Review #1,160: Rudye "Beats By Dr. Dre (The Mixtape)"

Reviewed on 5.25.2012 (Review #1,160)

Comin’ up next, it’s dat boy Rudye Beats By Dr. Dre (The Mixtape)! Start Time: 10:38 PM | End Time: 10:57 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2012 CD Review (Review #1,160) reviewed on 5.25.2012 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Do My Thang” Feat. J Fletcha / Professor Griff (Skit)
>>> Lol, goin’ back to tha 2001 dayz/start of 8th grade, here, wit this “Fast Lane” beat! Oh, tha dayz where there was, like, no gayness! Well, 2012-updated female vocals on tha hook are a lil’ ehh for me, but once you start rappin’ non-stop about your “smokin’,” I’m startin’ ta feel betta, especially wit a 2012 perspective! Good job wit your kick-assness, Rudye!! Fletch ain’t too bad on tha 2nd verse; glad tha character’s here! I can feel tha skit at tha end, too… My Rating: 4.3

02. “Back Down”
>>> Lol, tha dayz of 9th grade wit this 50 Cent beat; Rudye, time ta stand up, lol! Not bad wit tha rhymes, here; I’ll give you props fa rappin’ on this beat. My Rating: 3.6

03. “Gettin’ Funky” Feat. IL Duce
Likin’ tha title… >>> Good vibe comin’ from you on this beat… Lol, an unsourced IL Duce on tha 2nd verse? His rhymes are definitely kickin’ ass, here; I’d give him a 3x plus over you wit this one, here! My Rating: 4.1

04. “Get You Some”
>>> You fillin’ tha smooth vibe, here; lol, those dayz of listenin’ to tha radio stations on Long Island, NY! It’s like, damn, can we live anotha 2001? Such a classic year!! It was tha only complete/full year I lived on Long Island, NY, wit my music taste! Rhymes ain’t too bad, here; I’ll give you some props fa this, overall… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Ghetto Boy”
>>> Lol, prolly tha oldest beat on this mixtape; rhymes ain’t too bad, here, as I’m feelin’ your day-by-day hood rhymes, here. For a freestyle-type joint, this a lil’ long; those other short lengths were better… My Rating: 3.7

06. Professor Griff (Skit)
>>> Sounds a lil’ like yes and no for me; feelin’ tha anti-mainstream belief, but I’m not too sure about how everything has to be in a “grown-up” perspective… My Rating: N/A

½time: This ain’t too bad of a mixtape, so far, Rudye; a 3.9-rated CD rating, currently, which iz a nice rating for a jacked-beat CD.

07. “Roll Up”
Sounds like you make tha mood sound real nice, here, especially wit dat music video!! I honestly didn’t realize how much you luv dat green!!! :) Really turned this into a “smoker’s” anthem!!! My Current Rating: 4.5

08. “Get Money” Feat. Bengie Bee
>>> Oh, beat brings back those 2000s-type memories, here! R.I.P. Nate Dogg! I remember when I first heard tha original version on tha radio; I must’ve had an excited feelin’, to where it was in my top 10 countdown @ #01 instantly! Oh, bein’ 12-years-old was tha shit, and tha music tastes really got into me, still today!! Gotta give y’all props fa rappin’ on this beat, even though tha “money” shit iz really not for me… My Rating: 3.5

09. “Victim Of Lust” / Professor Griff (Skit)
>>> Lol @ tha old sound, for a start… This ain’t too bad of a song, overall; nothin’ for me to say, here… As for tha skit, sounds a lil’ random? My Rating: 3.4

10. “Run Dat Shit”
>>> Lol @ “In Da Club” beat; almost sounds like tha most poppiest beat… until tha Nicki Minaj & Lil’ Wayne dayz, smh. Lol, it makes “In Da Club” sound classic, yet, all them blew up in tha same decade? Oh, I have to admit, I definitely miss those dayz!! I’m feelin’ your rhymes, here; they’re nice and consistent… You even got a outro, here; thumbs up ta tha, “Free Beezy!,” part! I remember I told you about him bein’ in jail; hope he’s doin’ okay! My Rating: 3.7

11. “Freestyle 101” (Jason Lyric)
Just Lyric on this? >>> Lol, “The Set Up” beat, takin’ it back to tha dayz where I first moved into tha house I currently live in! Not really into this typical, 2010s-type rap flow, but tha lyrics are good… My Rating: 3.1

12. “The Red Planet” Feat. Briel
Anotha bonus… >>> A new joint? Long length…; iz that Briel again? Why iz she neva sourced? Here you are on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some nice, consistent rhymes, ta deliver to those really listenin’… Tha length makes it sound boring, but at least your rhymes don’t disappoint. My Rating: 3.2

Overall: For a jacked-beat CD, you did a pretty-good job; most people I say, “wtf,” to, but you made some of these jointz sound catchy. Hell, you brought back a bunch of memories wit tha choices, unlike some of these so-called people, these dayz, that pick tha most-popular beats!

Reviewed on 5.25.2012 (Review #1,158)

I have a lil’ time, here; lemme review somethin’… Here’s my review for tha TRU Records/DeadlySoundz Music release: The Recruits TRU City! FYI: The Recruits are Rudye, IL Duce & 2 Saint. Start Time: 8:58 PM | End Time: 9:21 PM

01. “Welcome To Tru City” Feat. Briel
Lemme hear what y’all got goin’ on, here… >>> Interestin’ female vocal start; nice hook! Nice shit comin’ from Rudye & IL, here; gotta give props to tha quality of tha Southern rhymes! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Picture Me Tru” Feat. C-Murder & M-11
>>> Nice start wit C on tha hook; it’s all about bein’ “a tru nigga.” :tu Got Rudye startin’ off wit tha 1st part, comin’ through wit some great shit fa tha streets of BR. Ooh, an actual verse from C on tha 2nd verse; good shit comin’ from him, as always! You know what it iz wit dat “tru”, gangsta shit! Got M-11 comin’ through on tha 3rd verse, deliverin’ a nice, consistent verse fa y’all and this album! My Rating: 4.4

03. “But U Luv It” Feat. Max Minelli
>>> Really likin’ tha unique production, here; sounds like a castle and celetic soldiers and warriors ‘bout ta battle, like in Final Fantasy VI, lol! Good hook from Max, comin’ through wit his “double” method! IL Duce’s on tha 1st verse, and he comin’ through wit a progression, when it comes from “startin’ from nothin’” to where he at now (and, even when this CD was released in early 2011)! Ooh, trap-type shit from Rudye on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit a full “plate” fa anyone dat comes through, on tha block! My Rating: 4.5

04. “D.S.R.” Feat. Down Bad, Max Minelli, Derty & C-Murder
A.K.A.: “Dumb”; lol, I already know what it iz wit this one! My Current Rating: 4.6

05. “Slide It N”
>>> Sounds like some ‘90s R&B-type start in tha beginning; a lil’ catchy, so far… Beat sounds like it has a good vibe, here; nice, consistent shit from Duce on tha 1st verse… Lol, Rudye gettin’ his sex game on, here, throughout tha 2nd verse; gotta luv his perspective, lol!! My Rating: 4.2

06. “Keep It Tru” Feat. Pennie
>>> I remember this from one of my radio shows from a while ago; C-Murder randomly on tha sample, but not on tha ID (just a sample). Tha hook sounds nice from Pennie, here; got Rudye deliverin’ some PG-type shit fa tha ladies, this time, lol. Either way, I enjoyed tha lyrics to tha previous joint betta, but this still iz listenable… Got a 2 on tha 2nd verse…; lol, I’m just playin’! You already know it’s Duce on tha 2nd verse, lol… Tha rhymes ain’t too bad, either; not bad, overall. My Rating: 3.9

½time: A 4.3-rated CD, currently; that’s pretty good, especially since y’all are consistent at all times!!!

07. “A Lot Of Wayz”
Lol, “alot” iz not a compound word! >>> Sounds like a familiar song? I know I have heard this somewhere… I don’t remember where (I did clear most of my iTunes library not too long ago), but this iz more consistent shit from 2 (lol)! Even Rudye comin’ through wit some crazy-ass shit; you know this shit’s undeniable, lyrically, for tha streetz!! My Current Rating: 4.6

08. “Gamer” Feat. Jason Lyric & Jonea Lyric
>>> Lol, oh yea, I remember this from my radio show! You know what? This and tha previous song was prolly from Rudye’s Gutta Baby mixtape from 2010 that was sent to me! Oh, gotta compare tha ratings so I’m not rating below! *Compares ratings* Lol, IL Duce was tha only feature, but now, I got a list! Too bad I aired it on my radio show without tha features listed! Or wait, this iz longer? Yup, it iz… *Hears tha Lyric peoples’ parts* Ehh, prolly could’ve just left it as Rudye & IL Duce… My Rating: 4.2

09. “Yeah Nigga”
>>> Beat’s a lil’ on tha quieter tip, for a start; rhymes are good from Duce, here. Tha hook sounds pretty tight; I like those mysterious, quiet vocals wit tha title bein’ said! Good job, IL; you held down tha 2nd verse, too… My Rating: 4.3

10. “Raw”
>>> Sounds like someone ‘bout ta rip someone’s head off wit that sample on tha hook, lol! Not bad wit tha rhymes comin’ from Duce, here, on tha 1st verse… However, it sounds like Rudye has some betta shit ta offer on tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse; gotta feel his “raw” feelings, lol! Tha 2nd verse starts wit IL Duce, and he’s got a bunch of goodbyez for these haters; nice and consistent, at its finest! Got some Rudye on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, too, comin’ through wit his non-stop “grind,” here! Thumbs up fa tha hood content, as well as tha “cramp” line, lol. Got a 3rd verse, here, and it’s IL Duce startin’ it off, wit some catchy rhymes! Lol, from tha “hourglass” to tha “shittin’ on you niggaz,” I’m definitely feelin’ tha shit bein’ brought to tha table, here! Ooh, Rudye’s comin’ through wit a lot of catchiness in tha beginning of tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse! Really liked how there wasn’t much of tha beat when he was deliverin’ some tight shit, but either way, tha whole 2nd ½ of tha verse was nice! My Rating: 4.4

11. “My Turn” (Briel)
>>> More mysterious vocals comin’ through on tha hook? Briel’s voice? Really likin’ how it sounds! Oh, a lil’ ehh wit tha “Video Phone” quote; ehh, but it’s not too bad, overall… Oh, this iz only tha female, here? Interestin’; a lil’ Faith Evans-y-soundin’, on tha 2nd verse, which sounds like a lil’ bit of sexiness iz here… My Rating: 3.3

12. “Post & Lean”
>>> Lol, tha volume’s so much louder than tha previous joint, lol! Feelin’ tha hook, “post & lean” style! Got Rudye on tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through fa all tha “bitches,” lol; nothin’ but luv comin’ from this way, Rudye, as you already know what it iz! Some cash to start off tha 2nd verse, here, wit IL Duce on tha verse… Feelin’ tha ‘feelin’-like-a-hotel’-type vibe, Duce; catchiness in tha flow, too! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Nice CD, guys; y’all a great, tri-combo team! Keep up tha great work, as y’all neva stop grindin’!!

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! © 2011 CD Review (Review #871) reviewed on 3.10.2011 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Welcome To The Statement”
>>> Tha volume ain’t that loud, here? Anyway, sounds good and tha beat iz aight… Good “smokin’ on a lotta weed” part; who tha hell are you? How do you do all dat without me hearin’ your music? Tha rest of this shit sounds pretty catchy; really feelin’ tha street shit. My Rating: 4.1

02. “Down Here” Feat. Young Ready
LOL, where’d this collaboration come from? Who are you? >>> I like tha beat start; definitely catchy. Tha content and quality iz pretty nice on tha hook, too; really feelin’ what you be bringin’ to tha table! Even tha collaboration sounds nice; lol @ ‘holdin’’ someone down “doin’ five” outta nowhere! Good shit you got on tha 3rd verse, too… My Rating: 4.5

03. “Same Hustle”
>>> What’s up wit tha weird production? Feelin’ tha beginning lyrics of puttin’ a picture in your head. Tha rhymes are really consistent but I wish this beat was not an East Coast-soundin’ one; tha hook sounds pretty-good… My Rating: 4.0

04. “Hate On Me” Feat. Sabor & Briel
Wonder who these people are…? >>> Anotha semi-weak beat for me and I hear scary background vocals, too. Tha rhymes from you are good; tha hook’s a lil’ scary but at least it’s a female and not a dude. Tha 2nd verse sounds pretty catchy; very consistent wit tha rhymes! Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, either… My Rating: 3.6

05. “I’m The Boy” Feat. Level, Taylor & Lil’ One The Champ
Looks like a pretty-good collab… >>> “T-Motor” beat? Lil’ One’s on tha hook and it sounds pretty good… You’re on tha 1st verse and it sounds pretty good on this beat, too. Ooh, here comes Level on tha 2nd verse; family-related collaborations (between labels and other collaborators)? ROFL, he always raps about tha same shit. “Even tha draws got tha logo;” okay, boxers; that’s a step in a different direction, lol. LOL @ this cockiness… Taylor (Jay?) on tha 3rd verse, soundin’ good… My Rating: 4.3

06. “Tonight” Feat. Tre Virdure
Forgot tha “R” in Tre’s name on tha feature? >>> Not really my style, here, but it’s not tha worst… My Rating: 3.4

07. “Grind Time” Feat. Crucial
No more “Young” in Crucial’s name? What happened to it? Anyway, you know I’m lookin’ forward ta dis! >>> Again, prolly could’ve expected betta wit tha beat but, at least, this collaboration’s gonna anticipate me, still! You doin’ ya thang on dis one and tha hook… Crucial’s on tha 2nd verse and a definite plus fa havin’ him; very consistent wit these tight-ass rhymes and consistent shit he spittin’ ‘bout himself!! :tu LOL, you comin’ through on tha 3rd verse wit some real shit, too. My Rating: 4.2

08. “Girbauds” Feat. Jimi Jump
Definitely a high anticipation level fa dis one!!! >>> Even tha beat start has a hot sound; dun-dun-Gir-bauds <- auds="" bout="" gon="" here="" i="" it="" like="" really="" s="" sound="" spittin="" style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;" tha="" that="" think="" what="" you="">know
I fuckin’ luv “Girbauds” to tha fullest!!! I’m hearin’ tha hook and it sounds different than tha delivery I predicted; real hot shit!!!!! Definitely classic!! Gotta play dis on my radio show and wear “Girbauds”, lol! LOL, let’s hear what Jimi got ta say afta your nice 2nd verse… More on tha ‘smokin’’ tip, lol; he doin’ his thang wit you, here! LOL, even him wit tha “boxers” line about “Polo” too, lol? “Starin’ at my penis;” lots of crazy, random shit comin’ out his mouth wit a joint ‘bout “Girbauds”, lol! My Rating: 4.9

½time: Soundin’ good fa you bein’ unknown ta me! A 4.1-rated CD, currently; keep tha bangers and collaborations comin’ along!!

09. “You Don’t Know” Feat. A-One (Wissel)
>>> Damn @ this beat; and Wissel’s on dis? Dis’ll prolly suck; he’ll prolly spit some stupid, typical-type shit ‘bout girls or some boring shit like dat. :td You sound like someone else on this joint… Damn, I knew it; Wissel sucks wit dis 2nd verse! From tha beginning, nothin’ but boring, typical rhymes about gurls and ‘non-existin’’ shit he’s sayin’ (“textin’”); he doesn’t text like dat, smh! Overall, more distracted and annoyed wit dis; at least you were normal wit dis. Oh yea, no comment on tha boring hook. My Rating: 2.5

10. “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” Feat. Lil’ Mista
Let’s hear dis anticipatin’ joint! >>> Mod Productions doin’ tha beat and it’s soundin’ regular—good enough ta have you and Mista on it. Tha hook sounds catchy; you know what it iz… Some of tha beat sounds like sounds from Bobby Beams “Yesterday”? Nice job wit how you comin’ through on dis track but it’s all about Mista, doin’ tha damn thang, here! My Rating: 4.3

11. “Pocket Full Of Paper” Feat. Hey Daem
“Hey Daem”? Thought his name was just “Daem”? >>> At least your rhymes keep dis a lil’ interestin’; gettin’ tired of some of these decent/below-average beats. Tha hook sounds nice, of course; what more could you ask wit “paper”? Tha rest of dis iz still good… My Rating: 3.8

12. “Product Of The Ghetto”
>>> A lil’ long fa tha start but now dat I hear tha hook, I’m likin’ dis, in a way. Good rhymes you spittin’ on this track… My Rating: 3.8

13. “Pop It For Me”
Just you on dis? >>> Tha production’s a lil’ betta… Tha rhymes are soundin’ a lil’ betta, here, too. Why do people keep thinkin’ everyone ‘pops pills’? :confused Even though I liked it betta for a start, I lost interest outta nowhere… My Rating: 3.8

14. “Time For The Kill”
>>> I think it’s time for a feature; too many of these just-you songs in a row are gettin’ kinda boring… Tha hook sounds more interestin’ wit dis “kill” shit in “time”. My Rating: 3.6

15. “Down Here (Remix)” Feat. Lil’ One The Champ
Finally, a feature, but why a remix to a former Young Ready collab? >>> Still sounds good but I rather hear Young Ready, since One’s aight… My Rating: 4.3

16. “Survivor”
>>> Scary ending; why? Not bad wit tha rappin’ and tha song, overall, ain’t too bad, either. You have a good mind when it comes ta motivation. My Rating: 2.8

Overall: Even though a lot of tha production wasn’t my type, I think I liked this CD, overall, mainly thanx to tha collaborations. I have ta say, to you and F.O.C.U.S. Entertainment, keep doin’ ya thang!

Rankings:

16.       “You Don’t Know” Feat. A-One (Wissel) 2.5
15.       “Survivor” 2.8
14.       “Tonight” Feat. Tre Virdure 3.4
