Review #1,751: The Greatest Rap Hits From Downsouth New Orleans "The Real New Orleans Compilation"
Reviewed on 8.09.2017 (Review #1,751)
For
my next review in my Louisiana Reviewz
Marathon, it’s a compilation… The
Greatest Rap Hits From Downsouth New Orleans The Real New Orleans Compilation, released in 1998. Since it’s
a compilation, I’m not 100% sure which songs I done heard or not heard, due to
I been reviewin’ these old CDs fa tha past eight years. I’m not gonna go too
in-depth wit tha review; it’ll be quick… Start
Time: 7:17 PM | End Time: 7:43 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0
– 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!
I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long
as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and
then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a
song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6
rating, I pretty much really love it,
as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I
hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type
before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything
after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening
to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your
vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’
topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

“Rough Neck Cutties”
It’s
spelled “cutties,” but it’s “cuties”?
Lol… >>> Quality’s ehh, but this sounds like a nice lil’ jam from back
in tha day… Good job with tha hook and these “cuties,” lol. Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ okay; I can dig
it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ catchy with these
chicks; lol @ “Salt N Pepa” and that reference about “paper.” Even endin’ tha
verse wit them singin’ SWV, “I’m So Into You”, lol. Tha 3rd verse’s
soundin’ good; catchy rhymes in tha beginning of tha verse… Endin’ wit a “rough
neck” chant, here, too… My Rating: 4.0
02.
Interlude – Phone Call
Let’s
hear… >>> Sounds like a hater; blah, blah, blah… I like how tha
background music’s Mardi Gras-like with “don’t start no stuff, won’t be no
stuff” in tha background… My Rating: N/A
03.
“Don’t Start No Stuff” feat. Mia X
And,
here we are! >>> Bounce beat, but a lil’ nursery rhyme-like beginning?
Really mixed up styles, here; let’s see how this progresses… Hearin’ tha 1st
verse and it sounds good fa this track, flowin’ through wit tha bounce and tha
rappin’… Tha 2nd verse sounds kinda loud and really energetic… More
shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, too, here… My Rating: 3.7
04.
“Early N The Morning (The Original)” feat. Ronell Bell of NBA
>>>
Partners-N-Crime? Naw, it’s y’all… Quality’s kinda fucked-up but it still
sounds nice ta hear… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds great ta
hear this scene, walkin’ “thru tha
do’” Tha hook ain’t too bad, compared to tha actual other version… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it
sounds like a nice lil’ collaboration between everyone, here… I like tha crazy
“ring, ring” shit dude goin’ nuts with; totally high feelin’, lol? My Rating: 3.9
05.
Interlude – Out All Night
>>>
Nice and loud with an argument goin’ on, here. Lol, I believe this whole entire
album an argument, lol… Random singin’… My
Rating: N/A
06.
“YudoMeLikDat?” feat. DJ Jubilee & Dionne Davis
Lol
@ tha collab! Can’t wait ta hear! >>> Sounds like a jam with this
singin’ in tha beginning; nice shit, so far… Hearin’ tha 1st verse
from Sha Ra and it’s soundin’ catchy ova this beat… Tha hook sounds nice ta
hear, here… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; kinda quick, overall…
Ooh, a rappin’ Jubilee on tha 3rd verse, here, with all tha
“Jubilee” chantin’ in tha background, too! Dope shit!! What a quick verse, but
it was worth it! Worth a repeat! Nice lil’ chantin’ toward tha last 1:18 with,
“Da Sha Ra iz in tha house!” Oh wait, it must be a different song ‘cause it’s
tha title of tha next song! Damn! Whoeva ripped this ripped it wrong! My Rating: 4.2
07.
“In Da House”
[No
preview, due to it randomly went into it on tha previous joint…] >>>
Sounds nice with this energetic beat and how y’all holdin’ it down “in da
house!” Nice “Pump Up The Volume” samples, randomly, too… Great job wit tha 1st
verse and tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ pretty energetic, too, as it neva
ends! Great job wit tha 3rd verse, too; can’t deny tha energy! Even
a 4th verse, here? Keepin’ it goin’! My Rating: 4.1
½time: Sounds like a nice-and-energetic
release, so far! Good shit, y’all! A 4.0-rated album, at tha moment!
08.
“Still Bootin’ Up” feat. Mia X
Keepin’
it goin’… >>> Lots of energy, here! Great job wit tha energetic beat
with tha crowd in tha background! Also, some of those trombones in tha
background! Y’all wildin’ out, here, throughout tha hook and tha 1st
verse! Tha 2nd verse’s continuin’ this craziness, too! All it has ta
sound like iz a bunch of energetic yellin’ and chantin’ and I’ll love it, lol!
A lil’ calmer with how tha voice sounds toward tha end, despite it still bein’
loud, lol? My Rating: 4.3
09.
Prelude
>>>
Just a beat, lol? Nice ta control my anticipation! My Rating: N/A
10.
“Nothin’ Better” feat. Dionne Davis
Dionne’s
back ta sing some mo! >>> Beat’s pretty funky and soundin’ cool, here…
Hearin’ Dionne on tha 1st verse, here; sounds nice… Tha rappin’
joins tha 1st verse, too, and it ain’t too bad… It sounded better on
tha previous joint Dionne collaborated on, but this still nice… I like tha
“tickity-tickity-tock” shit, tho… Not too bad fa a track, overall; kinda plain
fa me with tha non-stop singin’, at times… My
Rating: 3.6
11.
“Stunt Man (Remix)”
>>> Reminds me of some “dope man, dope man”-type shit; decent, so far… A long beginning but now, we got tha 1st verse… So far, it ain’t too bad; kinda plain, at times… Tha 2nd verse ain’t soundin’ that bad, here… Tha 3rd verse aight fa me… Long ending, here, with everyone bein’ “a stunt man,” lol. My Rating: 3.5
12.
“Eastbank Boy/Westbank Booty”
Nice
title… >>> Lots of shakin’
in tha beginning, here; nice… Pretty crazy wit tha loud vocals, lol; “bruh,”
y’all even sayin’, lol! I’ono how much interest I have in this, as it’s long
and repetitive… It ain’t too bad, at times, but at times, it bores me…
Craziness; it don’t stop… Almost sounds like Prince “ahh”in’ at tha end, lol;
decent fa a song that bored me… My
Rating: 3.7
13.
“Bootin’ Up (Remix)”
>>>
Y’all cuttin’ “up,” here… Just
diggin’ tha loud vocals and how y’all keep tha energy comin’! Not bad wit tha 1st
verse, here, and tha hook decent… Crazy shit throughout tha 2nd
verse; doesn’t stop, lol! Tha rest of this keeps it goin’… My Rating: 3.6
14.
Shot Out
>>>
Nice with a mix of Tupac’s music in tha background, here… Still, y’all vocals
way too loud! My Rating: N/A
Overall: Very energetic fa some
females! Vocals were really loud at times, but it still sounded like a nice
lil’ album fa tha 504.

01. “20 Years In The Jets”
Startin’ this off wit tha title track… How will it go? >>> No wonder you’re a DJ; it sounds like mixin’ a lil’ in tha beginning… Tha beat’s not bad and you sound pretty good wit how you’re deliverin’ tha rhymes here! Almost like Mystikal anger, lol! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty good like tha 1st verse; a lotta Louisiana shit goin’ on in err-one’s lives, lol. Tha 3rd verse explains dat you “left school;” no good… Tha 4th verse’s more shit from tha hood… Sounds like a long endin’ goin’ on here… My Rating: 4.3
02. “Don’t Start No Stuff” Feat. Mia x & Da Sha Ra
Looks like sampleish wit tha title? >>> Yea, sounds like sample-type shit all ova tha place for tha start… I like dat there’s a Bounce style here! There’s a gurl rappin’ on dis? Who iz it? This CD’s clean too? LOL… Tha “I bust like a nutsack” part ‘round 2:21 sounds gr8 wit how this gurl’s deliverin’ it!! My Rating: 4.0
03. “Shake It”
LOL, 1:12? >>> GR8 Bounce sounds to my earz!!! Interestin’ wit this “shake—shake it like a dog” shit!
My Rating: 4.5
04. “The Jubilee Mega Mix”
LOL, a 7:06 “megamix?” >>> I hear some Jade in tha beginning on a Bounce beat dat almost sounds like “Say I Yi Yi”… Also, “Cheeky Blakk” iz here too? No, I don’t know what tha next song iz… Now, it’s “Pump Tha Party”, lol. There’s a female rappin’ (must be Cheeky Blakk?) and it’s soundin’ good on this beat; DEFINITELY feelin’ tha mix of songs and err-thang! Now, I hear tha “dunn-dunn-dunn-dunn” shit ‘round 5:22 and tha chantin’s good ta hear. Good “biiiiitch” shit at tha end too! My Rating: 4.4
05. “Go Go Bounce (Remix)”
Let’s see what dis iz… >>> Sounds like it gon be a remix? You sound like you holdin’ it down in tha beginning! You just held dis bitch down all tha way wit your DJin’ and err-thang! I like all tha Louisiana cities bein’ shouted out at tha end! My Rating: 3.9
06. Round 1
What could this be wit a short length? >>> Sounds like I’m hearin’ a conversation from tha station or somethin’; sounds cool… My Rating: N/A
½time: Sounds good… You doin’ ya thang mixin’, DJin’ and all dat good shit! Tha average CD rating’s currently at 4.2!
07. “Fo’ Style (Short Version)” Feat. 2 Sweet
Lemme hear dis “style!” >>> Not bad for a start; I’m likin’ tha rappin’! A lil’ bit of a Mystikal speed “style” wit tha rappin’. Sounds like multiple rappers on this joint? Tha 1st part of tha 2nd verse sounded pretty good wit how y’all came through wit it and tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse’s REAL GR8 for tha streetz!! Feelin’ this voice wit tha delivery!! There’s a 3rd part of tha 3rd verse here, who iz tha “angel of darkness!” Tha gurl on tha 3rd verse’s REALLY rappin’ tight here wit tha rapid-fire hotness!!! Here’s a dude on tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse, “str8 from tha Crescent!” Good-ass shit from dat dude too!! My Rating: 4.6
08. “In Da House” Feat. Da Sha Ra
Let’s see… >>> Good start; gets you up! Tha 1st verse sounds good wit tha lady on tha track; spittin’ nothin’ but raps!! Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ this party goin’; good shit wit tha flava! Tha 3rd verse also keeps it good wit tha quality! My Rating: 3.8
09. “Jubilee All (Stop Pause)”
Looks catchy and DAMN, 8:38 on tha length? Shiiiiit… >>> You sound catchy in tha beginning wit tha “biiiiitch!” How many dances’ll be in dis joint? I’m feelin’ tha Bounce beat ta go wit dis… I remember MTV in 2004 wit their “Dirty States Of America” and when they showed New Orleans, they mentioned like 500+ dances, lol!! This iz perfect fa dat thought!! “Cake Seat?” Did I hear dat right? There’s a new dance like every 20 seconds!! I can’t catch exactly how ta say some of these dances, lol!!! Switched a lil’ bit ‘round 4:06 to some “shake it like a dog”-type shit. Now, we’re back to all these dances, like 30 seconds later! Even down ta tha “virgins,” ROFL!! “Do tha Duck; quack, quack!”
“Do tha Pork Chop” @ 6:24!!
“Do tha Bus Stop” at 7:10!! LOL, what happened at 7:21; just gave up? But yea, DEFINITELY classic!! Even tha reviewer’s outta breath (me)!! LOL, here it iz, back at 7:50!! What weird break… My Rating: 4.9
10. “Party People”
What will this sound like? >>> Anotha “dance,” ROFL? How many iz dis now? LOL @ tha upbeat BPM shit!! Even tha “Perkilator” (sp?), lol? Keepin’ tha dances up! REAL GOOD wit all dis once again!! Really representin’ fa all kindz of people; you must’ve sold SOOOOOOOOOOO much wit tha way you comin’ through wit all these dances!!! My Rating: 4.6
11. “20 Years In The Jets (Instrumental)”
LOL, thanx for tha instrumental; it pays. See #1 fa tha review!

Next up, we got DJ Jubilee “20 Years In The Jets”; looks like it’ll be good! Start Time: 1:15 PM | End Time: 2:09 PM
Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.
