End of tha month, time ta do some reviewz b4 tha month ends… First up, Masta Mind Entertainment’s Low Down, not to be confused wit tha Ville Plate Low-Down (with a dash in his name); this Low Down’s from Denham Springs & Prairieville. Here’s my review for his latest CD, Street Contract. Start Time: 9:55 AM | End Time: 10:17 AM

I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. 02. “Low Down”

Self-titled? >>> Prolly could do without this sample; why tha ‘70s-soundin’ beat? Rappin’ and voice iz good, although tha rappin’ sounds all jumbled in this not-called-for beat! My Rating: 3.1

03. “Glock Tucked”

>>> “Side 2 Side” comin’ outta nowhere? Thought all tha beats would be original or online… Anyway, sounds a lil’ random wit tha rhymes and shit, once again. My Rating: 2.5

04. “Round Town” Feat. Gutta Baby & John B

>>> This ain’t too bad, overall; I actually am diggin’ this laidback vibe, wit a lil’ bit of soul in tha beat. Tha hook sounds like a good day in tha H-Town? Almost was gonna criticize it for bein’ too long, but if you say this iz an “album,” then it’s acceptable. However, if it was a “mixtape,” no way! Sounds like a good collaboration between tha three of y’all; feels like you can’t help but ta drive in a car forever! My Rating: 4.0

05. “Get Rich”

>>> Why’d tha beat turn acoustic? I like tha ‘90s feel, but not tha acoustic feel! Tha rhymes sound pretty good, here, and you’re doin’ a good job spittin’ that gangsta shit ta “protect [your] family.” My Rating: 3.6

06. “Toat My Shit” Feat. Icky

Everytime I see tha word “toat,” I think it’s a toad, lol. >>> I like tha beginning, how you’re talkin’ about hidin’ your shit within your “boxers” and shit. Once again, tha beat changed from tha beginning, but at least it sounds like it’s on some g-shit; definitely a nice joint/hook! Pretty scary ta “toat [your] shit” frequently; glad I’ve neva toated anything ever, and how most of my family believes in not havin’ a gun in tha house for safety reasons. Likin’ tha 2^nd verse wit that voice and shit, even though some of tha lyrics don’t compare to tha hook and 1^st verse! Can’t “make it rain,” here! My Rating: 4.1

07. “If It Ain’t One Thang” Feat. Gutta Baby

>>> Beat sounds like a café, here… Kinda sounds good, but funny; Gutta Baby seems to make tha hook sound pretty nice, though, wit his voice and flow. You do a nice job wit tha rhymes, but I think this iz good for a Gutta Baby song; nice 2^nd verse! Fast rhymes, great lyrics, and tha voice ta hold shit down! My Rating: 3.9

08. Skit

>>> Sounds like a great skit, dark style? I love how y’all use y’all dialect ta talk; black people will always rule!!! My Rating: N/A

½time: You sound pretty good, although tha CD’s just decent for me, so far; 3.5 for tha CD rating, currently.

09. “Like A Man”

>>> Rhymes are good, but beat’s a lil’ boring for me; really? Almost 4.5 minutes long? My Rating: 3.2

10. “Stay Wit Me”

I hate how this DatPiff tracklisting’s messed up from tha back cover; annoying… >>> You sound like a gigglin’ teddy bear or somethin’ wit tha “stay wit me, baby” shit. Unless this iz orgasmic, this sounds corny for me, and this beat ain’t really for me. If it’s a conversation, at least it’s a different flow. My Rating: 2.7

11. “Tipsy”

>>> Tha echoed words are distracting… Sounds like a random club banger that can sound good, but doesn’t sound like it has value to it or anything… My Rating: 3.4

12. “How I Live Foreal” Feat. Gutta Baby & G-1

>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here; this struggle y’all rappin’ about sounds good for tha lyrics, here. Even tha singin’ on tha hook ain’t too bad, too; good collaboration, especially Gutta Baby and his anti “rap video” perspective on “how” he lives! My Rating: 3.8

13. “Structure”

>>> A smooth joint that ain’t too bad—ooh, x-rated rhymes, lol! Also, likin’ that this iz only 2:06; nice and quick! My Rating: 4.0

14. “Steady Stackin’” Feat. Gutta Baby

Gutta Baby’s featured, but not on tha back cover, smh? >>> Likin’ tha beat, although it sounds Three 6ish… But, nice job wit tha hook; Gutta Baby comin’ through wit his hood’s G-shit! You’re comin’ through wit some G-shit, too; good shit… My Rating: 4.1

15. “Hell Of A Life (Freestyle)”

It’s a freestyle, accordin’ to tha filename on DatPiff… >>> Sounds catchy wit some of your rhymes; decent… My Rating: 3.7

16. “Time 2 Go”

>>> I like that tha beat has a faster vibe, but it sounds jacked for me; tha hook’s catchy wit this random girl, although this iz soundin’ a lil’ random wit tha rhymes… My Rating: 3.6

17. “Holla Gangsta” Feat. Gutta Baby

LOL, not on tha back cover, randomly? This must be “Holla Gangsta” w/Gutta Baby; I’ll put it as tha 17^th track… >>> Nice beat you’re rappin’ on, here; Gutta Baby’s not really gutta, but strictly “gangsta” wit this shit! Should be called Gangsta Baby, or G-Baby? Naw, just keep your name, I’m just playin’! Great job wit tha collaboration and kick-ass attitude! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Thumbs up, for tha most part; mainly decent, but there wasn’t too much that was bad for me…

Interesting title. >>> Good intro, real oldies style. Switched up to an East Coast vibe…; good rhymes. Really not into samples on tha hooks, but this’ll slide, just a little… My Rating: 3.4

02. “Anna’s Babies”

Interesting that you use letters to determine tha track numbers; that’s a first. I remember this song; good appearance, 2010 style! My Current Rating: 4.4

03. “Ah Dea”

Interesting spelling of tha words in this title. >>> Not really into sampled music, too much (sounds like “All My Life” (K-Ci & JoJo). For some reason, I’m startin’ to like this a lil’ more, once tha beat starts kickin’ in… Lyrics are kinda good, wit tha flow, but I can’t tolerate tha “stacks on deck.” Then again, at least you’re not a “money virgin” with me, so you can talk about money. Either way, I still think it’s a played-out topic… My Rating: 3.8

04. “Diamonds & Rubies” Feat. The School Of Artists: Azo The Wiz & Sun7ife

>>> Nothing standing out in tha beat or rhymes, here, for a song. Tha only thing that’s catchin’ my attention iz tha hook, with literally, tha “diamonds & rubies.” My Rating: 3.3

05. “Drinks On Me” Feat. Chris Jones & The School Of Artists: Azo The Wiz & Sun7life

Not my kinda title… >>> Nothing special for me, but not terrible. My Rating: 2.9

06. “Zydeco”

A lil’ above decent on a 2^nd listen, months and months later. I still was like a faggot tha 1^st time I heard this song, only months away from growin’ up! My Current Rating: 3.7

07. “Country Music”

? >>> Didn’t really understand tha first 16 seconds… Ehh, with tha title comin’ into play, this ain’t really up to par with me. Music sounds a lil’ better than some of tha jointz on here, though. My Rating: 3.2

08. “Theme Song” Feat. Azo The Wiz & Venisha Butler

I appreciate you doin’ business wit me wit this song, but this iz far from anything for me. When can we say, “R.I.P. Auto-Tune”? Thank God I gon have my own Top 2,000 Songs of 2000s decade-end countdown, soon, before Hip-Hop got ruined! My Current Rating: 1.4

½time: A lil’ below average, but not too much; 3.3 for tha CD rating, currently.

09. “Acquired Taste” Feat. Sun7ife, JG & Chris Jones

Can’t read tha 2^nd artist on tha feature (had to look online)… >>> Not exciting music, but I like that title and how tha title iz applied to tha hook. Thumbs up for tha features, at least. My Rating: 3.6

10. “Check”

>>> Why does this sound like jacked-beat music? Almost wanna skip this; anyone can make this shit. Tha hook sounds a lil’ (very lil’) catchy wit that “check”list. My Rating: 2.5

11. “Blk Ivry” Feat. Sun7ife

Another hard-to-read title… >>> More below-average music for me… Tha hook sounds really good wit tha title repeating, but tha sample just ruined it for me! My Rating: 3.4

12. “ManMade” Feat. Sun7ife

>>> Another good intro fulla old music… This music’s slightly better than tha other shit on here, and tha rhymes are pretty good, too. Tha hook also sounds good; it’s like how I like tha previous one, only without a gay sample in tha background. My Rating: 3.8

13. “Flashout”

A really slow vybe, here, but it’s pretty tight wit your flow and rhymes. My Current Rating: 4.3

14. “Mic Myers”

>>> Really good beat start (best one?), so far, despite a name as tha title… Nice job wit tha consistent rhymes; hook iz nice, too! My Rating: 4.0

15. “Fork” Feat. Azo The Wiz

Nice and concrete for tha title. >>> I don’t hear anything that stands out, so far… All that “pussy” and “hoes” shit in tha 1^st verse sounds like tha typical rap that I hear from every rapper, so it’s nothing to comment on; not horrible, but nothing special, either. My Rating: 3.0

16. “Problems Pt. 2” Feat. The School Of Artists: Azo The Wiz & Sun7ife

Why was this left off tha back cover? >>> Beat’s okay, but qualifies for some good hip-hop… Tha rhymes and tha hook’s pretty catchy; good job, overall. My Rating: 3.9

Overall: Just about decent; I’ll give it that. I had no intentions of reviewin’ this for a while, but I needed new music and a possible interview for this week’s radio show (already in two dayz, smh—never get a break). So, I’ll be sure to be hittin’ u up tomorrow (Friday, tha 13^th). You’ve been a two-hit wonder on tha phone wit me, so if you don’t answer, I just move on to someone else ‘cause I can’t afford to cancel another show (had a no-show last Saturday; pretty disappointing, and just makes me wanna quit my show ASAP—doin’ that August 17, 2012).

>>> Kinda childish on tha title/usin’ it as an action verb; D-Matic sounds good on tha hook, outta nowhere, though. For you, you are rappin’ some good shit, though; can’t deny dat… D-Matic’s doin’ his thang on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit tha great verse, flow, and content! You holdin’ down tha final verse, here, wit D-Matic, too; gotta luv some of tha collaboration work goin’ on wit this CD! My Rating: 3.7

>>> I dunno why but I thought this was gonna be a gangsta-type song wit tha “low” (like, keep it on tha “low”). But, this sounds a lil’ soft for me, for tha ladies… Killa K a lady? Prolly said this once before, but she sounds good… You sound pretty tight wit tha feature; rofl @ randomly sayin’, “like Level, iz you wet yet.” It’s kinda like, that song’s actually known? What about my music? Nobody quotes me… I thought I had some not-so-tight starting feedback, but it seemed to pick up… My Rating: 3.6

I dunno why, but I thought tha feature said, “Da Underground Kingz,” as a DatPiff-removed song or somethin’… >>> Good vibe; lol, soundin’ like Pimp C, here? Sounds good wit tha “UGK”-type content. My Rating: 4.1


08. “Ride Wit Me” Feat. Lyric
>>> Kinda soft, but I’m likin’ that hook wit tha gurl. Lyric’s not tha gurl? Hearin’ a feature on tha 1^st verse, and I assume it’s Lyric; guess tha hook’s a sample/pre-made hook? Either way, I’m likin’ this, wit a West Coast tip! You’re followin’ tha featured dude, comin’ through wit that great voice and this talent! My Rating: 4.0


09. “Koolin’”
>>> Sounds like a pop-rap beat or somethin’ (like “Soulja Girl”)…; really mixed-up shit, here, between tha pop-rap Vybe beat, vs. your fast-ass, tight content. Prolly could’ve shortened this joint a lil’ bit, but whateva… Overall, I think this iz a good turnout, on a relaxin’ tip wit tha “koolin’.” My Rating: 3.8

>>> Sounds like a good club song, kinda in an underground way. My Rating: 4.1

12. “Hustle Everyday” Feat. Yung & Mutta Gutta
>>> I like how this sounds; you really holdin’ it down fa every single dude out there, no matter what their status/job iz! Thumbs up fa this hook; tha content’s definitely on-point!! Good shit from Yung on tha 2^nd verse, too; lol, he all about dat tasty shit, ya dig? Who’s this Mutta Gutta? Ooh, a non-Baton Rouge version of Sam I Am, mixed wit a lil’ bit of Magic? Definitely feelin’ tha Louisiana vibe he’s bringin’ to tha table! My Rating: 4.3


13. “Money” Feat. John B & D-Matic
Not my kinda title. >>> Why iz tha length 4:59? At least tha song iz on-point, without anything bullshitty comin’ outta it, so far… Good job wit tha hook; you really holdin’ shit down, once again! Good job wit tha 1^st verse; keep reppin’ fa err-body! Tha 2^nd verse iz John B—whoeva this iz—comin’ through wit good shit fa tha area you rep, too! Now, lemme hear what tha big dawg, Matic, has ta offer… Yes, definitely feelin’ this street shit he’s bringin’ to this track; nice job, but lol @ all this interest wit “money” err-body has! My Rating: 4.4

>>> For tha ladies? Thought it was gonna be for tha male haterz. Good job wit tha rhymes, too; likin’ what you got goin’ on wit tha verses, too! My Rating: 4.2

>>> Sounds like a calm version of tha previous song, lol; good rhymes about tryin’ ta “relax,” ya feel me? My Rating: 3.8


16. “On My Own”
>>> An okay sound, so far; nothin’ too special for me… Then again, I didn’t hear your rappin’, yet; you know your rappin’ iz what adds that extra spice to tha track!! Good job; keep, keep, keep, keep, keep goin’!!! My Rating: 4.1


17. “Mind Ur Business” Feat. John B
>>> Iz John B tha singe—oh, I keep forgettin’ he’s a rapper, lol. But, anotha good pre-made hook song, here, it sounds like. You can get away wit any kinda content, for tha most part; most rappers I be hearin’ can’t pull it off like you! John B sounds good wit his advice in tha 1^st verse; thumbs up… Here you are on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit your evidence; good job, between tha advice and tha evidence! My Rating: 4.0


18. “Witout Cha” Feat. Yung
What kinda title’s this? Should it be “Outcha”? I think it could be both wayz… >>> Sounds good for a slow song. Oh, actually, it should be “Witout”; compound way. Not really into knowin’ that there’s a sample goin’ on here wit tha vocals on tha hook (Simply Red “Holding Back The Years”). Actually, I’m likin’ it a lil’ betta; at least it ain’t a high-pitched female vocal sample! Good collaboration, once again, between you & Yung; can’t deny it! My Rating: 3.9


19. “Wham” Feat. Yung
>>> This iz catchy; a sound effect in tha title iz always good! Yung’s comin’ through wit some nice shit on tha 1^st verse! “Like an axe ‘bout ta come out dis bitch;” nice line, especially havin’ an “axe” as what comes out! At least it ain’t on some typical, gun shit; thumbs up fa this shit! Based off tha length, I thought there was gonna be three verses, but it’s only two. You’re on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit rhymes you gotta luv, especially when “marijuana”’s in it! My Rating: 4.2

>>> This iz aight for me; sounds like a random voice goin’ on, here, wit tha sample… Yung sounds like a calm version of Level, a lil’ bit, wit tha voice, here, mixed wit a lil’ 225; good job, again… Again, I thought this was gonna be a three-verse song, but it’s two, lol; nice job from you wit your catchy flow, Black; gotta keep it goin’!! My Rating: 3.9

>>> Beat’s a lil’ soft for me, here… You’re on tha 1^st verse and it sounds good; analyzin’ tha fakes, here, wit some good shit… Tha hook’s a lil’ dry for me; liked tha Killa K one and also, tha Lyric feature one better, whether it was pre-made or not. LOL, anotha two-verse song outta nowhere (tha lineup confused me, this time); good job, Yung, again. My Rating: 3.3


Overall: For me not bein’ one bit in tha mood for tha reviewz, right now, I thought this CD was definitely nice; felt great to give it a good review! Keep up tha great work; thumbs up fa bein’ nice and consistent wit what chu do!

That’s right! >>> Sounds like some West Coast-type jacked song (like “Good-Ass Day” from Tha Dogg Pound, I think); interestin’… Good, consistent, fast rhymes, delivered in a great way! My Rating: 4.1

>>> LOL, Vybe beat. I like this title and how you handle it. Nice job wit tha catchy verses; good shit, doin’ ya thang. My Rating: 3.9


03. “Grindin’”
>>> This sounds decent; I like how you be rappin’ wit your style and dat Southern voice. Even down ta tha singin’ on tha hook: interestin’ shit, here. My Rating: 4.0

>>> Nice beat start, this time. LOL, you sound focused on tha hook wit dis title; feelin’ it, to tha max!! Almost givin’ me a Lil’ Cali-type of vibe, here, wit how you handle this one! Only a snippet? >>> Good intro although I don’t think this iz a special-soundin’ beat, either. Tha singin’ in this hook’s a lil’ worse than tha previous one; tha rappin’ from you sounds aight/a lil’ strange wit tha background singin’ vocals… My Rating: 3.3


08. “Havin’ Thangs” Feat. G-1 & B-Max
>>> Damn, you jacked tha hook, here? A while ago, there was, like, a Pimp C/Bun B/Texas-soundin’ song wit this title, so that’s, kinda, a minus fa jackin’ tha hook; at least your rappin’ iz good… Tha 2nd verse sounds nice for tha vibe… Tha 3rd verse iz on some real shit, but sounds like nothin’ special fa me. My Rating: 3.5

>>> Vybe, lol. Anotha singin’ hook? This one sounds good but you sound much betta when you emerge outta nowhere wit your tightness!! Thumbs up ta tha rappin’, too, here; definitely some nice shit, overall! My Rating: 4.2

>>> Feelin’ tha Southern vibe fa dis beat. Again, you have a good collaboration, here; really likin’ tha content, here! It’s all about tha “South”!! >>> Hook’s a lil’ strange, at first, but it sounds good wit dis vibe. Glad you got Go Getta on tha feature, here; his descriptive rhymes are definitely tight, here!! Definitely feelin’ what he bringin’ to tha table!! Of course, you’re comin’ through wit your nice shit! You got a great voice ta hold dis shit down—or should I say, “dann,” lol! My Rating: 4.3


12. “Party” Feat. Go Getta
Yes, anotha Go Getta feature! >>> Anotha strange hook wit tha vocals… You’re startin’ dis off, Gutta Baby; so far, so good… Ooh, Go Getta’s “playin’ cards;” gotta feel dis shit! Nice job, once again; 3x a consistent charm!! My Rating: 4.0


13. “I Do”
>>> Now, there’s no Go Getta and you’re in trouble wit dis one. Tha vocals are weird on tha hook but it’s always these lyrics/content dat keeps catchin’ my attention. Then, your tight rhymes come outta nowhere; I guess dat balances tha track? My Rating: 3.7

Lots of short songs… >>> Damn, double-negative wit tha vocals on tha hook and tha cliché-soundin’ lyrics, too. Good, real shit you spittin’ in tha verse, here! My Rating: 3.4

Features! >>> Vybe beat… Ooh @ tha hook; feelin’ tha attitude and real hook! Tha 1st verse sounds good; great representations wit tha features and club vibes! Tha 2nd verse, also wit one of tha features, sounds good, too! You comin’ through on tha 3rd verse wit a great attitude, here! Overall, look what collaborators do! My Rating: 4.2

>>> SMH, Tupac interview in tha beginning? Bad-soundin’ beat ta go wit dat, too? Even though I criticized, I think tha hook’s pretty good, fa you, and tha verse sounds like you can deliver some good shit. Overall, not really for me, but it’s not too bad. My Rating: 3.6

>>> Good beat start, lol? Well, tha 1st coupla seconds. Again, gettin’ sick of these singin’-type hooks even though I’m likin’ them fa your songs… Only decent, overall; can’t get too interested in tha content. My Rating: 3.2

Ooh, looks tight. >>> WTH wit tha Tupac intro? I did like what he said, though. LOL @ tha “I’ma smoke weed ‘cause that’s what niggas do” part; I wonder where tha obsession comes from? Do you remember date and time when you first smoked? Be creative by rememberin’! Definitely a catchy hook, ya dig? Thumbs up ta Yung bein’ featured, again; lol, “tabs” instead of “weed,” here, lol! You already know it’s all together in a family, lol. You have good rhymes, here, too; gotta feel it! My Rating: 4.4

Last song. >>> Knew it sounded familiar; was on my radio show. Didn’t realize who was who but you’re tha tight rapper; no wonder! Tha rhymes caught my attention ‘cause I wouldn’t’ve played somethin’ wit dis beat on my radio show! Also, I had it as a different title on my radio show, smh. And, I think tha ID was flipped, which makes it worse. My Current Rating: 3.8


Overall: Looks like you did good…; 3.9 for tha CD rating? That’s pretty good for a non-Baton Rouge artist that’s not too known!

>>> Good rappin’ (of course) but nothin’ special ‘bout dis beat. I like your rappin’ but it got cliché wit tha “shit, who” part. My Rating: 3.5

>>> What wit tha quiet, first few seconds? Same thing wit tha previous song: sounded like there was silence in tha beginning. Anyway, thought I wouldn’t be too interested but you really have tha hook on lock here!! I remember wit tha last CD, there was an echo wit tha word “grind”. Now, it’s “doe” echoin’ and it sounds tighter than before!! Tha rappin’ ain’t too bad, here, but that hook’s really tight! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: You have a 3.7 for this CD. Although more songs, tha previous CD had betta Southern soundings… Sounds like you’re tryna go Pop or somethin’ on this one at times.

Sounds like tha lyrics don’t even match tha title. I thought this would be on a swag level (even though I don’t wanna hear about dat shit) but it’s about shit in tha real world? Doesn’t mix… Then again, tha hook says, “I’m a-okay;” whatever. My Rating: 3.4

Overall: A lil’ on tha mainstream tip; your last CD was definitely betta. Some of tha ratings could’ve been a lot lower but your rappin’ helped at times.
