Review #1,751: The Greatest Rap Hits From Downsouth New Orleans "The Real New Orleans Compilation"

Reviewed on 8.09.2017 (Review #1,751)

For my next review in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, it’s a compilation… The Greatest Rap Hits From Downsouth New Orleans The Real New Orleans Compilation, released in 1998. Since it’s a compilation, I’m not 100% sure which songs I done heard or not heard, due to I been reviewin’ these old CDs fa tha past eight years. I’m not gonna go too in-depth wit tha review; it’ll be quick… Start Time: 7:17 PM | End Time: 7:43 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Reviewed on 10.02.2016 (Review #1,560)

I’m not really big about reviewin’ compilation CDs, but I decided ta keep this one in my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon. I worked 4 AM – 1:30 PM today and was knocked after yesterday! 05. Ricky B “Shake It Fo Ya Hood (Radio)”
See #1 fa tha review!

06. M.C. Spud “Creepin’”
>>> A bounce track, here, as Spud’s comin’ through wit his bounce vocals; can’t deny it! Tha hook’s catchy, as those “creepin’” “hoes” be gettin’ out there! My Rating: 4.0

07. M.C. Spud “Bust A Cap”
>>> I’m feelin’ this style a lot more; gangsta shit! Definitely a nice lil’ dark beat and how tha hook sounds pretty funky with this Cee-Lo-like voice! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and yeah, spit dat “gangsta” shit fa dem Gz! Definitely a nice lil’ jam on tha 2nd verse, here; luv when gangsta shit and somewhat-dancin’ shit combines! Nice job wit tha 3rd verse, too; definitely a nice jam! My Rating: 4.2

08. M.C. Spud “Darkside”
>>> Nice with tha “D-A-R-K-S-I-D-E!” Great job with tha hook and this beat ain’t too bad! It’s almost like a weird fusion of tha previous two Spud tracks… Nice job with tha rhymes, here; can’t deny how consistent they are! It’s all about flowin’ nicely fa tha hood, tha streetz, tha clubs, tha listeners & err-body in between err-thang!! My Rating: 4.1

½time: Nice lil’ CD with just Ricky B & M.C. Spud, so far… A 3.9-rated release; let’s keep it goin’!

09. Cheeky Blakk “Twerk Something”
I believe I might’ve heard a Part 2, but I’ono about an original version? >>> Nice chantin’ in tha beginning; all about that 3rd finger, just like I said at work, earlier today! Nice, jammin’ hook, here; bouncin’, bouncin’, bouncin’! Lol @ “ooka, booka!” Then, “smoke a lil’ weed-uh;” nice follow-up line, lol! Didn’t even seem like over six minutes long; props fa holdin’ it down! My Rating: 4.3

10. Cheeky Blakk “Smoke A Lil’ Weed”
>>> Feelin’ this bounce vibe, too; let’s see dem lyrics, lol… Hook’s definitely catchy; gotta luv a high Cheeky, lol! Rhymes ain’t too bad, here; definitely enjoyin’ dat hook! Tha vibe on this track’s definitely on-n-poppin’! I luv that we gon “hop like a frog,” LMAO! My Rating: 4.5

>>> Sounds okay with this dry beat… Diggin’ tha rhymes, tryna survive in this world… My Rating: 3.6

12. Hitman “Holla If You Hear Me”
A.K.A. The Everlasting Hitman! My Current Rating: 4.1

13. Hitman “Work That Back”
My Current Rating: 4.2

14. Final Approach “Dime Bag (Radio Version)”
>>> Intro sounds familiar; definitely a nice intro with this drug-type shit! Tha faster vibe in tha beat kicked in at :28! Such a jammin’, dance-rap vibe, almost, only it’s more rap-dance in tha beat and I’m lovin’ tha drug content! Tha 1st verse’s pretty jammin’; kick-ass lyrics and flow!! Definitely diggin’ tha hook; “dime bag”-tastic!! Luv how so many different wards/areas in tha Boot are shmokin’ “a fiya blunt!” I’ll put it this way: Cities!! Lol @ that imitation of that fiend, “Man, I got tha munchies!!” Diggin’ tha outro a lot!! “Where ya weed at, man?” My Rating: 4.7

15. Final Approach “Ganster Soldier”
Anotha track from them!! >>> Beat’s good, tho sometimes plain, at times… Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; gangstaz y’all are! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice wit how y’all keep tha rhymes comin’! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s keepin’ this track movin’; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

16. Lower Level Organization “Git Some”
Have heard an eight-minute “Get Some” with Dog House Posse, Lil’ Ruthless, M.C. Spud, Ruthless Juveniles & Teno G. However, this one’s only two minutes long. Will this just be with tha LLO? >>> Yeah, this still sounds nice! Great, consistent, rattlin’ rhymes, here! Tha Organization has it on lock!! My Rating: 4.8

Overall: Great job with this compilation, despite it only havin’ a few artists with multiple songs… Mobo Records has a lotta releases on my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon, includin’ tha Mobo Productions! Sure there’s more where that came from, comin’ up!!

01. Intro
>>> Nice and interestin’, here, wit tha ‘on-a-mission’-type shit! Sounds like some background rappin’ at 1:10, too! My Rating: N/A

02. “Gettin’ Blowed”
!! >>> Attention: Sounds like a tight anthem ta get “blowed” to, based off tha intro of this!! Sounds pretty nice wit tha hook and tha rhymes! “My nigga M.C. Spud;” someone else’s on tha 1st verse? I don’t see any features listed on Discogs… But yea, definitely can’t deny a “blowed” anthem!! Tha production definitely holds shit down!! My Rating: 4.7

03. “Hustlin’”
>>> A good-soundin’ song wit interestin’ production! “Dressed in all black”-type shit goin’ on, here! Yup, “high from last night,” due to tha previous song, lol! Tha hook sounds good; a lil’ dose of catchiness, here! Thumbs up ta havin’ some drivin’ lyrics, here, too: “I’m on dat I-10!” Street Playa Records did a nice job by pushin’ this CD!! My Rating: 4.5

04. “Paper Chasin’”
That’s right! >>> Sounds like dat good-ass ‘90s shit in tha beginning, here, wit tha beat! Tha hook sounds a lil’ catchier wit tha content; really afta tha “paper!” Really feelin’ tha rhymes dat are required ta get dat “paper,” ya dig? All about bravery but remember: gotta stay alert at all times!! People litter their evidence, here, at my grandma’s lawn; why leave shit on her lawn? She’s just gonna trace it! Good job completin’ yo mission, here, wit “chasin’” afta tha “paper!” My Rating: 4.5

05. “Title Stealers” Feat. Cheeky Blakk
What do we got here? >>> Must feature “Cheeky Blakk,” since you said her name in tha beginning? Ooh, she must be tha gurl dat sings, “get ya 9, get ya gloccccckkkkk!!;” sounds exactly like dat gurl!!! I’m likin’ tha “stealers” theme, here; no need fa me ta jack anyone, especially now! Tha world of Rap iz so wack and I’m glad ta come through, Frankie style, 100%!! Glad you’re holdin’ down all tha verses, keepin’ this “stealers” theme continuin’!! My Rating: 4.8

½time: You know, this shit’s definitely dat fiya!!! You really know what I luv when it comes ta this undaground Rap shit!! Keep tha rhymes comin’ fa tha streetz ‘cause it’s currently worth a 4.6 CD rating!!!!!!

06. “Sewed Up”
Looks interestin’… >>> Mo hot production, here, fa tha ’97, N.O.-type sound!! Good gangsta-soundin’ joint fa tha gangstaz, here! Hope you/y’all still alive!! My Rating: 4.5

07. “Buster Free”
Wonder what dis about; a pussy or a real dude? >>> Oh, I knew it was gonna be dedicated ta tha pussies; let’s see what y’all gon say… Really feelin’ tha flow; nice ‘n’ fast!! Wow! Really keepin’ this shit all tha way to tha max!!! Tha hook’s pretty nice and yes, true: tha fake wanna “roll wit [you];” seems like we can’t get tha fake away from us, smh? I like tha start to tha 2nd verse wit tha “weed” shit! Really comin’ through fa tha smokers, lol! Keepin’ this shit goin’ wit some good voices and some of tha realest shit fa tha Gs! My Rating: 4.8

08. “Runnin’ Game”
Definitely! Hope you had some nice success back in tha day!! >>> Tha vibe’s pretty good, here, as it’s really upbeat, once again! Tha rhymes are just as consistent as tha previous song, more dedicated ta tha “hoes,” here, still soundin’ like an A-graded test! Good job from all tha contributors, here!! My Rating: 4.6

09. “Dem Laws”
This definitely should be an interestin’ topic! >>> I’m likin’ tha intro wit tha great-soundin’ G-Funk sound in tha beginning of tha beat! Feelin’ tha paranoia, here; smh @ always “runnin’” from “tha cops.” Remember: Don’t make trouble public, or don’t leave evidence around! Really feelin’ how y’all deliver tha rhymes for tha “law” duckers, lol! My Rating: 4.7

10. “Down Too Long”
>>> Sounds like an outro or an outro track for tha beginning, here… Oh, it’s just a regular song, overall, that sounds great wit tha flow and tha continuous shit dat’s bein’ brought to tha table! Sounds like a representation fa err-body in tha 504 wit tha hook; good shit, includin’ for tha gangstaz, once again! Really likin’ tha 3rd verse, as dat gangsta shit’s comin’ through hard!! Speakin’ of “outro” from before, there’s a long outro from you and then, tha beat continues; pretty good, since I guess this length iz for those tryna finish their blunt or somethin’, lol? My Rating: 4.4

11. “Undertaker (Remix)”
Let’s hear dis! >>> Fusion of a ‘90s-soundin’ beat? Too bad fa all this paranoia, overall… Once again, I hope tha streetz didn’t catch up ta y’all! This iz anotha nicely-delivered joint fa tha undaground, Louisiana Rap fans like myself! LOL, I like tha quick ending, Bounce-vocal style, lol! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: You’re anotha one of them kick-ass rappers from tha N.O., ya dig?! Just comin’ through wit mo hot shit fa my ears!! Real glad this CD’s worth five stars from me!!!

01. Intro
Should be pretty grimy! >>> LOL, just an aight beat? My Rating: N/A

02. “Ace-Nitty”
Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ dis! >>> Fuck! This iz from tha “’94”? Damn… I should’ve done more research when I first got these CDs ‘cause tha mp3 info says, “1997,” smh…! This a nice, smooth-soundin’ joint fa tha gangstas; really feelin’ tha content and shit, ya dig? My Rating: 4.4

03. “Mobo Joe”
>>> Good Bounce vs. ‘90s vibe, here; sounds like a nice mix, combined… LOL @ tha title/hook; good sample… Feelin’ tha catchy rhymes throughout this; gotta keep tha gangsta-soundin’ content up! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Walking Threat” Feat. Lil’ Ruthless
>>> This sounds betta for me; feelin’ tha grimy beat start! Tha hook’s pretty nice for a sample, or whateva it iz! Tha 1st verse sounds like a gurl? Pretty gangsta wit this content! Huh? A “Lil’ Ruthless,” too? I know one in Thibodaux, 2009 – present style. Once tha dudes hit tha mic, this shit’s definitely on some pure-ass shit!! Definitely feelin’ tha consistency as well as tha kick-ass content of bein’ on tha streetz!! My Rating: 4.8

05. “Rain Killa”
>>> Anotha gutta-ass-soundin’ song! Content’s definitely 100% here as well as tha pretty nice beat, samples on tha hook, and tha vibe for tha streetz! My Rating: 4.6

06. “Clientel/Always N Power”
Damn, 9:20 on tha length? Iz this two songs? >>> Sounds like a promethazined-up vibe, lol; definitely inta tha slowness, here! Tha hook’s nice and so are tha rhymes, once again, wit this tight content and focused rhymin’!! LOL, a lil’ off-beat before tha “Always N Power” joint, which starts at 4:32? Odd, but you know this shit’s nice! As far as tha “Always N Power” side, feelin’ tha grindin’-type rhymes! Tha hook sounds entertainin’, here, wit this sample goin’ on! I like tha start to tha 2nd verse of this song wit tha “but tha white man won’t hire me;” good job wit tacklin’ tha under-ratedness of how certain white people not givin’ a fuck, sadly! Looks serious; you know I already liked tha album title! >>> Ooh, cricket sounds in tha beginning wit a pretty serious-soundin’ beat!! Review #530: M.C. Spud "Undertaker"

Reviewed on 6.16.2010 (Review #530)

From one MC to anotha! Here’s my 4th review for today: M.C. Spud “Undertaker! He was featured on tha last CD I reviewed (M.C. Spade “You Betta Reconize”) so I’m sure he’s got a lot ta say!! Start Time: 12:59 PM | End Time: 1:30 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.
