Review #1,965: 54th Platoon "Downtown Symphony, Vol. 2: Now...Till Forever"

Reviewed on 6.01.2021 (Review #1,965)

As I keep my reviewz goin’, up next, I have 54th Platoon Downtown Symphony, Vol. 2: Now…Till Forever, released in 2000 on Fearless Entertainment! Start Tyme: 6:45 AM | End Tyme: 8:01 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “21 Thugs 2000”
Producer: Sinista
A total of 7:39 on tha length for tha 1st track? This gon be a long, 15-track review! >>> Nice airplane noise ta start it off; I feel y’all with tha “clog” in tha ears… Nice lil’ intro bein’ 1:53 long; now, tyme fa tha track… Sounds like a combination of some New York-type hype, here; good lil’ dose of energy… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds like a bad view of intoxication? Gotta be happy & confident while fulla whateva! Either way, tha rhymes str8; I feel tha “dirty game like quicksand” line, as when you first “get in,” there’s “no way out”; locked in tha “game”! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it has, like, a Skull Duggrey-type of voice/energetic vibe to it; good street shit, ya dig? A long lil’ outro, too; I luv how this track iz 459 seconds long & there’s only two verses! That’s an average of 229 ½ seconds (3:49.50) for each verse, lol! My Rating: 3.6

02. “Fearless”
Producer: Sinista
Previously reviewed it on 54th Platoon’s previous release, from 1999. My Current Rating: 4.1

03. “Feelin’ It”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Anotha long track… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty nice with this upbeat street, 2000’s-soundin’ beat; gotta get “high”! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty nice with tha rhymes; gotta lay it down fa tha 5-0-4, of course! Keepin’ this thang movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here & it sounds good… Basically, it’s that hood shit with an upbeat beat; that’s tha best way I can put it. I’m likin’ how tha dude on tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse comes through wit it; that southern grind at its finest…! No 3rd verse…? Sounds like a bunch of chantin’ with tha hook… Okay, it was just a long, extended hook but now, tha 3rd verse iz here… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it’s str8; now, it’s startin’ ta seem like a long, non-Louisiana track, based off how this blends more in with tha New York-soundin’ vibes. That’s how I put it fa tha 1st track on here & now, this slowly brings that same vibe, especially with how long this turns out ta be… My Rating: 3.7

04. “Get Some”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Sounds like a nice lil’ vibe of party energy, here; good lil’ simple hook fa tha hood parties… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s all about tha “54”—that’s “5 + 4” to equal tha 9th Ward, ya heard me? Good reppin’, here; keep it up, y’all + Sinista! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s pretty nice, with this decent-soundin’ voice; can’t complain with tha 2000 game! Tha rest of this shit str8; just an energetic way ta keep it movin’… My Rating: 3.9

05. “If You Wit Me”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Anotha track that sounds cool with its energy; good hook & beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good with these rhymes; gotta hold tha streetz down…! Tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse sounds good ta hear, too; likin’ this voice slightly better, as we keep it goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s str8; nothin’ much ta say but to continue holdin’ it down… Tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse cool, too; gotta keep vibin’ “wit” y’all… My Rating: 3.5

06. “Downtown 2 Yotown”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Likin’ this party vibe with Sinista’s beat, here; diggin’ those synth keyz! Tha hook’s pretty nice; gotta travel from tha D-Town to tha Y-Town—“Yotown,” that iz! Tha 1st verse’s soundin’ good wit how y’all reppin’ tha hood-to-hood travels, here…; also, tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse’s cool, as y’all continue to strictly represent…! Hearin’ tha 3rd part & it’s soundin’ good with these continuous rhymes; keep ‘em comin’… Tha rest of this ain’t bad but it seems kinda long, especially tha long outro… My Rating: 3.7

07. “Allday, Everyday”
Producer: Don Juan
>>> A slower vibe but with some cool beat sounds, here on tha beat… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s cool; a lil’ bit of that good-soundin’ sing-rap style? Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s good with this street content; keep it goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse & it seems like this release iz just draggin’ to review… Just seems like really long verses & tracks, so I’ono how well my interest gon continue ta hol’ up… Keepin’ it goin’ with tha 2nd verse & it’s str8, as tha track continues to progress for tha hood… Also, of course, a long-soundin’ outro but behind tha hook, for tha end… My Rating: 3.4

½tyme: Seems like a decent release, so far; too many long jointz, tho. Lots of long verses & long tracks ta make this seem like a boring review… Currently, tha average rating iz at a 3.7; how will it continue?

08. “When It On”
Producer: Mikey
>>> Sounds like a good beat & beginning, here; nice energy & not-so-long length of 3:48—oh wait, that’s literally about ½ of tha 1st track’s length! Tha hook cool; gotta keep bein’ “on” game! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s cool; it just blends with tha hook with non-stop rappin’, basically. Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & tha energy continues; good shit… I see how tha title’s “When It On” but it says, “It’s”; should it have been “It’s”? I think so; too bad tha distributors ain’t think tha same… My Rating: 3.8

09. “N.D.T.”
Producer: Don Juan
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ anthem; tha title stands for “Niggaz, Dogz, Thugz”, based off tha hook? If so, that’s a cool acronym & tha beat pretty nice fa tha 5-0-4 parties, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds nice; just anotha way of representin’ non-stop, basically. Keepin’ it goin’, as I transition to tha ½ point of tha track & again, it just seems kinda long. Hearin’ tha sampled melody at 2:56 & it’s a good transition, at least; I feel tha energy better, now… Then again, tha rest iz just chantin’ & tha beat continuin’; cool but a lil’ long… My Rating: 3.8

10. “Take It Off”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Sounds like anotha anthem; catchy hook fa those that are willin’ to undress…! Great anthemic beat, Sinista; 54th, let’s go! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & tha energy’s nice; keep tha vibe up! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s cool with tha energy, as tha track continues ta hold it down…! Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, here, with just as much energetic contributions as tha other verses; good shit, as I enjoyed this without feelin’ like it was too long. My Rating: 4.2

11. “Hennessy Nights”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Sounds like an okay beat fa tha hoodz, here; likin’ those “marijuana dayz” ta kick tha hook off…! Tha hook str8; not much else ta say about it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; I feel like this gon be a lil’ too long of a track, tho. Keepin’ this track movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, soundin’ good with tha shmoked-out vibes, at least. Good rhymes as tha track continues but tha length of these verses make me doze off… Like, tha outro beat has ta be 81 seconds long? I mean, cool beat but it’s literally like it’s tyme for a break every song or somethin’… My Rating: 3.6

12. “High Life”
Producer: Don Juan
>>> Beat sounds like it’s closer to a West Coast-soundin’ style than a N’awlinz one… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; luckily, this ain’t too bad on tha length (4:08), so hopefully, it won’t seem too-too long. Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse & it sounds like a big, continuous middle finger with all tha “fuck” attitudes, lol. Hearin’ tha hook part & I literally thought it was tha 2nd verse comin’ in; transitioning seems like it blends in too much? Also, spoken words to cover over tha hook part, on tha hook? I’ono ‘bout dat… Hearin’ tha actual 2nd verse & it’s aight; I mean, I’m not gonna jump for tha starz but it’s str8… My Rating: 3.5

13. “Slow Down”
Producer: Don Juan
>>> I’ono about this “slow” vibe, especially bein’ 5:02 on tha length. I mean, if it was gonna be that long, at least be two seconds longer! Like, 5:02 + 0:02 = 5:04! Anyway, hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; it’s okay with that female in tha background but sounds like it gon be depressin’? Hearin’ tha hook & I’ono what ta say about it; just a female vocalizin’ tha hook like it was a G-Funk anthem, I guess? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it ain’t bad with these rhymes; glad they reminisce a laidback, No Limit vibe, right? That’s what vibe tha whole vibe of this track gives me, between tha beat, vocals, lyrics & background vocals. Hearin’ tha 3rd verse & it ain’t bad; just seems like it’s equivalent ta two long verses, when I hear how long these tracks be… My Rating: 3.4

14. “If I Die”
Producer: Don Juan
>>> Tha female in tha background of this track reminds me of tha track I just listened to, only a lil’ faster… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it ain’t bad; not much feedback from me, here. I’ono, I feel like I don’t wanna give anymore feedback ta this joint; just sappy, overall. If I had ta give more feedback, I’d say that tha hook okay/not really fa me. When I hear tha 2nd verse, it seems okay but it sounds too depressin’, overall. My Rating: 2.3

15. “Dirty, Dirty”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Endin’ wit a much-catchier, nice-soundin’ track! Hearin’ tha hook & it’s pretty dope, from tha “Dirty, Dirty”! Also, Sinista comin’ through wit a nice track fa tha hood, as well; diggin’ tha excitement in tha eerie, street beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s pretty nice fa how y’all hold it down fa tha streetz, here… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ like anotha nicely-rapped verse fa tha hood; good shit. Likin’ how tha flow sounds a lil’ more gangsta on tha vocals, durin’ tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse; git it in! Long outro, this tyme? I hear tha hook repeat an extra tyme—oh wait, repeatin’ a 3rd tyme? Now, transitionin’ to an outro; cool, I guess? Nice way ta end this thang off; luvin’ how Sinista adds tha eerie sounds to tha already-eerie vibe…! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Seemed like this was too long of an album, which wound up borin’ me more than interestin’ me. Beats seemed good, at tymes, but verses either seemed too long or too long of a track, overall.

Review #1,934: BZB Harris "L.A.W.S."

Reviewed on 6.06.2020 (Review #1,934)

Gettin’ a few thangz done, here & there… Got this review right nah from BZB Harris called L.A.W.S., courtesy of Bricklayer Entertainment! I first heard BZB back on October 16, 2008, via Beat Flippa’s Street Certified CD. BZB was “Beezy B”, at tha time & later went on to go by “Beezy B. Harris”. Now, it’s just “BZB Harris” & I’m lookin’ forward ta reviewin’ dis one! Glad dude found me on Facebook ‘cause that’s how I just connected wit him…! Start Time: 2:13 PM | End Time: 2:42 PM

01. “Real Stories”
This was tha track that was sent to me, via Messenger. Got ta listen to it & enjoy it, so now, I must review it…! >>> Feelin’ tha trippy beat intro; reminds me of YBN Cordae & his “Have Mercy” track, from last year…! I really feel your southern voice & how you come through wit these “stories!” Tha hook just bleeds BR, wit tha way it sounds wit tha beat & your voice…! Hearin’ tha verse & it’s pretty gutta, as far as tha content. “No lights in dat click house, servin’ through da windowz when they came through;” deep… Feelin’ your whole deep-down-in-BR-type vibe, when it comes ta makin’ a catchy track like dis! See, if those that are tryna be all “lyrical” this, etc., it’s like, make somethin’ like dis! Great voice, grimy beat, great flow; nothin’ borin’, here! I like how there’s no 2nd verse; it’s just a bridge, promotin’ your contact info & all dat… My Current Rating: 4.3

02. “For My Niggas”
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ track; nothin’ much ta say, at first… Tha beat str8, as well as this hook; reminds me of an older vibe, which I’m feelin’. Kickin’ off tha 1st verse wit “pop five or six jiggaz;” dope! Can’t wait ta “pop” my 1st one, one day! Almost did on June 22, 2017 but I was told I had fake ones, smh. Wit that bein’ said, your title/who you trust iz confirmation ta get da right “jiggaz,” ya dig? Feelin’ how you comin’ through fa tha streetz & who your day-ones are! Lol @ tha 2nd verse wit how all y’all “fucked da same hoes & [you] still cool wit ‘em;” nice. I’m feelin’ tha luv you bringin’ to ya “niggaz,” here; gotta luv your vibe! Gotta stay undaground & embrace dis shit to tha fullest, ya heard me? My Rating: 4.2

03. “Hands On It” feat. Chrizz Micheals
>>> Off to a shitty start, here…; I hear tha weird sing-rappin’ voice & “bands,” which iz a double turn-off… Tha hook kinda ehh, tho not 100% shitty… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it sounds great wit how you keep your organic, consistent style… It’s like, you coulda did tha hook/made it your style, rather than have a feature? Hearin’ tha hook fa tha 2nd time & it semi-str8; just not crazy ‘bout tha beginning part. Like I also said, I feel like you coulda did tha hook yourself… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s that Chrizz singer… Yeah, no way for me, here; ruins tha whole undaground vibe & it’s like you’re tryna look for a buck, here. Annoying voice of his; he not “tha muthafuckin’ man!” My Rating: 2.5

04. “Just Chill” feat. Chrizz Micheals
Oh no, back-to-back Micheals & not “back-to-back” jigga poppin’??? >>> This goes wit tha previous track, only without tha “bandz;” icky…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from you, here & you sound cool wit how you got these “hoes” ta be in “chill” mode; nice… Got tha 2nd verse from you (at least it’s you, this time!) & it sounds good wit how you blend your “stories” (like tha 1st track) wit your “Instagram stories;” good shit… Slowly draggin’ long wit tha lil’ outro from Chrizz, here; ehh, decent, I guess? Not so annoying, like tha last song’s verse… I like how you have a screwed voice b4 tha hook comes on, again… Regardless, this ain’t really my kinda track wit this singin’ voice; coulda done without, once again… My Rating: 2.6

½time: Lookin’ like a 50/50-type release, here… I’m feelin’ tha 1st two tracks wit your undaground, BR style but not really tha 2nd two… Fa this ½time update, it’s a 3.7-rated release, so far; keep it goin’!

05. “Love Me”
Producer: Mikki Gunz On Da Track
>>> Sounds like a nice beat, courtesy of Mikki Gunz…; sounds like a good hook, too. Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds nice; reminds me of tha Tha Carter II Lil’ Wayne, from ’05. Keep embracin’ yourself! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it’s cool; I dig how you keepin’ tha “love” to yourself, here; keep it up! My Rating: 4.0

06. “Beginning Of My End”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Oh no, not a sample; not too crazy ‘bout dis style, either…? Then again, Sinista doin’ this beat & it cool, when he dubs tha vocal sample… Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it str8; I digz your rhymin’ & tha dubbed sample… Hearin’ tha hook & it’s bleh; just sounds sad & sappy wit tha sample only… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it cool wit how you luv all this sex/fuckin’ shit, as well as how you transition inta gangsta shit, lol. My Rating: 3.6

07. “Fuck ‘Em” feat. Bezo Luciano
Producer: Mikki Gunz On Da Track
I think this title says it all? It’s like, why this name on tha feature? Coulda got some1 else? It’s like, when I promote dudes b4 they change on me, no1 else promotes ‘em. Then, when they block me, turn they back on me, etc., all of a sudden, they appear in, like, everythang I’m tryna promote (reviewz, videoz, etc.). Like, why? >>> Too bad I’m diggin’ dis; no comment on tha background vocals, tho. Glad Mikki Gunz doin’ tha beat, once again, as well as how you holdin’ down parts of tha hook… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good wit how you sound, here; lol @ tha “T.I.” reference (same “last name”). Oh, like my boy, Kmac, you “don’t pop,” but you “chew!” Yeah, “I’on Pop, I Chew”! Unfortunately, I had ta stop this at 1:38, due to I was blocked by tha featured artist, on March 14, 2020, fa doin’ nothin’ but promotin’ in 12-degree weather, where I drove 75 miles to & back, showin’ playlist luv & more! It’s like, that support deserves me bein’ blocked? Looks like he gotta come wit a blue bill, now ‘cause now that I’m in my 30’s, I tax $100.00 when some1 gotta get in they feelings & block me/start shit wit me. Always know: it’s neva my fault! My Rating: 4.1

08. “Make It Bounce”
Producer: Sinista
>>> Tha beginning part of tha beat sounds like Mikki Gunz, tho it’s Sinista, here… Sounds good wit tha “bounce” shit, in tha beginning (how you bouncin’); good shit… Feelin’ tha catchiness, here, courtesy of all tha bouncin’! Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse & it cool; I digz what you got, here… I thank this one gon be my top-rated one on here… I added “Real Stories” ta my playlist, recently, but I feel like dis one gon overshadow it, when I add it? We’ll see… Fa now, got tha 2nd verse & it’s soundin’ nice; I like how Sinista adds those keys, as tha verses progress! My Rating: 4.4

Overall: I was definitely feelin’ tha tracks that had tha quality that I like… It’s just, because there’s not that many tracks, tha lower-rated tracks weigh in more than if there were, like, 18 tracks on this release. With that bein’ said, it only turned into a lil’ bit of an above-average review, though I really feel your undaground, slum-livin’ vibes of BR, here…

Rankings:

08. “Hands On It” feat. Chrizz Micheals 2.5
07. “Just Chill” feat. Chrizz Micheals 2.6
06. “Beginning Of My End” 3.6

04. “Fuck ‘Em” feat. Bezo Luciano 4.1

I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. >>> Good lil’ beat, here; all about tha “Superstars,” as tha Hog says, on tha 1st verse…! Tha hook sounds pretty catchy; likin’ how he sings, “Us…!” Y’all know what it iz wit tha catchy, hood, club shit fa tha N.O.! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse & it sounds nice ta hear, as well; gutta shit! “Been a soulja, nigga, since ’77;” props on tha birthyear! Nice beat interlude before tha 2nd verse, as well; “Tha Block Is Hot”! Gotta luv this 2nd verse, too; great job, y’all! Sinista a fool on da beats & non-stop hi-hats!! Here comes tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse & it sounds great fa tha streetz, once again! Definitely pure quality of tha Boot, here! My Rating: 4.8

05. “Bad & Bold” (Mr. Marv Solo)
>>> Beat’s definitely nice, here, as well as Marv doin’ tha damn thang on tha 1st verse…! Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds catchy fa tha hoes, here—oh wait, fa tha gangstaz, mainly! You can put tha “bad” in front of “bitches,” tho! With that bein’ said, keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, fa tha gangstaz! Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here & it’s pretty nice, as well; y’all know what it iz! Gotta dig & agree wit tha outro, too: “Might as well call tha Minista ‘cause y’all just got killed by tha Sinista;” nice way of rhymin’ ta “Sinista” & his former full stage name! My Rating: 4.3

Definitely nice ta continue dis shit…! My Rating: 4.4

½time: This CD definitely goes off, in a major way!! Dope shit fa tha undaground, here, as this CD’s currently worth a 4.4!! Sinista, you know how ta hook these boyz up!! Keep it up!!

My Rating: 4.5

10. “Me & You” feat. Lil’ P

Tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse’s dope, as well! “Reebok, black Girbauds;” you know what it iz! If that his dress code everyday, you know I stay fresh everyday, even when I sleep! You know what it iz! Keepin’ it goin’ wit a youngin on tha 2nd verse, here, doin’ a decent/good job… Got tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse, soundin’ betta ta hear, here…; good shit… No 3rd hook? Str8 to a 3rd part of tha 2nd verse, keepin’ shit nice from Marv, here… Tha 3rd hook plays toward tha end, at least; credit received from me… My Rating: 4.0

11. “ATF” (Lil’ Mike Solo)
>>> Oh boy, sounds like Rugrats in tha beginning of that sample? “A baby’s gotta do what a baby’s gotta do!” Lol? Either way, this beat’s pretty cool & so iz tha hook…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds good fa this teen-soundin’ rap fa tha undaground… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ nice & flowin’ nicely on this beat… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on & Mike keepin’ this “ATF”’d track comin’…; good shit, even tho a really short verse… My Rating: 4.1

12. “No More Dreams (Radio Version)”
See #6 fa tha review…

13. “Outro”
>>> Likin’ tha “No More Dreams” beat ta back dis up…! Hearin’ tha outro & this a good lil’ shout out list. Not as catchy as all tha “bruh” dialect in tha intro, tho it still good… My Rating: N/A

Overall: Boss Hog + Mr. Marv + Deez D + LT. UG + Lil’ Mike x Sinista (yes, multipled by Sinista) = DEFININ’ HEAT fa tha undaground of tha N.O., right chea!! Y’all tore this bitch up, in all wayz possible!! Great job, here; haven’t reviewed an old CD where all tha songs were 4.0’s in a lil’ minute, ya heard me?! Great job but major props ta Sinista fa depictin’ tha best vibe!! Hope all y’all still out chea doin’ it big, like this time, fa tha 2020!
