Review #1,892: Murder Dog Magazine Presents "Southern XXX-Posure"

Reviewed on 12.22.2019 (Review #1,892)

My next review just so happens to be a double-disc release! Gonna take about 2 ½ hours ta review this, so here I go: Murder Dog Magazine Presents Southern XXX-Posure, released in 1998 on Dogday Records!
Disc 1: Start Time: 6:34 AM | End Time: 7:06 AM
Disc 2: Start Time: 7:10 AM | End Time: 7:31 AM
Overall: Start Time: 6:34 AM | End Time: 7:31 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

Review #1,633: The Notorious Outlaw Jako James feat. The James Gang "Fully Automatic"

Reviewed on 2.07.2017 (Review #1,633)

Keepin’ it goin’ wit my next review: Outta Shreveport, it’s The Notorious Outlaw Jako James feat. The James Gang Fully Automatic, released in 1997 on Ponomo Records! Start Time: 1:52 AM | End Time: 2:46 AM

Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
J-Loc on tha beat! >>> Sounds good for this “news” story-like intro… My Rating: N/A

02. “I Can’t Be Touched” feat. Mac Hines & Sir Regg
J-Loc… >>> Sounds like a hot beat fa tha undaground, as well as tha hook, here! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like it’s official, here; good shit! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds pretty dope wit how it sounds; gotta feel it! And, tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ good, as well… A long beat outro, here; sounds dope to continue this long… My Rating: 4.4

03. “Don’t Knows” feat. Sir Regg
Kid Fresh on this beat… >>> Sounds like a lil’ funky, laidback track, here… I like how it’s your “Don’t Knows” instead of just a “Don’t Know”, here…; good hook! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, here, and y’all keepin’ this ‘movin’-life-forward’-type music comin’ along… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s pretty nice, as well; keepin’ it flowin’, here… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Jako II”
Dale Harris on tha beat! >>> Sounds laidback, here, on tha beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good… I was just about to say, it does sound a lil’ like “California,” here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s nice, as well… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and just like me, you’re doin’ a “review,” lol; good job… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s nice ta hear, too… My Rating: 4.1

05. “SDG” feat. Mac Hines & Sir Regg
Produced by Chessey Mac, Reginal “Maestro” Harper & Ron “Da Mac” Johnson! >>> Anotha nice, slow-soundin’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s all about bein’ in tha right “zone,” here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse, here, and we got them Shreveport ‘90s hood facts bein’ laid down, here; dope shit! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, here; good shit… We got tha 3rd verse, here, and it’s keepin’ it movin’… My Rating: 4.2

06. “Big Baller”
Polo on tha beat…! >>> Sounds good for this laidback vibe, here, on tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good wit this Shreveport nightlife goin’ on… We got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, and it’s an O.G.’s story of that southern life, here, fa tha ‘9-7! Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ good, just like tha rest of tha verses… My Rating: 4.2

½time: A good CD, here, even tho not too much sparkin’ out, in a major way… A 4.2-rated CD, here; let’s keep it movin’…!

07. “Ponomo Radio” feat. Ramona Brown
J-Loc beat, again! >>> Sounds good for a lil’ interlude… Like, where are you guys at, now? What’s tha deal wit tha music? My Rating: N/A

08. “My Enemy” feat. Mac Hines
J-Loc on da beat! >>> A catchy hook, here; can’t deny rappin’ about tha “enemy,” here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not bad, here… We got tha 2nd verse, here, about 3:00 in and it’s soundin’ decent, here; gotta keep it movin’… And, tha 3rd verse, here, feelin’ untouchableMy Rating: 4.2

09. “U Neva Know” feat. No Shame & Ramona Brown
Dale Lynch & Kid Fresh on tha beat! >>> Decent-soundin’ track, here, wit tha hook and beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ like a good verse… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it soundin’ good, here, as well… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here, and it’s soundin’ nice, as well… My Rating: 4.1

10. “Fully Automatic”
Polo beat! >>> A nice lil’ beat, here, as y’all kickin’ off tha 1st verse pretty nicely, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ dope wit tha multiple voices singin’… Gotta luv that it’s tha title track and about a “Fully Automatic!” We got tha 2nd verse comin’ along, here, and it’s soundin’ dope… Comin’ through wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ dope, as well… My Rating: 4.3

11. “Natural Born Killa (Remix)”
Goin’ wit a Dale Harris beat, here… >>> A Jamaican-type track, here, on tha vocals… Kinda catchy, but kinda bleh, on tha 1st verse… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s good, as always… And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ good… Tha rest of this ain’t bad, but at least it qualifies for a 4.0! My Rating: 4.0

12. Outro
J-Loc endin’ these interlude/intro/outro beats, here… >>> A nice beat and this sounds good, here… My Rating: N/A

Overall: Most of tha tracks I liked tha same, here, so tha CD flowed in a nice way… Great job wit tha rhymes and West Coast-soundin’ tracks, here…

Review #235: The Notorious Outlaw Jako James "Creepshow"

Reviewed on 6.10.2009 (Review #235)

FrankieThaLuckyDog iz back in tha buildin'! After a weekend at tha beach 2x, a somewhat hectic/outdoor busy week so far, I haven't had tha chance to shake back into my reviewz (and this marathon). Now, I'm back, hoping to get a lot done before my 21st birthday in 11 dayz! Now, here's tha next review in my marathon: Jako James "Creepshow"! Shout out to my boy Blu Black out there in Baton Rouge (as well as his boyz Beezy Bird, Lil' Mike, Dae~Dae, his gurl, his manager, Yung Yola, and err-body out there in G-Lane), as I'm rockin' blu pants and a black polo! Start Time: 11:37 AM | End Time: 12:38 PM

01. Creep Intro
Looks like this gon be a great CD wit tha title of this CD ("Creepshow")! Lookin' forward to some "creepy" beats that are dark and shit! >>> Sounds like a "creepy" start (no wonder why tha intro iz called "Creep Intro")!! Definitely a GREAT intro as it was REAL dark and scary; makes you wanna REALLY hear this CD!!! My Rating: N/A

02. "Don't Ever"
Sounds like you're in control wit this title; lookin' forward! >>> Intro's nice and long wit a somewhat West Coast style in this beat; nice job wit tha :37 intro. You did yo thang on tha 1st verse; great rhymes. Tha hook iz tha truth, and works well wit you. A lotta great "don't ever" thingz! Sounds like a real 2nd verse too; "your glock" ain't nothin' to be fucked wit! You held it down on this shit right chea! My Rating: 4.2

03. "Head Shots"
This should be ANOTHA great one, betta yet better!! >>> Sounds like tha last beat was a lil' better, but I hope a title like this one helps a lot! Short 1st verse, which was pretty good, and now, it's tha hook; soundin' good. Not bad on tha 2nd verse here, still "givin' head shots" on this shit. Sounds like you goin' raw on tha 3rd verse; "dumpin' on they ass!" Great job on that 3rd verse! Ooh, a 4th verse (it doesn't say who it iz). They sound like they have a West Coast voice, yet cool. I like that "tha dank will make yo breath smell" part. Nice job ending tha song wit this verse. My Rating: 3.9

04. "Natural Born Killa"
This should be a great song; nice titles on this CD!! >>> Tha last beat was betta than this one too... Great flow and voice on this song; great 1st verse, especially wit tha title! Good hook to get tha title buried inside yo head! I'm feelin' tha 2nd verse too; you doin' yo thang wit this shit! Oh, do I hear talkin' near tha 3:00 mark? There's at least a minute left... Iz it just gonna be talkin'? Cool talkin', although it kinda long... My Rating: 3.8

05. "Alief Gangsta"
What's that 1st word? This should be a good song too! >>> Better start here. Good song, good 1st verse. That hook iz interesting, especially that random background vocal goin' "alief gangstaaaa!" Good 2nd verse too; great "gangsta" style in your voice wit this shit. LOL @ tha music breakdown at 2:31; it sounds good. You did yo thang on tha 3rd verse too. Great rhymes in this shit too, as you spit that shit from you and yo hood. My Rating: 4.1

06. Something 2 Ride 2
Oh, I thought it was a song? Shiiiiid! Only 37 seconds long, so let's see; lookin' forward to a skit still!! >>> Decent, somewhat low quality (on tha speakers), but I like tha talkin'. My Rating: N/A

½time: This CD iz off to a good start. You have tha voice and tha rhymes, so that's watz good. Keep doin' yo thang if you still alive (hopefully)!

07. "Just-N-Case"
When tha skit ended, it sounded like a hot beat was comin' in at tha end; I may look forward to this, so let's see... >>> Slow start, West Coast style... Nice "swisha sweet" start in tha 1st verse here. Okay 1st verse, and okay hook here. Tha 2nd verse had a West Coast style in tha rappin', and was decent fa me. Sounds like "something 2 ride 2" (like tha skit name), lol. Ooh, someone else iz on tha 3rd verse here... Much betta, doin' tha damn thang wit how he spit/what he spit about; great job! Oh, there's a 2nd 1/2 wit you on tha 2nd 1/2 of tha 3rd verse this time... A lil' betta from your other 2 verses. Anotha somewhat long ending, but it'll do. My Rating: 3.5

08. Studio Break
Anotha "break" here... Let's see... >>> Sounds a lil' like J-Dirty (Down Bad's manager). This skit sounds betta than tha last one though; nice laughin' and conversation goin' on here. My Rating: N/A

09. "Nigga Name Jako"
Looks like a way to introduce yourself? Lemme see... >>> Oh, so your home iz tha "home of tha indo smoke?" That's cool fa you I guess. This beat also has a West Coast influence in it. Not bad on tha 1st verse, and tha 2nd verse starts off wit a "review;" lol, I'm doin' one right nah fa you, lol. Not bad on tha 2nd verse, and I heard an "alief gangsta" background vocal again in tha 2nd hook. Tha 3rd verse sounded a lil' betta wit that great rappin' voice of yours. Iz this gonna be a REAL long ending wit 1:30+ to an ending? Okay, at least at 4:50, it was like, "shiiiid," so thumbs up fa tha talkin' at tha end. My Rating: 3.3

10. "Mama"
Not sure what to say... >>> Tha intro was kinda not fa me, but tha West Coast type of beat kick-in helped, and your voice fa this iz at a peak fa you. Good 1st verse, and tha hook was good too. Tha 2nd verse iz soundin' good, keepin' your defense up! Tha 3rd verse iz good too, keepin' this shit goin' fast! Nice song here. My Rating: 3.9

11. "Shouts"
There are 2 jointz left, and we're at tha shout outs? Let's see what we got here fa 3:14 on shout outs... >>> Intermission: While listenin', my boy Beezy Bird hit me up just now; thumbs up! Oh yea, I had to rewind it (I only listened 15 seconds at first), and just realized it's a song; not shout outs! I'm likin' tha voice on whoeva's on tha 1st verse. Yea, I was wonderin' tha same thing (as you said): "I thought this was a shout out, nigga, why you spittin' lyrics?" LOL... Now, it went to shout outs, lol. Good shout outs, and although there was some rhymin' in tha beginning, I'll have to grade it, so it'll get a rating. My Rating: 3.8

12. "NBK (Screwed)"
Continuing wit tha actual songs, lol! >>> Real slow start here... Ooh, sounds like this song iz screwed. Nice screwed start, so that's a plus to it bein' slow. Oh, it's just a screwed version of "Natural Born Killa". I'll rate this one too 'cause it's screwed. This actually sounds SO MUCH BETTA than tha original 'cause it's nice and slow, especially wit those GRIMY vocals!! Even sounded like a murder at tha end, lol. My Rating: 4.4

13. "Bonus Track"
I thought it was gonna be anotha screwed track or a radio version to somethin' else... I wonder what this iz then...? >>> This iz prolly a radio version to somethin'... Neva mind, it's tha one that had a :37 intro... Well, I heard "dick," so it ain't a clean version. I just think it's tha same as #2, so I'm just gonna say: See #2 fa tha review!

Overall: This wasn't that bad of a CD... Great voice, I'm okay hearin' tha West Coast style in tha beats, and tha rhymes were good. I really liked tha screwed version of "Natural Born Killa"; hopefully, you had made more screwed songs like that.

Rankings (according to my ratings):

09. "Nigga Name Jako" 3.3
