Review #1,880: Hype Records "Hype Enough Records (Limited Edition)"

Reviewed on 12.19.2019 (Review #1,880)

Keepin’ these reviewz goin’, as I’m gettin’ up & am hungry. However, I’m doin’ a review, first! Hype Records Hype Enough Records (Limited Edition), released in 1999 on Hype Enough Records! Start Time: 12:25 PM | End Time: 1:50 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Souljafalyfe”
Producer: KLC
>>> Nice lil’ intro, here; sounds like tha undaground of New York or somethin’… I know this CD’s, like, a Soulja Slim compilation, so these tracks are comin’ from various years… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty dope; Slim, you got this real-ass, gangsta-ass shit on lock! Tha hook’s tha title that just repeats but it’s official; all about tha life of a “soulja!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s official, once again; you know what it iz! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Made For Walkin’” feat. KLC, Warren Mays & Mr. Serv-On
Producer: KLC
I know I know this one but not sure when I reviewed it or heard it… Interestin’ cars, in tha beginning; intense…? Of course, all about tha “souljaz” on tha hook, here; nice, includin’ tha quiet-soundin’ beat… Tha 1st verse’s nice from you; you know what it iz! Tha 2nd verse’s nice ta hear, of course; all about dem “souljaz,” once again…! My Current Rating: 4.3

03. “Powda Bag”
Producer: KLC
My Current Rating: 4.8

04. “Kickin’ It For Them Hoes”
Producer: KLC
>>> This title looks familiar, as well… Okay, I neva reviewed it but I have it on Soulja Fa Lyfe… Of course, beat’s hype & how you hold it down fa “them hoes,” on tha verses & hook, here! My Rating: 4.5

05. “Bitch Nigga” feat. Slugger & Mushatt
Producer: KLC
>>> Anotha one from Soulja Fa Lyfe, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s dope; all about holdin’ it down fa your streetz & tha streetz! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s soundin’ nice from you; keep this G-shit up! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, soundin’ great, too; good shit… Luvin’ how gutta and street tha dude on tha 3rd verse sounds; you can hear dem roots in tha voice! Got you on tha endin’, here, chantin’ for dem “BN”s; good shit! My Rating: 4.5

06. “You Got It” feat. 6 Shot
Producer: KLC
My Current Rating: 4.7

07. “Trife Life” (6 Shot, Corey “C” & Lil’ Shaw)
Producer: Big Ro
>>> Nice gangsta-soundin’ beat fa tha ‘90s, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty nice… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, as well as tha hook; good shit fa da “trife” livin’… Tha 3rd verse sounds like some1 else, uncredited? They’re “19, ‘bout ta be 20,” as they say; good lil’ contribution… My Rating: 4.2

08. “Word Up” feat. C-Nille Da Bandit & 6 Shot
Producer: Kreeper
>>> Sounds like a gutta-soundin’ beat fa tha streetz, here; definitely nice…! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it’s nice… Not much of a hook, here? Still flows nicely, I guess? Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here; gotta luv tha dedication fa tha streetz, here! Nice job, C-Nille! Now, 6 Shot on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit just as much street shit as tha rest of y’all, here; you know what it iz! My Rating: 4.4

09. “Killa Konnections” feat. C-Nille Da Bandit & 6 Shot
Producer: Kreeper
>>> Hook sounds nice; sounds like a great sequel to tha previous track from all three of y’all, on here! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & yeah, I feel tha same way I did for tha lineup, once again! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well; nothin’ much else ta say… You appear on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit some nice street shit, as always…! I like how it went acapella, at some point; dope shit! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Combat” feat. Corey “C” & King Ric
Producer: Hakeem
>>> Beat/vibe sounds a lil’ jammin’ but at tha same time, for tha streetz, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & you know what it iz wit these streetz; good shit! Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice wit King Ric wit tha singin’ about “Combat!” Sounds like tha Corey “C” dude on tha 2nd verse, here… Almost thought it was gon be C-Murder, who was born Corey, lol; N’awlinzness! Anyway, this dude got some good, consistent rhymes goin’ on, here; can’t complain… Got anotha dude on tha 3rd verse, here (this really tha King Ric dude?), soundin’ good fa this beat… I always keep thinkin’ tha dude sayin’, “And, tha BPM…,” on tha hook; random… My Rating: 4.1

11. “Da Heist” (6 Shot, C-Nille Da Bandit & Lil’ Shaw)
Producer: Big Ro
>>> Sounds good; more on tha east coast-soundin’ fa tha beat, once again? I think those two were good enough; rather have tha south! Tha 1st verse not too bad but tha 2nd verse sounds like someone from tha east or somethin’; good but not sinkin’ in my interest… Tha rest sounds okay; I just think I’m done with this non-Louisiana-soundin’ music… My Rating: 3.7

½time: Almost all these tracks are hella dope, here; you know what it iz wit you, Soulja! Just a lil’ thrown off by how tha New York sound randomly comes wit tha production…? Either way, a 4.4-rated CD, so far; keep it up!

12. “Slippin’”
Producer: KLC
My Current Rating: 4.9

13. “Lil’ Bit” feat. Big Reppa & QB1
Producer: KLC
>>> You sound a lil’ like B.G. on tha hook, here; beat’s chill/old-soundin’ fa “’94,” here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & it cool; likin’ tha Big Band music in tha background, at times…! Got Reppa up next, comin’ through wit some good-soundin’ rhymes, as well; likin’ his vibe ta go wit yours… Iz it me or do these verses seem like they drag? My Rating: 4.0

14. “All I See Is Green” (6 Shot, Kay 9Mil & R.E.G.)
Producer: Big Ro
>>> Sounds okay but this sounds too much like New York, on tha beat… “I’m comin’ from LA;” this don’t sound like you? Maybe, you mean “New Orleans, LA,” rather than “Los Angeles?” I’ono but I think my non-Louisiana mind’s wanderin’… Either way, a decent 1st verse, here… Damn, not even ½way through this? Startin’ ta bore me fast wit this non-Magnolia Slim voice… My Rating: 3.5

15. “Free Up The Cream” (Hype Click)
Producer: Big Ro
>>> Anotha non-Louisiana-soundin’ track… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha rhymes sound consistent—fuck! This 6:45? Why? Even tha “Jay-Z” references; yuck! Where’s tha Louisiana vibe?! Accordin’ to tha 2nd verse, this has “S-I-X-S-H-O-T” on tha feature; nice! Like I said, tha consistent lyrics are nice; tha beat ain’t really my style, tho. My Rating: 3.4

16. “How Ya Figga”
Producer: Craig B
>>> Much shorter! This & tha last song’s average length equals, like, two normal songs… Hearin’ you (finally) on tha 1st verse & it sounds nice wit this Jamaican sample in tha background, here; nice… Hook sounds catchy as hell wit how you say tha title; gotta luv tha gangsta shit! Here you are on tha 2nd verse, as you “take a hit off tha blunt;” str8-up soulja shit! My Rating: 4.3

17. “Watch What U Say” (The Cartel)
Producer: Craig B
>>> Sounds nice wit this ‘90s beat… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice, as well as what’s goin’ on wit tha verse… Sounds great wit whomever you’re collaboratin’ with… Lol, just cut off, outta nowhere… My Rating: 4.2

18. “All Hail The King” (King Ric)
Producer: Hakeem
>>> “King Ric” from one of tha other—yeah, that’s him on tha verse, here, soundin’ good… My Rating: 4.1

19. “Victim Of The System” (Mista Real)
Producer: Hakeem
>>> This one ain’t you but it sounds good, here… My Rating: 3.8

20. “3rd Ward Convicted Felons” (3.C.F.)
Producer: DJ Tee
>>> Sounds a lil’ quieter on tha vocals, here but still cool… Nice rhymes fa tha verse, here, even tho tha beat back to tha New York shit… My Rating: 3.6

21. “Suck A Dick” (9 M.M.)
Producer: DJ Chill
>>> This one cool; all these last tracks pretty quick… My Rating: 3.9

22. “Bitches Come A Dime A Dozen” (The Black Hand)
Producer: Big Ro
>>> A good lil’ vibe ta end thangz off, here… Feelin’ tha collab, here; good lil’ vibe… My Rating: 4.0

Overall: Great job wit this one…! Didn’t realize all of what tha IDs of some of tha people were on here till I looked on Discogs… I updated tha info, now; should look good.

01. Intro
Produced by: O’Dell
>>> Nice piano intro from O’Dell, here…! My Rating: N/A

02. “Ghetto Boy” feat. Mac, Kane & Abel
Producer: Craig B
>>> Nice beat, here; diggin’ tha hook from you, C! Almost sounds like you’re breathin’ heavy but it’s “a lil’, a lil’, a lil’…,” lol… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, here; good shit! Got tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit they “ghetto”-ass; nice… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it keeps this shit on-n-poppin’; good job! Got a “ghetto”-soundin’ outro goin’ on, here; nice… My Rating: 4.4

03. “Like A Jungle”
Producer: MP
>>> Kickin’ it off wit a quiet-soundin’ C on tha intro, here, as well as tha hook… Typical “it’s like a jungle, sometimes…”-sampled lyrics, here; decent… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ tha grimy vibes of your rhymes, here; good shit… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & that’s that shit: “As I blaze this weed, mixed with hash…!” I’m likin’ these minute-long outros goin’ on, at tha end of each track; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Gangsta Walk” feat. Snoop Dogg
Producer: C-Murder & L.T. Hutton
>>> Diggin’ how you repeat tha “gangsta” part, just how you repeated tha “lil’” in “Ghetto Boy”; good hook! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds dope, ova this beat! Got Snoop on tha 2nd verse and this a nice blend of tha west & your southern-ass; good shit! Tha 3rd verse iz nice, here; diggin’ what you spittin’…! Of course, “Sometimes, I gotta bust a nut & sometimes, I don’t;” I co-sign dat! My Rating: 4.3

05. Skit
>>> Likin’ how you used tha “Gangsta Walk” beat on this skit’s beat; good skit… Gotta “go thru tha front door,” here…! My Rating: N/A

06. “Livin’ Legend” feat. Master P
Producer: MP
>>> Sounds good wit you on tha intro, as well as tha hook; nice beat, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and yeah, “I used to dream…,” when it comes to success. It’s like me, now; I achieved tha success but this probation shit & shit makes me feel like I’m a 24-year-old livin’ in a 31-year-old’s body; doesn’t fit! I live tha dream, now; I no longer dream it, so it hurts to not live it, at tha moment…! Got P on tha 2nd verse and, whoa, what energy! Dope collab!! My Rating: 4.3

07. “Money Talks” feat. Silkk & Fiend
Producer: KLC
>>> Beat sounds like a smooth, gangsta-soundin’ beat; good shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it str8; let’s see how tha verses come out… Hearin’ Silkk on tha 1st verse and it’s aight; flow’s a lil’ off, at times… Got you on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ nice wit dis life-of-a-gangsta shit; keep it goin’! Mo shit on tha 2nd verse, here, wit Fiend poppin’ in, soundin’ hype & dope! My Rating: 4.1

08. “Street Keeps Talkin’” feat. Dez
Producer: Dez of Sons Of Funk
>>> A nice lil’ singin’ hook from Dez and a female, here; beat pretty smooth, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it sounds good. I agree wit tha “tryna make a change” part. As much as I’ve been ready ta “make a change,” nothin’ wants to develop. Luckily, just this month, I’m slowly shakin’ back…, finally! Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on from you, here, soundin’ nice; gotta “go straight!” I agree wit how “these fools wouldn’t let me.” That’s how I was, back then. Luckily, when you run into trouble, it makes you stronger. That’s why, every bullshit move that happened to me, this year, I don’t regret it! My Rating: 3.7

09. WBALLS
>>> I like how this “station” iz called “WBALLS;” What BALLS, lol!! My Rating: N/A

10. “Ghetto Millionaire” feat. Kurupt, Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg
Producer: C-Murder & L.T. Hutton
>>> Beat sounds good, for this west vs. south collab… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice, wit your attitude…! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ okay; simple and sweet, I guess? Kurupt’s on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit “only surroundin’ [himself] wit” tha Gs; good shit! Got Snoop on tha 3rd verse, deliverin’ his nice, west-soundin’ flow fa you, here; good job… Likin’ how Nate appears on tha final hook, here; definitely dope…! My Rating: 4.0

11. “Lord Help Us” feat. Rico of Sons Of Funk
Producer: John Rhone & Ontario Haynes
>>> A slow-soundin’ hook and beat, here; ehh, I’ono… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and that’s pretty deep: “Daddy said, ‘One day, son, you gon be faced with this problem. …Gotta solve it!’;” that’s how I feel, this year! Despite me likin’ that line, I don’t really fuck wit this; I’m not into tha depressin’ shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this sad vibe continues… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here & tha depressin’ vibes continue… Not really for me, overall; that’s all I gotta say… My Rating: 2.6

12. Bitch Niggas
>>> Sounds nice wit tha party-soundin’ effects (that’s what it sounds like, ta me); I think it’s traffic? Yeah… My Rating: N/A

13. “On My Enemies”
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Sounds like an okay beat/hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like some consistent rhymes from you, here; good shit… Got you on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear… Got an outro from you, here, soundin’ nice, once again… My Rating: 3.9

14. “Freedom” feat. Anita & Porsha

½time: A 3.8-rated CD, so far; most of it’s dope but I’m not inta tha sad songs…

15. “Lil’ Nigga” feat. Master P
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Sounds good, on tha hook; feelin’ tha beat and tha not-depressin’ dark vibe! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from P, soundin’ nice on tha mic… Got you on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ pretty dark on tha mic; definitely feelin’ it… Anotha nice outro comin’ from you, here; you know what it iz…! My Rating: 4.2

16. “Murder & Daz” feat. Daz Dillinger
Producer: C-Murder & L.T. Hutton
>>> Beat ain’t bad, here; more on tha west vs. south-type… Got Daz on tha 1st verse, soundin’ pretty energetic and nice; feelin’ it… Got tha hook soundin’ pretty anthemic, wit all tha “hey (hey), ho (ho);” good job, Daz… Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse, C & it sounds good; handlin’ this west vs. south beat well… I like how you rhyme “masturbation” wit “hesitation;” interestin’… A broke bitch on tha outro, here, as well as y’all handlin’ her; nice… My Rating: 4.2

17. Piano (Skit)
>>> Sounds like a random place, wit a random “piano,” here… Bad “yeast infection” odor, it smells like? My Rating: N/A

18. “Nasty Chick” feat. Rico of Sons Of Funk
Producer: John Rhone & Ontario Haynes
>>> Beat sounds good; let’s see what you got, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds good about tha fuckin’… Tha beat sounds like it’s samplin’ somethin’ catchy but I can’t think of it—somethin’ in Donkey Kong? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it str8; keep it goin’… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice; y’all wit y’all relationships… My Rating: 3.8

19. “I Remember” feat. Magic & Porsha
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> An okay beat; not sure if I feel Porsha on tha hook, due to sadness… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it aight; not much ta say, here… Got Magic on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit an okay verse; thought he’d be more aggress—oh yeah, it’s more on tha sad tip… I mean, it’s more on a reminiscent tip but it leads to today’s sadness? My Rating: 2.9

20. Dedication
>>> Thanx for tha “dirty south” “Dedication,” here… My Rating: N/A

21. “Where We Wanna” feat. Goodie Mob
Producer: KLC
>>> Sounds like a dope beat from tha Drum Major, here; good lil’ hook, too… Sounds like it has a hype to tha vibe, so I’ll give it props… Good lil’ 1st verse from tha Mob, here; feelin’ tha energy…! Even mo Goodie Mob on tha 2nd verse, here; feelin’ these consistent rhymes! Then, on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, you make an appearance, C; sounds good…! Oh, we got Cee-Lo on tha 3rd part of tha 2nd verse, soundin’ like a scary character/ghost (that’s what he used to remind me of); nice collab! My Rating: 4.3

22. “Don’t Wanna Be Alone” feat. Jazz
Producer: John Rhone & Ontario Haynes
>>> Sounds like anotha sad track; I’ono, here, on tha hook & beat… Got you on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ okay… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s ehh/okay… My Rating: 2.8

23. “Still Makin’ Moves” feat. Master P & Mo B. Dick

24. “Can’t Hold Me Back” feat. Magic & Q.B.
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ hook; beat ain’t too bad, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds okay; doesn’t exactly sound like you? Hearin’ you on tha outro, tho; pretty nice, here… My Rating: 3.8

25. Phone Call
>>> Pretty aggressive; I know how it be wit dem phone calls…! My Rating: N/A

Review #1,822: U.N.L.V. "Mac Melph Calio"

Reviewed on 10.14.2019 (Review #1,822)

Despite me bein’ in 1998 in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, sometimes, I had gotten CDs that were mislabeled. With that bein’ said, my next review iz really from 1995: U.N.L.V. Mac Melph Calio, released on Cash Money Records & was produced by Mannie Fresh. Start Time: 12:27 PM | End Time: 1:29 PM

01. Intro
>>> Diggin’ tha beat sample! Gotta luv this dark vibe fa Cash Money! Gotta luv tha aggression from tha speaker, as well! My Rating: N/A

02. “Nigga I’m ‘Bout It”
>>> Sounds ironic fa Halloween comin’ up, as it has a sample goin’ on in tha beat, here! Definitely nice wit this hook and beat!! Tha 1st verse iz pretty gutta, to tha bone!! Definitely feelin’ tha aggression; pure heat, here!! “Don’t get too close or tha heat just might scorch ya!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and y’all goin’ off, continuously, wit tha consistency! Gotta luv it! As tha verse continuously goes on, it seems long but tha quality of it makes it not boring…! At 5:06, tha beat stopped & tha ramblin’-rap went crazy! My Rating: 4.7

03. “3rd Ward Court Date!!”
Just hate thinkin’ ‘bout tha “court date” comin’ up! >>> Beat & hook’s pretty nice, as it’s a lil’ laidback fa tha ‘90s & dat good, undaground rap… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like your typical, ‘90s-soundin’ delivery, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and even tho y’all “stuck like Chuck,” I know y’all got through it! I feel “stuck like Chuck,” as well; it’s rough…! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s your ‘90s slice of pie, here… My Rating: 3.9

04. “Pop ‘Em Up”
>>> A ‘90s “car” scene, here, as it sounds pretty grimy… Between tha last song & this, I think of N.W.A., wit their outspoken-asses; gotta dig tha perspective! At 1:00, tha track starts & it’s pretty dope, between tha hook & beat. Feelin’ how gangsta this N.W.A.-inspired shit gets, durin’ tha 1st verse; plates breakin’!! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice; gotta dig it! “I don’t need stars on my chest to make my fuckin’ name bigga;” I dig it! That’s how I feel about myself; I’m stronger in tha brain but I remain tha same (person)! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds like a nice dose of a paranoia trip; good shit…! Tha 4th verse’s soundin’ good, too, as tha rhymes keep flowin’, here…! Keepin’ tha 5th verse comin’ along wit some gunshots, here, keepin’ it “G,” to tha fullest! Sounds like y’all havin’ more fun than havin’ paranoia durin’ tha outro, here; nice U.N.L.V. shit…! My Rating: 4.2

05. “No Struggle, No Progress”
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat; Christmas bells bein’ sampled? Almost sounds like it but I’m definitely feelin’ tha trippy start, here…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and this gangsta tale’s soundin’ pretty nice; feelin’ it a lot on this beat! Dude on tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse’s pretty dope, wit his rhymes; gotta luv y’all…! Tha last 56 seconds of tha beat playin’ iz pretty dope; good shit! My Rating: 4.5

06. “Mannie Fresh Mix”
>>> Bouncin’ up & down ta this “mix;” good job, Fresh! My Rating: 4.3

½time: A 4.3-rated CD, so far; great gangsta tales! Keep ‘em comin’, y’all!

07. “Eddie Bow II”
>>> Great party vibe ta start thangz off…! Hearin’ y’all “bow” on tha hook reminds me of this dude from Baton Rouge that I no longer deal with. He claims he started tha “bow” shit (most-noted on Kevin Gates’ 2009 “I’m A Grinder” song). Meanwhile, here y’all are, 14 years ahead of that! Glad y’all here; good 1st verse, as well! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice and funny that y’all say, “Nigga, you ain’t tough;” irony fa tha future “bow?” Tha rest of tha rappin’, as well as tha chantin’, sounds nice, toward tha end; good shit…! My Rating: 4.2

08. “Come Up” feat. Magnolia Slim
>>> Sounds like a cool lil’ beat sample/sound, in tha beginning…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like a regular-soundin’ ‘90s flow, here… Tha hook sounds like a good, simple hook; nice job, y’all… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good fa tha ‘90s, once again… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds like a struggle ta keep tha mission to survive alive. Luckily, y’all CMR representaz were able to build success from tha street life… Got tha 4th verse, here & I’m diggin’ tha gritty vibes of tha voice & delivery, here; Louisiana in tha house…! My Rating: 4.2

09. “Mac Melph Calio” feat. Mr. Ivan
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ hook & beat; beat’s pretty dope wit tha sound! I know I’ve heard this one before; just re-reviewin’ it, while I’m in tha mood… Got tha 1st verse goin’ on and it’s soundin’ nice; y’all reppin’ nicely, here… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s soundin’ good, of course… Tha 3rd verse’s pretty dope, wit tha fast-soundin’ rappin’; gotta dig it…! Glad Mr. Ivan was able to join y’all on this track, here; good shit, as tha 4th verse progresses…! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Shake, Shake It”
>>> Nice lil’ sample in tha beginning, here, as Aaliyah & DMX used for their collab, later on…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all got this shit on lock; good shit…! Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds good fa these hoes, here; gotta make ‘em “shake!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ pretty eerie wit tha darker sounds in tha beat! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and tha voice’s soundin’ more on tha southern tip, here; definitely nice…! My Rating: 4.3

11. “BGz True Story” (BGz)
>>> Kickin’ it off wit tha typical bounce-soundin’ sample… Got B.G. rappin’ on tha 1st verse, wit this lil’ sample; definitely nice! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too… Almost thought I wasn’t gon rate this, due to it bein’ just a sampler. However, I’ll give it its rating, due to all tha rappin’… My Rating: 4.2

12. “Hood Mac”
>>> Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good on this ‘90s-styled beat… Got tha hook goin’ on, right nah & it sounds good ta hear, fa tha ‘90s… Tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ more energetic; gotta keep tha energy comin’! My Rating: 4.0

13. “Local 580 Fuck Tha Police” feat. BGz, Black, Jack-O, Lil’ Slim, Mr. Ivan & Ms. Tee
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ hook from Ms. Tee, here; duckin’ tha 12! Beat’s a simple-soundin’ ‘90s style, which fits ta fit all these peeps on here! Hearin’ B.G. on tha 1st verse and he sounds good, as well as Ms. Tee’s “fuck tha police” background vocals helpin’ out…! Got tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse goin’ on, here & dude got tha aggressive flow, here…! Got tha 1st part of tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ good wit tha female-styled perspective of duckin’ 12; go, Ms. Tee! Here comes tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ good ta hear; gotta luv tha 504! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd part of tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ good fa tha “block” & tha streetz! My Rating: 4.5

Overall: Nice job, y’all; glad y’all got tha reputation y’all deserved! Legends in tha 5-0-4 game! Plenty more U.N.L.V. durin’ my marathon! We’ll see when I get to those discs!

R.I.P. Video #60: Yella Boy (U.N.L.V.)

Broadcasting from Concrete City, here in Nanticoke, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog, here, sadly reporting anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community. A special edition, today, April 5, 2018.

Today, April 5, 2018, marks 21 years since tha murder of New Orleans, LA rapper, Yella Boy. Yella Boy was born Albert Thomas in 1975. During the early '90s, Thomas joined tha rap group, U.N.L.V., which consisted of Tec-9, Lil' Ya & Yella Boy, himself. U.N.L.V. was one of tha 1st acts signed with Cash Money Records during tha early '90s. U.N.L.V. released their debut album, 6th & Baronne, in 1993. In 1994, they released their 2nd album, Straight Out Tha Gutta. In 1995, their 3rd album, Mac Melph Calio, was released, as well as Scrap Up!!. Their 4th album, Uptown 4 Life, was released in 1996. During 1996, life drew a hint of darkness for Thomas, as Thomas and Cash Money rep, Baby a.k.a. Birdman, started gettin' into it. U.N.L.V. was rumored to be dropped from Cash Money Records and Thomas pistol-whipped Baby. In a form of retaliation, many believe Baby killed Thomas. On April 5, 1997, Thomas was shot in tha head and killed in a dangerous drug deal at only 22 years-old. After Thomas' death, U.N.L.V. released their Greatest Hits compilation in 1997. After a four-year hiatus, U.N.L.V. returned in 2001 with their 5th album, The Return of U.N.L.V.: Trend Setters, on Blazin' South Records. In 2003, U.N.L.V. hit tha streets with their 6th album, Keep It Gutta, courtesy of B Real Entertainment. In 2004, U.N.L.V.'s 7th album, Gutta 4 Life, was also released on B Real Entertainment.

Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Crazy how you say, “And, I’mma blow like tha World Trade.” It’s almost like you predicted tha future fa three years later! No wonder why you a legend! Tha ones that die early are tha ones that predict our future! Crazy! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty dope, still! Tha consistent rhymes don’t stop! Can’t wait ta hear tha rest of this CD, ya heard me?! Went all tha way to tha end by shuttin’ “tha studio door!” My Rating: 4.8

15. “Get High With Me” feat. Mystikal & Tre-Nitty
Carlos, Carlos, Carlos! >>> A slower, drier beat… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds aight; nothin’ special, despite tha “high” content… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and there’s not much goin’ on wit this laidback vibe, on tha flow… And, Tre on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ betta wit his faster-soundin’ rhymes… Now, we got Mystikal on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ betta wit his aggression, of course!
