Frank Calhoune Music Bio

1988 - 2003: Early Life

Frank Calhoune (born June 21, 1988), also known as FrankieThaLuckyDog, is a self-proclaimed, multi-media master.  Born on Long Island, NY & later raised in Northeast PA, Frankie began experiencing a love for rhythmic music, during the spring of 2000.  Embracing both dance music & hip-hop music, Frankie's energy & passion was influenced by Long Island's radio station, Party 105.3.  Just as Frankie was embracing rhythmic music, one day in the 6th grade, he developed a strange earworm condition; music would continuously play in Frankie's head, non-stop.  Till this day, Frankie continuously hears music play in his head, no matter if there's music playing around him.

On September 27, 2000, during his 6th grade Italian class, Frankie made his music debut by singing & imitating the music to the Yomanda Radio Edit of "Spente Le Stelle" by Opera Trance feat. Emma Shapplin.  Frankie called his version "Spente Le Stella", as an ode to a Staci girl he liked, in his class.

Despite performing in front of his class, Frankie's earworm condition would later affect Frankie's behavior, as he would have trouble socializing.  While evaluated on February 12, 2001, Frankie was diagnosed with autism.  The doctor that diagnosed Frankie also detected that Frankie's autism condition would later evolve into Asperger's Syndrome, if he can continue to be a high-functioning being.

On November 4, 2002, while on message board forum, Neoseeker, Frankie needed to come up with a username; he chose "FrankieThaLuckyDog".  The username consisted of his nickname, Frankie, his urban spelling of "the" ("tha"), the adjective "lucky" to express his luck for the lottery & "dog", his favorite animal & one of his favorite slang-nouns in the rap world.

On May 28, 2003, while in the cafeteria at high school, Frankie was approached by one of his peers about rapping.  After adding a third line to Frankie's first rhyme, Frankie had his first rap: "Yo, I like this girl named Amber; and, I was like, 'Damn, look at her!'  And, these other guys told me to slam her."  After impressing his peers at his high school, Frankie began writing four-bar raps, throughout high school.

2006 - 2010: Making Music, Music Videos, Frankie's Louisiana Connection, "Tha Louisiana Pit" & Tha Louisiana Archives

On July 14, 2006, Frankie began blending songs together, such as "Where Da Draped-Up Cash At", where he combined Curren$y, Lil' Wayne & Remy Ma's "Where Da Cash At"'s vocals with Bun B's "Draped Up" instrumental & hook.  On July 20, 2006, Frankie made his debut producing, as he took a shot at producing off his younger cousin, Anthony's toy keyboard.  These two talents would later come into play, starting July 25, 2019, where Frankie would begin to remix other artists' songs to his own productions.

On November 19, 2006, Frankie recorded a version of Fedde Le Grand's "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" called "Put Your Hands Up For Long Island"; the music video, Frankie's first-ever music video, was released on January 23, 2007.  Frankie also earned his first-ever radio spin, when the track aired on a Party 105 mixshow, back on February 20, 2008.

On August 19, 2007, Frankie completed his first-ever original song, "Who I Am".  The song was about letting the people know who Frankie was; the music video was released three days later, on August 22, 2007.  Frankie made his debut performance by performing the song live, at Lackawanna College's CYC building, in Scranton, PA, on November 13, 2007.

On October 11, 2007, while at Lackawanna College's old library, Frankie was browsing former message board, Word of South's My Block forum.  He stumbled across a topic called "New Gangsta Gumbo Mixtape" & took interest into whatever was behind it.  It was a topic about Kenner, LA DJ, Jimmy the DJ, releasing his debut mixtape, Gangsta Gumbo, Vol. 1; at the time, Frankie was trying to build a friendship with his peer/college football player, Jeff Gumbs.  The "gumb" in Gumbo caught Frankie's attention, to where he had asked Jimmy to mail him a copy of the mixtape for a review.  On November 27, 2007, Frankie reviewed the mixtape, after receiving it in the mail.  Despite the review being only average, Frankie wanted to hear more from Louisiana, since his original goal was to be closer to meeting Lil' Wayne.

On January 28, 2008, Jimmy mailed Frankie more Louisiana releases in the mail.  After reviewing them all each night, during Black History Month, 2008, Frankie caught on to hearing various Baton Rouge, LA, underground artists for the first time.  During the month of February 2008, Frankie heard C-Loc, DJ B Real, Kevin Gates, Level & Racked-Up Ready, just to name a few.

On April 13, 2008, for the first time, Frankie produced & wrote a song for someone else.  The song was "Heart Throbbin' Every Heartbeat", which was performed by his grandma, Grandma Down the Block.  Just like his own perspective on "Who I Am", "Heart Throbbin' Every Heartbeat" was written by Frankie, on who his grandma was; the music video was released that same day.

On May 18, 2008, Frankie was awarded his Associate's Degree in Business Studies, from Lackawanna College.

On October 29, 2008, Frankie completed his 3rd single, "Change Tha World", featuring his cousin, Jen, who he called "Tha Wennipearl".  The song was about changing the world for when Obama got elected for President; the music video was released on November 4, 2008, Election Day.

On September 19, 2009, originally as a Practicum requirement for college, Frankie debuted his own college radio show, "Tha Louisiana Pit", on Scranton's Marywood University's radio station, VMFM 91.7.  The radio show consisted of all underground music from Louisiana; Frankie radio-edited over 2,000 songs for the show.  "Tha Louisiana Pit" went on until its 100th episode, on August 19, 2012, where it was Frankie's final week at college.

On March 19, 2010, after his late brother, Michael, was poisoned from a reckless night with alcohol, Frankie created his 4th single, "Sleepless Nights"; the song was about Mike's troubled times of abusing drugs.  Frankie wanted to create a wake-up call for his brother, in a song/video format.  The music video was released on July 5, 2010 & was aired on Northeast PA's ION TV, on November 17, 2011.

On May 11, 2010, Frankie began hosting & mixing his own mixtape compilations called Tha Louisiana Archives; the compilations would feature new & emerging music from Louisiana.  Frankie would release a new edition every time a new season occurred.  In total, Frankie released 17 mixtape compilations, up until March 20, 2014; the lack of new music & demand lead to Frankie ending the mixtape series.

2010 - 2011: LuckyDogz Entertainment Label & Within A Personal Point Of View Album

On July 5, 2010, in honor of the release of his "Sleepless Nights" music video, Frankie created his own record label, LuckyDogz Entertainment.  The label consists of Frankie's releases, as well as productions he's made for others.

During the fall of 2010, while studying for Digital Media and Broadcast Productions, Frankie needed to complete a graduation project in order to earn his Bachelor's Degree.  His goal was to create his debut album, which he titled, Within A Personal Point Of View.  The album was about the personal struggles & accomplishments Frankie had achieved, throughout this lifetime.  The album was produced & written entirely by Frankie, released on December 14, 2010.

The following day, December 15, 2010, Frankie released the 5th single from his album, "Invisible".  The song was inspired about an incident that occurred while Frankie was attending Marywood.  On April 12, 2010, while on the computer in the college's radio station's office, Frankie was alongside two other digital media peers, when a new girl walked into the room.  One of the peers introduced herself to the girl, as well as introduced the other girl; Frankie was excluded.  The incident left Frankie heartbroken, as he recorded the song with anger & confusion, as to why people treated him as "invisible."  However, due to working on a documentary about his life for a Master's Degree project, Frankie never had the chance to release a music video for the track.  Frankie did perform a snippet of the song live, though, at Scranton's Irish Wolfe Pub, on June 22, 2011, alongside "Sleepless Nights".

On May 8, 2011, Frankie was awarded his Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media and Broadcast Productions, from Marywood University.

2012 - 2016: WFTLD Newz Album, Its Singles & Frank Calhoune Stage Name

Originally not sure of when a follow-up album was gonna drop, Frankie continued to record & drop music, whenever he had something to say.  On November 8, 2012, Frankie flew down to Hollywood, FL to record a new single, "Tha Estatescalade".  The title is a combination of the words "estates" and "escalating" & was about an event that occurred on September 14, 2012.  News broke out at Hollywood Estates, in Hollywood FL, that everyone living in the park were getting evicted; this included Frankie's grandma, Grandma Down the Block & her mother.  Frankie shot the music video during their final days at Hollywood Estates; the music video was released on November 23, 2012.

On May 12, 2013, Frankie was awarded his Master's Degree in Production, from Marywood University.

On January 28, 2014, Frankie released his next single, "My Obscure, Unsure, Impure Future"; the song was about how Frankie was struggling in all avenues.  His brother, Mike, was trying to take advantage of him, as well as having problems with his music peers & trying to make his debut in the work field.  Unsure of what his future was like, Frankie made his debut in the work field, on March 24, 2014 & the music video was released five days later, on March 29, 2014.

On June 15, 2015, Mass Appeal Records released their 56th issue of their seasonal magazine.  The magazine featured a six-page article on Frankie's career in media, as he was interviewed by David Drake.

On November 2, 2015, Frankie received a letter in the mail from Baton Rouge rapper, Percy Keith, after writing him.  Unable to put the name "FrankieThaLuckyDog" on the letter, Percy wrote "Frank Calhoune" as Frankie's name.  From there, Frankie began using the name "Frank Calhoune" as a stage name, when it comes to being an artist & producer; his username, FrankieThaLuckyDog, is still used for promoting.  Frankie then went to announce that his 2nd album, WFTLD Newz, was in the making.  The name, WFTLD Newz, represents call letters of his username & the news stories he had witnessed in his life, since the making of his 1st album.  Now being influenced by dark nights, urban-exploring, weed & Percy Keith, Frankie began to show off a more darker, trippy side of his music.

On December 4, 2015, Frankie recorded what would be his 3rd single from WFTLD Newz called "From Tha Treehouse 2 Da Dark Vines"; it would be the first recording of his under the Frank Calhoune stage name.  The song was about Frankie embracing his life and success, while being under the influence of marijuana.  The "treehouse" aspect comes from Frankie enjoying himself in his cousins, Darryl & Anthony's treehouse.  The "dark vines" aspect comes from Frankie being loaded in the passenger's seat, getting driven around to various dark areas.  The music video for "From Tha Treehouse 2 Da Dark Vines" was released on December 22, 2015.

On April 26, 2016, WFTLD Newz was released; Frankie then released the 4th single from the album called "Cleaned By Tha Boy Who Got High".  The song was about Frankie going on hikes at the Lackawanna College Environmental Institute, located in Covington Township, PA.  Frankie would notice trash laying around & being under the influence of marijuana, he would be productive enough to discard the trash.  The music video for "Cleaned By Tha Boy Who Got High" was released on July 15, 2016.

2016 - Present: Autistic Stoner Rap, Vol. 1: A Trip To B.R. Album, Its Singles & His Own Sub-Genre of Rap

Throughout 2016, while dealing with Dunkin' Donuts drama at his full-time job, Frankie developed a closer friendship with Boosie Badazz's cousin, Baton Rouge rapper/producer, Doe-Doe.  For Doe-Doe's son, Cruz's 4th birthday, on December 15, 2016, Frankie produced a quick beat for Doe-Doe to rap on.  The track would later be titled "Fresh Out Tha Dungeon (Intro)", released on December 24, 2017.  Frankie produced the song to revive Doe-Doe's lost music career, which went on hold after 2010.  The song was made as an intro track & the 1st single to Frankie's upcoming, 3rd album, Autistic Stoner Rap, Vol. 1: A Trip To B.R..  The track was made to shine light on Frankie's qualities of being there for Doe-Doe, as well as enjoying life.  After three failed attempts at trying to get Doe-Doe to come up to PA to film the music video, he finally came to visit Frankie, on the fourth attempt to PA; the music video was released on December 21, 2018.

On September 13, 2018, after smoking a blunt & putting it out in a bowl, Frankie noticed the marks on the filter looked like a strange face.  From there, he debuted the term "autistic stoner rap," which later developed into his own sub-genre of rap music.  Frankie describes autistic stoner rap from two different perspectives; when collaborating with Baton Rouge producers and/or artists, the energy Baton Rouge provides on the track makes Frankie channel his own energy, while rapping his autistic style.  When producing for other artists, Frankie focuses more on a lo-fi production.  Frankie utilizies sounds in his production to where the listener can feel the sounds, especially while under the influence.  Baton Rouge had paved the way for Frankie's growth with Asperger's Syndrome; Frankie claims that rapping alongside people from Baton Rouge shows off his autistic skills in the best way.

From September 1, 2020 - September 15, 2020, Frankie flew to Baton Rouge, LA to begin recording the tracks for Autistic Stoner Rap, Vol. 1: A Trip To B.R..  For this album, Frankie will be shining the light on collaborating with various producers & artists from Baton Rouge, including DJ B Real, Dolla Bill Da Last Man, EQ Tha Misfit & Q-Red On The Track, to name a few; Frankie will also be producing a few of his own productions, as well.

On September 14, 2020, DJ B Real made Frankie a beat; it would later be used for the album's 2nd single called "I'm Edibled Up".  Frankie wrote his lyrics to the track, as the beat was being made.  The song came as an idea of Frankie's on July 31, 2020, at 5:09 p.m.; Frankie had won $2,851.00 at the casino, that afternoon & felt that he could use the money to invest in music collaborations.  The song is about Frankie embracing the highs he would feel, while under the influence of edibles.  Despite having the beat during his trip, recording didn't take place in time & Frankie wasn't sure when he'd be back in Baton Rouge, due to his previous full-time job ending.  The following month, after complaining to DJ B Real about there being a lack of weed at his studio sessions, DJ B Real hooked Frankie up with Pro Tools; Frankie would be able to record from PA & transfer session data to Baton Rouge.  Frankie can take his time with his recordings, as well as get high for them, whenever he wanted to.

On January 20, 2021, in honor of Doe-Doe's 39th birthday, Frankie layed down his vocals for "I'm Edibled Up", while under the influence of 30 mg of edibles.  Frankie even took a stab at creating a vocal-chop & beat drop for the track, fusing EDM styles & Baton Rouge music together to stand out.  The song, itself, was finally completed on February 9, 2021 & the music video was shot by Koo Shot Ya, in Baton Rouge, that same day.  "I'm Edibled Up" was Frankie's first release on digital platforms, on February 22, 2021; the music video was released just three days later, on February 25, 2021.

Reactions to the song & video have been successful; fans & Baton Rouge rappers called Frankie the "White Nu$$ie".  The music video made its way into rotation on Baton Rouge TV, on March 5, 2021, courtesy of Greg Dukes & his Greg Dukes Video Mixtape show.  The music video also aired on an episode of MaddGame Entertainment's Friday Night Flows show, courtesy of MGE Network.  In total, Frankie has released all 19 of 19 videos from Autistic Stoner Rap, Vol. 1: A Trip to B.R., creating a visual for every track.

Autistic Stoner Rap, Vol. 1: A Trip To B.R. was released on April 20, 2021, in honor of 4/20.  Frankie's goal is to be a success generator & hopes that the success can make Frankie continuously stay active, musically; he hopes to add more Autistic Stoner Rap volumes to his album series.
