like tha dedication fa dudes, lol; sometimes, it’s hard ta see dat in other dude’s feelings. My Rating: 3.6

15. “U Deserve”
>>> What’s this R&B shit? Does this even count? Why iz this here? My Rating: 1.0

16. “Stand Down”
Here’s tha Boosie-soundin’ song I first heard on tha previous CD, lol! My Current Rating: 3.9

17. “Deep In It”
>>> Not really a Southern style, here. Only below average/decent fa me… My Rating: 3.0

18. “Dream”
>>> Crowd beginning. Then, guns; why? This iz decent; I like some of tha rappin’, here. Kinda inconsistent, at times, but smh @ this hook, since it sounds familiar. My Rating: 2.8

19. Outro (DJ Mike Nasty)
Yay! Mike Nasty on tha outro… >>> Soundin’ good, here; like how he said, “bruh,” outta nowhere. Good job wit tha promotion fa D Phi at tha end, here. Even a “bruh” ending, too. Also, nice “lemme hold five dollas” outro, too, lol. My Rating: N/A

20. “Bend Over”
Glad this iz a bonus, since I rated it good. My Current Rating: 4.0

21. “Our Love”
>>> Bad ending; not really inta tha singin’. Tha rappin’ iz nothin’ special, so I can’t really say anything… My Rating: 2.1

Overall: I had a feelin’ this was gonna score lower than tha previous one. However, I did like dat Mike Nasty hosted.

Review #679: D Phi Ent. Presents "Life @ D Phi Ent."

Reviewed on 11.27.2010 (Review #679)

Keepin’ it goin’, I’m tryna hunt down some new music for my radio show. I figured I’d check out D Phi Ent. Presents “Life @ D Phi Ent. and see how good it iz! There’s 23 track so there’s gotta be room fa somethin’ tight!! Plus, thanx to GR8 artist Eddie Starks, I know about D Phi Ent.! Let’s see how GR8 this iz and what I gon hear from it!! Start Time: 11:30 AM | End Time: 12:48 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. Intro
Where do we begin? >>> Sounds anticipatin’; lookin’ forward ta hearin’! My Rating: N/A

02. “Cuz U Running Ur Lips”
Tight title and tight attitude; let’s hear it!! >>> Damn, not even an original beat? I’ll still see what it has to offer… It’s good and I’m likin’ tha style of this rappin’ goin’ on… I like tha gangsta sound wit tha lyrics, though… My Rating: 4.1

03. “Give’em What They Want”
>>> Kinda long on tha length but tha beat sounds pretty good… Again, feelin’ tha gangsta style here. Despite it bein’ hella long, all y’all held it down here! My Rating: 4.3

04. “Keep It On My Waist”
“Keep it” goin’, lol! >>> Whateva these beats are, I’m feelin’ ‘em! Anotha gangsta song; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Stand Down”
>>> Sounds more mainstream, almost like Rick Ross… SMH @ tha Lil’ Boosie shit in tha beginning; why? Neva mind, I think that’s someone that sounds like him… Again, anotha pretty good song. I think tha remainin’ songs are gonna be like dis… My Rating: 3.9

06. “Bend Over”
Switchin’ up tha styles, lol? >>> Tha beat sounds are a lil’ familiar for some reason… Either way, this iz cool wit tha Pimp C sample in it… I think this iz still street although I don’t really know too many people that know of D Phi Entertainment… My Rating: 4.0

07. “Driveway”
LOL, I wonder what’ll come outta this title? >>> This sounds more borderline wit tha beat sounds… Anotha good song wit barely anything fa me ta say… Tha hook’s a lil’ borderline like “Swag Surfin’” wit how it’s flowed. But, not bad for a song… LOL @ tha cutoff towards tha end when I thought it was gonna repeat tha hook. My Rating: 3.8

08. “Diamonds”
>>> Bad beat sound although it sounds a lil’ like Christmas so I won’t hate too much. What’s up wit all these samples? Are y’all afraid to represent by yourselves? I’m not feelin’ how tha 1st verse iz soundin’. It started good wit tha “weed” shit but sounds like tha boring/stupid Wayne flow and tha lyrics are gettin’ a lil’ shitty… Tha rest iz aight but somewhat gettin’ to me wit tha typical lyrics… I feel like some of it doesn’t have to do wit “diamonds”? My Rating: 3.0

09. “The Life”
>>> Kinda boring; why I gotta sit here for over four minutes? An okay song but I can hear this from everyone else… My Rating: 3.3

10. “Fallin’”
>>> Bleh… Why I gotta sit here for nearly tha same amount of time again?!? My Rating: 2.4

11. “Listen”
>>> Better beat but what’s up wit these cheesy songs??? My Rating: 2.8

½time: Where tha hell iz tha tightness I’m lookin’ for? Like Eddie Starks? Tha cover only says that D Phi Entertainment iz Yung Strap’t, Veto Vet, Jay Mitch, Dee Jay, Yung City, Tenisha, Clutch, Goonie, Clover, and Blucca Boy Beazy… Anyway, 3.6 iz tha CD rating so far but will keep trailin’ down if thingz keep goin’ sour.

12. “Turn You Out”
>>> Another boring song for me; c’mon wit dis! I’m 22; this sounds like somethin’ if I was more than ½ my age? My Rating: 2.9

13. “I Ride For You”
>>> Sounds more like J Buc’s kinda beats but no need for excitement, just yet. Did y’all steal this or somethin’ ‘cause it iz him? Much betta from that huge mess from before! Would be a bitch to edit this for my radio show so hopefully, I’ll have tha patience… Good job for tha content here; should be easily considered tha best song on here although it didn’t strike me that much at first… My Rating: 4.4

14. “I’ma Hold It Down”
Labeled as #15 on DatPiff but really #14… >>> This iz a lil’ betta than some of tha crap from before. I can handle this; I like who’s rappin’ on tha 1st verse, doin’ a nice job. Tha hook’s good and damn, this dude’s holdin’ tha whole track down! Definite plus; glad things are comin’ back wit this CD! My Rating: 4.3

15. “If U Kno Like I Kno”
Keepin’ it goin’? >>> Nope, this ain’t even an original beat. I’m not really into tha female on tha hook although it ain’t too bad… Okay, tha beat sounds a lil’ betta and I think tha 1st verse gon be pretty good… Tha 2nd verse was pretty good, good enough fa me ta take this song into consideration of bein’ pretty good. My Rating: 3.7

16. “Can’t Get Thru To You”
I think things finna go downhill… >>> Yup! Pointless waste of time for me, smh! Not even any rappin’, smh? Why iz this here? My Rating: 1.5 (if I feel that somethin’ completely doesn’t belong, my rating iz usually a lot lower)

17. “Stand The Rain”
>>> Another pointless, bullshit song! Well, first minute. Tha 1st verse sounds pretty good… This iz kinda gettin’ borin’ wit tha long 2nd verse but whateva… I don’t really go for songs wit samples in tha hook. My Rating: 2.4

18. “Reality”
>>> LOL, a stolen Mod Productions beat, too? Or should I say, “how much did you pay fa dis beat?” Not tha kinda song fa me so this iz nothin’ special. However, it’s betta than tha bullshit on here. SMH @ “goin’ ta prison” on tha 2nd verse; why you like jail? My Rating: 3.2

19. “Bled Those Blocks”
Got any proof? Just wanna know. >>> Finally, some hot production again! This has to be tha hottest beat on here! I hope it’s original; it’s prolly not… Good job wit tha hook here; I’m interested! Still, it would be good wit some proof ta prove dat it’s real! Good 1st verse; tha lyrics alert me that death iz comin’ (no offense)? That’s what usually happens to tha real dudes, unfortunately. Glad tha same dude from tha 1st verse’s on tha 2nd verse, too! Because y’all say, “bled,” instead of “bleed,” I’ll consider this title “bled” instead. My Rating: 4.5

20. “Sworn Enemies”
>>> Anotha hot-produced song! Interestin’ title and hook; this CD’s slowly comin’ back!! GR8 topic and content throughout tha whole song! Didn’t expect three verses, too! My Rating: 4.3

21. “It Was Only A Dream”
>>> Screamin’ sounds, lol. Thought there was a sample after tha screamin’ but y’all got similar voices ta people in tha mainstream at times… Thought this would be a cheesy song but it’s pretty good although a lil’ mainstream. My Rating: 3.5

22. “Terrific”
>>> Good, anotha normal-soundin’ song… This iz more 225 than most of tha shit here so that’s a plus. Good job on tha verses and this iz definitely somethin’ catchy. My Rating: 3.8

23. “Gurl U A Beast”
Last song here… >>> What was that “Ice Boy” tag in tha beginning that sounded like Boosie or somethin’? Anyway, hot beat and it sounds like it’s a pretty good ending song… Too bad it’s only one verse but it’s still pretty good for an explicit song. My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Kinda mixed here… A bunch of times I was disappointed while there was a lot of aight shit. Then, some songs surprised me, makin’ me really like ‘em! I would say keep doin’ tha damn thang ‘cause y’all a good click. But, where’s Eddie Starks?
