Review #1,886: Mo B. Dick "Gangsta Harmony"

Reviewed on 12.20.2019 (Review #1,886)

Anotha R&B CD up next, in my marathon: Mo B. Dick Gangsta Harmony, released in 1999 on No Limit Records & Priority Records; leggo. Start Time: 10:59 PM | End Time: 11:25 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Picture U & Me”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Nice intro, straight to tha car… This sounds like an okay lil’ R&B track. If I don’t rate these too high, it’s due to it’s not music I fuck wit that much… My Rating: 2.6

02. Station Identification (Claude Achille)
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Tha “Dick U Down FM,” here; nice… My Rating: N/A

03. “Intercourse”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Feelin’ tha whole “porn star” vibe; good job wit tha slow-ass beat & vibe… Oh, tha “Intercourse” cumin’ out at 2:05; nuts! Even tha beat changed up; sounds good… I’m likin’ tha “continue” vibe… Tha chick’s orgasm’s pretty hot, too; “ooh!” My Rating: 4.0

04. “U Got That Fire”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Sounds good fa anotha laidback vibe fa these ladies… My Rating: 2.8

05. “Got 2 Git Me” feat. KLC
Producer: Mo B. Dick & KLC
>>> Decent vibe; KLC got a good lil’ rap on this, doin’ his thang… My Rating: 3.0

06. “Mo B’s Theme” feat. KLC
Producer: KLC
>>> This one ain’t bad; okay combo between tha rappin’ & tha singin’… My Rating: 3.1

07. “Part III” feat. Magic, Mia X & C-Murder
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Nice 1st verse from Magic, here; great how he hypes ‘em up! Mia & C do a nice job right afta your singin’ part; good shit… My Rating: 3.6

08. “Twerk Some’m” feat. Sons Of Funk
Producer: Mo B. Dick & Dez
>>> This one aight; nothin’ ta really say about it… Y’all bringin’ out da twerkerz, tho it’s more on a regular-soundin’ vibe, as far as tha pace… My Rating: 2.7

09. “U Fell In Love Wit A Gangster”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Really slow & draggin’; 6:03 on tha length? My Rating: 2.2

½time: A 3.0-rated CD, so far; not my cup of tea, since I prefer more tha rappin’…

10. “What’s On Your Mind” feat. Silkk The Shocker
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> An intro in tha beginning that’s aight, here… Silkk kicks this off & it sounds like a good vibe… Your singin’ parts are aight, as well; blends in fine fa me… My Rating: 3.2

11. “Shoot’m Up Movies”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Likin’ all tha “bruh” parts in tha beginning wit this skit…! Nice movie skit in tha beginning & now, a really slow vibe… Not really up my alley; not sure what to rate this… My Rating: 2.0

12. “Smoke My Life Away”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> I really like this beat intro a lot! Sounds like a nice lil’ mysterious track…! Wonder what’ll come outta this? Hearin’ tha hook and it’s dope; definitely feelin’ what you singin’ ‘bout wit tha “shmoke,” here! Still, I’d only “shmoke” a “life away” if you’re waiting for tha right change in life. Otherwise, I’d rather just “shmoke” fa tha good times! Either way, not too bad of a track; I’ll make it my top pick, most-likely… My Rating: 4.2

13. “It’s Alright”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Sounds like anotha movie with tha spoken word parts, randomly… Sounds like an okay track; don’t have much ta say about this R&B vibe… My Rating: 2.4

14. “I Want, I Need” feat. Mac
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Mac sounds good on tha feature, here… Hearin’ your singin’ parts & they’re ehh…; not up my alley, once again, tho they’re not bad. My Rating: 2.9

15. “I’d B A Fool” feat. Sons Of Funk & Fiend
Producer: Sons Of Funk
>>> Tha SoF sound nice & laidback on tha beat, as well as Fiend’s verse… Tha rest of this kinda drags wit you on tha singin’; not too bad, tho long… My Rating: 2.5

16. “As The Ghetto Turns” feat. Dodio
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Slow & boring fa me, even if it’s only 2:49… My Rating: 1.8

17. “Could It B?” feat. Anita T & Ms. Peaches
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Sounds like a remake or somethin’ on tha hook, here… Not really that great fa me; sappy & slow… My Rating: 1.9

18. “Leave Her Alone” Feat. Big Ed, Lil’ Gotti, Mr. Serv-On & O’Dell
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Tha rappin’ on this track aight; tha slow singin’ on tha hook ain’t too bad, as well… My Rating: 3.3

Overall: I do like you as a producer & what you contribute to hooks. As far as singin’ a whole CD, it kinda weakens tha ratings & what I think of you, statistically. I’ono about whole songs; I think just hooks & beats are fine witchu. Either way, props for your lineup of people…

Review #1,025: Master P "Ghetto D"

Reviewed on 7.10.2011 (Review #1,025)

LOL, I’m up to one of tha most mainstream albums of my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon: Master P “Ghetto D! LOL, when I first was preparin’ for tha marathon, I was thinkin’, “what tha hell my reaction gon be to a pop song like ‘Make ‘Em Say Ugh’?” Then again, Louisiana iz all ova my veins, and although it was Pop, you know it has dat good-ass vibe fa tha older dayz, ya feel me?! Also, I think this iz tha longest CD (excludin’ double discs) I’ve reviewed in this marathon, currently; its length iz 1:19:29. Start Time: 11:02 AM | End Time: 11:47 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. 01. “Ghetto D” Feat. C-Murder & Silkk The Shocker
Not too sure how familiar I am wit some of these songs; lemme see what I recognize and what’s unheard for me… >>> Sounds like an intro for tha beginning; good shit… For a mainstream album, this iz somethin’ serious; real glad it got buku success! Rhymes are consistent, here; feelin’ how err-body comin’ through on this fa tha streetz! Oh, “ghetto dope”? For some reason, I could neva figure out what tha “D” was ‘til now; good shit! My Rating: 4.5

02. “Let’s Get ‘Em” Feat. Mystikal & Silkk The Shocker
“Let’s” hear this. >>> Anotha one wit an intro—this one’s more like a song… Just as serious of an attitude as tha previous song; you really goin’ off, here, P! Whoa!! Mystikal, lol!! Just always crazy on tha mic!! Such craziness he brought to tha table ta where Silkk’s even goin’ off, too!! Whoo!! Surprisingly, this turned out betta; I knew by tha energy, this would definitely be somethin’ serious!! My Rating: 4.7

03. “I Miss My Homies” Feat. Pimp C & Silkk The Shocker
I guess they only remember you from ’97? I remember seein’ this on TV, too… >>> Typically, not my kinda song. But, wit this real, Southern vibe, this iz a lil’ betta than everyone else’s sad songs. Delivery’s pretty good fa a vibe like this as well as tha lyrics, too… LOL @ Pimp C, instantly startin’ off wit “smokin’ weed;” we all know he crazy! Silkk has some good shit ta offer, too, but I thought dat Pimp C sounded tha best, and even fit for my liking, for this song. My Rating: 4.1

04. “We Riders” Feat. Mac
This looks like a good song; you know I like a ridin’ song as well as a collaboration like this! >>> Likin’ tha start wit tha beat and so does tha hook! Tha 1st verse iz pretty nice, too; really holdin’ it down fa every “ghetto” to tha fullest! Good shit, P; two consistent verses from you, here! Mac sounds good, too; consistent rhymes and showin’ No Limit buku luv! My Rating: 4.4

05. “Throw ‘Em Up” Feat. Kane & Abel
Looks like anotha hot collab!! >>> I’m feelin’ this vibe, too; you really know how ta make anthems fa every “soulja” out there! You may sound pretty good wit dis shit but when it’s tha betta-soundin’ delivery, lyrics, and more, I’m lookin’ up ta Kane & Abel, here; really likin’ how they comin’ through on tha 3rd verse! Thumbs up fa tha content, here; everything tha streetz need ta have ta survive! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Tryin’ 2 Do Something” Feat. Fiend & Mac
Looks like anotha good collab, lol! >>> Mysterious singer on tha hook, again? Not all-that crazy about this but tha production has a lil’ bit of dat G-Funk hidden inside of it… Rhymes sound consistent wit tha lyrics and voices, stayin’ continuous! My Rating: 4.2

07. “Plan B” Feat. Mia X
Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ X on this. >>> This iz betta production and tha hook sounds tight wit this whole “backup plan” / “Plan B” theme! Great subject, here, P! Hangin’ out wit err-body, P? LOL, it’s all luv everywhere! Feelin’ how Mia’s comin’ through on tha 2nd verse; consistent shit for tha bitches and for those that act like bitches, too, lol! My Rating: 4.4

08. “Weed & Money” Feat. Silkk The Shocker
Looks like this gon be somethin’ serious ta fuck wit! >>> Intro gets me antsy, lol! LOL, tha hook’s really official, here; you know I fuck wit tha “weed” content to tha max! Tha beat’s pretty consistent, here, too! You really got tha streetz on lock, here, P! Feelin’ how Silkk’s comin’ through on this shit, too; great flow wit some rich-feelin’ lyrics, too, lol! Feelin’ tha fade-out, too, ya dig? My Rating: 4.6

09. “Captain Kirk” Feat. Fiend, Silkk The Shocker & Mystikal
Looks like a mega collab—Mystikal!! >>> Nice beat, here; anotha one of those hot-soundin’ productions from tha 504 people! Ooh, consistent/rapid rappin’ from you, here, on tha 1st verse! Also, a good combo wit Fiend, too, helpin’ you out! Tha hook sounds good; I dunno what else I can say ‘bout dis hook… Tha 2nd verse iz soundin’ good from Silkk, here; nice rhymes… Of course, tha 3rd verse had ta be tha golden Mystikal!!! Good anger, here, and lol @ mixin’ it wit “smokin’ my weed;” he’s a God!!! LOL, tongue twisters goin’ on wit Mystikal? Gotta luv him!! I thought there would be a 4th verse but it’s a long outro wit a chick on it, which makes tha title more interestin’… My Rating: 4.6

½time: A 4.4-rated CD, currently!!!! Even though your most-mainstream CD, seems like it was a great time ‘cause nothin’ sounds too commercial or decent!!

10. “Stop Hatin’” Feat. Fiend & Silkk The Shocker
Let’s see how we gon start tha 2nd ½… >>> Ooh, really likin’ tha game-soundin’ production; nice hook, includin’ how it sounds!! Feelin’ your hood rhymes, P; glad you always holdin’ shit down to tha fullest! Tha 2nd verse has a cool flow goin’ on, here… Oh, now, it’s tha Fiend-soundin’ flow, too; nice combo, includin’ tha kick-ass content fa tha hood! How will Silkk do on tha 3rd verse? Started off decent but tha rhymes are consistent, so I gotta fuck wit it! LOL, lots of shit goin’ on wit tha outro between some singin’, talkin’, and tha continuous beat! My Rating: 4.5

11. “Eyes On Your Enemies” Feat. Silkk The Shocker
Tight title; I should look forward ta dis! >>> Speakin’ of an “enemies” title and a ‘90s feel, it’s almost givin’ me a Tupac feel wit how tha production sounds, in a stripped-down way. However, nice intro/hook wit tha announcer chick! LOL, owl in tha beginning of tha 1st verse? Too bad you don’t hear shit like dat these dayz, randomly. :( “Polo down wit tha matchin’ socks;” ’97 style? That’s what’s up! SMH @ all these people tryna put “Polo” in their songs, now; they act like it’s new or somethin’. Ooh, a “reaper,” too? Nice sound effects!! Tha hook’s pretty serious, too! Silkk has some good rhymes ta offer wit some background sounds/vocals, too! LOL, you keepin’ some mo shit comin’ on tha 3rd verse, P; not bad/good, ya feel me? Nice sound effects on tha end, too! My Rating: 4.6

12. “Make ‘Em Say Ugh” Feat. Fiend, Silkk The Shocker, Mia X & Mystikal
Tha moment’s here, lol! I feel more excited than weird, July 10, 2011 style!! I hate how no one in tha mainstream knows who tha features are; what’s so hard about sourcin’ features? I can remember easily! This iz one reason I would hate (sometimes) for a song wit a lot of features to go Pop; they wouldn’t source anyone. :( About “gettin’ up,” it’s funny how this song became a mainstream hit and so huge! Gotta luv tha energy throughout tha whole track and when everyone switches up throughout each verse, I think that’s somethin’ special; it keeps tha song interestin’, especially wit all tha different rhymes!! Of course, Mystikal’s 100% crazy!!!!! How perfect ta have him on tha track!! My Current Rating: 4.8 (lol)

13. “Going Through Somethangs” Feat. Big Ed & Mr. Serv-On
Ooh, a new compound word (“somethangs”); lookin’ forward ta hearin’ this wit a different collaboration from this CD, currently! >>> Started off immediately, and iz soundin’ good wit tha beat and tha continuous rhymes from you. Tha 2nd verse iz pretty serious wit this gangsta shit; really feelin’ it/keep it comin’!! Tha 3rd verse iz somethin’ good, too; thumbs up fa havin’ as many collaborations as possible! A long outro? Sounds good ta end wit a minute of talkin’ ‘bout street-type shit. My Rating: 4.3

14. “Only Time Will Tell” Feat. Mac
Anotha feature song, lol! >>> Sounds like a Pac theme; likin’ how this sounds wit tha hook and tha quiet/spooky vibe in tha beat! Glad you’re alive, P; you have such a platinum-plus status on you! Glad you’re keepin’ tha hood shit alive fa tha 1st verse! Likin’ tha 2nd verse, too; you got a good mind when detectin’ these streetz! Mac sounds good, too, on tha 3rd verse; glad everything was real back then! My Rating: 4.4

15. “After Dollars, No Cents” Feat. Silkk The Shocker
Looks good, too! >>> Anotha nice vibe; really likin’ tha beat and this theme/title! LOL, such a great delivery on tha hook and tha 1st verse! What a great voice you got at some times, P! I should’ve known Louisiana was tha best back in my early music taste dayz! Glad tha hook’s long and fulla kick-ass; not your typical eight-bar shit! Silkk sounds betta than usual on this, too; nice and consistent, here! Luvin’ tha content; can’t get enough of this!! My Rating: 4.6

16. “Gangstas Need Love” Feat. Silkk The Shocker
This looks interestin’. >>> Damn, a lil’ bit of a deal-breaker, here; didn’t expect a “Missing You”-soundin’ beat and hook? I guess this qualifies for tha 4.0+ rating, though, ‘cause this iz good times, tha rhymes are good, and how you and Silkk come through! My Rating: 4.0

17. “Pass Me Da Green”
No features, lol? Tight title so let’s see how you gon do by yourself! >>> Really likin’ tha beginning! Tha beat iz sooooooooooooooooo fulla kick-ass!!! Have I heard this before? Sounds a lil’ familiar but yea, what a nice hook!!! Puts me in such a great, weed-allowed zone, lol!! Even some chokin’ in tha background, lol? I’m somewhat-glad somethin’ beat “Make ‘Em Say Ugh” on this CD; thought it wouldn’t happen but somethin’ like dis does it! “Green got me hungry;” great line, although I’m tha type, in any “green” situation—such as money, that feels dat good things come ta those who wait! Pure greatness wit tha “weed” rhymes and everything you luv sayin’ in this song; I’m really luvin’ it, ya heard me?! My Rating: 4.9

18. “Come And Get Some” Feat. C-Murder & Prime Suspects
Looks like a tight collab! Let’s see how we gon follow up from dat “Green” joint!! >>> Yes, a kick-ass beat, once again!! Tha hook’s a lil’ familiar and tight as fuck, too!! Whoa!! You got shit goin’ on in tha 1st verse, here; really luvin’ this CD, all of a sudden!! Damn, I didn’t realize this joint’s only 2:31; it’s so tight and everything dat’s tight fits in perfectly!! Nice job wit this 2nd verse; what crazy-ass rhymes and content goin’ on, here!! C-Murder a beast and now, I’m hearin’ tha gutta-soundin’ rhymes from Prime Suspects, too; good collab!! Thumbs up fa this collaboration and anotha hot-soundin’ song wit kick-ass content fa tha hood and Gs!!! My Rating: 4.8

19. “Burbons And Lacs” Feat. Silkk The Shocker & Lil’ Gotti
Wonder who Lil’ Gotti iz…; how we gon end this? >>> A smooth-soundin’ joint but sounds like a good ridin’ song! You’re on tha 1st verse and I’m likin’ your “-ain”-soundin’ ending syllable rhymes!! Good-soundin’ shit you brought to tha table, here, P! Whoa, Silkk’s soundin’ nice on tha 2nd verse! A betta-soundin’ verse from you; great lyrics fa tha streetz and tha kick-ass shit!! Lil’ Gotti must be on tha 3rd verse, here; feelin’ how he sounds on this shit! Once again, anotha good-soundin’ verse! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: Wow, what a great CD!!! I think this iz one of tha best mainstream CDs that I’ve heard!! Tha content was fulla pureness, tha features were all called for, tha production was dat tight shit; what a great way ta help Louisiana out in tha ‘90s!! I think this CD’s why there were so many CDs dat came out in Louisiana between now and 2000ish!
