Review #1,982: C-Murder "Trapped In Crime"

Reviewed on 6.04.2021 (Review #1,982)

Here comes my 1,982nd review: C-Murder Trapped In Crime, released in 2000 on No Limit Records, Priority Records & TRU Records! Start Tyme: 8:39 AM | End Tyme: 9:49 AM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Nice beat & intro from that boy, C-Murder…! My Rating: N/A

02. “Forever TRU”
Producer: XL
>>> Tha hook & beat sound good ta kick this album off; almost seems more like a vacation with tha beat than a street-soundin’ beat? Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & it sounds aight with what you’re bringin’, here; can’t say much… Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 2nd verse & it ain’t bad, still… Nice lil’ mixed outro from Biggie, as well…! My Rating: 3.8

03. “Concrete Jungle” feat. Snoop Dogg, Eastsidaz & KokeKane
Producer: LT
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ 1st verse from Snoop, here; likin’ how tha beat sounds like a mix between non-Louisiana & a Louisiana vibe, as well… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds aight; just seems like a random voice. Keepin’ this shit goin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, spittin’ some good shit… Hearin’ you rap on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through with good street shit; gotta give you props, alwayz… My Rating: 3.7

04. “They Don’t Really Know” feat. Master P & Erica Fox
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Diggin’ tha alarm clock in tha beat, here; not really my cup of tea with tha R&B singin’ from Erica on tha hook, tho… Damn, even Erica on tha 1st verse? Naw; way too soft for a C-Murder track! Even you startin’ your verse off on tha 2nd verse with “1 + 1 = 2”? *Sigh*… Keepin’ this movin’ with P on tha 3rd verse, here & he spittin’ a good lil’ verse. Surprised how I’d like a P verse betta than a C verse, while tha both of them on tha same track… My Rating: 2.5

05. “How A Thug Like It” feat. Da Brat
Producer: Jermaine Dupri & Bryan-Michael Cox
Goin’ to tha ATL for inspiration? >>> Sounds nice with tha Jermaine Dupri-soundin’ intro & beat, here… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds interestin’ how you collaborated with Da Brat, here; nice collab on tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & it sounds betta than tha previous song, with how you’re comin’ through fa these ladies & street headz… Keepin’ this movin’ with Da Brat on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ good fa tha 2000. She did her thang with her Tyrese-featurin’ “What Chu Like”, which I really enjoyed in 2000. Now, I get ta hear her collab with you & it sounds great to add to “What Chu Like”’s 2000 presence. Hearin’ tha both of y’all go back & forth on tha 3rd verse & it sounds nice with tha street content. It just seems weird ta hear Brat rap about tha streetz, tho; either way, props fa pumpin’ her up, C! My Rating: 3.9

06. “Want Beef” feat. Fat Joe
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Beat’s cool from Ke’noe, here…; hearin’ Joey Crack on tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through with anotha good, non-Louisiana contribution ta your album, C… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds like a wild event; keep buckin’ ‘em up! Hearin’ you on tha 2nd verse, C & you’re comin’ through with some energy; nice job… My Rating: 3.8

07. “Ride” feat. Samm & D.I.G.
Producer: XL
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ hook, here, on this laidback, southern beat; keep on ridin’…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & they got a good lil’ verse fa tha hood, here; gotta hit ‘em wit da content! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & dude also sounds good fa tha streetz of tha 504, here; keep on keepin’ on…! Got you on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ gangsta with your content; props fa lettin’ this shit be known… My Rating: 3.9

08. “Staring At The Walls”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Beat start sounds dope from Big Los, here; feelin’ tha dark sounds! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s good, despite tha content bein’ pretty rough; C, I can’t wait till you’re “free”! Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 1st verse & it sounds good, with your laidback flow. Can’t wait till you have a lil’ more energy to deliver on this album, aside from these laidback flows… Keepin’ this thang movin’ on with tha 2nd verse, here & you spittin’ good shit fa tha Gz; keep bein’ “against 100,” no matter tha challenge! My Rating: 4.0

09. “On Da Block” feat. Young Guns
Producer: Bass Heavy & Suga Bear
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here; seems a lil’ faster ta rap on? Hearin’ tha hook from you & it str8; thought it would be a lil’ aggressive? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds like an okay/good lil’ verse from you… Hearin’ these Guns on tha 2nd verse & they sound good on this collab; literally, it’s startin’ ta sound like a TRU-soundin’ Cash Money track. Tha 2nd dude from tha Young Guns iz on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse & it’s still a good contribution; just tha right amount of energy needed. My Rating: 4.0

10. “What You ‘Bout” feat. Mystikal
Producer: Ke’noe
Hope tha energy’s to tha top wit Mystikal, here!! >>> Nice beat fa tha Gz, here; gotta luv tha both of y’all on tha hook, of course! Luv how Mystikal lends you some of his energy to reach tha top of your energy; awesomeness! Hearin’ Mystikal on tha 1st verse & it’s too aggressive; gotta luv how he comes through on tha mic, sometymes sloppy…! Hearin’ what you got goin’ on with tha 2nd verse & it’s cool; thought you’d have tha energy Mystikal had on tha verse but it’s still str8. I mean, you got tha consistent rhymes, here; just seems like you’re just keepin’ up with tha pace… My Rating: 4.3

11. Battlefield
>>> Sounds like a cold, breezy “Battlefield”, based off this skit. Also, pretty gutta with tha gunshots… Tha chick singin’ in tha background makes it seem like tha eerie “Battlefield” that’s needed to make this album seem more eerie… My Rating: N/A

12. “Where Do We Go” feat. Mac, Silkk The Shocker & Nuance
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> An okay beat but not too interested in that Nuance singer singin’ on tha hook; too depressin’… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds good with your rhymes; it only seems dry with tha flow & depressin’ vibe. Keepin’ this thang movin’ with Mac on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with a rough perspective with tha jail demons hauntin’ him. I feel his paranoia & I’m glad he spit some dope lyrics, str8 from a real, haunted heart…! Keepin’ this movin’ with Silkk on tha 3rd verse and, of course, tha flow’s off & more spoken than rappin’, smh; don’t need ta say anything… My Rating: 3.0

½tyme: I see this as tha weakest C-Murder album from previous efforts; seems like it’s a mix of mainstream, a lil’ bit of sadness & some okay vibes. I think you need more energy in this album, C; only a 3.7 for tha average rating, so far…

13. “NL Niggaz” feat. Afficial
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Anotha nice beat from Ke’noe but I expect more darker, street-soundin’ shit from him, rather than this vacation-like shit. Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good from you, at least; still, seems like these beats make you feel more laidback… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & you spittin’ some okay shit fa tha “No Limit” peeps; gotta rep! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Afficial & I’m feelin’ his energy, while he delivers tha rhymes; good shit fa tha streetz… Anotha dude on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse? Sounds good; reminds me of non-Louisiana shit with tha voice & delivery, here. My Rating: 3.6

14. “Too Much Noise” feat. D.I.G. & Master P
Producer: DJ Ron
>>> Sounds like a good beat & tha hook sounds good from D.I.G., here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from D & it’s cool; block out tha “noise” ta succeed, basically! Keepin’ it goin’ wit Master P on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit an okay verse; he expressin’ his “problems” as “Too Much Noise”, here. Hearin’ you on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit an okay flow & set of rhymes; keep on reppin’… My Rating: 3.7

15. “Damned If They Murder Me” feat. Mac & Magic
Producer: XL
>>> Beat’s a lil’ calmer but still has a bit of a dark vibe with tha organ. Still, it seems a lil’ more mainstream, based off my feelings for it… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds rough with tha content; too bad tha thought of bein’ murdered iz on your mind… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & it ain’t bad with how you’re comin’ through wit it… Hearin’ tha 2nd hook & now, a female singer iz singin’ in tha background; I’ono, you prolly coulda excluded her. She makes this sound more depressin’ & I’m not ‘bout dat depressin’ shit. As I continue, at least there’s Mac on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit his game of tha streetz; props fa reppin’ fa C…! Got Magic on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through calm, too; not really into tha laidback, calm-soundin’ flows. When I think of certain people bein’ on tha track, I expect energy & top-notch feelings; this, no… My Rating: 3.1

16. “Hustlin’” feat. Master P & Krazy
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Damn, anotha secretly-sung hook? Why? Beat cool fa tha south but again, it sounds too laidback for tha C that I’m used to… Hearin’ P on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some good energy ta express tha luv fa “Hustlin’”, here; let it be known! Keepin’ it goin’ with tha right energy added to tha album: Krazy; Krazy comin’ through wit dat Pac-like flow, voice & strong street content, here! Gotta give him props; take notice of tha energy & slight aggression in tha flow, C! Now, here you are on tha 3rd verse, C, comin’ through, of course, laidback; decent, with some sadness of tha “gunshot,” too… My Rating: 3.3

17. “That Calliope”
Producer: XL
>>> Finally, deserved energy!! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s a hot chant to represent “That Calliope”! Almost thought it was gonna be a bounce beat but tha energy’s just about tha same! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & you holdin’ it down wit this energy; don’t stop, C!! Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse & it sounds funny/cool ta hear you rap a bounce flow; good shit, C! You know what it iz with this “Calliope” representation! You got tha 3rd verse on-n-poppin’, too; you don’t need tha lyrics, all tha tyme! You always need tha right energy, applied right! My Rating: 4.3

18. “Young Thugs” feat. Holloway of The GC, Popeye & Jabo
Producer: XL
>>> Sounds sad; what a way to throw away tha last song’s energy! Hearin’ tha hook & I’m not into tha singin’ in tha background, once again; rappin’ just a regular voice, too… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you & I’m diggin’ tha aggressive perspective in your voice; at least that’s a plus. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & this dude from tha hook aight; can’t seem ta have too much interest but they have good aggression, at tymes. Keepin’ this movin’ with tha 3rd verse, here & this dude sounds nice & southern with their voice; good rhymes & a good way to rap on this sad beat. My Rating: 2.9

19. Otis Commercial
>>> A random call, dedicated ta puttin’ “Otis” in tha bitch, “biiiiitch,” lol? My Rating: N/A

20. Interlude
>>> Of course, this album couldn’t go an interlude without singin’! It’s catchy with tha “look in my eyes” shit but just sounds too depressin’, beat-wise. I mean, it sounds like tha singer, from your perspective, wants to really fuck. However, it just doesn’t seem glorious when tha production sounds sad… My Rating: N/A

21. “They Want My Money” feat. Mac & Mia X
Producer: XL
>>> Beat sounds like a nice, southern, bounce-soundin’ beat (without tha “Triggaman” sounds); not bad & tha singin’ on tha hook ain’t too bad, neither… Um, Mac, that’s you singin’? Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds like an okay/good verse from you; you focused fa dick-slangin’, basically… Keepin’ this thang movin’ wit Mia on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with some good energy; not bad fa a contribution, overall… My Rating: 3.5

22. “Thug In Yo Life” feat. Krazy & Suga Bear
Producer: Suga Bear
>>> An okay beat with some catchy sounds, at tymes… Ahh! R&B singin’ on tha hook, here; too soft fa me ta enjoy! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & yeah, not really inta this soft-soundin’ C, C… At least there’s some life with Krazy on tha 2nd verse, here; at least his voice = any type of aggression! My Rating: 2.7

23. “Down For My Ns” feat. Snoop Dogg & Magic
Producer: Carlos Stephens & XL
Can’t believe I’m finally reviewin’ this one… I remember in 2000, when Hot 97 would always have this as an instrumental to talk on, all tha tyme…! Anyway, luv how this, one of tha hardest tracks of 2000, comes after a bunch of soft-soundin’ tracks! As far as tha review, tha hook & beat goes too hard with tha way it hypes up anybody! With you on tha 1st verse, you got tha focus & energy, here, thanx ta Big Los & XL helpin’ you out with tha energetic production! Hearin’ Magic on tha 2nd verse & he got tha energy on lock; too-too top-notch!! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Snoop on tha 3rd verse, here, feelin’ tha energy, too; glad y’all created such an anthem, here! Goes good with a DMX catalog! My Current Rating: 4.8

24. “Street Thug” feat. New-9 & Magic
Producer: XL
>>> Beat sounds aight, here; a lil’ dry but tha hi-hats seem to be takin’ over more… Quiet-soundin’ 1st verse with how you comin’ through on tha 1st verse? Decent, basically… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from New-9 of tha Prime Suspects & it’s soundin’ like a betta verse; feelin’ his gangsta-soundin’ shit, here… Keepin’ it movin’ wit Magic on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit aggression & energy ta represent tha streetz, here; gotta fucks wit it! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: I seemed more disappointed in this album; expected more energy & less slower/singin’ vibes…

Reviewed on 6.01.2021 (Review #1,967)

All right! I made it to my 4th review for today; let’s see if I can hit that 2,000 mark by tha 10th! Here’s my next review: 504 Boyz Goodfellas, released in 2000 on No Limit Records & Priority Records! This 504 Boyz lineup for their debut consisted of C-Murder, Krazy, Mac, Magic, Master P, Mystikal & Silkk The Shocker, b4 C got locked up. Start Tyme: 5:34 PM | End Tyme: 6:39 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! 01. Intro
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds interestin’ wit P’s son, here; he thinks “Krazy” = “Pac”. Also, I like his “ya heard me?” at tha end. My Rating: N/A

02. “Roll, Roll”
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Sounds like a grimy intro from P, here; good shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty poppin’ wit Ezell Swang doin’ tha production, here…! Lol, P sounds like such a grimy teddy bear with tha “roll, roll” shit; what a hook! Here comes tha 2nd verse wit Krazy = his Pac side, here; good, consistent shit…! Got tha 3rd verse from Mystikal, wildin’ out, non-stop; unstoppable on tha mic! Also, got Silkk comin’ through wit some semi-off flows ta end tha 3rd verse off; random/okay, at best. Lol @ tha train doin’ its thang on tha end, too…! My Rating: 4.2

03. “Big Toys” feat. D.I.G.
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Nice hook wit Krazy & his “toys,” here; gutta wit Los on tha beat…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it cool; just consistent rhymes, basically. Mac got tha Boyz on lock, all tha tyme! Pretty gutta wit Krazy on tha 2nd verse, strictly lettin’ it know what it iz, no matter what! Tha grind don’t stiggy-stiggy-stop! Recruitin’ D.I.G. fa tha feature of tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some soulja-type shit; good goin’, y’all! My Rating: 4.1

04. “Whodi” feat. Mr. Marcelo
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Diggin’ tha hook & gutta beat fa tha whodies; good shit, P! Got P on tha 1st verse, too, comin’ through wit how he viewed tha streetz in 2000; nice job. Tha 2nd verse keeps this shit goin’ with good shit; good job, as we continue…! Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse & it’s Mystikal, flippin’ out on tha mic! Luv how fast & aggressive he iz to where tha betta, tha faster I type! Tha 3rd verse ain’t bad, as this shit continues; can’t deny everythang bein’ brought to tha table. Silkk just luvs his random contributions, courtesy of his flow… Hearin’ tha 4th verse & C-Murder starts it off, continuously bein’ “blunted”; good shit, no matta when! An outro from Wild Wayne, as well; good energy, overall! My Rating: 4.1

05. “Wobble Wobble”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
Their only Top 40 hit & it has hit my review radar! Sounds good, of course; sounds like an older version or somethin’? Thought it seemed more hype on tha hook? Either way, glad this track had its tyme… Tha 1st verse was good ta hear, once again & P on tha 2nd verse makes this flow nicely fa err-body in every field. As far as tha rest of y’all, definitely nice; luv how Mystikal’s so aggressive, yet, this track was so mainstream! My Current Rating: 4.3

06. “Check ‘Em” feat. Traci a.k.a. Baby Girl
Producer: XL
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat with tha bounce sounds & special-soundin’ sound, too. P sounds catchy on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit some good shit ta enjoy. Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good with this Traci chick on tha hook wit P; gotta “Check ‘Em”! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Traci & she sounds good on tha track, here; worked out nicely for a female feature… Also, nice chantin’ toward tha end, too; thumbs up. My Rating: 4.2

07. “Uptown” feat. Suga Bear
Producer: Carlos Stephens, Penitentiary & Suga Bear
>>> A singin’ hook/beginning from Suga Bear, here…; not too sure if I can feel it. Tha beat ain’t too bad but three producers needed for a good/decent beat? Anyway, hearin’ tha 1st verse from P & it’s facts for tha streetz, here; good job. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s soundin’ good, as facts are continuin’ to be spit fa tha 504 Boyz. Tha 3rd verse sounds good ta hear, too, as it’s nice & laidback on this upbeat beat; nice, y’all. My Rating: 3.7

08. “I Can Tell” feat. Mercedes & Jabo
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds like it gon be a cheesy track; ugh, this hook! I recognize this hook & how it’s been used multiple tymes; yuck @ tha singin’! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight… As far as tha rest of this, it’s pretty much a turn-off fa me; not diggin’ tha rest. My Rating: 2.1

09. Commercial I
>>> Sounds good; No Limit souljaz in tha buildin’…! My Rating: N/A

10. “If You Real, Keep It Real”
Producer: Carlos Stephens & Myke Diesel
>>> Anotha track wit female singin’ on tha hook; this tyme, it’s background vocals. Hearin’ tha hook from P & it’s just preachin’ about “real” & “fake”; all right, I guess? Hearin’ tha 1st verse from P & it sounds soft fa these fakerz… “You ain’t no soulja, boi; go take dat tatt off yo stomach”; deep. More anti-fake shit fa tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ like an okay set of preachin’, for tha flow. Hearin’ what’s after tha 2nd verse & it sounds like an outro, already? Like, why such a loooooooong outro?? Like, 2:49 for an outro?? My Rating: 2.4

11. “Beefing”
Producer: Penitentiary & Suga Bear
>>> Sounds like a sunset-type of settin’ for tha beat style, here, mixed with some gangsta vibes; good, laidbackness… Hearin’ tha hook & it ain’t bad; sounds a lil’ too soft fa a “Beefing” title? Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it aight; like I said, too laidback for a “Beefing” title… Damn, anotha long outro? Maybe not; at least a 2nd verse iz here & it ain’t bad; just a decent contribution, once again… My Rating: 3.5

½tyme: Tha 1st ¼ started off pretty dope & then, tha 2nd ¼ sounded like it was goin’ downhill with tha R&B, laidback & long parts… Either way, for tha ½tyme rating, we have a 3.6 for tha rating; we can do betta…!

12. “We Bust” feat. Ghetto Commission
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds nice & aggressive, as we’ve moved away from tha laidback vibes…! Great job with tha 1st verse & what’s bein’ contributed, here; all about tha street “war”! Tha hook sounds nice ta hear; gotta “bust” dat street content out…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it decent; nothin’ much ta say, here… My Rating: 3.6

13. “Thug Girl II”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> I like how tha chicks are chantin’, “Ova here, whodie!,” to P on tha intro, here; good shit, hook & beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & P wildin’ out, here; good vibes, as this shit continues…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & shit sounds a lil’ off with tha flow; I guess it just inserts itself into tha track, right? Good-ole Krazy comes through on tha 3rd verse with his gutta-soundin’ contributions; can’t deny him… My Rating: 4.2

14. “Life Is Serious” feat. Erica Fox
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> Not too sure if I’ll feel anotha hook with a female singer; we’ll see, as this laidback one plays on by… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Krazy & it ain’t bad, here; storytellin’ ain’t bad for this verse… Got P on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some decent shit; at least he’s got a betta voice, no matter tha flow. Got a 3rd verse, here & it ain’t bad; I feel like, if it’s not C, P, Magic, Mystikal or Krazy, it’s more on tha decent/below-average level. As far as this 3rd verse, it just went on by fa me, basically. My Rating: 2.8

15. “Them Boyz” feat. X-Con
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Nice lil’ anthemic beat from Ke’noe, here; good shit! P on tha hook, here, comin’ through wit some warnings to “watch dem boyz!” Gotta dig it! Hearin’ P on tha 1st verse, as well, comin’ through wit da bidness; you know what it iz… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some decent rhymes; I feel like they flow right into tha track, here. With tha 3rd verse, it sounds nice; nice & deep voice ta add to tha vibe, here. My Rating: 3.8

16. “Moving Things” feat. Samm & Erica Fox
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Lol @ P “workin’ graveyard,” on tha intro; I feel like he works past tha “graveyard,” since he has done so much… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty laidback/soft, here, especially wit these ladies vocalizin’ on tha hook; not sure how much I feel it. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad from P, here; I feel like it gon drag, tho… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s a lil’ boring; too slow of a track to keep my attention… Damn, not a 90-second outro…! This “muthafuckin’ ATM” bullshit; ugh! Also, that callin’ off/no-showin’ bullshit P bein’ accused of, at tha end; rough, especially in a song… My Rating: 2.3

17. Commercial II
>>> That moment when tha commercial has a more-upbeat beat than some of tha tracks on here, smh… Nice lil’ commercial; glad P always put that No Limit out there as often as possible! Also, lol @ tha endin’ with tha “in ya No Limit gear” as a hook/chant; only P! My Rating: N/A

18. “D-Game” feat. Terrar a.k.a. Pusha T & Pharrell
Producer: The Neptunes
Full-On Neptunes, here… >>> Diggin’ how Pharrell sounds on tha hook, here; definitely those old dayz of The Neptunes, here. Also, Pusha T/Terrar on tha 1st verse, here, b4 I knew Clipse… He sounds like he blends in nicely, here; that true Clipse/Neptunes sound, like it was 2002, again! Only now, it’s 2-Triple-0! Supa-catchy fa a non-Louisiana collab! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & I’m feelin’ tha upbeat aggression; tha Boyz on top! My Rating: 4.4

19. “Enemies” feat. X-Con
Producer: Ezell Swang
>>> When I hear tha 504 peeps say, “Enemies,” it seems like I’m ready fa dat Pac voice or somethin’. With this one, it sounds nice with tha hook, beat & what’s goin’ on; just anotha millennial vibe, basically. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s bouncin’ its way through, soundin’ nice; nice job, 504 Boyz…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds like tha bouncin’ vibe continues! When I say, “Bouncin’,” I don’t necessarily mean bounce music; I just talk about how tha beat can make you bobMy Rating: 4.0

20. “Souljas” feat. Snoop Dogg & RBX
Producer: Carlos Stephens & Fred Rec
>>> A focused beginning, here…; hearin’ tha Irish pipes in tha beat & I’m thinkin’, “More like a skit?” Hearin’ Snoop on tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad fa his contribution, here; a lil’ laidback on tha flow but it’s still str8. Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty grimy with tha voice applied by Krazy; souljatastic! Got P on tha 2nd verse, here…; glad he know what it be with that hood shit…! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Krazy on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit dat heat; nice job, as alwayz…! My Rating: 3.9

21. “No Limit”
Producer: Suga Bear
>>> Kinda sounds cheesy with tha male singin’ on tha hook, here…; still, I’m glad it’s a “No Limit” representation of a “soulja.” Hearin’ Magic on tha 1st verse & he sounds good; thought he’d be more aggressive, tho. Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, as Magic continues to deliver decent/good shit; not bad, as he continues to bring it… My Rating: 3.4

22. “Say Brah”
Producer: XL
>>> Tha “Free Soulja Slim” tymes; crazy that those tymes were a tyme, back then! Hearin’ tha beat & it sounds like it’s ready ta deliver an anthem? Hearin’ tha hook & it cool; I like “brah” spelled “B-R-U-H” betta than “B-R-A-H”, since “brah” looks like a bra. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; I thought tha hook was a lil’ catchier but it still str8… Oh boy, P had ta contribute, as always…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from him & it str8; he can’t be touched, when it comes to everythang bein’ put out durin’ these tymes…! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Looks like this turned out ta be just a decent release; didn’t really get too-too excitin’ but was definitely nice fa tha anthems that were on here. I’m sure their follow-up in 2002’s betta than this but I’ll see, wheneva I get to that point.

Review #1,912: TRU "Da Crime Family"

Reviewed on 12.27.2019 (Review #1,912)

Oh boy! Back to tha double discs! Here comes this next review fa TRU Da Crime Family, released in 1999 on No Limit Records & Priority Records!
Disc 1: Start Time: 9:22 PM | End Time: 10:17 PM
Disc 2: Start Time: 10:21 PM | End Time: 11:02 PM
Overall: Start Time: 9:22 PM | End Time: 11:02 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it!

06. “Don’t Judge Me” feat. Popeye & Porsha
Producer: KLC
>>> Anotha sad one? Tha hook with Porsha sounds decent; likin’ tha KL beat, tho… Hearin’ Silkk on tha 1st verse & yeah, gotta not “judge” those that “sag” & do what they want! I know I get tha “judge” for my autistic wayz but I gon keep soldierin’ on…! Got tha Popeye dude on tha 2nd verse, here, wit a decent verse; lyrics good but I’m not inta this sad content… Got C on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ okay; can’t say much… My Rating: 2.9

¼time: Tha 1st 1/8 seemed okay, tho it sounds like tha 2nd 1/8 seems sad & slow? A 3.6-rated CD fa Disc 1, so far; we can do betta…! Stay positive!

08. “Hard Ns” feat. Fiend
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Sounds like a dope lil’ hook, here; nice & hype fa tha south, here! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from C & it sounds good; nice job holdin’ tha streetz down! Got P on tha 2nd verse & he brings mo heat to tha streetz; nice…! Ain’t hear tha term “tha yo” till, like, ‘09ish & P had it here in ’99; nice! Got tha aggressive, “B-A-D” Fiend on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ dope; nice job wit tha aggressive energy! My Rating: 4.3

09. “Stay Real” feat. Skull Duggrey
Producer: Carlos Stephens
Gotta luv Skull!! >>> Likin’ tha phone call in tha beginning, here… Sounds okay wit Silkk on tha 1st verse, here… Tha quality of his flow/verse sounds like tha quality of tha phone call? Weird… Definitely feelin’ tha hook from Silkk & Skull; definitely nice! Gotta luv tha “real” vibe! Too bad there’s all pussies in Pussyvania, where I’m at, smh! Can’t wait ta get outta here, in tha long run! Anotha verse from Silkk, here, keepin’ tha phone call flow goin’; weird but good, I guess? Main focus iz tha hook & beat, here… My Rating: 4.0

10. “Supposed To Be My Friend” feat. Snoop Dogg
Producer: Battle Cat

11. “The Ghetto Is A Struggle” feat. Peaches
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Anotha sad-sackin’ song wit this Peaches hook… Hearin’ C on tha 1st verse & he sound good, at least… Mo shit from C on tha 2nd verse, here; at least it’s all C, basically… Like I say, good C but not inta these slow songs about tha “struggle.” Got Silkk on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ decent but I’d rather hear C… My Rating: 2.8

12. “Run Away Slaves”
Producer: Mo B. Dick
>>> Good lil’ P intro & hook, here, as well as tha B beat… Got P on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ okay wit these rhymes. Then again, it sounds like anotha sad theme, smh… What’s wit tha really-long outro? Like, 90 seconds! Ouch! My Rating: 1.9

13. “Livin’ Like A Hustler” feat. Mo B. Dick & Peaches

Even got a 2nd part of tha 4th verse, here, fittin’ Silkk; not bad/good… My Rating: 3.8

½time: This 1st disc was a lil’ too soft fa me, basically. Too many sad-soundin’ tracks & not enough energy fa tha lineup, here… Let’s see how Disc 2 does…

Now, tha 2nd disc…

01. “Bounce”
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> At least there’s energy, this time!! Got tha hook wit C & it sounds dope; definitely nice! Oh boy, Silkk on tha 1st verse… At least he comin’ through wit some catchy shit fa tha clubz, here… I think he should stick ta club bangaz, since his flow’s all ova tha place on otha tracks? Likin’ how P continues wit tha “Hoody Hooo” track’s hook, on tha start to tha 2nd verse, here; nice shit… “Kickin’ ladies like karate,” huh, P? Deep, lol! My Rating: 4.4

02. “You’ll Never Change” feat. D.I.G. & Mac
Producer: Suga Bear
>>> Female singin’ on tha hook; it’s okay but I feel like we’re goin’ back to tha sad-soundin’ tracks… Remakin’ “The Boy Is Mine”, this time; what’s next? Hearin’ D.I.G. on tha 1st verse & I’m feelin’ what he spittin’, here; let’s see how tha rest gon go… Got Mac on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit a nice contribution, as well… An okay verse from P, here, on tha 3rd verse; nice lineup, tho not tha best song fa me… My Rating: 3.3

03. “Hail Mary” feat. Magic
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Thought I heard this before but on P’s CD, he had it in his hook… Still, nice job from C on tha hook, not ta be confused…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good; feelin’ C at all times! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice ta contribute ta this, as well, C; good shit… Magic on tha 3rd verse, here, stayin’ “strong” & consistent wit tha contributions; nice! My Rating: 4.3

04. “I Don’t Want You No More” feat. Mr. Serv-On
Producer: Mark After Dark
>>> Oh boy, tha spoken-word rappin’ ta join Silkk; here’s Serv-On! It’s an iffy-soundin’ 1st verse; can’t really dig tha flow or dry beat… Tha hook sounds like anotha remake or somethin’; ehh, no comment… Got C on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some okay shit; nothin’ crazy, tho… Oh boy, spoken-word verse, Part 2, wit Silkk! Damn, double trouble!! My Rating: 2.5

05. “Soldier ‘Til I Die” feat. D.I.G. & Magic
Producer: Suga Bear
>>> Some betta-soundin’ music, here; nice hook wit D.I.G., here! Hearin’ him on tha 1st verse & it sounds dope; consistent quality, here! “Shmoke like herb, ya dig?” Luvin’ all tha “ya dig?” shit! Even got C hoppin’ onto tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, just repeatin’, “I’m a soldier till tha day that I die;” dope! A 3rd part from Magic, here, soundin’ aggressive & dope; good shit! Outro from P, here, soundin’ like it would be an outro to a CD, rather than this part of tha CD… My Rating: 4.3

06. “Buss That” feat. Mia X
Producer: KLC
>>> Hyped-up, here, on tha intro & beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Mia & it’s nice, here; gotta dig her…! Now, when I think of her, I can’t believe just today, I discovered a “masturbation poet,” based off a review I did fa her, three years ago! Shit’s nice! Tha hook’s pretty intense, here; luvin’ tha gunshots & chants! Energy at its finest! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s pretty nice, here; good shit! Even if it sounds a lil’ spoken fa Silkk, I hear tha aggression; definitely nice! My Rating: 4.4

07. “Don’t Fuck With TRU”
Producer: KLC
>>> C on tha hook, here, soundin’ nice wit this beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from C & it sounds nice; good job, as always! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Silkk, here; diggin’ tha rapid-fire flow fa tha 2nd verse, here… P on tha 3rd verse, here, as he calls himself a “lottery;” nice! Feelin’ his energy & dat “Hoody Hooo”ness! My Rating: 4.2

¾time: This sounds a lil’ betta, as there’s more consistent tracks, here; good job, y’all! A 3.9-rated CD, here; keep it up!

08. “Never” feat. D.I.G., Baby Soldier & Reginelli
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> I feel this as P preaches ta “neva take a knife to a gunfight;” real shit… Tha beat’s pretty nice, as well as how P held tha hook down & now, we got tha 1st verse… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good; nice & quick… Got D.I.G. on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit aggressive shit; nice job! Keepin’ it movin’ wit Reg on tha 3rd verse, doin’ tha damn thang, as well; nice job! My Rating: 4.3

09. “R.I.P. Kevin” feat. O’Dell & Porsha
Producer: O’Dell
>>> This ain’t gonna be fa me; sad hook from tha features, here, as well as tha beat… Afta over a minute, here comes P on tha 1st verse, comin’ through wit his real-life rhymes; no interest fa me… Got Silkk on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through as…, well…, kinda just speakin’… Got C on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit a decent lil’ verse. Like I say, I don’t like tha sad songs; deal with enough, day & day… My Rating: 2.1

10. “Bounce To This” feat. Big Ed
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Sounds like an upbeat hook; feelin’ tha vibe, here… Silkk doin’ a nice job on tha hook & transitionin’ to tha 1st verse, doin’ a great job! Feelin’ his fast flow, this time! Got Big Ed on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through like a No Limit soulja, of course… My Rating: 3.9

11. “It’s A Beautiful Thing” feat. Snoop Dogg
Producer: Meech Wells
>>> I like how Snoop seems excited ta be wit “No Limit Records,” as he says, in tha intro… Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Snoop & it’s nice. Yeah, this more on tha west side, as far as tha vibe goes; not depressin’, at least! Sounds like an okay hook; all about tha beauty, I guess? I like how C’s comin’ through on tha 2nd verse, nice & “high,” here; good shit! My Rating: 3.8

12. “The World Is Yours”
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Beat sounds pretty grimy, here; nice shit… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s nice from Silkk, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & Silkk got this spoken vibe on lock, this time…; sounds betta wit a tight beat, at times… Mo shit from Silkk on tha 2nd verse, here… Felt it betta on tha 1st verse but this still nice… I luv how a 3rd verse iz tryna squeeze on tha fade-out, seven seconds left on tha track…! My Rating: 4.0

13. “We Riders”
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Sounds like a nice hook from C, as well as this nice beat…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good; G-shit at its finest! Mo shit from C on tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ dope wit tha aggression & shit; gotta luv him! My Rating: 4.3

14. “Prayer For A G”
Producer: Beats By The Pound
>>> Beat ain’t so sad but tha 1st verse from Silkk kinda has it, in tha content… Not feelin’ this flow; everything seems so random… Fuck this; not interested… Finally, at 2:26, a lil’ bit of a singin’, on a hook? Too late… My Rating: 1.3

15. “TRU Homies (Radio Version)”
