Review #1,209: Slim Chance "The Antidote"

Reviewed on 10.02.2012 (Review #1,209)

Finally gettin’ to tha other CD from Slim Chance called The Antidote. Start Time: 10:57 PM | End Time: 11:14 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

© 2012 CD Review (Review #1,209) reviewed on 10.02.2012 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Intro (DJ Dolby Devious)
>>> Oh, anotha intro wit rappin’ in it! Oh wait, that’s just Dolby D’s mixin’ of your songs? I see…; nice shit wit a great beat! My Rating: N/A

02. “Fumes”
! >>> Beat sounds like some mixtape material, on a serious note. Feelin’ how you’re comin’ through on tha mic wit these rhymes! That 2nd verse sounds great wit tha multiple rhymes and shit! Tha hook has a nice, independent “lane” you’re ridin’ in, wit these torchin’ “fumes;” feelin’ it! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Trying To Survive” Feat. Nebu
>>> Not really tha most anticipatin’-soundin’ start for tha beat and vocals, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds good wit tha voice, but I dunno about havin’ it this early in tha mixtape. Rhymes sound good, but tha song itself ain’t really for me… My Rating: 2.9

04. “Common Rose”
Why izn’t this song on tha back cover? Bad error, even though tha track #s on tha back cover are correct! >>> This sounds only okay for me; a lot of East Coast-y beats goin’ on, here? I thought I was in tha undaground of Louisiana, not in tha same boat as everyone else? Rhymes are also okay, too… My Rating: 3.2

05. “Farway”
Thought it said, “Faraway”, fa a sec… >>> Lyrics are soundin’ typical, once again, wit this hook… They get betta once tha verses come through, and tha beat’s a lil’ betta than before, too… Tha good thing about these jointz iz that they’re not, like, 4:20 – 5:20ish in length; now that would be a turn-off, and I know many rappers do that wit their so-called “mixtapes!” My Rating: 3.7

06. “Antidote”
>>> Sounds like a catchy song for tha title… A lil’ too much “Hannibal” shit goin’ on, here? Beat’s soundin’ catchy and tha rhymes aren’t too bad, either; you got your character on lock when it comes ta neva stoppin’ when it comes ta completin’ a mission. My Rating: 3.9

½time: So far, you’re off to a decent start, here; 1/3 of it’s below-average for me, so far, but you’ll keep it goin’, hopefully…? You’re at a 3.6 for tha CD rating, currently.

07. “Energy”
>>> Tha hook sounds good, but where’s your true “energy” in tha voice? This sounds like you’re bouncin’ to tha beat while you’re rhymin’, which izn’t enough… Rhymes sound good, but for a song itself, it could sound better… My Rating: 3.8

08. “Against All Odds”
>>> A better beat, here, even though this content ain’t usually tha best for me. However, it sounds good from your mouth. I like your real-life rhymes wit paranoia descriptions, here; keep “lookin’!” My Rating: 4.1

09. “I Just Throw My Money”
Yucky title! >>> What happened at 0:04? Anyway, didn’t know you liked dick in your mouth? SMFH! Skippin’ this immediately! Get that shit outta your mouth (a-tune = dick, don’t you know?)! My Rating: 1.0

10. “I Like (Early Morning)”
>>> Hook ain’t for me at all; nothin’ but mainstream, mainstream, mainstream shit! I have to say, I’ll give you props for randomly spittin’ tha most random shit, here, but this ain’t nothin’ for me, 2012 style. My Rating: 2.6

11. “Hands Of Time” Feat. Lady Kym
Good thing for tha back cover, this time, ‘cause it doesn’t confuse me wit tha way it’s listed in tha DatPiff tracklisting, lol! >>> Not too anticipatin’ of a start; izn’t this tha same Lady Kym words from tha previous review? Thought that sounded betta, 4.0 style? Tha other collaboration was much better; this sounds too depressing, and ain’t really catchin’ on for me wit this sad style, for a song. My Rating: 2.4

12. “Back Up On My Feet Again”
>>> Endin’ wit more of a decent song; still, tha elements of depression are here wit even bringin’ up tha thought of fallin’. Can’t really comment on this; at least you’re spittin’ from tha heart… My Rating: 2.8

Overall: Also took me 17 minutes to review. Anyway, tha other CD I reviewed was much betta than this! After hearin’ #9, that gave it away that this wouldn’t come close to that The Lost Tapes one, and I was right! But, keep grindin’…

01. “Intro”
>>> For rappin’ on tha intro, this ain’t too bad; I like your street shit and criticizin’ those that ain’t ‘bout their shit. My Rating: 4.0

02. “Callin’ Me” Feat. Distributer
>>> Distributer’s a girl? Nice voice! Great hook and smooth beat fa y’all ta rap on, here! Then again, I think it’s a dude on one of tha verses; good collaboration, either way. Great song for a “pussy wet” song, lol! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Don’t Make Dollars, Don’t Make Sense”
>>> Sounds like an okay anthem for money; beat sounds like a jam, and you got tha rhymes on lock, here, when it comes ta perseverance! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Blind Lead The Blind (Exposed)” Feat. Doogie
>>> I like tha hook, here, wit tha exposure! This iz another good collaboration, as tha verses are on lock, once again! Beat’s also interestin’ ta keep your interestin’ vibes on tha track continuin’! My Rating: 4.3

05. “By Myself” Feat. Young Hustla
Young Hustla tha producer? >>> Not sure, but this beat sounds pretty nice. Collaboration’s on point, once again, and you got a hook that goes all tha way live fa me! I do pretty much err-thang “by myself” ‘cause there’s no one that really participates for me, 24/7! My Rating: 4.1

06. “Fast Lane” Feat. Lady Kym
Just her on tha song? >>> Hook sounds good wit tha singin’ and street content from Kym. I hear a male in tha background? Guess this ID screwed me up, since it’s you featuring her! Thumbs up for holdin’ this down, y’all; all about spittin’ it for tha streetz and neva stoppin’! My Rating: 4.0

½time: So far, so good and consistent! 4.2 for tha CD rating, currently!!

07. “Fuck U” Feat. Distributer & Gabby
>>> Likin’ tha beat start… Thumbs up fa this middle finger hook! “Cancellin’ tha next episode;” this shit goes hard! Anotha nice collaboration from these people; keep tha anger goin’! My Rating: 4.3

08. “My Official High”
>>> Sounds like an okay song. Nothin’ really ta say about this “high” song; nothin’ really stands out, but it’s not bad. My Rating: 3.7

09. “Be From Round Here”
>>> Sounds good from that girl on tha hook wit you; iz she official or inserted? I dunno ‘cause she’s not in tha feature, so I don’t wanna think she’s inserted… Sounds like a decent song for tha streetz, includin’ those out-of-town idiots! My Rating: 3.8

10. “Dumb Way”
>>> More street shit from you, and tha hook sounds catchy. Gotta only do it “one way,” ya feel me? My Rating: 3.9

11. “Feel So Hood” Feat. JP
>>> A lil’ long on tha length, this time… Tha hook ain’t too bad for tha singin’; I dunno if excitement jumps outta me, but whateva… SMH @ all tha beat at tha end! I take points off fa dat! My Rating: 3.1

12. “But I Know”
>>> A lil’ long, too, but let’s see how this turns out… I like when tha title iz said in tha hook; verses are aight fa me… Some of tha lyrics are catchy, and you still don’t disappoint wit this rap shit… Anotha one wit a long silent ending? My Rating: 3.6

Overall: Nice job wit this tape fulla leftovers, Slim; good job! I got that other CD of yours to peep out; I finna do dat later today, but I may take a nap right after I eat some lunch, right quick.

Review #1,052: Slim Chance "2000hate (Hosted by C-Murder)"

Reviewed on 8.15.2011 (Review #1,052)

Up next, an artist dat found me on DatPiff and wanted me to review their music via DatPiff comments: Slim Chance 2000hate (Hosted by C-Murder)! BTW, wit tha title bein’ 2000hate, iz this mixtape from 2008, lol? Start Time: 11:36 PM | End Time: 12:11 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I already love it. © 2011 CD Review (Review #1,052) reviewed on 8.15.2011 by FrankieThaLuckyDog.

01. Intro / “Hustlin’”
>>> Must be ‘cause of “Dey Know” on tha beat, lol? Good intro from C-Murder, here, reppin’ for tha Rydn Heavy Records. Real glad C-Murder’s keepin’ this intro nice and long! Just listenin’ to him iz as good as smokin’/smellin’ a good-ass blunt, lol! Now, at 1:45, tha track’s startin’… Sounds like a pretty-serious song wit this “hustlin’” shit on tha hook and this beat (beat actually soundin’ original)! Feelin’ your rhymes; sounds like you luv tha streetz! Thumbs up fa stayin’ motivated, ya dig? My Rating: 4.2

02. “Money, Hoes, Cars”
LOL @ this title… >>> Volume’s a lil’ lower? Beat sounds serious—more serious than tha previous one! Too bad tha back cover was small/DatPiff made it blurry… Anyway, sounds like you’re comin’ through wit a shitload of consistent, street-type rhymes, here; really feelin’ what you bringin’ to tha table! Due to tha back cover bein’ small/blurry, I can’t tell who’s featured, unfortunately. But, nice job wit tha collaborations! C-Murder always comin’ through wit tha intros and outros! My Rating: 4.3

03. “Streets Made Me”
>>> Not bad on tha beat but you holdin’ down tha rhymes/content… Interestin’ shit you spittin’, here, “streets” style, lol. Ooh, I’m likin’ this hook 2x more than tha track! Tha beat got better and it sounds like you’re comin’ through wit some nice shit wit “tha streets!” Damn, talk about tight rhymes! Nice consistency, here; keep doin’ ya thang, bruh! My Rating: 4.4

04. “One Deep”
>>> Sounds like a pretty-nice hook wit this beat, too! Rhymes are good, here; sounds like you’re havin’ fun wit dis shit! Definitely likin’ tha “ridin’” content, which sounds great for your label name, too! Thumbs up ta who you’re collaboratin’ wit, too; must be great ta have people ta “ride” wit? Wonder how you have it happen so often? Luv you, C, fa doin’ a great job on tha outro, as always! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Same”
>>> Ooh, likin’ tha flow and how you sound on this tight beat durin’ tha hook; great start!! Rhymes sound great and how you be doin’ tha damn thang in these streetz! Damn, I wonder how you found out about me? Like, what CD was it? Was it on DatPiff? My Rating: 4.4

06. “Change Clothes”
“Cloths”? Not “clothes”? >>> It iz “clothes”… Sounds like some slightly-older Southern music wit your flow on tha hook; nice job! Tha rhymes ain’t too bad, here; hustlin’ style you bringin’ to tha table, once again. Nice job wit whoeva’s on tha feature, too; glad you fuck wit nothin’ but tha best! Yes, an outro from C, shoutin’ out “Slim” (Soulja, dat iz)! My Rating: 4.1

½time: Currently, a 4.3-rated CD; pretty good fa hearin’ you fa tha 1st time!!!

07. “Talk About Me”
>>> Sounds like a catchy intro/hook wit anotha hot-soundin’ beat! Pretty-catchy-soundin’ rhymes you got goin’ on, here, too. Definitely an interestin’ way you’re deliverin’ tha lyrics on this track, here; always somethin’ catchy ta listen to, which I give you props for! Nice job wit tha continuous shit, here, bruh! My Rating: 4.2

08. “Block That Move”
I like this title… >>> Sounds a lil’ different wit tha style; almost sounds like a complete East Coast-soundin’ song, between your voice, here, and tha beat. Even though I like Southern shit betta, this ain’t too bad, either. You know I like tha content and what you bring to tha table, as far as your lyrics! Nice collaboration and shout out ta C on tha end! My Rating: 3.8

09. “Pressure”
A shorter song… >>> Sounds like it could be a good song between tha beat intro and how you comin’ through fa those in tha streetz! Sounds like a lot of “hunger” in your voice, here; good shit! A female on tha hook? Sounds pretty-good; I’ll approve this… Sounds like a familiar rapper on tha 2nd verse? I know who this iz… (maybe Vicious? Big Mike? Prolly Vicious); nice job, though. My Rating: 4.0

10. “That’s What’s Up”
>>> I like how this sounds; A-list-type hook wit how you “lookin’”, “that’s what’s up” style, lol! Sounds like consistent-ass rappin’ goin’ on in tha 1st verse? Definitely feelin’ it! Thumbs up fa tha collaborations you be havin’, too; feels like a family wit tha fun y’all havin’ on tha tracks! Not really too crazy about dat last verse wit tha “swag” shit and all dat… My Rating: 4.1

11. “Fuccin’ On The Low”
>>> Not sure what to make outta tha beginning; I guess tha singin’ goes good, since it’s erotic. This ain’t too bad wit how you’re comin’ through wit it; not much I gon say, though… My Rating: 3.6

12. “Take It That Far” / Outro
Nice title for tha ending song! >>> Also, it sounds good wit tha hook and beat! Sounds like you’re comin’ through wit some catchy rhymes; not much ta say about ‘em, though… Damn, 2:39 on tha outro? :confused Oh, back to C, doin’ tha damn thang on tha outro! Damn, definitely gotta luv what C be sayin’; “go ‘head and fiya one up,” ya dig? Wish he could talk fa hours, lol! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: I thought you did a great job, especially for tha streetz and shit! Definitely a thumbs up fa gettin’ C ta host it and do tha damn thang; that’s a definite good look, especially to find me! Keep up tha great work wit what you do; you holdin’ thangz down!
