Review #1,334: Mr. Marcelo "Return Of The Big Homie"

Reviewed on 10.30.2013 (Review #1,334)

Next up, anotha N.O. supastar—well, more undagroundstar, IMO: Mr. Marcelo Return Of The Big Homie, with Jet Life Recordings! Start Time: 12:57 PM | End Time: 1:38 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. “Intro”
>>> Beat sounds good, here, and you comin’ through wit some shit ta ride through—yea, through tha hood. My Rating: 4.1

02. “Scarface”
>>> This sounds good. Because of tha title, I thought it was gon sound more darker on tha beat, but I’m feelin’ how you comin’ through wit tha rhymes fa tha hood… “Always,” Marcelo! “Always!” My Rating: 3.8

03. “Bossed Up” Feat. Monsta Beatz
Got some Beatz on tha feature, here… >>> Catchy hook and beat, here… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse, and you really “blowin’,” here, lol… Tha 2nd verse iz good, here, and I don’t mind all tha “money” shit, for some reason… My Rating: 3.9

04. “Police”
>>> “Slot machines” suck and have bad odds! That’s why, it’s all about Blackjack or Roulette! Catchy beat, and tha hook (wit dat voice) ain’t too bad… Good rhymes durin’ tha 1st verse, here; I think this iz catchy… Tha 2nd verse iz nice, too; always a paranoid Marcelo. :( My Rating: 4.3

05. “Writing’s On Da Wall” Feat. Fiend
>>> Great start wit tha beat, and Fiend kickin’ off tha 1st verse! Tha hook sounds good, too, strictly stayin’ motivated… Tha 2nd verse sounds good from you, too; it’s all about readin’ tha “writing” that’s “on tha wall.” I guess tha real title’s “Writing’s On Da Wall”? That’s what DatPiff says, but tha back cover says, “Written In The Wall”? Yuck @ tha 15 seconds of silence at tha end… My Rating: 4.3

06. “Joyride”
>>> Nice beat, and tha verses sound good, here. Glad you keepin’ it hood at all times! My Rating: 4.0

07. “2nd To None”
>>> Not anotha “Backstabbers” song… At least it’s just a beat sample and a “what they do” part. Tha verse ain’t too bad, here, and tha singer on tha hook’s not bad, but not listed… My Rating: 3.6

½time: So far, so good. Sounds like every joint sounds good and consistent! A 4-star CD, currently!

08. “Fly With Us” Feat. Curren$y
>>> Tha beat’s decent, here, but I’m likin’ tha coughin’ in tha beginning… Not bad wit tha rhymes, here, and Curren$y comes through wit some consistent rhymes. My Rating: 3.8

09. “JetLife General”
This one came up as #08 on tha DatPiff tracklisting, but I’m goin’ wit tha cover and makin’ this #09… >>> Beat’s aight; rhymes are good… Short and sweet, at least. My Rating: 3.7

10. “Celebration” Feat. Skip & B3
>>> Sounds okay, once again. These beats are startin’ ta be decent for me, and not standin’ out… Tha 1st verse’s good wit tha rhymes; let’s see how it continues… Skip on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some good rhymes. Let’s see what gon remain wit B3 for the 3—verse, that iz, lol! Okay, much betta ta hear a voice like this, right now! Sounds like a big bodyguard, ready ta be resistant to P.A.N.z! My Rating: 3.9

11. “Cruise Control” Feat. Corner Boy P
>>> Beat sounds jazzy, here; nice ta rap on! Good job wit tha 1st verse, here… Damn, tha back cover ain’t list Corner Boy P on tha feature? Good thing for this DatPiff tracklisting… Seems like a really-good “smell” in tha “car” during tha 2nd verse; I feel dat! My Rating: 4.2

12. “Roll Weed” Feat. Dee Low
I know of Beelow, so who this Dee Low dude iz? Tha DatPiff tracklisting says he goes by “The Diamond Man”? >>> Beat sounds regular; nothin’ special, but tha rhymes are aight, here, on tha 1st verse… LOL @ tha 2nd verse, which iz a descriptive introduction to this “Mary [Keyshia] Jane” girl… Catchy verse! My Rating: 3.8

13. “Friends With Benefits”
>>> Now, we get some coughin’? Sounds okay for tha start, here… Really just wantin’ tha “benefits,” here, on tha hook… Hearin’ tha verses, and this iz okay, overall… My Rating: 3.5

14. “Crazy World” Feat. Jason Lyric & Jerkaman
Nice collab ta end this off? >>> Beat sounds nice, here, on a slightly-dark tip… Tha 1st verse sounds good, stayin’ “fly.” Singin’s aight on tha hook… Got tha lyrical Lyric on tha 2nd verse, comin’ through wit some good rhymes; not bad… Jerkaman on tha 3rd verse (DatPiff has them in tha correct order, while they’re in tha wrong order on tha back cover). This sounds pretty good, too; nice job wit tha collab! My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Nice lil’ CD, overall; this qualifies as a good CD fa me, so nice job, Celo!

Review #1,084: Bonka "Free Style"

Reviewed on 11.25.2011 (Review #1,084)

Still goin’ through a lot, but I’ll give it an attempt to make it through tha reviewz… First up, Bonka Free Style, reppin’ for Da Goonz and Da Goonz Music! Start Time: 12:41 PM | End Time: 1:21 PM

01. YM Fee Skit
>>> Oh, I thought this had ta do wit a “fee” fee, lol; good intro. My Rating: N/A

02. “Novacane”
>>> You sound good off this beat; nice combo, wit some 504-livin’ rhymes. Side note: Iz my name gonna appear in a rhyme soon? Hope so! My Rating: 4.0

03. “I’m On One” Feat. Dinero & LG
This & #4 were labeled accidentally as #4 on tha filenames; I gon consider this tha real #3 fa some reason… >>> Decent; don’t like tha original hook appearin’ in here at all! Automatically deduct fa dat; no need for me to hear Drake’s voice when I’m tryna focus on Louisiana and tha undaground! I’m likin’ this 2nd verse a lot betta; feelin’ tha attitude hidden inside tha explicit rhymes, lol! Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, either; sounds too automatic wit instantly “shittin’” on people, as well as not failin’ at things… My Rating: 3.2

04. “They Say”
Guess I’ll consider this tha real #4? >>> Doesn’t quite sound like you, here, Bonka; a lil’ change in tha voice? Consistent rhymes; liked tha beat from #2 betta, though. My Rating: 3.9

05. “Niggas In New Orleans (Dat Kush)” Feat. Dee Low (Monsta Beatz)
Looks like it gon be pretty tight… >>> Sounds like an interestin’ song; real nice flow and kick-ass content!! Forget what I said about tha flow: flow sounds like everyone else in tha mainstream, kinda, but at least tha content’s on n poppin’! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; decent… My Rating: 4.1

06. “I’m A Boss”
>>> Good freestyle, Bonka style! My Rating: 3.8

07. “John” Feat. Flow
>>> Good start wit tha coughin’… Sounds real nice wit this Flow dude in tha beginning!! I thought you were pretty good in tha past, but it sounds like this dude’s really takin’ ova, here!! Wow, this iz stayin’ pretty gutta wit tha “bust tha nut up in her mouth” and err-thang! My Rating: 4.4

08. “Miss Me”
>>> Sounds decent, overall; kinda geared toward tha mainstream rap crowd, it sounds like, when it comes to what it sounds like. My Rating: 3.7

09. “Bricks” Feat. Fell & Taliban Bundy
>>> Looks like it’s kinda long? At least tha rhymes are keepin’ it consistent. Random dude rappin’ dat he got “too many groupies”? For me, that’s horrible when it’s dude’s that are either fake or do possibly nothin’ in tha music business. I had dat shit happen to me between my 22nd and 23rd birthday and ugh, it feels like suicide! Overall, this iz nice and consistent. My Rating: 3.9

10. “Ballin’” Feat. Lucci
>>> Sounds lame wit all tha “money” shit in tha beginning… I bet I can hear some of this shit from anyone else in tha mainstream, since it’s nothin’ new. Also, violent clips from tha unknown feature on tha 2nd verse? Wonder how they got violent without bein’ known? Glad January 23, 2008 will be tha last day I see a gun!! My Rating: 3.1

11. “Sunshine” Feat. Phil Mic
>>> Hip-Hop lyrics but too poppy and Drake of a sound for me. Phil Mic sounds a lil’ like The Show? Not too bad for his part, overall. My Rating: 3.3

½time: A 3.7 for tha CD rating, currently.

12. “Love My Drug”
>>> This iz worse and uncalled for! Didn’t know you like to suck dick, smh! My Rating: 1.0

13. “Lay Your Head” Feat. Dinero & Keith Jacobs
>>> Damn, original hook? Ugh!! WTF @ tha singin’ in tha 1:00 mark??? Fuck this! Got files to fix and college projects/finals to do! My Rating: 1.2

14. “Pole Vault” Feat. K. Gates & Jeff Johnson
>>> Damn, I thought I was expectin’ dance/techno music wit tha beat start, but of course, no; instead, “bitches on my dick”? Guess I’m in typical school, now! Guess I’ll give it a chance since K. Gates’s on this…; a lil’ catchy wit tha flow on tha 1st verse. Even though you’re all “sucky, sucky” on tha 2nd verse, it ain’t too bad… Tha 3rd verse ain’t too bad, either, but c’mon wit all this “hoes” shit. Truth iz, I don’t think I eva met a “hoe” in my life before; I think I talk to “girls,” currently. My Rating: 2.7

15. “Dickies & Rocking J’s” Feat. Slim Boogie & 12 Shotty
>>> Thought it was dance music again wit tha start, but this iz a somewhat-betta thing to talk about in a song… Then again, it’s kinda tha same wit tha “fuck bitches, I’m gettin’ paid” shit; hope I see some of dat money, soon, wit my services! Curren$y-soundin’ person all in this? What tha? Why this almost 5.5-minutes long? I thought this was a Free Style CD fulla freestyles? Tha rest ain’t too bad, but I can hear this from anybody… My Rating: 3.0

16. “Stop”
>>> Boo @ Sean Kingston in tha beginning; can I end this??? Thank God it’s short! Okay rhymes from you, but that doesn’t save tha song enough! My Rating: 2.3

17. “Goon Gang” Feat. LG
>>> Finally, some betta music? Took too long for someone like you! Good beginning from you wit tha catchy hook and nice rhymes; hope you stay consistent and not horrible like #12! LG on tha 2nd verse iz a lil’ blah, blah wit all these “bitches” he talkin’ about; pretty boring! My Rating: 4.2

18. “Hold Up, Hold Up”
>>> Boring beat sound but I think it could be betta wit you rhymin’ on it; glad your normal voice iz back, too. My Rating: 3.8

19. “Can’t Be Life”
>>> What’s up wit tha lame intro? When you say, “Niggas can’t get on shit like this,” don’t you mean, “Niggas can’t [not rap about money, tha word “swag” or hoes]?” Waitin’ for that moment! Boring beat, but good job wit tha quick rhymin’. My Rating: 3.5

20. “Speakers Going Hammer” Feat. Flow
>>> Horrible beat choice; feels like we’re under 21 or somethin’, smh! Glad I don’t trust people younger than me! A lil’ catchy but I feel so bored hearin’ this beat, especially for 3.5 minutes! Flow ain’t too bad wit his part; sounds like a cocky rapper… Ugh, “dick sucked” shit goin’ on here… My Rating: 2.9

21. “Fugitive”
>>> Horrible start! “Real rap”? Why, ‘cause there’s a lame-soundin’, pitched vocal sample that 23472304723094872340842073847320483204828402934803294023432809 songs have in it? Looks like you’re wrong! Once it’s not about money, swag, hoes, then, I’ll trust it! Listen to my CD; look it up: FrankieThaLuckyDog Within A Personal Point Of View; it’s on DatPiff! Even though it’s only my first album (yes, not “mixtape”) and I’m eventually gonna focus betta, I’m sure I gon keep rappin’ about “different” things! Rhymes are good, but ditch this beat/sample already! My Rating: 3.2

22. “Flippin’ Dat” Feat. Allie Baby
>>> Damn, you makin’ me flashback to those damn files I’m fixin’ (fixin’ everything I got from 2003 – now)? Felt like I looked at 2006 for tha longest time and now, you’re bringin’ it back wit this beat. Tha Allie Baby person sounds like they’re under 18…16, or somethin’? Not really my type; not too bad… Your rhymes ain’t too bad, here; nothin’ terrible, luckily, so it pulls through. My Rating: 2.8

23. “They Know” Feat. SK David
>>> “Get my Drake on” in tha beginning? Ugh, thank God I don’t take some of this serious! Not really feelin’ tha featured artist, here; might have to not go tha “Drake” route! Surprised when he said, “nigga;” he sounds white, here… Odd rhymes about “not carin’” about dyin’, here; very weird, but decent, at tha same time… My Rating: 2.9

Overall: Horrible 2nd ½, but mostly decent durin’ tha beginning; guess it’s time to go back to tha original-soundin’ songs wit original beats? Just keep makin’ weed anthems and albums; that’ll do it! I’m shocked to know that you had A-Tune in one of tha songs on here; I thought you were too smart to not use that shit? Maybe you were on every drug in tha world when you recorded dat? Hope you neva do dat again! Trust me, it’s not good for men in tha rap world to suck dick; usin’ A-Tune iz equivalent to that, in my opinion, ‘cause listen to how it sounds!

01. Intro
>>> Not really likin’ whateva dis beat intro iz; kinda Poppy for what I’m expectin’? My Rating: N/A

02. “I Am The Greatest”
Produced by Nick Fury. >>> Long intro… Tha beat’s a lil’ different, in a somewhat-catchy way, and you’re doin’ a nice job wit tha rappin’… I’m likin’ tha attitude, here, as well as tha hook! My Rating: 3.7

03. “Lane Switching”
Produced by A-1. Looks like a good title/topic. >>> I like tha smooth, ridin’ sound, here. Tha rhymes are somewhat-consistent, here, wit tha way they’re delivered on this beat. Definitely a good job, here, holdin’ down tha streetz and “lanes!” My Rating: 4.0

04. Skit 1
>>> LOL? My Rating: N/A

05. “Breathe”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> Not my kinda beat start, here. Catchy rhymes but not my kinda joint, overall. Ooh, tha hook caught my attention wit, “dat’s good weed; why cover your nose?” My Rating: 3.6

06. “Glad To Be Here”
Produced by Nesby Phips. >>> Ooh, FC Kahuna “Hayling” on tha beat, here; good thinkin’ wit rappin’ on dis beat! LOL @ considerin’ tha title “Glad To Be Here”. LOL, I knew tha original hook was gonna “be here,” lol, ‘cause of how you have tha title. My Rating: 3.7

07. “Before I Stack” Feat. Dee-Low & Nesby Phips
>>> I like how this beat sounds… As for tha song, itself, I hear some good, consistent rhymes, here and there… And, as far as tha hook, you stackin’ up, lol. My Rating: 3.6

08. Skit 2
>>> ROFL, it was, like, two seconds long! My Rating: N/A

09. “Gate Change”
Produced by A-1. >>> Nothin’ special, here…; not much ta say. My Rating: 2.6

10. “La La La”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> Tha hook sounds cheesy, but catchy. Not bad wit tha somewhat-catchy rhymes, too. My Rating: 3.4

½time: Only a 3.5-rated CD, currently; knew it would be on tha decent level.

11. “L.A.X.” Feat. Fiend
The Game title? Produced by Cy-Fire. >>> Very long intro, again? A lil’ Curren$yish on how dis sounds wit tha voice, lol. I dunno about this song, overall, but it’s aight. LOL, a feature outta nowhere? Shout out ta Fiend; lookin’ at tha back cover, now! My Rating: 3.5

12. Skit 3
>>> LOL, nice and spooky.

13. “Checkout Time”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> This sounds like a decent song; nothin’ special. My Rating: 3.0

14. “The More I Do”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> Not really inta tha hook and tha sample, or whateva it iz. This ain’t too special, either. My Rating: 2.9

15. “Step After Step”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> Even though this izn’t my style, I think this iz a betta-produced beat. Tha rhymes are betta, too; feelin’ what you bringin’ to tha table, here. Also, thumbs up ta your attitude dat you’re pursuin’, here! My Rating: 3.6

16. “Magic Show” Feat. Fiend
>>> Pretty-good, so far. I like tha “magic” theme, includin’ in tha hook. Also, thumbs up ta Fiend, comin’ through nice for you, here! My Rating: 3.7

17. Skit 4
>>> LOL, keep ‘em comin’! My Rating: N/A

18. “Memory Lane” Feat. Fiend
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> A lil’ on tha sad side; don’t think I’ll really go fa dis one… You sound like Ronny My, here, wit tha voice and rappin’; decent… You have a pretty-good vibe goin’ on, here, at times… Fiend even sounds a lil’ smooth wit what he’s bringin’ to dis joint. My Rating: 3.2

19. “Final Descent”
Produced by Trakk Sounds. >>> Not likin’ tha sample in tha beginning. But, my interest grew, a lil’, when you emerged at :18. Good job wit tha rappin’ although this beat could be betta… My Rating: 3.1

20. “This Is The Good Life” Feat. Fiend & Jean LePhare
Produced by Fiend; let’s see what dis last joint gon sound like… >>> Nothin’ really special; I guess this iz a typical ending-song… Lots of rhymes here that don’t have tha catchiest feel for me; they’re aight… Tha hook actually sounds nice from Jean; “good” vibe. Fiend’s on tha 2nd verse, spittin’ some good rhymes wit a smooth-ass flow. Overall, not tha worst… My Rating: 3.3

Overall: On tha back cover, it says there’s a #21, which iz a skit. But, it’s not here. Anyway, okay CD for me; nothin’ up my alley/special.

Review #883: Da Goonz "From Da Block To Tha Booth 2"

Reviewed on 3.23.2011 (Review #883)

I got anotha review comin’ up… Da Goonz, outta New Orleans, From Da Block To Tha Booth 2! Back three Springs ago, I heard of Da Goonz from Alex McConduit and his Big Boot Radio show, when they came through; I think I even called in, at tha time. I had asked Da Goonz for some music, but they wouldn’t answer me back on MySpace. Now, finally wit a CD out, let’s see how they do wit a review! I’m still lookin’ forward, three years later (BTW, it’s a 2010 mixtape to prevent any confusion)! Start Time: 5:19 PM | End Time: 5:59 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. 01. “Goon Intro”
Let’s hear it! For 3:12, it has ta be a song! >>> DJ M6 startin’ off wit an intro; feelin’ tha good attitude. Shit yea, “get some of dat kush and roll up!” :tu For some reason, I guess dat mood I had durin’ tha Crescent City Radio dayz, Da Goonz put me in a good mood, ’08 style! Glad ta hear some ’10 shit from y’all; sounds pretty good on this decent beat. It’s all about some good N.O. music, here; nice, consistent rhymes, in a way. Tha 2nd Goon dat raps sounds good, too, wit tha N.O. feel. My Rating: 4.0

02. “Barry White”
Let’s see dis… >>> Feelin’ tha beat start, as it emerged ta tha rappin’. Oh, I hear some “Barry White” sample in tha beat sounds; interestin’, this time. Good rappin’, consistently, throughout this beat; y’all keep shit poppin’ and interestin’. Tha hook sounds good fa a mysterious voice, too. My Rating: 4.1

03. “Come N Get It” Feat. K. Gates
K. Gates just followed me on Twitter; that was a surprise! Also, I got a shirt from my boy Jimmy The DJ dat says, “’80s Babies,” and his name’s on it. I’m lookin’ forward ta dis; let’s see what y’all got!! >>> Feelin’ tha start, here; Playaz Circle perspective, a lil’? Good job wit tha catchy hook, street style! Good job wit tha 1st verse; “hustle” quality at its finest! More of y’all on tha 2nd verse? I guess K. Gates was only on tha hook? I wonder how he found out about me? Anyway, mo good shit from y’all, once again. My Rating: 4.4

04. Goon Radio 1
Looks like a skit… >>> Shit yea, let’s hear what y’all got goin’ on…! Sounds good fa some promotion, via tha “radio”, lol. Keep tha grind goin’!! My Rating: N/A

05. “Think It’s A Game” Feat. Franchise Teif
Looks like anotha tight collaboration! >>> Kinda scared from tha beginning… Ooh, it picked up a whole lot once tha hook came in; feelin’ tha singin’ and content ova dis Vybe beat. Tha 1st verse sounds good; feelin’ these rhymes wit tha “front door” and how y’all keep it gangsta! Can just imagine one day, Alexia interviewin’ y’all fa her “Ya Herd?!”; dat would be interestin’!! Then, y’all would get hit wit her, “aww man, they are so good!” :) Good job wit tha 2nd verse; tight, catchy rhymes, here! My Rating: 4.3

06. “Gettin’ It In” Feat. YF Banga
Anotha collab! >>> Tight beat intro; slowly gainin’ anticipation through each track! Tha hook’s cool; y’all keepin’ shit on ‘n’ poppin’, ya dig? Lookin’ forward ta finally get y’all on tha radio! Nice job wit tha 1st verse; keepin’ shit consistent, lol, I always say tha same shit ‘cause consistency iz consistency, lol! Sounds like a newbie on tha 2nd verse? Must be YF—he almost sounds like Konfo, in a way; thumbs up… Nice job wit his street shit, here! My Rating: 4.4

07. “Blow This Money” Feat. Keith Jacobs
Think I heard Keith Jacobs before; let’s see how tha collaboration turns out! >>> Oh, he’s a singer… For some reason, I’m not too distracted wit tha singers on this review; I usually dislike them on other people’s CDs, easily. Tha rhymes are decent fa me, here; a lil’ on tha mainstream side… My Rating: 3.7

08. Piff, Dick & Rosé
>>> ROFL, this iz so short and lol @ tha short title ta basically say it all! My Rating: N/A

09. “No Swagg”
Ooh, lol, speakin’ of Alexia, goin’ way back ta October 2008 when I found this song on Boxden. I almost forgot about this song fa a second, lol. LOL, I had some mainstream sources back then; completely different, evolved world I live in, now, lol. One of tha 1st places I went wit Alexia was this hotel to get some Practicum hours for college. They were shooting a scene to a movie (don’t think it came out, yet?) up here in tha city of Northeast PA and I helped hand them stuff, here and there. As for tha song, originally known as just “Swag”, I think this iz a better title and it’s an okay, original-soundin’ song. When I played it on my iPod wit Alexia, I remember sayin’, “even though I’m, like, tha only one that has this song, I know it’ll go down as a memory,” and yes, it did! Who would’ve thought almost three years later, I’d review it and it would appear on a 2010 CD of yours? Regular rhymes on tha 1st verse but tha hook’s pretty catchy; a good “swag” song before I started ta hate tha term. Tha 2nd verse ain’t bad but tha 3rd verse’s a lil’ betta, “Goon” style, lol! My Current Rating: 4.2

10. “Switch My Hustle”
I like dis title; let’s keep it goin’! >>> Feelin’ this smooth vibe; I like tha slower-delivered rhymes from y’all, too. LOL, everything “Goon” goin’ on, here, lol. Tha hook sounds cool; really likin’ tha computer-styled voice! Definitely feelin’ these interestin’ rhymes, to tha fullest! Tha rest of dis shit iz good, too; y’all always got my interest, here!! My Rating: 4.2

11. Goon Radio 2
LOL, anotha one? Let’s see… >>> “Money investment” style, lol. I’m likin’ how y’all ‘started’. What about Vol. 1? Would like ta hear dat… Thumbs up ta bein’ “gumbo” and “everything,” ya dig? My Rating: N/A

½time: Fa only eight songs, I’m definitely feelin’ what y’all got, here! A 4.2-rated CD, currently; keep shit up!! Y’all got my attention!!

12. “Goon In, Goon Out”
Interestin’ title, here! >>> Kinda wasn’t sure of tha beginning wit tha beat but when I hear y’all rappin’, it’s real consistent, at a nice pace! Ooh, tha hook’s real catchy wit dis catchy-ass title!! Thumbs up fa these good songs, only clockin’ at two minutes long! My Rating: 4.5

13. “Hold Up, Hold Up”
>>> Damn, anotha really short song, lol. Tha beat’s nice and Southern and y’all almost sound like Pimp C wit tha voice, here, lol. I’m likin’ tha “smokin’” shit; good job, here… Fa only, like, one verse, good job! My Rating: 4.1

14. “Destiny”
Let’s hear dis. >>> ROFL, what’s up wit dis intro? Likin’ dat loud voice, lol! I think dat sounds like Tupac? This ain’t dat bad of a song; I like dis but not as much as a lot of tha other songs on here. Wait a second, tha rhymes are startin’ ta become consistent; good shit! Wow, I guess waitin’ helps? LOL, good shit! “Ya herds me;” Alexia!!! LOL! Again, y’all caught my attention! My Rating: 4.1

15. “All About It” Feat. LG & Franchise Teif
Let’s hear dis, too, lol. >>> Ooh, nice beat intro! Lookin’ forward ta hearin’ dis!! Tha rhymes are good, a lil’ mainstream wit how they sound… I like how tha hook sounds wit this singin’; I think this iz 3-for-3 wit tha sung hooks! Nice job; good collaboration! Tha 2nd verse has a good sense of combinin’ people’s names through rhymes; feelin’ it! My Rating: 4.2

16. “Back Of The Lexus”
LOL, tha title has “Lexus” in it, a somewhat-affiliated name of Alexia, lol; how much more Alexia’d will this review become? :tu >>> A lil’ smoother wit tha beat, here; kinda soundin’ like some East Coast-type shit. Tha hook sounds good; I like tha lyrics, between tha “smokin’” and tha vision of bein’ in a car. Tha 1st verse sounds like tha flow iz hella catchy! Good job wit all these combinations, makin’ tha beat become listenable fa me! Tha rest of dis ain’t too bad, but I’m still likin’ tha picture I have in my head of listenin’ ta dis joint! My Rating: 4.2

17. Goon Radio 3
LOL, anotha one! >>> Yea, I agree wit y’all bein’ “hot” (tight) wit dis shit! LOL @ tha J-Kwon “Hood Hop” beat in tha background; good choice! Damn, dis went by quick. My Rating: N/A

18. “Where They Do That” Feat. Dee-Low
If there was an “At” in tha title, I would’ve been like, “lol, anotha ‘Where They Do That At’ title,” lol? Lookin’ forward to tha collaboration! >>> This ain’t too bad; I can trust it. Kinda losin’ interest wit some of tha lyrics, as they’re kinda typical. This could’ve been a lil’ betta but it’s still tolerable… My Rating: 3.6

19. “Da Hood”
Looks like a good title; it even has your “Da” in tha title, lol. Let’s see what y’all gon bring here! >>> Sounds like some Big Boot Radio music dat sounds old; likin’ dis catchiness in tha hook! I’m likin’ tha better content in tha 1st verse wit tha somewhat-catchy flow, too; good job, bruhs (lol). Damn, dat hook (lol)’s pretty addictive!!! Good job wit dis shit, ya heard me? My Rating: 4.3

20. “Niggas & Bitches Know”
Let’s see what we all “know”, lol. >>> Sounds like a regular, decent song. A lil’ catchy wit tha hook; thumbs up wit how y’all comin’ through wit dis. Tha 2nd verse almost sounded like Curren$y, at first, lol; you know what it iz! My Rating: 3.9

21. Goon Outro
LOL, not long enough fa a song? Lemme see… >>> Sounds interestin’ fa an outro, here. Good disclaimer, in a way. Good “roll dis kush,” once again, too! My Rating: N/A

22. “Fuck Boy”
A bonus song? Let’s see… >>> Almost sound like The Alchemist on tha beat tag in tha beginning? I think dat was him; lol, how many years later? Like, six years since I heard dat tag, lol! Even though he from New York, it sounds interestin’ wit y’all on this beat; you know I liked Alchemist as a producer since I first heard him. Good job wit how y’all comin’ through wit dis street shit! My Rating: 4.0

Overall: Real glad y’all put a CD out, whether this iz tha 1st or 2nd time! I definitely deserved ta have dis (well, only an mp3, currently); good job and keep up tha great work!!

Review #786: Curren$y "This Ain't No Mixtape"

Reviewed on 12.28.2010 (Review #786)

Here goes my 9th review of tha day: Curren$y “This Ain’t No Mixtape. I know this was from last year but I didn’t wanna forget to review Curren$y before tha year ended. Start Time: 8:36 PM | End Time: 9:12 PM

If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. The Briefing
>>> For four minutes, this iz pretty interestin’ fa an intro. My Rating: N/A

02. “Get It Ya Self” Feat. Deelow
>>> Tha hook sounds good wit Deelow doin’ a nice job on it; likin’ tha title. I’m feelin’ your consistent rhymes once again! This iz even more consistent; you’re a beast, Curren$y! I like tha “while I smoke” part, too. My Rating: 4.3

03. “Blown Away” Feat. Deelow & Jean Lephare
>>> Sounds like a hot intro for tha beat. After 45 seconds of an intro, tha hook’s here from a singer and it sounds pretty good—as long as it’s just tha title. You’re soundin’ good on dis, Curren$y; good shit. This version doesn’t have Deelow? Did I not hear him? Or, iz he singin’? I’m confused… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Scared Of Monstas”
LOL @ this title. >>> Ooh, really feelin’ tha beat here!! Almost sounds like a scientist made it, lol! Okay, now, tha tracklisting’s goin’ in order. I think tha 1st three were bonus tracks. This almost sounds like tha old Neptunes shit I used ta grow up hearin’ on tha radio all tha time. This shit’s definitely nice; I like how you came through on it as well as makin’ it a “monsta” track, lol! My Rating: 4.4

05. “Elevator Musik”
>>> This sounds good fa a smooth beat; good shit here. I really like how you deliver tha hook; “all we do iz ride around and get high to it!” :tu My Rating: 4.0

06. “On My Plane” Feat. Deelow
>>> Sounds like a good jam wit tha positive-soundin’ beat, lol. Interestin’ about dis “high” shit, lol. Ooh, tha hook sounds good wit tha singin’, too; interestin’ song right here! My Rating: 4.1

07. “16 Switches Spitter”
Interestin’ title. >>> Sounds like a smooth song you can listen to and enjoy. Even though tha song kinda bored me at first, your interestin’ content and lyrics are keepin’ me awake and into tha songs, ya dig? My Rating: 3.9

08. “The Jets Son” Feat. Deelow & Jean LePhare
>>> Sounds good for a The Jetsons remake, lol. Even though a lil’ boring here and there for me, again, tha content’s keepin’ this shit a lil’ on an interestin’ level. My Rating: 3.7

09. “LOL” Feat. Trademark Da Skydiver, Deelow & Jean LePhare
“LOL”? >>> Likin’ what you got here wit tha consistent rappin’. I may not be too crazy about tha beat itself but you add some interest rappin’ on it. “LOL” @ tha hook; how random wit everything! Good job fa havin’ these featured artists on dis shit; thumbs up. My Rating: 3.8

½time: Sounds like a pretty-good CD; 4.1 for tha CD rating, right now!

10. “Sail On” Feat. Young Chris
Young Chris from Philly? >>> It iz this Young Chris; interestin’ collaboration, lol! Soundin’ pretty nice here on tha 1st verse; good job teamin’ up wit him, $y! You even have some good rhymes, too; good job… My Rating: 4.2

11. “Got It”
>>> Tha beginning sounds kinda quiet. Not bad wit this joint; your lyrics are catchy. My Rating: 3.8

12. “Power Button”

13. “Up Here” Feat. Young Roddy
>>> Sounds catchy wit tha beat once again. Tha hook’s pretty catchy, too; I like your “I-can’t-see” perspective. Tha Young Roddy dude on tha feature’s pretty good wit you, too. My Rating: 3.8

14. “Cook Up” Feat. Bun B & Deelow
Alternative title’s “Free Lunch”? >>> I guess so; pretty hot-soundin’ song! I really like how tha hook sounds; definite plus on this topic! I really like how you’re comin’ through on tha 1st verse, $y; good shit! Nice job wit recruitin’ Bun B on this, too; it’s all about that good, catchy-soundin’ music. My Rating: 4.3

15. “Food 4 Thought” Feat. Mickey Factz & Amanda Diva
LOL, Amanda Diva on tha feature; I just got tha chills!!! :) >>> This ain’t too bad of a song but sounds pretty good for one of those good, underrated mainstream songs. Let’s hear what Mickey has on tha 2nd verse… Pretty good; he sounds betta here wit his consistentness. It sounds a lil’ more catchy wit tha hook; I like how this hook sounds. Ooh, Amanda Diva on tha 3rd verse; glad ta hear her again! It almost sounds like a Jamaican flow, too! Very consistent wit tha rappin’; luv her pace!! :) I luv when I see her on VH1, appearin’ on various countdowns! My Rating: 4.3

16. “Galaxy” Feat. Deelow, Jean LePhare & Whodinsky
>>> This iz pretty smooth; good shit… “You hungry? I can check in tha fridge;” good line, lol. Tha hook’s a lil’ different but sounds decent wit tha singin’. I think tha content overshadows tha vocals. Tha rest ain’t too bad, either. My Rating: 3.7

17. “Look Up To The Jets”
I prolly already know some of these songs and have reviewed them in tha past. But, I’ll just re-review and make it whateva. >>> Sounds good; feelin’ what you got goin’ on throughout this beat as well as tha consistent rappin’! My Rating: 4.0

18. “Top Of The Money”
>>> Not bad wit how this sounds for a start; I think you got this shit on lock wit Monsta Beatz helpin’ you out on tha production! Good, consistent rhymes here; I’m feelin’ how you comin’ wit it, ya dig? Tha hook’s pretty catchy, too; good, mainstream music here. My Rating: 3.9

19. “Something Like” Feat. Street Wiz & Fiend
>>> Sounds like an interestin’ start. Sounds jammin’ once you start spittin’; feelin’ dis, too. How come at every :21, it sounds like tha beat was pasted wit a space? :confused Good rappin’, interestin’ concept here. Tha Street Wiz dude’s pretty consistent wit his rappin’, too. Tha rest iz pretty nice ta hear, too. My Rating: 4.1

Overall: You did ya thang here, Curren$y; nice lil’ jammin’ CD, ya dig?
