Review #1,742: King Kezzy "Blast From The Past: Tha EP"

Reviewed on 8.07.2017 (Review #1,742)

Keepin’ these reviewz comin’, I’m hopin’ to hop back into my old CD reviewz afta this… This one’s King Kezzy, outta Shreveport, with Blast From The Past: Tha EP, released on Crown Gang Music Group. This CD’s cover and theme has a Back To The Future theme to it… Start Time: 7:23 PM | End Time: 7:40 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Tha Delinquent (Intro)”
>>> A Back To The Future intro, here… Hearin’ you rap right afta and it sounds nice… I’m diggin’ how tha beat’s kinda hypnotic like as if it was a time warp or somethin’… Nice job, Kezzy; keep it goin’… My Rating: 4.0

02. “That’s How I’m Comin’” feat. Yung Milz
Only one “M” for tha “Comin’”, right? >>> More of tha Back To The Future intros, here… Kinda likin’ tha hyped-up beat intro/beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; can’t complain… It sounds a lil’ Internet-undaground, which can be good; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha energy’s here; definitely nice… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ like some good shit from tha undaground… If this was 10 years ago, I’d be like, “OMG, just diggin’ tha undaground vibes, here; can’t wait ta talk to dem!” Now, I’m a lil’ more laidback but best-believe I can’t wait to connect wit err-body! Only thang iz, I mainly be in BR… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice, too; consistent energy at its finest… My Rating: 4.2

½time: Only two tracks for tha ½time, so far, with a 4.1-rated CD; dope…

03. “Words From Kusanagi”
>>> It’s 21 seconds of a Back To The Future intro and now, a hot lil’ beat to rap on… Hearin’ you rap and I’m diggin’ tha hustle wit tha “stash in they sock;” good shit… Not too bad, overall, wit how you sound on this… Honestly, it sounds like a touch betta than tha average, mainstream-soundin’ rap shit out these dayz… My Rating: 3.7

04. “You Deserve Dat” feat. King Squigg, PA Tha Villain & Yung Milz
>>> Keepin’ these intros comin’… A five-minute track, here, with all these features; let’s see how this gon turn out… Tha beat sounds a lil’ laidback, here; how will this go? Hearin’ tha hook and it’s decent; just an average song, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice ta hear, I guess? Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ okay; nothin’ really ta say, here… And, tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ a lil’ betta wit tha “pit” and tha “snakes;” not bad… Keepin’ it movin’ with a 4th verse, here; not too bad… Prolly too many people on this track; seems a lil’ too long fa me, overall… If I wanted it to be long, there had to be a bunch of standout moments, instead of just decent moments… My Rating: 3.2

05. “Strap Out” feat. King Squigg
>>> Endin’ it with anotha intro from tha movie, here… After 48 seconds, here comes tha track… Not too anticipated fa this lower-quality audio… Tha 1st verse just decent; nothin’ ta say… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s tryna be catchy but it ehh… Tha 2nd verse woulda been nice if tha beat woulda been a jigg/faster-soundin’ beat with betta quality in tha audio… As far as this, it just goes in an ear and out tha otha… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ like anotha decent verse; nothin’ much ta say… Tha audio quality just annoys me, here; coulda been betta… And, an outro from Back To The FutureMy Rating: 2.7

Overall: Thought it was off to a good start and then, tha quality kinda slipped… Either way, nice job, overall; keep it movin’…

01. “Born In A Drought”
>>> I’m diggin’ this beat start, right chea… Hearin’ tha beat and it reminds me of some dope-soundin’ shit from tha late ‘90s/early ‘00s! Dope shit; great start! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty dope, just like this cover! Donkey Kong on it, math on it; ya gotta win! Dope lil’ rhymes from tha 318, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope, too! “Born In A Drought”, just like tha title! Notice how many times I done said, “Dope,” in this song review, alone! Six times!! That says somethin’! Catchy-ass shit! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you got ya hustle on lock, here; definitely nice! I know it took me almost three months ta peep this shit out but at least I ain’t forget! My Rating: 4.7

02. “Really ‘Bout My Bizness” feat. Webbie
>>> Tha hook’s nice, as well as tha hook; definitely nice! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear… Tell me Webbie only says, “I’m tha dopeman, holla at me…,” right? I knew it; bleh… Either way, at least this mainly you; tha focus iz you! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds nice fa tha undaground! You don’t need a mainstream artist on your features! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Complicated Situations”
>>> A decent start; decent-soundin’ 1st verse, here… Tha hook sounds catchy, in such a chill way… Like, I love how you sound so chill on it, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, too; good shit… My Rating: 3.8

½time: A 4.3-rated CD, so far; good shit… Most definitely, you gotta keep it goin’!

04. “Talkin’ Shit (Interlude)”
>>> Beat sounds nice… Sounds like a decent verse, here… Really, it’s just rap; that’s all I’ll consider it as… My Rating: 3.3

05. “Jewish Lawyers” feat. King Squigg
>>> Sounds like a simple, southern beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like some good, catchy rhymes… More on tha real-life tip, here, which sounds a lil’ more upbeat than boring ta me… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and tha King Squigg dude sounds nice a lil’ deep-voiced, here… My Rating: 3.4

06. “Playin’ With Tha Scope” feat. King Squigg
>>> Nice, upbeat beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty dope wit how you comin’ through wit tha gangsta shit; good shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice ta enjoy, here… Definitely feelin’ tha energy in tha beat and how you come through wit it… I prolly would enjoy this a lil’ more if you had a lil’ more energy in your delivery, tho… As I’m writin’ this, I’m hearin’ a lil’ bit of a G-Funk-soundin’ beat sound on tha 2nd hook; definitely nice! Now, that’s an energy boost ta me! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you keepin’ this hot shit comin’; definitely nice! And, at 2:21, outta nowhere, here comes Squigg… Definitely sounds like a great addition to tha track; glad he on this bitch! He has more energy than you on tha track; nicely delivered! Hearin’ you on tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice, too; sounds like you had a slight energy boost, at least… Nice, long fade-out, too… My Rating: 4.4

07. “Preview Of Tha 4th
A bonus song… >>> Tha 1st 10 seconds ain’t even match what this sounds like… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s good, I guess? Sounds like a bunch of shit blended together? Sounds good; I just don’t get why there’s so many blended parts? Sounds like one song and then, anotha song, so many times…? My Rating: 3.7

Overall: Not too bad, overall; a few jointz stood out more than awesome jointz, which was nice…
