Broadcasting from tha Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike, here in Wells Tannery, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog here, sadly reportin' anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community (special edition).
Today, April 18, 2018, marks 24 years since tha murder of Edgar Givens, known in tha undaground, Louisiana rap scene as Pimp Daddy. Givens was born in 1976 and was from New Orleans. An early artist signed with Cash Money Records, Givens released his debut album, Still Pimpin', in 1993. Lookin' like he had a bright future ahead of him, unfortunately, tha good times were short-lived for Givens. In tha Florida projects in New Orleans on April 18, 1994, Givens was fatally shot and killed at point-blank range. Many believe a musical love triangle resulted in Givens' death; Rodney Temple was charged with life in murdering Givens. During his Cash Money time, Givens was said to be dating labelmate, Ms. Tee. However, another labelmate, Cheeky Blakk, claimed that Givens was tha father of her child. Needless to say, Givens was in an argument with Ms. Tee's brother. That's when Givens was shot in tha face and killed at only 18 years-old. One year after his death, Givens' 2nd album, Pimp'n Ain't E-Z, was released in 1995.

Broadcasting from Concrete City, here in Nanticoke, PA, it's ya boy, FrankieThaLuckyDog, here, sadly reporting anotha tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community. A special edition, today, April 5, 2018.
Today, April 5, 2018, marks 21 years since tha murder of New Orleans, LA rapper, Yella Boy. Yella Boy was born Albert Thomas in 1975. During the early '90s, Thomas joined tha rap group, U.N.L.V., which consisted of Tec-9, Lil' Ya & Yella Boy, himself. U.N.L.V. was one of tha 1st acts signed with Cash Money Records during tha early '90s. U.N.L.V. released their debut album, 6th & Baronne, in 1993. In 1994, they released their 2nd album, Straight Out Tha Gutta. In 1995, their 3rd album, Mac Melph Calio, was released, as well as Scrap Up!!. Their 4th album, Uptown 4 Life, was released in 1996. During 1996, life drew a hint of darkness for Thomas, as Thomas and Cash Money rep, Baby a.k.a. Birdman, started gettin' into it. U.N.L.V. was rumored to be dropped from Cash Money Records and Thomas pistol-whipped Baby. In a form of retaliation, many believe Baby killed Thomas. On April 5, 1997, Thomas was shot in tha head and killed in a dangerous drug deal at only 22 years-old. After Thomas' death, U.N.L.V. released their Greatest Hits compilation in 1997. After a four-year hiatus, U.N.L.V. returned in 2001 with their 5th album, The Return of U.N.L.V.: Trend Setters, on Blazin' South Records. In 2003, U.N.L.V. hit tha streets with their 6th album, Keep It Gutta, courtesy of B Real Entertainment. In 2004, U.N.L.V.'s 7th album, Gutta 4 Life, was also released on B Real Entertainment.

Up
pretty early, here… It’s Groundhog Day & I finna hit my 40,000th
mile on my car, as soon as I go to work! Here goes my review for PxMxWx A
New Beginning, released in 1997 on Cash Money Records! Start Time: 2:02 AM | End Time: 2:37 AM
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0
– 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!
I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long
as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then
lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song
gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6
rating, I pretty much really love it,
as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I
hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type
before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything
after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening
to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your
vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’
topics), I’m not buyin’ it!
01.
“A New Beginnin’ (Intro)”
>>> Beat sounds nice and relaxin’, like you finna hit a blunt or
somethin’… Nice job wit tha rappin’; ain’t expect it… Thought it was just an
intro, but dope shit, here… My Rating: 4.4
02.
“It’s On” feat. M&M
>>> Beat sounds like it’s ready for undaground war, here; gotta dig
it! Tha hook’s pretty nice by just sayin’, “It’s on…; it’s on…;” nice! Tha 1st
verse sounds good ta hear, here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s
soundin’ nice ta hear, as well; props fa keepin’ it on-n-poppin’! Hearin’ tha 3rd
verse and I’m definitely diggin’ these fast, quality rhymes! My Rating: 4.5
03.
“Definition Of A Gangsta” feat. M&M
>>> Beat sounds pretty good, here, ta get through tha undaground, once
again… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ pretty grimy/gutta
wit these lyrics; gotta love it! Tha hook’s nice wit tha chatter in tha
background, as well as tha title part repeatin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it sounds like a deeper voice; pretty nice, here… A 3rd
verse comin’ from some rowdy person, here; definitely a dope surprise! That
voice iz somethin’! Definitely a nice job, here! “And, my girl told me…;” I
honestly thought this was a girl, at
first…! My Rating: 4.6
04.
“Big Man”
>>> More of a Mardi Gras feel, here—can’t believe that’s comin’ up
soon! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it has a different kinda jam/gangsta
feel to it, but more of a livin’-a-celebrity-life-type feel to it… Tha hook
sounds nice, as if it had an old school vibe to it… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it’s pretty nice, here. A Biggie tribute reference wit tha “Baby,
baby,” here… Tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ pretty consistent wit tha
rhymin’, here; definitely diggin’ it! And, a lil’ chant for “tha overweight
playaz,” toward tha end, who are “in tha house!” My Rating: 4.4
½time: Dope lil’ CD, so far;
gotta luv it! A 4.5-rated
CD, so far, but that’s no surprise when PxMxWx are in tha house! Definitely
lovin’ tha beats and y’all know how ta make that quality music fa tha
undaground!
05.
“King Heroin” feat. Devi D & Mr. Ivan
>>> A slower lil’ hood track, here, soundin’ nice… Hearin’ tha 1st
verse from you and you reppin’ dat “Louisiana”
to tha fullest, here, survivin’ tha dayz and soundin’ good… Hearin’ tha hook
and it’s pretty nice/catchy, like some Pimp C-like drug tunes (instead of
“country tunes”); good shit! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’
nice ta hear, too… Got tha 3rd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ dope,
too… Gotta love tha rhymes to tha fullest, too! I like tha “Bad Boys”
reference, too; definitely nice! My
Rating: 4.3
06.
“Take A Hit” feat. Poo Rock
>>> Consistent, fast rhymin’ ova a nice lil’ beat, here, as far as tha
1st verse goes; lovin’ it! A Jamaican-kinda hook, here; definitely a
nice twist! Gotta feel tha 2nd verse, as y’all “weed iz strong;” definitely nice! Consistent rhymin’ goin’
on wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ dope… My Rating: 4.3
07.
“Just Another Day” feat. Devi D
>>> Slow lil’ beat, here, soundin’ nice… Hearin’ tha 1st
verse and it sounds nice wit gettin’ through tha “hood life,” here… Hearin’ tha
hook and it’s okay with this female voice, “just” gettin’ through “another
day…” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t bad, here, “just” gettin’
through tha times… Here’s tha 3rd verse and it’s keepin’ this
movin’, here… My Rating: 4.0
08.
“Southern Love” feat. Devi D
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, here, wit a lil’ bit of a funky taste… Hearin’
tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice; can’t complain… Got tha 2nd
verse goin’ on, here, and it’s a nice lil’ “southside” representation… Likin’
how tha ending has, like, a “California Love” remake sound to it or somethin’
goin’ on, here… My Rating: 4.1
09.
“It’s Fuckin’ Wit Me”
>>> Hearin’ tha beat and it’s nice; can’t complain… Hearin’ y’all on
tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice wit what y’all comin’ with, here,
holdin’ it down… Tha hook sounds nice ta get through life, here, as tha
paranoid brain “fuckin’ wit [you],” here; crazy… Hearin’ tha 2nd
verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear; lots goin’ on in life! Hearin’ tha 3rd
verse and this real shit keeps it movin’…; nice… My Rating: 4.2
Overall: Dope, consistent lil’ CD,
here! As always, y’all do tha damn thang wit tha tracks, always keepin’ tha
undaground on-n-poppin’! I hope y’all still doin’ good, tho; hopin’ for tha
best!

Today marks eight years since tha sudden death of New Orleans, LA rapper, Mr. Ivan, and now, we're goin' to present you with a lil' tribute:
Today, December 19, 2015, marks eight years since New Orleans, LA native, Ivan Alonzo Newton, known in tha music world as Mr. Ivan, passed away from AIDS complications at only 34 years-old. Known for always wearing a hockey mask, Newton was one of tha early-signed Cash Money Records artists throughout tha '90s. After bein' connected with fellow N'awlins'er, Don B, Newton would go on to sign with Don B's Bang'n Records, where he released his 2nd album, Resurrection, in 1999, also on Don B Productions. Newton would then move on to form his own label, Mask Entertainment, and released his 3rd and final album, Chapter II, Page I, in 2004 on tha label. If Newton was still alive on his birthday, September 7, he would've turned 42, earlier this year.
