R.I.P. Video #74: FYNIC Looney
Recorded September 14, 2020
Broadcasting from tha trenches, here in Baton Rouge, LA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community.
Freddie Thomas, known by his stage name, FYNIC Looney, was murdered around 11:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2020, off tha 5700 block of Henderson Avenue; he was only 27 years-old. Thomas was trappin' with "large quantities of marijuana" inside a house, where he was shot multiple times at 5724 Henderson Avenue. Once officers arrived at tha scene, Thomas was already pronounced dead. Currently, there are no motives or suspects found in this case.
Thomas was born on June 20, 1993, in Baton Rouge, LA. He began rappin' durin' tha 2010's amongst tha Baton Rouge clicks, Forever Young Niggaz In Charge (FYNIC) & tha Dirty Dinero Band Camp. One of Thomas' first appearances on a release was tha late Baton Rouge rapper, King Joe & his King Almighty mixtape, released on March 5, 2017 & hosted by Baton Rouge DJ, DJ Scrap. Tha following month, on April 8, 2017, Joe was murdered, at just 23 years-old. Thomas began payin' his respects to Joe as often as possible. In 2018, Thomas released his 1st release, Looney Tunes, Vol. 1 & followed it up in 2019 with tha sequel, Looney Tunes, Vol. 2. With tha release of multiple videos throughout tha years, as well as just bein' featured two dayz before his death in an upcoming music video of Baton Rouge's Kmac, Thomas kept tha undaground streetz of BR goin' until Sunday, September 13, 2020, where he was murdered on Henderson Avenue. Earlier, on June 20th, Thomas celebrated his 27th birthday & iz now reconnected with his long-lost friend, King Joe.

his brand-new release, Platinum Status, entirely produced
by Ken, himself! I have to say, I’m diggin’ tha front cover; reminds me of tha

TY feat. Hot Boy Turk “‘Bout Whatever”
>>>
This has more of a Cash Money feel to it and I’m likin’ it a lil’ betta than
tha Lil’ Soulja Slim track… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from TY and it’s
pretty nice; definitely feelin’ this vibe… Hearin’ tha hook and yeah, just
luvin’ tha Cash Money vibe, once again! It’s almost as if Cash Money was an
undaground secret, again, str8 from tha Internet! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Turk on
tha 2nd verse, doin’ his thang, too; can’t deny it! My Rating: 4.3

>>> I like that intro from you, Ken… Hearin’ tha beat and it sounds pretty dope, so far; can’t wait ta hear…! Tha hook’s pretty tight, here, wit how dude reppin’ fa all these hoodz and shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like dude holdin’ shit down; for tha streetz! Sounds like a different dude on tha 2nd verse, here? Two different voices? Either way, pure Baton Rouge, undaground music at its finest, here…! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds more like dude on tha 1st verse, here… Needless to say, it sounds nice, of course… My Rating: 4.4

Lookin’
forward to hearin’ you as tha main artist! Also, my next Louisiana trip, I gotta try and link up
witchu, this time! >>> I already really like tha start wit tha beat,
here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds less pure than tha beat intro but still
sounds like a nice lil’ track fa tha undaground… Hearin’ tha 1st
verse from Pat-Pat and it sounds off-beat, smh… Aight but damn, tha
disappointments are gettin’ in tha way from a great intro… Talkin’ toward tha
end, here… I’ono, I ain’t hear much Ken? I’ono, but this ain’t really go down
like I wanted it to… My Rating: 3.2

from tha gravez… >>> Sounds like a catchy lil’ hook from Ready, as
well as tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I recognize tha dude on
tha 1st verse’s voice but I can’t think of who it iz… Sounds like a
decent lil’ verse; kinda cocky and tha “money” shit’s startin’ ta make me feel
like, bleh… Hearin’ Ready on tha 2nd verse and it sounds good, here…

I’ono
about tha mainstream collaboration… >>> I’m likin’ how this sounds;
great beat & hyped-up hook! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds
pretty upbeat; good shit! Dat
Baton Rouge street shit’s on tha 2nd
verse, here, strictly holdin’ it down! Definitely feelin’ all dat aggression!
And, tha 3rd verse sounds a lil’ too fast wit tha rappin’? Runnin’
circles through my head? My Rating: 4.3
15.
$hop With Ken feat. JB & King Joe “Rocket”
Now, there’s King Joe on tha
feature… >>> Nice lil’ hook, here, strictly bein’ hit wit da “rocket!”
Hearin’ tha 1st verse and there’s a lotta energy in this verse,
right chea! Good shit from tha JB dude, here, strictly holdin’ it down! I like
how he plays with Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up”’s “yeah” shit… And, we got King
Joe comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, here, consistently doin’ tha
damn thang on tha track! Definitely a dope collaboration, here; top-rated,
surprisingly? My Rating: 4.5
16.
$hop With Ken feat. VC & CLUB “Head Bust”
Ending
with… >>> Nice lil’ upbeat beat ta jam to, but to also sound nice fa
tha streetz… Feelin’ tha hook, here, strictly bustin’ dem headz!
Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice from this VC dude…
Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha dude on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ a
lil’ more street wit this voice, right chea… Definitely feelin’ how it’s
upbeat, here… Soundin’ pretty consistent at 1:56, here! Lots of “eye”-soundin’
rhymes, here! Reminds me of tha ‘90s baby version of Percy Keith? We shall see
what kinda future he gon have! And, tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ nice ta
hear, here, with its street content… My
Rating: 4.2
Overall: Sounds like a CD that gon
feed tha streetz of BR fa a minute… Shout out to tha newbies I barely/neva

Definitely one of tha best on tha beats, these dayz!

‘cause of how dude got killed, right when I got back from my vacation.
Sponsored by Dirty Dinero Band Camp, here goes my review for King Joe King Almighty (Hosted by DJ Scrap)! This my tribute video fa

“Open Dope”
>>>
Nice intro from Scrap, here; glad there was a connection… Beat kinda reminds me
of YB & Tazz’s “Broski’s” with that sound that comes every four bars…
However, this beat kinda plain… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s ehh…
I’ono how much I can feel this… Just sounds like typical, mainstream-soundin’
shit ta me… Only thang that has, like, a Louisiana
vibe fa me iz your voice… Tha hook ain’t bad; let’s continue… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it sounds a lil’ betta wit how you consistently deliver it. Still,
nothin’ too special, here… My Rating: 3.4
02.
“Good Die Young” feat. Looney & Nino
>>>
I’ono, but Scrap on this intro sounds like this was made after you died.
However, this was released on March 5… I have to say, this beat’s a lil’ betta
than tha previous one… I’m feelin’ tha way tha sounds go, especially that
whistle… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds nice… I’m not a fan of depressing songs
but this hook’s nice wit how y’all dealin’ wit shit… Hearin’ tha 1st
verse and it ain’t that bad; good job wit this… Tha 2nd verse sounds
like tha same dude who’s on tha hook, here… A decent job wit contributin’,
holdin’ it down… And, tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, here; gangsta
shit, here… My Rating: 3.7
03.
“Nobody” feat. Looney & YB
YB!! >>> Sounds like jacked-beat shit? Tha hook can be catchy but I’ono how much I can seriously fuck wit it… If I think of it soundin’ like a jacked beat (can’t think of it, at tha moment—Future song?), then just consider that it sounds like tha same shit that’s out on tha radio, these dayz… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I ain’t feelin’ tha voice; no need for an effect! Lack of interest, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit YB on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ much betta/much-more normal! Gotta luv all tha consistent rhymes! “My heart iz Sub Zero ‘cause it’s below zero;” good shit! See, if this whole entire CD had verses like YB’s verse on this, it would sound much betta! I wouldn’t mind him, no matter what tha tracks sounded like! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it don’t hold tha same weight as YB… Just reminds me that YB on this CD iz equivalent to how I hold my job down like no other! Almost thought my rating was gon be near tha 2.0’s, but YB saved tha vibe… Also, I remember that “back then, I was a nobody,” too! My Rating: 3.8

04.
“Problems” feat. Vis
>>>
A decent start but I yawn in my head when I hear nothin’ but “money” this,
“money” that. Like, example: YB ‘bout his money, but his incredible verse on
tha last song ain’t have “money, money, money” this; “money, money, money”
that! With that bein’ said, tha 1st verse’s ehh/not bad… Hearin’ tha
hook and it’s nice. I’ono why, but your voice on here sometimes reminds me of A
Boogie Wit Da Hoodie… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s ehh, as well;
can’t cling on too well… My Rating: 3.5
05.
“Fuck Nigga” feat. Lee Banks
>>>
Wow, this sounds like YB music, here, on tha hook/beat/vibe! Definitely much
betta than tha shit on this CD, so far! Let’s see how tha verses go… Okay, much betta from you on tha 1st
verse, here! You got tha YB flow goin’ on, here, without bullshit “money”
obsessions! Luv all tha consistency, here! Luved when I seen YB & Razy Ray
perform at tha Hookah Lounge, last month. I heard tha consistency come out in
tha rhymes, especially in Razy Ray’s appearance; shit was dope! Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it’s pretty nice, here; good shit from Lee Banks! Nice collab, here;
this was your golden collab! My Rating: 4.2
06.
“Fan2X” feat. NuNu James
>>>
“NuNu got tha beat…” Beat straight, I guess? Hearin’ tha 1st verse
from NuNu and it sounds betta than usual… I’m glad it ain’t borin’ me even tho
it only aight… Tha hook catchy, but decent at its finest… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it’s not so bad, as well; good shit, y’all… My Rating: 3.6
½time: Mostly decent, here, but
I’m feelin’ tha collaborations more than anythang… A 3.7-rated CD, currently…
07.
“Blitz” feat. Nino & NBA Lil’ Pap
>>>
Sounds decent wit this beat and hook… Likin’ tha title part and how it repeats,
here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like ‘90s babies gangsta
shit, here… Here comes tha 2nd verse, soundin’ decent, here, from
Nino… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it sounds good from this NBA dude… I
think he gon have a good future; nice 1st contribution… My Rating: 3.8
08.
“Get The Bitness” feat. Willie & Nino
>>> Sounds like a decent beat and 1st verse goin’ on, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse and it’s ehh… Nothin’ too special, here; just a contribution from Nino… My Rating: 3.5

“Headshot” feat. NuNu James
>>>
Not anticipatin’ tha intro wit tha “R&B shit,” here… Yeah, you can keep
this, Scrap. Can’t say it’s awful but I don’t think it’s tha best vibe, here…
Tha hook ain’t too bad, here… Oh, rappin’ on tha 1st verse? Really
throwin’ me off, this time… Kinda yada-yada-yada… Tha rest of this goes with
tha track’s vibe, itself; can’t say too much… My Rating: 3.1
10.
“My Own” feat. J Beezy
>>> Beat’s plain but tha hook sounds nice from J Beezy, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha beginning reminds me of a familiar rap song’s flow… Hearin’ tha rest of tha verse and it’s decent… I’ono, nothin’ too strikin’ wit tha rhymes but tha vibe’s nice… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ decent, too; can’t complain… My Rating: 3.4

“Laid Back” feat. Dice
>>>
This sounds like a betta beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you
sound good wit how you comin’ through wit some of these rhymes from tha
southern hood… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice! “Sippin’ lean, smokin’ kush;”
nice! Why it ain’t look like too many peeps were “sippin’ lean,” while I was in
BR? I ain’t see any “lean” down there… And, tha 2nd verse ain’t too
bad, here; nice collab… My Rating: 3.7
12.
“Sales” feat. J Beezy & Looney
>>>
We have a $hop With Ken beat, finally? Let’s see what’s good, here… Beat kinda
plain, tho, but let’s see how this vibe goes… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds
like you have tha life of tha Baton
Rouge streetz, here, fa a ‘90s baby; nice… Consistent
rappin’ on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse
and it sounds good, but in its own way… At times, it may not be too special for
me to appreciate but it’s still nice wit how it was delivered… My Rating: 3.6
13.
“Trap Star” feat. Looney
>>>
This ain’t too bad ta end it off… Beat ain’t too bad and tha 1st
verse sounds like you’re continuously on ya grind, as always… And, tha 2nd
verse’s pretty consistent, here; likin’ it betta than tha 1st! My Rating: 3.7
Overall: Most of this was decent;
only one track a 4.0+! Definitely needed betta-soundin’ beats than tha
typical-soundin’ shit that be out, these dayz… Some of tha content was ehh but
hey, this was a start that was ‘pose to continue into somethin’… R.I.P. King
Joe…

R.I.P. Video #54: King Joe
Broadcasting from my basement in Northeast PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community...
Lenard Nicholas, known in tha rap game as King Joe, was shot and killed earlier on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Baton Rouge, LA. Nicholas was a part of Baton Rouge, LA producer, $hop With Ken's F.Y.N.I.C. click (Forever Young Entertainment) & also, tha Dirty Dinero Band Camp. F.Y.N.I.C. released their debut CD, Forever Young Vol. 1, in 2014 on Forever Young Entertainment. Nicholas was featured on Baton Rouge, LA rapper, YB's Don't Die Wondering CD in 2017 & released his debut/only CD, King Almighty (Hosted by DJ Scrap), on March 5, 2017 with tha Dirty Dinero Gang. On April 4, Nicholas was on tha 400 block of Elmer Ave. at around 12:30 PM when a shooting broke out. According to documents, Nicholas' baby mama got into a fight with her brother, 19-year-old Willie Wilson III. Once they got into a second fight, Wilson got a handgun and began to shoot Nicholas. Once tha shooting was done, Wilson fled tha scene with tha handgun and later turned himself in to BRPD custody. According to Wilson, he told police that he shot Nicholas 'cause he feared for his life because he knew Nicholas always had a gun on him. On Wednesday morning, Wilson was booked into tha East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, being charged with attempted manslaughter and illegal use of a weapon. Nicholas, on Saturday, April 8, 2017, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to tha neck; he was only 23 years-old.

Review #1,698: YB "Don't Die Wondering"
Reviewed on 3.23.2017 (Review #1,698)
Happy
57th day in a row of reviewin’ CDs & only three more dayz till
my dream comes true!! A bonus review aside from my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, I have YB Don’t Die Wondering,
here, released on Dirty Dinero Gang! Also, YB’s birthday’s this Saturday, March
25, tha day before my dream comes true! Shit’s amazing! For now, I’m lookin’
forward to gettin’ to this review! Start
Time: 4:20 PM | End Time: 4:55 PM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0
– 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!
I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long
as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and
then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a
song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6
rating, I pretty much really love it,
as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I
hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type
before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything
after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening
to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your
vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’
topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

“Pull Up” feat. Razy Ray
Time
ta kick this one off!! >>> Sounds refreshin’ to hear new music! I’ve
only reviewed one current Louisiana CD a month, so far this year! Definitely
sounds refreshin’, here, wit tha production! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty
nice, here; great shit from you, Y-Bizzle!! Your song, “Broski’s”, with Tazz,
has become one of tha best songs I’ve played from Louisiana! Song reminds me of my broski,
who’s currently locked up, in which I added tha track on his birthday, last
year (September 9)! Definitely nice! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse,
here, and it’s pretty nice; good shit! Gotta dig tha consistent, street shit
you bringin’ to tha table, here! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s
pretty dope from Mr. Razy Ray, here; luv how he has a lot ta offer, here… My Rating: 4.3
02.
“Fugazi” feat. Razy Ray
>>>
I thought this sounded familiar; shout out to $hop With Ken… My Current Rating: 4.3
03.
“Public Enemy”
>>>
I like how this sounds, here; definitely a nice hook from you, here, over this
beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you soundin’ nice wit this shit;
gotta luv what you bring! Gotta luv what you bringin’ to tha 2nd
verse on this beat, too; good shit to tha fullest!! My Rating: 4.2
04.
“Get Up & Go Get It” feat. King Joe
>>>
Comin’ through wit dem Ken beats, here; definitely nice! Hearin’ tha hook and
it’s pretty nice wit this motivated hook, of course! Gotta luv how you “go get
it!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit what you’re
comin’ through, here! Who don’t got “overtime,” right? Got Mr. Joe on tha 2nd
verse, here, comin’ through wit consistent rhymes, but soundin’ decent ta me… My Rating: 4.0
05.
“Birthplace”
Bwahahaha
/ ROFL! Definitely somethin’ classic, here!! Like it even more than I did!! My Current Rating: 4.9
½time: You doin’ yo shit, of
course! Gotta luv havin’ new music from you!! Hope I get to meet you on Sunday,
Monday or Tuesday!! A 4.3-rated CD, so far! Keep doin’ yo shit!
06.
“Go Hard”
>>>
This sounds nice, even tho I know this one, too… Still, definitely nice ta have
some of these tracks on here! My Current
Rating: 4.3
07.
“Hunnit Man”
Bring
it on! >>> Guss doin’ one of your beats, here… I’ono about tha start
of tha plain-soundin’ beat, so far… Feels like I’ve heard this before…? Hearin’
tha 1st verse and it’s decent, here… Rhymes are ehh/what anyone can
spit but I always love when you rap… And, tha 2nd verse ain’t that
bad, here; decent wit what you bringin’… My
Rating: 3.7
08.
“Child So Bad” feat. JM Larry & S4 Lil’ Mike
I’m
lookin’ forward ta hearin’ this one; bring it!! >>> Sounds like a nice
lil’ gangsta-soundin’ beat, here, includin’ this lil’ sample in tha beginning…
Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice from you, holdin’ shit down! Tha
hook’s nice wit tha sample; definitely dope wit how we’ve evolved in life! Good
shit comin’ outta tha 2nd verse, here, strictly keepin’ it Rouge fa
tha Rouge! And, good shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, too;
definitely nice wit tha voice/content/delivery! My Rating: 4.3
09.
“Swing My Door” feat. King Joe
>>>
Not bad beat, here; decent lil’ hook… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse
and you rappin’ fast, here; crazy shit… And, tha hook ain’t that bad, here;
just luvin’ tha new Louisiana
music…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from King Joe and it’s nice; just keep
rappin’… My Rating: 3.7
10.
“Ballin’ Hard”
>>>
More Ken tracks… Tha beat sounds like it’s a high feelin’ to embrace, or
somethin’? Nice lil’ 1st verse, here… Tha hook sounds nice ta hear,
even tho sometimes, I feel like it sounds mainstream… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and I’m likin’ how you sound a lil’ more upbeat in your voice, here…
Almost thought there was gon be a 3rd verse but it’s close to a minute
of an outro, here… My Rating: 3.9
11.
“Long Way” feat. Dinero Costello
>>>
Sounds like it gon be anotha nice Ken beat, but my mind keeps throwin’ me off,
as if I heard some of these tracks, already… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s good,
but betta once you say tha title part! That 2nd ½ of tha hook nice…!
Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you “come from tha bottom like grass,”
lol! Nice job wit what you bringin’ to tha table, here… Hearin’ Dinero on tha 2nd
verse, here, comin’ through wit some catchy rhymes; can’t deny ‘em… My Rating: 4.1
Overall: Other than “Birthplace”’s
extraordinary rating, there weren’t really any crazy-ass ratings. However,
definitely tha selection of bangerz, here! Good shit, YB! Always hope you do
music all day, err-day!!
