R.I.P. Video #71: Ed West

Recorded April 26, 2020

Broadcasting from my closet, here in Northeast PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana hip-hop community.

Edward James West, Sr., known in tha music business as multiple names, like Edward J. West, Ed, Ed West, Mr. West or Big Ed, passed away from COVID-19 complications on Friday, April 3, 2020; he was only 51 years-old.

West's music career began as a frequent collaborator in tha Louisiana rap business. West was featured on over 20 releases in tha undaground business, keepin' his soul active for tha undaground headz to devour. In May of 1993, West was a Production Coordinator for Hard Head Records, till tha end of 1995. Following up tha label work, in January of 1996, West became tha Vice President for Ruff Era Records, till tha end of 1999. Shifting more to an urban contemporary/gospel sound to kick off tha new millennium, in 2000, West, Dominic Davis & Larry Jones formed Collage III. Shortly after, West became tha owner of Collage III's label, Collage Worldwide Entertainment. In 2001, Collage III released their debut album, Living The Lyrics, on Collage Entertainment. In September of 2006, West became tha owner of Nu-City Construction & in May of 2007, he became tha director of One Vision, One Voice, designing "an innovative program for students to experience the academic discipline, art & business of music, while adding to their repertoire of artistic expression." In 2013, Collage III released another album, Under Construction, courtesy of Collage Worldwide Entertainment. West kept his passion goin' for music until April 3, 2020, when he passed away from Coronavirus complications. If West made it to see July 29th of this year, he woulda turned 52 years-old.

Review #1,869: Krazy "Please Don't Kill Me"

Reviewed on 12.15.2019 (Review #1,869)

Got my next review up now: Krazy Please Don’t Kill Me, released in 1999 on Ruff Era Records! Start Time: 10:21 AM | End Time: 11:36 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

>>> Good lil’ “news” start, here… My Rating: N/A

02. “Please Don’t Kill Me” feat. Brother Peteh The Poet & Ed West
Producer: White Boy Greg
>>> Sounds like an okay beat & tha kid in tha beginning… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good fa tha streetz… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s more on tha struggle tip, which ain’t really fa me wit music… Ed singin’ on tha hook, too, which kinda iffy fa me… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty real wit this content… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s more spoken-word than rappin’, ta me… Overall, not really my kinda track; I wanna be happy… My Rating: 2.8

03. Skit
>>> Tha hook up, here…; not bad… “Alien” iz right, wit them non-residents of tha U.S.! My Rating: N/A

04. “Beef”

>>> Beat sounds good fa tha south, here; nice lil’ hook, too. Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds nice wit your gutta voice… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, as you keep this anti-“Beef” shit goin’… Mo shit ta offer on tha 3rd verse, here; gotta feel it…! My Rating: 4.0

05. “Let’s Get Freaky” feat. Gadiva & Ed West
Producer: Wydell
>>> A somewhat-dry, laidback vibe, for tha beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it not bad; I’ono how much I can tolerate this Tupac-soundin’ voice, tho… Tha hook sounds good fa a ‘90s bed session; tha female ain’t too bad wit West, singin’… Got Gadiva on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit okay rhymes… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, now, soundin’ okay wit your Tupac-ass, lol. My Rating: 3.6

06. “Ride With Me”
Producer: Wydell
>>> Beat’s nice and upbeat; this sounds good fa an upbeat hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s dope fa tha streetz; keep your Tupacness comin’, I guess… Tha 2nd verse soundin’ str8, as well; keep it goin’… Got a 3rd verse comin’ at me, soundin’ good, as you keep it goin’… My Rating: 3.7

07. “Holla At Me” feat. Lil’ Keke
Producer: Solo
>>> Sounds nice wit tha production, as well as what y’all got on tha hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good… Keke on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice wit his H-Town hustle; good shit… His “shit” was censored, at 2:09? Sucks… Got you on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit your N.O. vibes, of course… A 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse iz presented by Keke, comin’ through wit his successful connects…, though still censored, smh. My Rating: 4.1

08. “When It’s Dry” feat. Black S.T.E.E.L.
Producer: Hakeem
>>> Beat sounds nice & upliftin’; good lil’ hook, too… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit what you bringin’ fa tha streetz, here… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on from S.T.E.E.L., here, soundin’ okay; thought his voice would be mo gutta like yours? Tha 3rd verse iz you, comin’ through wit some hype shit; nice job… My Rating: 3.9

09. “Feeling Lost” feat. Lyric
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Sounds okay ova this southern beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s aight; I still think your voice clones off of others, tho… Lyric on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit decent shit; can’t say much… Sounds like interestin’ finds that you’re findin’ on tha 3rd verse, Crazy Krazy; nice… My Rating: 3.8

½time: A 3.7-rated CD, so far; not bad, tho some shit sounds nice. Your voice pretty nice, even tho it reminds me too much of other gutta rappers…

10. “Going To Make It” feat. Ed West
Producer: White Boy Greg
>>> Okay wit tha production ta rap on, here… Hearin’ what you got on tha 1st verse and this hood content nice… Got Ed singin’ on tha hook, here, soundin’ a lil’ iffy but good, at tha same time… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; gotta have dem “Girbauds,” tho…! A 3rd verse, here, soundin’ good ta rap, I guess; nice job… My Rating: 3.5

11. “That’s My Dog” feat. Legend Man
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> A laidback vibe, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds good about you havin’ a “dog” that gon look out fa you. See, I try ta be like dat to people but they have nowhere near as much luv fa me as I have fa dem, smh! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ this passion, even tho I feel jealous over it. Got tha 2nd verse from Legend Man, here, showin’ his luv fa his “dog,” as well; nice… Feelin’ how tha both of y’all comin’ through on tha 3rd verse, here; loyalty! Even wantin’ to “fit” in each other’s “Girbauds;” I feel dat! I luv when others wear my clothes; tribute to me! I really feel that outro, too; luv tha dialect of tha “dog” life! My Rating: 4.4

12. “You Thugs” feat. Lyric
Producer: Hakeem
>>> More on a west-soundin’ tip, here, fa tha production… Tha chick sounds aight on tha hook, with this singin’ & tha crowd-soundin’ vibe in tha beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s aight; keep tha hype comin’… Got tha 2nd verse from Lyric, here, soundin’ pretty faster than a typical rhyme; good shit… Tha 3rd verse iz here and it sounds good wit what you bringin’. Overall, not too bad of a track, I’d say… My Rating: 3.5

13. “Ruff Era Niggas Bust” feat. Big Pull, Hakeem, Legend Man, Lyric, Mr. Sleep & Skandalust
Producer: Wydell
>>> Beat sounds good; hearin’ you on tha 1st part of tha 1st verse & it’s nice wit what you’re bringin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse & this G-shit pretty nice; keep tha hype up! Skandulust on tha 1st part of tha 2nd verse cool wit her rhymes; it str8… Dude on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse sounds a lil’ interestin’ wit his flow; I digz it… Dude on tha 1st part of tha 3rd verse sounds good; nothin’ much ta say but it’s good… Dude followin’ on tha 2nd part of tha 3rd verse sounds good wit tha consistent rhymes, here… Hearin’ tha 1st part of tha 4th verse & it str8; good shit… You on tha 2nd part of tha 4th verse, comin’ through wit some grimy shit; nice job… My Rating: 4.2

14. “My Momma” feat. Jabar
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> A slow jam wit a female soundin’ str8 on tha hook, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’ono how much I can feel it, since it’s on tha sad tip… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you’re keepin’ this shit goin’; nothin’ really ta say… Tha 3rd verse sounds rough; hits home wit tha “Michael was a convicted felon at 17.” My late brother, “Michael,” had his troubles at that age & it escalated from there… Like I say, this ain’t really up my alley; a lil’ rough on tha ears, at times… My Rating: 2.3

15. “Downtown/Uptown”
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Beat’s soundin’ upbeat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit your energy, this time; feelin’ it! Tha hook’s pretty upbeat & nice ta hear; great job wit it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice wit how you keep this energetic, N.O. shit comin’! Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ good wit what you bringin’ to tha table… A lil’ chantin’ toward tha end, as well as a gutta-soundin’ outro; good shit… My Rating: 4.3

16. “Breathers In The Sky”
Producer: Wydell
>>> Beat’s nice, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you got some good shit on tha mic, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s str8; not really my kinda song, tho. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s str8, fa these legends… Not really inta tha depressin’ songs but this one has more of an upbeat beat to it, so it ain’t too bad… A long outro, here, soundin’ a lil’ emotional wit tha “R.I.P.” shit. My Rating: 3.2

17. “See Daylight” feat. Skandalust & Ed West
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> A good lil’ beat vibe, once again, even tho tha content’s a lil’ sad… I’m likin’ Ed on tha hook, this time; like how he sings, “Daylight!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you and it’s good; I’ll give you your upbeat props… Got Skandulust on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit some nice rhymes; props ta her, too… Got you on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit okay rhymes; it str8 fa me… My Rating: 3.9

18. “Haters Everywhere” feat. Legend Man, Ed West & Sweetie
Producer: White Boy Greg
>>> Tha hook from tha female singer ain’t too bad, here, ova this okay beat… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and it’s good; more on tha real-life content, too… Got you on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit decent/good shit, here… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse from Legend Man, comin’ through wit decent shit, as well; this mainly aight fa me… I know I may sound like I don’t have that much interest. It’s prolly ‘cause it’s more on tha decent/below-average side fa me… My Rating: 3.4

Overall: Most of this wasn’t too bad; a lot was decent, while there were a few tracks I thought were extra-nice.

01. “Shed Tears” feat. Stress & Ed West
Produced by Ezell Swang! >>> Nice lil’ beat; I’ono about this sad beat, tho; I’m not big about depressed songs… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice wit how you comin’ through wit this one, tho… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice, too; diggin’ your grimy, Tupacish-soundin’ voice… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty dope, too! And, a long outro, here… My Rating: 4.0

02. “Ballin’ Tonight” feat. Lyric & Sweetie
Ezell Swang beat, here… He did most of tha production but not all of it… >>> Fuck this!!! I’m not in tha mood for remakes; totally “Take Your Time (Do It Right)” on tha hook, here!! Not feelin’ it but it sounds like one of those novelty singles or somethin’… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like if Tupac needed a really big pop song, smh… Tha 2nd verse sounds like a featured artist that’s not credited; hmm… This whole entire track sounds random, here… Oh, I just wanna PUNCH that hook!!! And, tha 3rd verse; ehh… My Rating: 1.6

03. “Me & You” feat. Ed West
Sinista track! >>> I’m diggin’ this beat, right chea! Hearin’ tha 1st verse in this undaground world and it’s pretty nice… Likin’ tha hook, here, wit this singin’ (found out it was Ed West); good shit… And, we got tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ decent; not bad… Tha rest of this was pretty nice; good shit… My Rating: 4.1

04. “Down Town”
Ezell Swang in tha buildin’! >>> Sounds pretty nice wit that sampled beat in tha background, too… Great job wit how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice! Kinda reminds me of a track I heard in Baton Rouge six years ago, like, “Baton Rouge got you goin’ to Winfield quicker,” or somethin’ like that… And, great job wit how you’re comin’ through wit tha 2nd verse, here, continuously goin’… Tha 3rd verse’s pretty nice, too; good shit… My Rating: 4.0

05. “Game On Freeze” feat. Legend Man & Ed West
Anotha Ezell Swang beat! >>> Sounds like a nice lil’ hook and beat, here; laidback but a lil’ upbeat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, here; good job… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, too… Movin’ on with tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, too, as we continue… My Rating: 3.8

06. “Watching You”
Wydell beat… >>> Sounds like a nice lil’ undaground, laidback beat, here, with a lil’ upbeatness… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice from “you,” here… Tha hook from tha female sounds like it remakes somethin’, here (“watching you, watching me”); I’ono about it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, too, and it’s decent, too… My Rating: 3.5

07. “Pray 4 Me” feat. Ed West
Ezell Swang on tha track… >>> This a slower one, here; not bad… I don’t really have much ta say about this but how you have a Tupac-soundin’ voice? Was one of tha reasons that you grew up in tha same era as him? My Rating: 2.6

½time: Looks like a weirdly-rated review, here… A 3.4-rated CD, so far… There’s a few tight tracks but a few had really weird samples and threw me off…

08. “Chopper” feat. Mr. Sleep & Mr. Sinister
Ezell Swang doin’ anotha one… >>> Sounds good, here, wit tha vibe and how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s decent wit what y’all bringin’, here… Tha 2nd verse sounds nice, too, with both features; good shit… My Rating: 3.7

09. “World Of Sin”
Sinista did this one but really, 6:26? >>> Sounds good wit tha 1st verse, here; you got tha rhymes on lock fa tha streetz of New Orleans, here… A female singin’ tha hook, here; almost sounds like anotha sample… And, we got tha 2nd verse comin’ along, here, soundin’ decent, too… More shit comin’ along, here, wit tha 3rd verse, soundin’ pretty nice, too… At 4:07, it turned into a skit or somethin’ wit some nice-ass “herb,” too! My Rating: 3.4

10. “Streets To The Pin”
White Boy Greg on tha track… >>> A decent lil’ undaground-soundin’ ‘90s beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit tha rap you’re providin’ to tha undaground, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s quick and okay, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s nice ta hear, too; not bad, overall… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice wit these rhymes… Diggin’ tha dogs barkin’ around 2:57, too, lol… My Rating: 3.9

11. “My Enemies”
Ezell Swang beat… >>> Sounds like a decent lil’ beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and you got some of these rhymes on lock, here… Tha hook’s kinda good, but I’m startin’ ta feel a lil’ irritated with tha Tupac-soundin’ voice… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s decent ta hear, too… And, we got tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice ta hear, as well… My Rating: 3.6

12. “Neglect Me” feat. Tanya Jarvis
Sinista doin’ this one… >>> A cryin’ baby in tha beginning with this title? Prolly gon be pretty rough ta hear… Tha 1st verse from you ain’t that bad, here… Hearin’ tha hook from Tanya and it sounds good; sucks about tha “neglectin’,” tho… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice wit what you’re bringin’ to tha table, here… And, tha 3rd verse’s here, soundin’ good wit tha rhymes… Even tho this was a good review, tha track, itself, iz just okay for me, with these “neglectin’” vibes… My Rating: 3.3

13. “Chopper (Radio Edit)” feat. Mr. Sleep & Mr. Sinister
See #8 fa tha review…

14. “Ballin’ Tonight (Radio Edit)” feat. Lyric & Sweetie
See #2 fa tha review…

Overall: Turned out to be barely reachin’ a decent CD rating, overall… Some songs fucked up tha CD rating through samples and certain vibes, but it turned out to be decent, overall…

Review #456: Young Gangstas "Pre-Meditated Gangstarism"

Reviewed on 5.07.2010 (Review #456)

Time ta review my 5th CD for today… Now, this iz tha last one outta my marathon ‘til Monday ‘cause afta 46 CDs (includin’ this one), tha year 1995 iz COMPLETE in my marathon of Louisiana CDs!!! This final CD fa 1995 iz Young Gangstas “Pre-Meditated Gangstarism; how will it do? How will I end 1995? Start Time: 8:48 PM | End Time: 9:46 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Intro”
Okay then, will this be a song (‘cause of 2:43 on tha length) or just an intro? Lemme find out! >>> Tha beat intro was like 55 seconds and sounded good… Sounds like an interestin’ set of rhymes comin’ outta tha intro right chea! Shout out ta y’all, K-Syco & Ghetto Red a.k.a. G-Red! Y’all represent Teflon Don Records pretty good right chea wit tha rhymes! Definitely some good undaground shit right chea! I luv how tha verse ended wit “roll dat blunt, pass dat shit!” My Rating: 4.3

02. “Livin’ Hell” Feat. Mr. Sleep
This looks like it’ll be a cool collaboration! Damn, 6:15 on tha length… >>> Ooh, VERY gangsta fa tha start here on this cool lil’ beat! Pretty good lyrics right chea; y’all DEFINITELY tryin’ ta get outta “tha livin’ hell.” I definitely feel y’all on dis shit right chea; glad y’all got GR8 rhymes!! Tha 2nd verse has a nice lil’ hood feel ta it; thumbs up ta gr8ness in tha undaground!! Tha 3rd verse sounds like a white rapper at first but it’s good, regardless. Y’all got tha rhymes on lock wit visualness! There’s a 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse right chea wit some NICE rhymes too! Definitely likin’ how all y’all comin’ through on this shit; gr8 chemistry!! My Rating: 4.5

03. “Driven By Revenge”
I like tha title and tha length’s ova five minutes so let’s see how good dis one iz too! >>> Soundin’ like a nice, slow, Southern start in tha beat! “Take yo folks’ nuts and shove ‘em down yo fuckin’ throat;” DAMN!!!!! VERY, VERY HOT LYRICAL CONTENT RIGHT CHEA!!! DEFINITELY FOR THA STREETZ!!! There’s no hook but tha hot beat bein’ in it so thumbs up fa tha beat. Tha 2nd verse has more HOT shit continuin’ from where tha 1st verse left off. You KNOW I’m luvin’ dis street shit to tha fullest!!! MORE REAL HOTNESS in tha 3rd verse right chea!! Y’all from a “suicidal hood,” huh? Pretty rough… I guess dat’s why your rhymes are SO HOT wit REALNESS to tha fullest!! This verse has a SHIT-LOAD o’ real-life shit goin’ on here; thanx fa explainin’ this scene “about this bloody muthafucka!” REAL NICE endin’ to tha verse wit tha title!!! My Rating: 4.9

04. “Same Sad Song”
I wonder what this iz… Wit ova five minutes on tha length again… >>> A lil’ too on tha sad-type for tha beginning. It doesn’t sound sad once tha 1st verse comes in though; sounds like a remedy when it comes ta listenin’ ta undaground Rap music! Definitely like tha attitude comin’ outta tha 1st verse, ya dig. Tha hook’s kinda… plain; “same sad song?” Tha 2nd verse has some HOT content comin’ from tha rhymes right chea!! Tha 3rd verse has some HOT gangsta shit goin’ on here; y’all REALLY doin’ tha damn thang here wit some “bloody”-ass rhymes!!! Y’all make tha song MUCH betta than what I thought it was gonna be!! My Rating: 4.4

05. “Should Have Killed Me 1st”
Anotha joint wit ova five minutes on tha length! I predict this’ll be pretty raw wit tha lyrics and content!! >>> Good start so far wit nothin’ really ta say… Tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse has some pretty good rhymes, ya dig! Nice job deliverin’ tha 1st verse together; keep tha rhymes comin’!! Tha 2nd verse sounds gr8 wit tha hood shit goin’ on once again! Y’all fools wit tha scenes right chea when they’re described from your lyrics! Tha 3rd verse sounds like it gon be good; I hear some rapid rhymes! Nice ending scene wit tha swervin’! My Rating: 4.6

06. “Another Day Gone Left”
Looks like it’ll be interestin’… Dependin’ on what it sounds like, we’ll see how much I like it fa a song ova five minutes… >>> Soundin’ pretty deathy on tha start wit tha beat; I predict tha lyrics bein’ intense! Tha 1st verse sounds pretty RAW wit tha rhymes and tha story behind it!! “Got me locked up in this mental ward;” raw-ass shit! DEFINITELY a NICE 1st verse right chea and tha hook iz just tha beat… Money Mike does a nice job wit these beats right chea on this CD! Tha 2nd verse sounds good… Tha lyrics are a thumbs up; feelin’ tha attitude! This verse just keeps bringin’ dat heat!! DEFINITELY feelin’ tha continuous attitude, ESPECIALLY at 3:33!! VERY DESCRIPTIVE @ 3:55!! My Rating: 4.7

½time: Y’all DEFINITELY comin’ through wit tha descriptive, gangsta-ass rhymes and songs right chea, ya dig!!! Y’all got this shit on LOCK to tha fullest!! Keep at it and I DEFINITELY look forward to tha rest of tha songs on here!! Tha average CD rating currently iz a WHOPPIN’ 4.6!!!

07. “Day In The Life Of A Criminal”
Almost five minutes on tha length and it looks like it’ll be good once again!! >>> Comin’ through wit a long beat intro… 33 seconds ta be exact. It goes right into tha hook and tha hook sounds pretty TIGHT right chea!! Maybe this iz tha 1st verse ‘cause it just seems REAL consistent wit tha rhymes right chea and tha flow!! Tha 2nd verse has a nice way of deliverin’ tha gr8 rhymes right chea! I’m DEFINITELY feelin’ all tha shit goin’ on here to tha fullest!! Luv tha street content at its finest!! Tha 3rd verse iz comin’ through wit some tight shit too; buku rhymes equals buku luv from me!! My Rating: 4.4

08. “Come With Nuts” Feat. Mr. Sleep
Shit, what a raw-ass title we got here!!! This should be REAL TIGHT!!! >>> Kinda off to an aight start wit tha beat but once tha :11 mark came, tha 1st verse iz goin’ off right chea on a “now betta” beat!! Tha 1st verse iz REAL tight wit how tha shit iz aggressive when it comes ta tha content and as far as tha hook, FUCKIN’ REAL TIGHT!!! RAW SHIT AT ITS FINEST!!!!! I feel like it’s at a MAXIMUM LEVEL when it comes ta satisfaction of bein’ GR8!!! Continuin’ on, tha 2nd verse keeps this shit hot wit tha rawness!! It’s fadin’ out at 2:43? Oh, neva mind, it KICKED BACK IN!!! Tha 3rd verse sounds pretty STRONG wit tha content and all dat shit right chea, ya dig!!! LUVIN’ this flow right chea!!! I luv how tha lines end so quickly when tha words are pronounced!!! My Rating: 4.8

09. “King Pin” (Mr. Sleep Solo)
Mr. Sleep a fool wit it so you KNOW I gon luv dis one too!!! >>> And anotha joint clocks in at ova five minutes!! Tha rhymes sound pretty raw right chea; street style to tha fullest!! Tha hook sounds energetic; luvin’ it!! Y’all DEFINITELY GR8 wit dis shit when it comes ta rappin’ solo, rappin’ as a group, tha production, content, err-thang!!! “’Cause I want it all like a monopoly;” gr8 mind!! I’m sure tha mind paid off some way fa you, Sleep! If not, it STILL WILL, no matta if dis shit was 15 years ago!!! Tha 3rd verse came through wit some hot shit; Sleep has dat fiya!! My Rating: 4.6

10. “Killer Under Pressure”
Y’all decreased tha length by ½ this time (to 2:36), lol…? Let’s see if y’all can squeeze in a SHIT-LOAD O’ HOT SHIT!!! >>> Sounds like it gon be REAL GOOD based off tha beat intro!! Tha 1st verse starts off wit some street-ass shit once again!! Y’all DEFINITELY holdin’ it down, ESPECIALLY a lil’ afta 1:30; gutta-ass shit!!! Damn, only one verse? DEFINITELY held it down though!! My Rating: 4.5

11. “Definition Of A G” Feat. Mr. Sleep & Bossman And The Blakjak
Interestin’ collaboration here and my birthday (6:21) iz on tha length, lol! This should be REAL TIGHT then!!! >>> Raw shit fa tha start right chea ova a raw beat! Tha hook iz REAL RAW wit tha way tha title iz said; “Definition of a mutha…fuckin’ G!” Tha 2nd verse starts off wit some street-ass shit to tha fullest!!! Really LUVIN’ tha consistency of all tha rhymes dat don’t stop!!! Tha 3rd verse has hot shit goin’ on here; FOR THA STREETZ ONCE AGAIN!!! I like tha reference ta “playin’ Poker;” good shit! Review #51: Graveyard Soldjas "Cut Throat City"

Reviewed on 2.09.2008 (Review No. 51)

Watz good it’s Frankie wit a fuckin’ cold. Regarding tha cold, I finna do this here review. This might be tha oldest review I’ve eva done ‘cause it was released on October 17, 2000. This iz from Graveyard Soldjas and their album “Cut Throat City”. Here goes my review! Someone on Amazon.com (where I got tha info/tracklisting from) said there was a mix of techno in this? If that’s so, then I’m DEFINITELY lookin’ forward!! BTW I saw a lot of scratches on this CD (that my dawg Jimmy The DJ sent me). I hope it don’t skip or anything (I haven’t seen scratches on any of my CDs since like tha end of 2003, lol). Start Time: 11:38 PM | Video Game Playing: Tetris Attack (for Super Nintendo) (on my computer)

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. “Thugs On Flood” Feat. Trinday
Lookin’ forward to this joint wit a High AL! Goin’ down to Louisiana!! >>> I know this from 2000, but this some Louisiana music to tha fullest! Definitely sounds hot right here! Tha rhymes are crazy, as well as tha flowin’ and that beat. Great hook too. My Rating: 4.5

02. “C.T.C To Tha UPT” Feat. 7 Figgaz
Gotta love tha lengths on these jointz (this one iz like 5:44)!! I didn’t exactly know what UPT was (my boy D.Moore had it as part of his Myspace name) until I figured it out that it was “uptown”. Anyway, yeah another High AL on this one too! >>> Nice start (of course). DEFINITELY has that B.G./Lil’ Wayne/Juvenile/Big Tymers ol’ skool feel to it. Gotta love tha whole old feel! Yeah real nice rhymes. Like that “flamethrower” line in tha last verse. Kinda make it “from tha C.T.C/UPT to tha 631/570” in my case. My Rating: 4.1

03. “Sex, Money, & Drugs”
That’s tha No. 1 combination when it comes to Rap music. For me, I neva had sex before (and don’t obsess it – when it comes, it comes), and I don’t do drugs (but I’m not against drugs). I just luv money, ya dig. Anyway, let’s see what them Graveyard Soldjas are talkin’ ‘bout on this joint. >>> Yeah nice fast beat, and again, real nice flowin’ and lyrics. I really like that 3rd verse, where it’s like “Tha cops comin’, and I just got keys.” An anthem for all tha trappers right here. My Rating: 4.3

04. “Trouble Maker”
Looks like it gon be a cool song. Lemme peep it out! >>> I’m really likin’ that beat. Damn, I just fuckin’ love this Louisiana fast music!! That hook kicks ass! Fuckin’ lovin’ this! Great rhymes again!! My Rating: 4.7

05. “R.I.P. Anthony Barber”
Oh no slowin’ it down already? This should’ve been at tha end, but lemme see, maybe I’m wrong about it bein’ slow… >>> Oh never mind it’s just an interlude. Tha music just makes me wanna . My Rating: N/A

06. “Which Way 2 Go?” Feat. Toney Boy
Heard tha intro real quick, and yeah, I guess I’m right about tha slow one coming up. This iz it. Let’s see how it turns out to be… >>> Sounds like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony wit this joint. This iz too slow for me. Like I said, it should’ve been at tha end. R.I.P. to those that have passed away. I’m likin’ tha fast rappin’ on tha 2nd verse. Tha lyrics are very emotional, and I love tha fast rappin’. This iz better than most “R.I.P. / sad” songs out there. A lil’ too much singin’ at tha end. Too bad so many people died since this CD came out. My Rating: 3.7

07. “Soldjas, Breathers, & Riders” Feat. Mr. Sleep & Toney Boy
Iz it gonna speed up again? Wanna hear what’s goin’ on wit this joint. >>> This a lil’ slower than tha previous jointz, but tha hook sounds pretty nice. Yeah its got a good tempo. Feelin’ them beatz. My Rating: 3.8

08. “Red Rum”
On tha drinkin’ side of thangz now. Let’s see… >>> I dunno, but it sounds pretty good. Lol @ tha times it says “red rum.” It’s an aight song. Good everything pretty much. My Rating: 3.5

½time: Looks like a good CD. I wonder what these boyz are doin’ these dayz…

09. “Smell Me?” Feat. Night Creeper
Yeah, but I want another really good joint, ya “smell me?” >>> It’s almost 6 minutes long, so I’m definitely expectin’ somethin’ good. Nice beat. Good on tha flowing again! I love it. Yeah another great song. Can’t get enough of that flowin’ and tha rhymes! If only rappers could combine both and make some real hot shit! C’mon think: fire and gasoline. Like Doruntina (a singer that does Dance music) said in “I Burn 4 U” (from late 2006), “…pour all tha gasoline. Watch tha flames get higher…higher!” SHIT at 4:08 it’s skipping! Damn CD! I fast-forwarded 13 seconds, and now it’s playing regular again. My Rating: 3.9

10. “C.T.C.” Feat. C-Style
Gotta represent for it! Can’t wait to go to Louisiana one of these dayz! >>> Nice fast beat, but it’s just skipping. I’m still listenin’ to it tho. Aight after about 10 seconds of skippin’, it stopped skippin’. Sounds good. Not bad. My Rating: 3.7

11. “In My World”
>>> “I’m all about my nut, so bitch, call me squirrel.” Good line. Since I’m Autistic, I must say that I always live err-day “in my own world”. It’s a lot better than being a “follower”. Not bad on tha hook. Tha rhymes & flowin’ straight up good as always. My Rating: 4.0

12. “Bad Bitch”
On tha sexy side, let’s see. Maybe it’ll be better than those previous jointz. >>> Feelin’ that slowly creepin’ up beat! Yeah real nice on tha beat. Feelin’ this shit right here. Love tha flowin’ wit tha beat. Tha hook iz tha typical Louisiana ol’ skool style, and I’m feelin’ it. My Rating: 4.2

13. “Shake Something $”
It looks like tha sequel to tha previous joint (by tha title). Can it sound like it? >>> Real nice electronic beat right here! Nice hook. I like tha beginning of it “niggaz standin’ on tha corner servin’ yay.” Yeah it’s nice and consistant. That’s why I’m not really writin’ much. My Rating: 4.0

14. “City Streetz”
A good title right here. Let’s see what I think about it. >>> Good Louisiana beat. Really feelin’ it. Sounds like it keeps gettin’ better and better! Lovin’ tha flowin’ wit tha beat (of course). These rappers DEFINITELY made a great CD here wit tha combination of tha flowin’ and tha rhymes! Tha last 3 seconds of this joint started skippin’, lol. My Rating: 4.1

15. “Let Me Breathe” Feat. Monsta
It’s a long one. Let’s see what pace this iz. >>> It’s not that slow, and it’s skipping so much. It sounds pretty good tho. Nice lil’ “old video game” type of music it has in tha beat. Aight fuck this I’m very tired. Okay I skipped it an extra 30 seconds, and it seems to be finally playing normally. Tha last verse has some real nice rapid-fire rappin’ in it. My Rating: 3.8

16. “Watch What U Say” Feat. Blue Chip & GAT’A
Yeah watch what you say to these boyz right’chea. They finna kick yo ma’fuckin’ ass! >>> Good it seems to not be skipping. Real nice fast beat. Tha shit iz skippin’ again, but I’m feelin’ it. It sounds like it’s fuckin’ mixin’ while skippin’, smh/lol. While it was skippin’, it sounded like tha machine that I would take that would make me breathe, lol. Aight I just stopped it. I can’t take tha skippin’ anymore. My Rating: 4.3

Overall: End Time: 1:13 AM. That shit was good. Definitely feelin’ tha ol’skool!
