Review #1,963: DJ Tremon "Hottest In The City 10"

Reviewed on 5.31.2021 (Review #1,963)

Oh boy…; I’m makin’ an effort into gettin’ some more reviewz done. On June 10, 2011, I celebrated my 1,000th review. Now, we’re only 10 dayz away from June 10, 2021, a whole decade later! I only have ta complete 37 more reviewz b4 I reach my 2,000th one. That means, I gotta do about three or four a day, for tha next 10 dayz; how will I do? We’ll find out, especially that I’m tryna find a full-tyme & have to get loaded to go walk a mile for my back. I gon be reviewin’ a bunch of throwback releases from 2000 after this review & we’ll see how I progress. Fa now, as promised from earlier in tha year, here goes my review for DJ Tremon Hottest In The City 10, courtesy of M.O.B. Entertainment! Hottest In The City 10 iz Tremon’s finally installment of tha Hottest In The City series. He’s continuin’ with Trippy Tuesday releases, which I should get to check out. I just dunno when I’ll have tha proper free tyme to get to everything. Either way, S/O to Tremon fa showin’ me luv on tha Trippy Tuesdays series; gotta keep it trippy! Start Time: 6:41 PM | End Time: 7:54 PM

01. Famous “Lucky (Long Live J-Dirty Intro)”
Producer: Big Wayne
Yeah, it was such a tragedy ta lose Dirty seven months ago today. He was an ‘80s baby in his 30’s like us who really put tha city of BR on. Glad he put in lots of work; R.I.P.! >>> Thought that sounded like Mista Cain in tha beginning; nice lil’ “Abadie” flava to hype ‘em up! As far as tha song itself, it sounds nice with this dude’s energy & Big Wayne’s laidback, Baton Rouge street-based production… Hearin’ tha hook & it nice; good intro track, here! Luv tha energy in tha hook but it overshadows tha darker, unlucky side of tha street life. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty dope wit tha consistent rhymin’; props on tha energy! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds good; dope, even tho sometymes, I get distracted from feelin’ like I’m bein’ preached by these lyrics. My Rating: 4.3

02. Draftpik “Hottest In The City”
Full-on Hottest In The City title, here, for tha series! >>> Chick? Didn’t expect a chick wit Draftpik as their name… Sounds like an okay lil’ hook; at least tha beat on some Baton Rouge club-like shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it an okay track; I don’t really fw too many female rappers, so tha ratings don’t usually shine bright wit me. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & I’ont really gotta say anythang. Ironic that she’s right about “put you ta sleep like tha seats heated” ‘cause I feel like it can bore too easily. My Rating: 2.6

03. Dylan Cage “On ‘Em”
>>> Nice intro from Dylan, here; good shit. I have yet ta meet Dylan & shit; I know he know about me. It’s just, I hadn’t had much of an opportunity ta connect wit him. As far as this track goes, thumbs up fa him bein’ “fulla doe-doe” & how he comes through on this Baton Rouge club beat! His voice just okay fa me but he knows how ta make a nice club banga like this, at least; good effort. Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty nice wit tha club energy; keep it up! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & yeah, I’m feelin’ tha jigged-out presence, here! Gots to have a “jigga” in yo life, at some point! Luv how tha vibe reminds me of when I first got inta Louisiana rap music’s undaground, durin’ tha November 27, 2007 review I did for Jimmy The DJ’s Gangsta Gumbo, Vol. 1 mixtape! My Rating: 4.4

04. Breezy Bre “Punch You Down!”
>>> Likin’ this return of tha club-rap style from her, here; good hook & beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & I’m likin’ how she all tha way focused, courtesy of tha “bleezy in [her] hand!” Like I previously said, I don’t immediately jump for joy wit tha female rappers but I’m glad Breezy at least keepin’ tha energy up fa tha 225, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it str8; nothin’ really fa me ta say, in addition ta what I already said, here. My Rating: 3.8

05. No Shoes feat. Geno “Out My Top”
Geno as in Geno Saladin? I wonder, especially since I literally just did a tribute video for my boy, Mr. Saladin… >>> Sounds like a hyped-up intro, here; definitely in tha mood fa it…! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty lit; good shit, y’all! Gotta stay “out [tha] top,” especially on this Baton Rouge production! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & this shoesless dude soundin’ nice; keep tha energy up! Got tha Geno dude on tha 2nd verse & he don’t sound like Mr. Saladin but I know I done heard this Geno in tha past. Good contribution wit Mr. Shoesless No Shoes, here; gotta luv tha club vibe, 100%! My Rating: 4.4

06. Amber Jewelz “Beast Attitude”
>>> New synth of tha YoungBloodZ & Lil’ Jon’s “Damn”, 18 years later? Sounds good fa tha Rouge, here; almost thought it was a dude on tha mic, at first… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; lyrics just a regular-soundin’ mainstream vibe fa me, overall. “Got a flow so hot, tha mic might melt”; good line, right there. Hearin’ tha hook & it str8; I like this title for a chick/club vibe… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & I can agree wit tha “no tattoos; got a fear of tha needle” line. I mean, I ain’t got a “fear” but I tend to leave my body alone. I’d rather peep out peoples’ tattoos & hope they make me feel important. As far as tha rest of tha track, it’s whateva. My Rating: 3.5

07. D Boy “Blow A Bag”
>>> Not really crazy about tha title or tha beginning of tha lyrics, in tha hook. However, this sounds like it’s somethin’ nice, between tha Rougetastic production & Rougetastic D Boy on tha mic… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s consistent; keep bein’ “on that dumb shit”! Likin’ how tha beat decides to change into an eerie vibe, toward tha pre-hook part; good shit. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds cool; likin’ how tha eerie part from tha pre-hook sounds like there’s less vocals. It’s like, a full-on zoned feelin’ for tha eerie beat part! My Rating: 4.0

08. Mack Tony “Bricks”
>>> Sounds like a Louisiana version of Trae Tha Truth? A more Atlanta, typical mainstream-soundin’ beat? I’ono but we’ll see… Hearin’ tha beat mixin’ from 0:26 – 0:28 & it’s pretty dope how it repeats to grab your attention…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; just an okay lil’ street track fa me, here. Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s str8; nothin’ too-too excitin’ about tha vibe, except when tha beat repeats b4 tha hook. My Rating: 3.6

09. Miss Portia feat. Ice Doll “Closet Freak”
>>> Likin’ tha bouncier vibe but not really inta this track, between tha closeted hook & it bein’ a female track, overall. Good collab between Miss Portia & Ice Doll fa tha clubz but mainly for tha ladies. As far as me, I’d rather move on to tha next track… My Rating: 1.7

10. Finea$$ Music “Bounce”
>>> Definitely not diggin’ tha vocals from this female; why a-tuned? Also, tha money content; gtfoh!! “Bounce” vibe & beat wasted, here; tyme ta keep it goin’…! My Rating: 1.0

11. T-Dot feat. Bezo Luciano “Like Dat”
Geez, now a blocked-featured artist?? Tremon, you gotta pick up tha quality!! >>> Sounds like a hyped-up beat for this decent-soundin’ Dot dude. Kinda sounds like if Jimi Jump was back in his teens/early 20’s? Decent, includin’ tha hook; too bad I only was able to listen to 0:53 of it, due to bein’ blocked by tha guest feature! Also, as of this March 14, I’m even more disgusted in tha feature for blockin’ me a whole year to tha day of when my uncle suddenly passed! It’s like, absolutely NO recovery from that moment!! *Stops at 0:53* My Rating: 3.8

12. Tha G.T. “How I’m Livin’”
>>> Glad to hear G.T. back & that he stayin’ motivated, like a true ‘80s baby in their 30’s should. I’ve neva really been tha craziest about his beat choices but I’ll let this “C.R.E.A.M.”-inspired production in, on my interest… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it cool; I dig how he comin’ through fa you, here, Tremon. Hearin’ tha hook & it cool; I’m really feelin’ all tha energy in those sirens & “how [G.T.] livin’,” in 2K21! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it cool; consistent rhymes, so I’ll give him props fa dat. My Rating: 4.1

13. Pubmos “Daf”
I’m expectin’ anotha random female, here… >>> Sounds like an okay track; now, we’re on a hyphy, West Coast-styled production? Sounds like an okay White dude, if so? Just figurin’ out who they can be, based off of this 1st listen; not bad but I’ono if it’s a full-on Hottest In The City club vibe… Figured that tha title stood for “Dope As Fuck,” here; that’s what it do. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like dry energy wit tha delivery. Just seems like a lil’ bit of reading-like, with tha flow’s sound; a lil’ bit of energy applied toward tha end of tha verse, at least… My Rating: 3.4

½tyme: A few misses, as well as decent & good tracks; seems like a banana split of likings & dislikings? A 3.4-rated release, so far; let’s see if we can pick back up…!

14. Bo$$mane Dre “Trap Never Closed”
>>> I wanna say that it’s cool when I hear tha hook but it sounds like a typical-soundin’ rap song & perspective of today’s world. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it okay; like, what exactly iz ‘posed to spark my liking to lovin’, here? Don’t really hear nothin’; it’s just an always-open “trap,” basically. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it just sounds like blah, blah, blah; nothin’ ta say… Am I hearin’ “2010 ain’t stoppin’ nothin’”? Like, ’10? My Rating: 3.1

15. Chevy Jade “Opinions”
>>> Why does some rhyme/preach-like rappin’ like this need to have a-tune ruin it? Like, what’s wrong wit these peoples’ point of views? It affects my “Opinions” tremendously! Just a typical-soundin’ trap beat wit a-tune in tha way… Tha 2nd verse iz here & I just shut it off at 1:24; no more voice bullshit! *Stops at 1:24* My Rating: 1.0

16. GeeMoney Pimpin’ “I’m On It”
Producer: Austin On Tha Track
>>> Four years after tha killin’ of Austin, here he posthumously comes with this track fa his Off Tha Meter patna, GeeMoney Pimpin’. Hearin’ tha hook & it aight; why tha title part had ta have a-tune ruin it? Ugh! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & I’ono, I thought I woulda liked Gee & Austin’s combination betta. If tha production was more on a Baton Rouge tip than soundin’ like your everyday trap-rap shit, it woulda been betta & less borin’ fa me. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like a hidden feature? I’ono; I guess it’s an okay contribution. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it’s anotha hidden feature? Don’t really know but their rhymes are betta than tha 2nd verse’s. Still, a lil’ long fa this mixtape? How did this go on three verses & just kept goin’? My Rating: 2.8

17. OCG Peso feat. OCG Sheppard “Bottle After Bottle”
>>> Sounds like an okay production wit tha “Give Me That” sample in tha background, at tymes… Hearin’ tha hook & it cool; can’t deny when tha OCG gang comes through… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it cool ta hear, as well; keep tha club vibes up, err-body! My Rating: 4.2

18. Johnny Hu$tle feat. OMG JT “Steppin’ Like”
Producer: Playa Pizzle
Oh boy; this got lucky to shine on tha final Hottest In The City! Seen it ID’d in so many various wayz:
  • JT OMG x Johnny Hustle
  • JT OMG x Johnny Hu$tle
  • JT OMG feat. Johnny Hustle
  • JT OMG feat. Johnny Hu$tle
  • OMG JT x Johnny Hustle
  • OMG JT x Johnny Hu$tle
  • OMG JT feat. Johnny Hustle
  • OMG JT feat. Johnny Hu$tle
  • Johnny Hu$tle x JT OMG
  • Johnny Hu$tle x OMG JT
  • Johnny Hu$tle feat. JT OMG
  • Johnny Hu$tle feat. OMG JT
  • Johnny Hustle x JT OMG
  • Johnny Hustle x OMG JT
  • Johnny Hustle feat. OMG JT
  • Johnny Hustle feat. JT OMG

My personal choice was OMG JT x Johnny Hu$tle, to define that they both collaborated on tha hook. However, after watchin’ Hu$tle interview JT on “Friday Night Flows”, I found out that JT reached out to Hu$tle. So, now, I understand tha Johnny Hu$tle feat. OMG JT; I always thought it was all tha way OMG Da Label & not all tha way Hustlemania, here. Needless to say, this a dope collab, of course; luv how Hu$tle & JT combine their vibes on tha hook, here! Hope I can party wit them, one day—still waitin’ on a Hu$tle party! Anything Hu$tle a part of iz a straight-up addiction or potential one, I feel like! Luv how he brought a lot outta JT, here; hope for tha best wit tha OMG fam! Also, Hu$tle consistent as shit wit tha lines, in his verse; his “bruh-bruhs,” lol! Also, tha “-ank”-endin’ lines; that’s Hu$tle for ya! Will he be worth $1,001.83 for a feature, one day? We’ll have ta see…! My Current Rating: 4.9

19. HBO 2 Of ‘Em “Time Today”
Strange stage name for HBO… >>> Sounds like an anticipatin’ beat to kick thangz off, here; how will tha HBO dude do…? Sounds like a good dose of energy on tha hook, here; definitely nice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it cool; gotta have tha energy in you! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it pretty hype; gotta hold it down fa tha 2-2-5! My Rating: 4.2

20. No Shoes “Limelight”
>>> Cool Baton Rouge-soundin’ production fa tha streetz & clubz, here; I digz it. Hearin’ tha verse & it aight; just seems like a quick lil’ 96 seconds, overall? Just a bunch of rappin’ ta hold it down, it seems like… My Rating: 3.8

21. Queen Leelo “Juggathon”
>>> Thought by seein’ tha “Jugg” in tha title that it was gon be more on tha jiggin’ tip. Too bad I mistook tha “U” vowel as if it was an “I”, smh. Not really feelin’ how this chick’s comin’ through on this; just sounds like a mainstream track wit this beat. Like, who else ain’t “chasin’ dat bag”? Tha worst topic because I neva see it come my way! Can’t even register tha rest of this as any form of interest in me; that’s just my opinion, tho. My Rating: 1.1

22. Slim Simaa “Before Our Eyes Close”
>>> Thought it woulda been a dude but it’s faster-soundin’ R&B…, with tha a-tune fuckin’ shit up, too, smh. I just can’t take these vocals serious; when will tha world eliminate tha shitty-ass a-tune? No wonder why I keep plenty of my good clothes & vibes from 2008! If people can keep stupid a-tune, why not me keep all my ’08 shit? That’s just me, of course…! Tha 2nd verse of this almost sounds like as if this chick woulda been a guest on a Down Bad track wit Jack Da Rippa or somethin’. Sounds like similar flowin’ of tha singin’ but it’s still shitty fa me, overall. My Rating: 1.8

23. Miss Portia feat. Cupid “For My Ladies”
>>> It’s been 14 years since “Cupid Shuffle” & still, Cupid runs wit that “new Cupid!” shit… With that bein’ said, as far as this track, tha singin’ sounds more serious than tha humorous previous track on here. It’s not for me, overall; not inta this R&B-type shit of today, as it seemed to be left off in tha 2000’s, somewhere. Hearin’ tha hook & it ain’t too-too bad from Mr. “(New) Cupid”, here… Of course, he had ta throw in tha “got good money” shit, like 2021 R&B really needs tha rapper perspectives, too? Also, Cupid on tha 2nd verse & it’s serious for an R&B tip. Still, how did this get lucky ta be 3:50 long? I hate soundin’ uninterested but I gotta keep it real fa my 32-years-11-months-and-10-dayz-old-ass. My Rating: 1.1

24. Tchi feat. Duke “Last Night”
>>> This chick starts off nice with her fuckin’, in tha beginning of tha 1st verse. However, way too slow & sappy ta nearly end this mixtape off. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & there’s nothin’ of interest fa me, here; just anotha R&B-B vibe that got lost up in this mixtape. Hearin’ tha Duke dude on tha 2nd verse & I’m likin’ his Baton Rouge-soundin’ voice fa tha rappin’, here. Not tha most excitin’-type of lyrics but I would like ta see how he comes through wit some Baton Rouge-soundin’ rap jointz, one day… My Rating: 1.5

25. OMGJaycee “All Good”
>>> Thought it woulda been really hype wit tha OMG representa, here; just seems okay wit tha hook & beat, so far… Hearin’ dude’s voice & tha vibe, here, soundin’ like tha late Twelve A’Klok ta me… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; basically, it just sounds like plain-ole rappin’, overall. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s boring; nothin’ poppin’ ‘bout these rhymes. Like, tha last part of tha 2nd verse dealt with loneliness? Sounds like me but I keep myself as productive as can be; avoid tha sadness, if so! My Rating: 3.3

26. Defboi Matrix “Doin’ My Shit”
>>> Beat aight & tha hook sounds good; sounds like a non-Baton Rouge native, based off how they sound? It ain’t too-too bad, overall, as tha 1st verse sounds like flashin’ success? Guess that’s tha “recipe”? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s whateva; I seem ta get bored wit these tracks easily, just based off how tha 2nd verses seem like blah-blah-blah, when there’s no feature… My Rating: 3.2

27. Yotsai “Girlfriend”
>>> Sounds like it can be its own club anthem, if treated right? Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds like tha vocals/beat combo’s too loud, as far as tha masterin’ goes? That’s just me but it’s a pretty energetic anthem, here… Lots of “dick” bein’ offered on tha end of tha hook; at least it’s a chant to catch attention… Feelin’ tha “throw it back” chant on tha 1st verse, as well; keep it goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s good fa just four barz, like tha 1st verse; a quick way to catch tha attention. Overall, I’m glad there’s energy ta end this off but it’s just an okay type of energy fa me. My Rating: 3.0

Overall: Didn’t seem like it was somethin’ special to review but I reviewed it ta show luv—my luv, that iz. Lots of female vibes ta break up tha continuous club vibes I’m used to, when it comes to tha Hottest In The City series. Also, tha a-tuned garbage got in tha way too many tymes. Not too many highlights on this edition but we’ll see how tha Trippy Tuesdays series turns out, wheneva I decide on reviewin’ those.

Review #1,757: Austin On Tha Track & Gee Money Pimpin' "Press Play"

Reviewed on 9.19.2017 (Review #1,757)

Keepin’ these reviewz goin’, I got one from this year: Austin On Tha Track & Gee Money Pimpin’, from tha Meter Gang (formerly known as Off Tha Meter), Press Play, courtesy of Meter Gang… Start Time: 6:27 PM | End Time: 7:09 PM

© 2017 CD Review (Review #1,757) reviewed on 9.19.2017 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. “Press Play”
>>> Sounds like a nice beat start from Austin, here… Hope it ain’t gon be on that wack shit like tha previous CD I just reviewed… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like fast-ass rappin’… I’ono, coulda been slower? Ain’t thank you was fast like this, Austin… Likin’ tha “on lean, on lean, on lean” part; 24 more dayz!! My Rating: 3.6

02. “Run It 2” feat. Hot Boi Nook & Shon Thang
>>> Likin’ tha beat start; sounds unique in tha beginning, especially that tha sound’s quietly in tha background… Tha hook simple but nice ova this beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice ta hear, here… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here, as it flows wit tha track ta proceed with itself… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it ain’t bad, as well; I can dig it in some wayz… And, tha 4th verse ain’t bad; y’all vibin’ in a nice way, of course… My Rating: 3.8

03. “Better Than You” feat. Blammer.Santana
>>> Fuck this auto-tune bullshit; no comment! My Rating: 1.0

04. “Countin’” feat. Hot Boi Nook & Blammer.Santana
>>> Sounds a lil’ catchy but I’mma pretend it’s a guilty pleasure of bein’ gay, here, wit this money shit, on tha hook… Tha beat ain’t too bad; borderline Louisiana, borderline mainstream… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds catchy wit tha Rouge livin’, here… I’ono about tha 2nd verse, here; not inta tha “money long” bullshit and all dat… Neva do I see any “long money” headed my way, smh! I’ono, Austin, but tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ betta… My Rating: 2.8

05. “Stuntman” feat. Shon Thang & Hot Boi Nook
>>> Sounds like a catchy hook but then, tha “money” shit comes into play and I just call it a “guilty pleasure.” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice wit headin’ “to tha sto;” I like those times in tha Rouge… Sounds like a lot goin’ on durin’ tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse? Holy shit… I’ono, but my reaction sounds all mixed… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, here… Gotta luv “Silverleaf,” too; shout out ta Sundown! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice, too… My Rating: 3.4

06. “187”
>>> Lemme just skip this auto-tuned bullshit… My Rating: 1.1

07. “Racked Up”
>>> Almost thought it was tha same track as tha previous one, fa a second… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it decent wit this betta-than-usual beat, here… And, Gee Money on tha 2nd verse (Pimpin’, dat iz), soundin’ decent; not-too-bad track, overall… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Drummin’” feat. Drumm Gang
>>> Sounds like a nice beat from Austin, here… A good-soundin’ hook, minus tha “money” bullshit… I’ono, I ain’t really got much ta say about this… Just sounds like a mainstream rap song, here… Tha rest of this iz ehh; no need for a comment… My Rating: 3.1

½time: A 2.8-rated CD, so far… A lil’ betta than tha previous CD, but no bangerz, at tha moment…

09. “Designer” feat. Hot Boi Nook & Shon Thang
>>> Not likin’ tha background vocals in tha beginning, so far… Almost thought I was gon skip it ‘cause it sounds gay… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… Tha beat kinda ehh but not too bad… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s bleh; repetitive and nothin’ special for me, here… Tha 2nd verse ain’t anythang fa me; not feelin’ these rhymes… My Rating: 2.2

10. “Swishincash”
>>> Kinda gives me tha same vibe as tha previous track… Hearin’ tha beginning and it’s ehh… Nothin’ really poppin’ wit this one but it ain’t too bad… My Rating: 2.7

11. “Like Percy”
…Keith? >>> Sounds like random rhymes on tha 1st verse… Oh, “No Limit like Percy,” as far as Miller (Master P). Would I have bet that it was “Percy” Keith? Yeah, but I know I woulda lost ‘cause tha underrated neva win, smh! Decent lil’ track but nothin’ ta really say… My Rating: 3.2

12. “Bigpunpimpin’”
>>> Sounds like a nice beat, here; I can dig it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… Kinda diggin’ this hook, even tho it gives me a mainstream feel… And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ like a decent verse, too… My Rating: 3.7

13. “Ghost” feat. Truu, Hot Boi Nook & Shon Thang
>>> Back to tha full-on mainstream sound, here… Wanna say it’s catchy, but not for a Louisiana song; not at all! Decent lil’ hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad; can’t really say much… Tha 2nd verse ain’t bad, here; just lettin’ this play through without sayin’ much… Tha 3rd verse ehh; don’t have anythang ta say… My Rating: 2.3

14. “Bootup” feat. Da Real Gee Money & Scotty Corleone
>>> A nice, upbeat vibe, here, but I ain’t fuckin’ wit this a-tuned 1st verse… I like tha flow and tha intensity, but too bad tha gay voice had ta fuck it up! Hearin’ tha hook and it simple; nothin’ much goin’ on wit it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s ehh… Got Gee Money (Da Real Gee Money) on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, at least; see what talent brings? Gotta feel what he bringin’ with a NORMAL voice! And, Mr. Cain (Scotty) on tha 4th verse, comin’ through wit some nice shit ova this beat, too! A mixed review fa me, overall, due to tha shitty-ass auto-tune! Prolly woulda been a 4.5 if there was none of dat! My Rating: 2.6

15. “Favor”
>>> Beat kinda sounds like it has a ‘90s vibe to it, mixed with tha current sounds of today… Almost thought it was gon be a lil’ decent but I’m not diggin’ tha voice on tha hook… Like, literally, I’ono what it iz with today’s music but I can barely put tha voices with tha faces, these dayz, smh… My Rating: 2.0

16. “Playa Ways”
>>> Not diggin’ tha voice in tha beginning, here… Hearin’ tha hook and, once again, it has a ‘90s vibe to it, mixed with today’s sounds… Still, y’all can do betta wit tha voices, at times… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice wit all these valuable items… Ick at referencin’ “Swag Surfin’”; eight years later, here we are! Much-betta reference with “25 Lighters”, at least! My Rating: 2.5

Overall: No 4.0’s, smh… Nothin’ too on-n-poppin’ wit this CD, here… Y’all gotta go back to tha old, Baton Rouge sound, not this mainstream-soundin’ shit. Other than that, keep grindin’…

Review #1,756: Off Tha Meter "Chapter 1: Only The Beginning"

Reviewed on 9.19.2017 (Review #1,756)

I was doin’ okay with tha reviewz, recently ‘til Baton Rouge producer/rapper, Austin On Tha Track, was murdered, last month. It threw my consistency off a lil’ bit and then, Da Real Gee Money got killed a month later… Finally, I think I got this, again… This and tha next two CD reviewz gon be related to those two deaths… This first one’s from two years ago and iz Off Tha Meter, or sometimes Meter Gang, Chapter 1: Only The Beginning, released on Meter Gang & Crook Muzik Music Group. Tha 2015 version of Off Tha Meter was Shon Thang, CJ Santana, DJae, Austin Rashaad, Gee Money Pimpin’ & Hot Boi Nook… Start Time: 5:40 PM | End Time: 6:10 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “TakeOva (Intro)”
>>> Likin’ tha “slime ball” noun for homie, here… In 2015, I ain’t know none of dat “slime” shit till last year, with A1 Wissel sayin’ it. That was tha 1st time I done heard it… Good intro but as far as tha beginning voice, I’ont think I gon tolerate this voice effect shit… Not diggin’ tha hook wit this “we don’t fuck around wit you broke guys” shit; not a money person, here… Sounds betta wit tha 1st verse but I gon scroll through this… Tha 2nd verse listenable, at least; can’t complain here… My Rating: 2.1

02. “I’on Trust Y’all”
>>> Austin On Tha Track track, here… How about, “And, I’on really fuck wit [this auto-tune]?” A lil’ fast-rapped 1st verse, here? Same thang wit tha 2nd verse… My Rating: 1.1

03. “I’m Da Man”
>>> I’ono, just a basic hook and beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and this too boring fa me; same rhymes from every rapper these dayz, smh… Tha 2nd verse don’t got no interest fa me, neither… My Rating: 1.3

04. “Pull Up”
>>> Not too inta this basic beat and tha hook sounds like a random, cheesy, hyped-up track… My Rating: 1.8

05. “Romantic Love”
>>> I’ono…, not really for me, here… Tha hook may sound catchy fa othaz but a Louisiana “love” track? Naw… My Rating: 1.5

06. “Real Niggas Only”
>>> I ain’t toleratin’ this slow, long, auto-tuned shit… My Rating: 1.0

07. “Over Wit”
>>> Just… boring… Smh @ tha final verse wit auto-tune! My Rating: 1.2

½time: Expected a lot betta, especially since I knew Garin (Gee Money Pimpin’) & Austin On Tha Track since 2010… Y’all were so much betta wit “Ootin’ N You Bootin’” and all dem Baton Rouge-soundin’ songs. It’s a shame how err-thang have ta sound like mainstream-soundin’ bullshit music… A 1.4-rated CD so far; really?

08. “‘Bout Dat Life” feat. Max Minelli & Lee Banks
>>> Austin track… Luckily, some effort on tha 1st verse, here, but tha auto-tune kills it on tha hook, smh; always somethin’! Shame that we’re a fuckin’ decade inta that auto-tune shit, now, and it’s still goin’?! Why?!? Only liked it for a YEAR! It’s 10, now!! Ahhhhhhhhh! Good job from Max on tha 2nd verse; at least he neva wack! Same thang wit Lee Banks! You needed a rating boost so y’all recruited them fa tha track? Good pickin’ but neva should be ova cheatin’ tha ratings! My Rating: 2.3

09. “Hol’Up”
>>> Sounds a lil’ boring wit tha hook and how y’all comin’ through wit this… Honestly, it sounds like a dried-down version of y’all tracks from ’09, ’10… A lil’ bit of a better effort on tha 1st verse wit tha “purp” and shit, at least… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, neither, surprisingly… My Rating: 2.5

10. “The Smoke Out” feat. LRG & Ronnie Rap Game
>>> Boring, dry beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… Tha hook ehh… Sounds like Ty Dolla $ign, at times? Kinda icky, not sticky, lol… Tha 2nd verse ain’t bad, as well… Can’t really say much, here… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds like a lil’ bit of a catchier flow, luckily… My Rating: 2.6

11. “Pound Game Tuff” feat. Lee Banks
>>> Finally, somethin’ above-average, here! Diggin’ tha upbeat beat and tha hook pretty “tuff,” here; diggin’ it! Hearin’ tha 1st verse wit Lee Banks and it’s pretty nice; great collab, too! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit y’all on tha 3rd verse and it’s nice, too, as y’all keepin’ it movin’… A 4th verse, here? Only 3:25 on tha length but squeezin’ err-thang, here… Sounds like anotha good-soundin’ verse from tha Rouge… Nice job, Austin… My Rating: 4.2

12. “Kill It” feat. Scotty Cain
>>> Sounds like a good beat, once again, Austin. This what I wanted this CD to sound like, not tha dry, boring, mainstream, typical, brainwashed-soundin’ shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; I’ll stay listenin’, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it soundin’ nice, too; glad there’s no wack shit, here… Tha rest of this nice ta hear, too… Also, this anotha nice collab, too; can’t complain… My Rating: 4.0

13. “Run It” feat. Spitta, Scotty Cain, Max Minelli, Deezy Cain & Ree-Up
>>> Kickin’ it off wit Spitta on tha 1st verse, here, wit an anticipatin’ beat start! See, this what y’all CD ‘pose ta sound like!! Funny how some of tha sounds every two bars sounds like B-Real’s production on “I Be Workin’” from Lil’ Cali, OJ Da Juiceman & B-Real, himself, from 2010… To me, it sounds like a sound jack but it’s still a nice lil’ track, here… Good shit from Scotty, too, holdin’ this shit down… And, of course, gotta hold it down wit Max on tha 3rd verse, too! Consistent-soundin’ 4th verse, here; definitely feelin’ tha “streetz” vibe, Deezy! And, tha 5th verse iz here and it’s soundin’ good fa da gangstaz, too… A 6th verse, here, soundin’ pretty consistent from y’all, this time; can’t complain… Tha “OTM” vibe continues wit tha 7th verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, too… An 8th verse, here, soundin’ good, too… A 9th verse, here, endin’ it wit Ree-Up, always soundin’ good, too; great job, err-body! Austin endin’ it off wit a 10th verse, here, doin’ tha damn thang, too… Nice job endin’ this, too; instant start, instant ending! My Rating: 4.3

14. “Meter Gang (The Anthem)”
>>> Endin’ with a shitty one? C’mon! We was just finally gettin’ some good ratings… Back to typical-soundin’ beats and shitty-soundin’ vocals… Remember how I used to always think auto-tune sounded like masturbatin’ in anotha dude’s ear? Yeah, I don’t think I’m changin’ my predictions! Basically, this just sounds like an outro… Ick, a fade-out… My Rating: 1.0

Overall: Ain’t really fuck wit this CD… Way too much a-tune & tha beats weren’t all that. When I review Louisiana music, I expect Louisiana music, not sell-out music for tha mainstream…
