Review #1,675: Ghetto Twiinz "No Pain, No Gain"

Reviewed on 3.11.2017 (Review #1,675)

Happy 45th day in a row of reviewin’ CDs!! Let’s keep it goin’: Ghetto Twiinz No Pain, No Gain, released in 1998 on Rap-A-Lot Records & Upper Level Records… Start Time: 1:44 AM | End Time: 2:57 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. War (Intro)
>>> Nice beat, here; great lil’ intro wit a beat! My Rating: N/A

02. “Soldier Song” feat. DMG & Yukmouth
>>> Sounds like a decent beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds a lil’ betta than tha previous Ghetto Twiinz CD I reviewed… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds like a good “soldier” anthem, but for tha females… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ decent, here, and we have a dude on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, soundin’ decent… And, tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ pretty decent, here, as well… My Rating: 3.7

03. “Die “MF” Die” feat. 007
>>> Sounds like anotha decent track, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice; can’t say too much… And, tha 2nd verse sounds decent, too, here… Tha rest ain’t too bad, here… Just so you know, I’m expectin’ this CD to not have 4.0’s, as well… My Rating: 3.7

04. “A Mil Don’t Make U Real” feat. C-Loc
>>> Sounds like C-Loc on tha 1st verse, here; no credit? Sounds betta than what I’d expect from y’all, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from y’all and it actually sounds a lil’ betta, here… And, even more Loc, here; random… Y’all sound betta on this than tha boring, draggin’ shit, despite this bein’ 4:31… My Rating: 3.9

05. “No Sunshine” feat. Scarface
>>> I have a feelin’ this gon drag; sounds pretty slow, here, especially wit 6:07 on tha length!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s aight from y’all… Hearin’ tha hook and I expected this to be tha remake I’d expect it to be; whatevz… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, here… And, Scarface makes a nice appearance on this, at least… My Rating: 3.3

06. “No Pain, No Gain” feat. Mia X
>>> This sounds decent, here; not bad… Anotha long one that I’m tryna get through… Hearin’ tha hook and I’m kinda diggin’ tha singin’, here… Tha short lil’ 2nd verse sounded nice & it was a different style fa y’all… My Rating: 3.6

07. “Smokin’ Love”
>>> I like tha G-Funk sound in tha beat… Decent-soundin’ hook, here; let’s see tha verses… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… Gotta dig tha “weed” content, here, but I should like it betta… Tha rest of this ain’t too bad, here… My Rating: 3.8

08. “Stop Playin’” feat. Tela
>>> Sounds decent from this Tela dude on tha 1st verse, here… He sounds a lil’ cocky, especially since we don’t know where he iz now, but it’s not bad wit this vibe… Hearin’ tha hook and there’s singin’, now; hmm… And, y’all on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ decent; can’t complain… A lil’ more of a grimy aspect on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ a tad better… And, tha 4th verse, here, keepin’ tha grimy vibes goin’… For a non-4.0 CD, so far, it sounds like y’all closer to tha 4.0’s than tha 3.0’s, here! My Rating: 3.8

½time: Sounds a lil’ betta than tha previous CD of y’alls I reviewed… A 3.7-rated CD, here; let’s keep it movin’…

09. “Got It On My Mind”
>>> Sounds decent, here; a good vibe but a mixed review from me… My Rating: 3.4

10. “You Don’t Wanna (Go To War)” feat. Lo-Life & Willie D
>>> A lil’ more upbeat, here, on tha 1st verse and beat, soundin’ decent… Hearin’ tha hook and it ain’t too bad, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice wit tha males, this time… And, y’all on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice; can’t say much… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 4th verse, too, soundin’ decent wit tha otha dude, here… My Rating: 3.6

11. “Gonna Be A Murda”
>>> An okay beat, here; an okay 1st verse wit a catchy flow, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds like an uncredited dude, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad, here, as well… My Rating: 3.5

12. “B’s Jack Too”
>>> Beat sounds a lil’ betta wit a funky vibe, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and y’all got some good shit on lock, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s on tha gangsta side, here, but my interest ain’t that high… I’ono, it must be a female rap thang or somethin’? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, here… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent, again… My Rating: 3.5

13. “‘Bout Dat Gangsta Gangsta” feat. 2-4 of The Snypaz & G Mone’ of A-G-2-A-Ke
>>> A nice lil’ hook fa a slow track, here… Hearin’ y’all on tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit y’all on tha 2nd verse, as well, soundin’ decent, here… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent from tha 1st dude, here… And, we got tha 4th verse, here, soundin’ decent, too… My Rating: 3.7

14. “Livin’ Ghetto” feat. Willie D
>>> Sounds like a slightly-eerie track, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice, I guess? Hearin’ y’all on tha 1st verse and it’s decent, as always… And, Willie D sounds like a good dude to collab wit, as far as this ‘90s shit; nice collab… Wow, this track’s long… (5:56?!) Hearin’ y’all on tha final verse and it’s not bad, here… My Rating: 3.6

15. “Responsibility (Remix)” feat. D. Shype
>>> Sounds a lil’ slow, here; I think tha original betta… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s ehh… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s y’all statin’ tha facts… Tha rest of this decent but nothin’ I’d go crazy about… I’m just starving!! My Rating: 3.2

16. “Small Time (Remix)” feat. Gotti of FWC
>>> Sounds decent, here; can’t complain about this collab… These long lengths are killin’ me this early in tha morning!! Tha last minute a skit/talkin’; really? My Rating: 3.4

17. Ms. Ghetto News/War (Outro)
>>> Nice outro wit tha gunshots/this “war,” just like how tha intro sounded! My Rating: N/A

Overall: Just anotha CD from y’all, here… I prolly like this a lil’ betta than tha In That Water CD…

01. “Sho No Love”
>>> Sounds nice with this intro and dark-soundin’ beat, here… Nice job wit tha rappin’; not gonna say much, here… My Rating: 3.8

02. “Play On Playa” feat. Mr. Slicc
>>> Sounds a lil’ funky with a dope hook and beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Mr. Slicc, here, holdin’ it down… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from y’all and it’s decent, here… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, as well… My Rating: 3.9

03. “Take N Money”
>>> Decent beat wit a decent-soundin’ 1st verse, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, too, soundin’ aight… My bad if I’m not in tha mood for this review… It bein’ a female CD and there bein’ snow outside with me goin’ to work, soon’s got me kinda throw’d off… My Rating: 3.5

04. “Gangsta Shit” feat. Ms. Trishell
>>> Slow-soundin’ beat wit a laidback southern vibe, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s not bad, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s decent, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ decent, as well… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent, too… My Rating: 3.6

05. “Yeagie Yah”
>>> Sounds like a catchy hook, here, wit an okay beat… Hearin’ y’all on tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice fa tha 5-0-4 south, here… And, hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds good… Almost sounds like a featured artist in tha background, at one random point… My Rating: 3.7

06. “Responsibility”
>>> A slow sound, here; I think this one gon drag… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s great wit y’all grimyselves, but my interest ain’t all tha way up there… Tha hook sounds pretty slow wit this singin’; not complainin’, tho, and it sounds decent… And, tha rest of this ain’t too bad; didn’t seem that long, after all… My Rating: 3.4

07. “In That Water” feat. K-Slimm, The Threat & Tre-8

09. “What A Way To Go”
>>> Sounds like anotha decent track; what else can I say? My Rating: 3.3

10. “Jealous Hoes”
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat, here, wit a catchy-soundin’ 1st verse, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty catchy, too, wit how y’all comin’ through wit these vocals, lol… And, tha 2nd verse sounds aight, too… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, too, soundin’ aight… My Rating: 3.6

11. “Hold Up!”
>>> A dry-soundin’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… Ugh! I don’t feel like reviewin’ this CD, anymore! Just wanna get goin’!! Tha hook ain’t bad; I’m sayin’ tha same shit, every time!! Tha rest of this sounds kinda catchy, but just drags… My Rating: 3.5

12. “Jump Jump!”
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat, but it’s mainly decent… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s decent; feelin’ tha verb, lol… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad; just regular-soundin’ ‘90s music, here… Tha rest of this iz straight, just so y’all know… My Rating: 3.8

15. “Bonus Track”
>>> I’m diggin’ this beginning of tha beat, here… Hearin’ an R&B-soundin’—neva mind, it’s “Responsibility”!! See #6 fa tha review!

Overall: This CD wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t in tha mood for it, at all… No 4.0’s!! Just regular-soundin’ females rappin’ wit above-average beats fa tha N.O., here…

01. “Drama Az Usual”
Mr. Hakeem on tha beat, here! >>> Sounds like a nice beat ta rap off of, for a solo effort! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s dope; can’t deny it! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s official! And yeah, perfect title fa my job! “Drama Az Usual!!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, here, keepin’ it goin’… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, and you’re keepin’ it on-n-poppin’ wit this jammin’ beat; nice! My Rating: 4.4

02. “Who’s Who?”
Ice Mike doin’ this track! >>> Sounds dope wit this beat, as well as how you’re comin’ through wit it on tha 1st verse! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice ta “escape!” I feel like I gotta do dat wit PA! That’s why, I’m reviewin’ these CDs like it’s nothin’, right now! Wanna move on with life, meaning that I don’t wanna have 600+ CDs to review on my back!! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good, here… We got tha 3rd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, of course… “Boulders!” “Alaska!” “Casper;” okay! Okay! My Rating: 4.3

03. “It Ain’t All Good (Remix)” feat. Precise
L. “Precise” Edwards! >>> Nice singin’ and production from Precise, here, on tha hook and track! Hearin’ you rap on tha 1st verse and tha rhymes are definitely off tha chain, here! “Venom like a cobra;” of course! Hearin’ tha hook and this shit’s nice! “Used to be my homie…;” I feel ya! I love how what you spittin’ about can reflect what I’m goin’ through, here; definitely dope! 07. “Ohh-Ohh” feat. Ghetto Twiinz
Courtesy of L. “Precise” Edwards! >>> Decent lil’ beat, here, soundin’ nice… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you have tha energy on lock, here… Tha hook has even more energy to it; nice! Review #1,626: Smoke "Where Ya Baby Daddy At?"

Reviewed on 2.04.2017 (Review #1,626)

So outta it, but I shall continue and stay motivated!! My next review in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon iz Smoke Where Ya Baby Daddy At?, released in 1997 on South Coast Music Group! This CD features Partners-N-Crime, T.L.T. of G.T.’z, Lil’ Cayenne, Ms. Ray, Mr. Rob G, Tre-8, B-Shype & Recon! Start Time: 4:09 PM | End Time: 5:03 PM

My best friend’s brother opened up to me on one of his 1st conversations with me: “Are you more of an ass man or a titties man?” Crazy… Definitely feelin’ tha vibe goin’ on, here, tho… My Rating: 4.2

09. “Recon & Master Smoke”

10. “Last Nite” feat. Lil’ Cayenne & Mr. Rob G
>>> Sounds like a catchy lil’ ‘90s tune from tha undaground, here… Nice job wit how there’s so much from “last nite!” Kinda sounds a lil’ like VL Mike in tha voice? Just sayin’… Great job wit tha verses, guys! Diggin’ these celebrity-like lyrics! Luv livin’ tha celeb life!! My Rating: 4.3

11. “U Know U Know Me” (Dee The Badd Azz feat. Ghetto Twiinz)
Dee The Badd Azz, here… >>> An outro, here? Nice lil’ beat but yeah, thanx for this… Oh, at 2:34, here comes tha Twiinz! Decent rappin’ ta end this thang off… Almost a fade-out at :40 remaining? My Rating: 3.6

12. “Smoke Ballin’” feat. Tre-8
Endin’ it wit a Tre-8 beat! >>> Beat’s definitely pure! Gotta be my favorite track off this CD? We shall see! Fa now, great hook, here! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and this shit’s pretty anthemic/energetic! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this shit’s definitely official, here! This a pure vibe fa tha late ‘90s/early ‘00s, fa me! 01. “What’cha Wanna Do?” feat. Prime & Lil’ Leroy
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ bounce-type beat; hook sounds good ta hear… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha rhymes are really consistent wit tha rhymin’! Definitely tight! Tha 2nd verse sounds good ta hear, but tha consistent rhymin’ ain’t like tha 1st verse until tha near-end of tha verse, tho… My Rating: 4.2

02. “Pimp’en The Scene” feat. B Shype
>>> I like this eerie-soundin’ beat; tha 1st verse’s decent… I’ono about this singin’, tho; gotta get used to it? Still, nice lil’ topic about tha “gangsta lean,” tho… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good, here… As far as tha 3rd verse, it ain’t bad, here… “I don’t know when my day gon come;” I feel tha same way, as far as fame and otha things… Who woulda thought I’d be, like, a celeb, at this point? My Rating: 3.7

03. “Hit Makers” feat. B Shype
>>> Beat sounds cool and jammin’, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it straight… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good… Tha 2nd verse decent ta hear, here; what else can I say? Nothin’ bad, tho nothin’ sparkin’, here… And, tha 3rd verse, here, sounds decent… My Rating: 3.6

04. “Raw” feat. Tre-8
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ hook wit this screwed hook about “bein’ raw,” straight from “down south;” nice… Hearin’ tha beat and it’s pretty nice/faster! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and there’s a lot goin’ on wit tha rappin’, here; dope… So many rhymes bein’ spit on tha 2nd verse, here!! Definitely A+!! Tre-8 was definitely a master at this undaground shit! So much to review from him and I can’t wait! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, too, even tho it stopped, outta nowhere? What a weak way to end a verse!! Only felt like seven bars or somethin’?? My Rating: 4.3

05. “N.O. Block Party” feat. DJ Jubilee
>>> Nice lil’ jammin’ beat, here, strictly ready fa an “N.O. block party!” Should be an excitin’ track, right chea…! Thought this went over nicely for a collab; great job! My Rating: 4.0

06. “Meet Me At The River” feat. Ghetto Twiinz
>>> Beat sounds nice ta hear wit these Twiinz on tha 1st verse, holdin’ it down… Tha hook’s pretty nice; definitely dope voice ta deliver it! Tha 2nd verse’s nice ta hear, here; good gangsta shit! Tha 3rd verse ain’t bad from these Ghetto Twiinz, once again… My Rating: 3.8

07. “Bad M.F.” feat. Prime
>>> Sounds like a good track, here; nice beat and decent hook… Tha 1st verse sounds good ta hear, here; nice job… Tha 2nd verse’s pretty dope, too… Good job wit tha rest of this, too… Tryna multi-task and do multiple things at once, so if I don’t write much, that’s why… My Rating: 3.9

½time: A 3.9-rated CD, so far; diggin’ it, even tho it on a decent level, fa me…

08. “Stole The Ye” feat. Dejon!
>>> Beat’s nice; tha 1st verse’s soundin’ good ta hear… Diggin’ how tha near-end of it sounds wit tha faster rappin’! Tha hook’s dope; ain’t realize what tha “Ye” was, at first, lol… Nice job wit tha 2nd verse, here, keepin’ it goin’… And, keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice, as well… My Rating: 4.1

09. “These Are Dayz”
>>> Sounds like a catchy hook fa this slow jam; “these are tha dayz of our life…” And, even tha 1st verse: “I’m just walkin’ by my oh-so-lonely self…;” I feel dat! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, here; good job… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice to hear about “climbin’ this mountain,” ya dig? My Rating: 3.9

10. “Finer Things In Life” feat. Bayou Boy & B Shype
>>> Beat’s nice and upbeat; hook ain’t bad, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice wit tha rhymes… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ like a good verse, too… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s good, as well; gotta keep it movin’! My Rating: 3.8

11. “Down South” feat. Tre-8
>>> Sounds like a dope beat, even tho it tha same as “Raw”? It’s 15 seconds longer, so, should I consider it a different track? Must be a different mix, like, a Booty Bass Mix, or somethin’? It’s, like, 128 BPM? Actually, it’s 134! I might like this betta than tha previous mix… My Rating: 4.4

12. “Get Your Money Right” feat. Mel & B Shype
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ slower track; decent hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and looka, “Me and my migos;” no “Versace” here, lol! This 16 years prior to ‘em! They were in they diapers, at tha time, lol! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too…; gotta feel what y’all comin’ through wit… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ good ta hear, as well… My Rating: 3.9

13. “Chopped Down” feat. B Shype
>>> Beat sounds nice wit this darker feel… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty catchy, choppin’ “down…” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s all about dat “stankin’,” ya dig? “We gon chop you up like boneless chicken;” ouch!! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice ta hear wit these consistent rhymes, too… And, good job wit tha ending verse, as well; dope shit! My Rating: 4.1

14. “La, La, La” feat. Dee & M. Jane of Set It Off
>>> Hook sounds nice wit this “la-la-la”in’; decent beat, too… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds decent wit this female… And, a female rappin’ on tha 2nd verse, here; decent… Ehh, anotha female verse fa tha 3rd verse? It’s aight… Finally, a male rapper on tha 4th verse, spittin’ some cool rhymes; diggin’ tha “shmokin’” shit… My Rating: 3.5

Overall: Not too bad of a release… It was good but nothin’ really jumped out at me, here, so most of it was on tha decent/above-average level…
