Review #1,864: Kane & Abel "Rise To Power"

Reviewed on 12.15.2019 (Review #1,864)

Finally on tha house arrest system & am a lil’ more caught up with some of tha things I needed to do, b4 tha year ends… For now, back to my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon: Kane & Abel Rise To Power, released in 1999 on Elektra Entertainment & Most Wanted Records. Start Time: 6:20 AM | End Time: 7:21 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Parental Advisory
>>> Yeah, gotta have this “Parental Advisory” warning to those so-called normal people who take shit so literal! I know how it be, in my autistic wayz…! My Rating: N/A

02. “Rise To Power”
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Sounds like good production; nice lil’ intro & 1st verse goin’ on, here… Tha hook sounds pretty political, as well as a lil’ bit of a Jamaican-soundin’ flow? Nice… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice; good shit… I like how “Boss Playa” makes a random appearance about tha “weed” & says, “Nigga, hit dis shit!” Of course, “Illegal business controls America!” An “illegal business” got me in trouble & now, they’re facin’ some controversy, as we speak! Karma’s a bitch!! My Rating: 4.2

03. “The Possibility”
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Definitely feelin’ this laidback sound in tha beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; laidback, dope-soundin’ flowin’! Tha hook sounds good ta flow, here; mixes right inta tha verses… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and I’m diggin’ tha consistency of tha rhymes; good shit! My Rating: 4.2

04. Tony Manteca 1 (Interlude)
>>> A car scene wit Puerto Ricans… With everything goin’ on wit my charge, I’m not really in a Spanish-type mood… My Rating: N/A

05. “Get Cha Weight Up” feat. Boss Playa & Ghinn
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> A nice, upbeat-soundin’ beat, here… Looked online and ain’t realize Lunatic passed away! Gotta look up more info on dat; R.I.P.! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Boss Playa & it’s soundin’ jammin’; great undaground vibes, here…! Hook sounds pretty upbeat, as well; go get it! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s good; gotta luv this undaground, borderline-mainstream vibe! Got Ghinn on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some nice shit; all about da gutta life of tha 5-0-4! My Rating: 4.2

06. “Beat It Up” feat. Skandalust
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Definitely diggin’ tha bunny-jumpin’ beat sound! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s nice; “ass” censored? Porque? Damn! Random clean version… Still, it’s an okay, jammin’-soundin’ flow… Tha hook sounds good; all about a club banga… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and this jammin’ flow continues… Got Skandulust on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit some nice shit; aggressive! My Rating: 4.0

07. “Straight Thuggin’” feat. Twista & Solé
Producer: C. “Tricky” Stewart
>>> Beat’s pretty hype! Blendin’ in nicely fa tha N.O., here, especially wit Twista’s fastness on tha 1st verse! Tha hook sounds nice; all about tha “thuggin’!” Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ consistent wit tha rhymes; good shit… Solé a female, here, on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit nice rhymes; good shit, as well… My Rating: 4.1

08. “Get Cha Mind Right”
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ anthem, on a regular note; nice hook & beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s for tha “club,” here; good shit… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, soundin’ pretty nice; props fa keepin’ it goin’… My Rating: 4.1

09. Tony Manteca 2 (Interlude)
>>> More Spanish interludes… My Rating: N/A

10. “I Don’t Care” feat. Aaron Hall
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> An okay beat, here, on a slower tip… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds okay/good wit these rhymes… Bringin’ anotha non-Louisiana artist on tha track, here (Aaron Hall) but it’s good with tha singin’, on tha hook… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s ehh…; a lil’ boring but not too bad… A long amount of singin’, afta tha 2nd hook… I’ono, I guess tha boringness continues… My Rating: 3.7

½time: Most of this CD’s goin’ in tha same direction, as far as excitement/scores… Keep up tha great work, guys! A 4.1-rated CD, so far…!

11. “Let ‘Em Come” feat. The Medicine Men & Lunatic
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Beat’s cool, here; tha hook’s pretty gutta! Gotta feel it! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good; y’all know what it iz! Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ nice ta hear, here… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, soundin’ pretty nice; all about that N.O. spice! My Rating: 4.2

12. “States Evidence” feat. Boss Playa, Ghinn, Skandalust & Tommy Two Face
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> Beat’s nice & upbeat, here; feelin’ what’s goin’ on… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it’s jammin’; let’s keep it goin’… Got tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse from Skandulust, here, soundin’ pretty aggressive! Here comes tha 3rd part of tha 1st verse, soundin’ nice; all about tha streetz! Good job, Boss Playa! Here comes tha 2nd verse, in honor of tha judge, from Tommy Two Face, soundin’ good… Got tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse goin’ on, now, soundin’ good fa tha streetz, here… Wow, just ended outta nowhere; thought there woulda been more…! My Rating: 4.1

13. “Let Them Hands Go”
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> Beat’s pretty nice; feelin’ tha intensity it brings! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good, here… Seems like this track’s goin’ quick, as we’re now on tha hook; sounds nice! All about usin’ “them hands!” Got tha 2nd verse and it’s nice ta hear, as well; nice and quick… Tha rest of this pretty nice, as y’all keep tha energy comin’… My Rating: 4.3

14. “Show Me What Cha Workin’ With”
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Sounds good wit mo energy ta offer, here; nice hook…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; keep tha clubz pumpin’! “Sweaty” or not, gotta keep tha grind up! I know how it be! Anotha one wit quick verses, just like tha last song! Good; keep it goin’! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, as well; what else ta say about good energy? Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice, once again… My Rating: 4.2

15. “This Life”
Producer: The Medicine Men
>>> Sounds a lil’ depressin’ on tha hook, as well as semi-plain on tha beat, here… Tha chick singin’ ain’t bad but let’s see what else “this” has ta offer… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s not up my alley, with this real-life/struggle content… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and this sounds rough, wit tha content; “goin’ ta Hell?” Why…? Mo shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, here… Once again, this ain’t really up my alley… My Rating: 2.7

16. Lock Me Up (Interlude)
>>> Goes well with tha previous song, with its sad vibe… My Rating: N/A

17. “Hit The Block”
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> Sounds good wit this hook/beat; all about tha “black” attire! Off-white! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice ta hear; what else can this offer? Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ nice wit this shit, of course… Some gangsta-soundin’ shit on tha 3rd verse, here; gutta to da bone? My Rating: 4.1

18. “Hydroponix” feat. Dion Marshall
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> A lil’ on tha slow tip, this time… Hearin’ tha singer on tha hook and it’s okay; not too much fa me, tho… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and yeah, this goes well with tha other depressin’ song… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & honestly, in my opinion, this real-life shit can get to you, if you’re really goin’ through it… My Rating: 2.8

19. “Brave Ns”
Producer: Louis “Lunatic” Conerly
>>> Beat good fa tha streetz, here, as well as Lunatic on tha intro… Hearin’ tha hook and it cool fa tha streetz, as well… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s a scope on tha streetz wit these rhymes; not bad… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here & it’s okay; just regular-soundin’ rappin’ fa me… My Rating: 3.8

20. Jokes On You
>>> Nice kid… My Rating: N/A

21. “Get Cha Mind Right (Spanish)” feat. Boss Playa & Ghinn
Producer: The Medicine Men
Fa’real? >>> A lil’ weird; prolly would appreciate it more if I was Puerto Rican! My Rating: 3.5

Overall: Most of this shit kinda went together; not too different with most of tha ratings, except for when tha songs weren’t my style.

01. “True 2 Life”
We gon start dis thang off wit tha title track; let’s see how good you come wit it!! >>> A “grandfather” anthem for you here, lol. Tha beat’s pretty cool here; typical 90’s feel for Rap music. You sound pretty good wit tha shit you spittin’ here; real shit! Your “grandfather” gave you some motivation here in tha hook… Tha 2nd verse sounds like you’re tryin’ ta live betta (motivation wise); that’s good dat you’ve recovered and readjusted yourself! Tha 3rd verse iz you “tryna be heard;” good shit… My Rating: 4.2

02. “Welcome To My Mail Race” Feat. Aaron
Interestin’ title… >>> Sounds like a different, good turn of G-Funk fa me so far wit this hook. Tha 1st verse sounds like you’re just doin’ ya thang tha way you wanna do. Tha 2nd verse’s pretty good also wit how you comin’ up. My Rating: 4.0

03. “Survivin’ The Game” Feat. Crazy Dahmer & Legend Man
What’ll this be like? >>> I like tha Master Pish sound for tha beat start; likin’ dis! You sound a lil’ like Pac here; REAL TIGHT!!! I’m REALLY likin’ tha content of tha lyrics too; GOOD-ASS SHIT!!! Sounds like a feature on tha 2nd verse? Pretty good shit right chea but not as good as tha 1st verse… ‘Preciate tha collaboration! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty good on dis too but once again, not as good as tha 1st verse! My Rating: 4.7

04. “Keep It Real” Feat. Ghinn
That’s what you do so let’s see how you deliver it! >>> LOL, no intro needed! Just a good beat wit a GR8 organ sound and you spittin’ tha hook; real shit right chea… Tha 1st verse sounds pretty gutta wit how you comin’ through… Tha 2nd verse sounds good wit how you tryna create your status; I feel ya… Tha 3rd verse has good lyrics here; interestin’ shit for tha real-lifers! My Rating: 4.1

05. “187th Ward” Feat. Crazy Dahmer
Iz this what tha “187” means? It’s a “ward?” >>> Ooh, I’m feelin’ tha “bruh”s and tha talkin’ in this lil’ intro to tha song! Pretty cool beat here too; really Southern on tha feelin’! Really keepin’ it hood here on tha 1st verse and for dis joint! Tha 2nd verse’s “all about survivin’;” you said it! LOL, you gon “be tha shootist,” lol… Ooh, for tha hook, it’s dat Pac dude, who iz Crazy Dahmer really! Tight shit and now, tha 3rd verse iz back ta you here… Pretty good but I think Crazy Dahmer could’ve handled it… My Rating: 4.3

06. “Gone Left” Feat. Midnight Mike & Shob T
Lemme hear dis… >>> Tha beat sounds cool; I wonder what this joint’ll have ta offer. Pretty interestin’ on tha 1st verse; really expressin’ how life iz. Tha 2nd verse sounds like it’s off to a gr8 start! Thumbs up ta tha features!! Or, iz dat you? I don’t know but it’s soundin’ good! Now, I believe there’s a feature vibe here on tha 3rd verse and it’s REAL HOT!! These verses are gettin’ betta as it’s “two minutes ‘til midnight;” good shit! Tha outro’s pretty active here… My Rating: 4.2

½time: This a gr8 CD so far; you holdin’ down all these jointz right chea, ya heard me! Keep up tha GR8 work as you have a 4.3 average CD rating right now!!

07. “Murder Capital”
How will this sound? I know it’ll prolly be good!! >>> LOL, anotha one wit no intro and just DELIVERIN’ tha hook immediately, lol! Tha hook’s strong (of course, it’s tha “murder capital,” lol) and tha 1st verse’s good for tha streetz too! Tha 2nd verse iz holdin’ it down fa all tha street people too! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty gutta for tha streetz too. My Rating: 4.3

08. “Make The Phone Call” Feat. Crazy Dahmer
Looks interestin’ on tha title; I wonder how personal this iz! >>> Tha beat sounds like slow G-Funk shit dat’s pretty good. LOL @ tha “errrrrr” sound in how you spit tha hook, lol! Interestin’ shit, overall… Tha 1st verse’s pretty good just like tha hook, ya dig. LOL, iz there a feature on tha 2nd verse? It doesn’t say who but I believe it’s tha Pac dude but I’m not 100% sure; interestin’ shit, especially wit tha phone call at tha end! Tha 3rd verse’s pretty good also… Or, was dat tha remainder of tha 2nd verse? I dunno but I consider it tha 3rd verse ‘cause there was a break. Okay, it’s DEFINITELY tha Crazy Dahmer dude ‘cause I hear y’all holdin’ down tha 4th verse! Nice job alternatin’ between tha verse every two lines! VERY, VERY GOOD JOB!!! My Rating: 4.4

09. “Life As A Hustla” Feat. Rooster Red
I wonder who this “rooster” iz, lol? >>> This iz pretty laidback on tha beat a lil’ bit but a lil’ faster than somethin’ completely laidback. You were only “21” at tha time this came out? LOL, here I am at Age “21” doin’ a review for you now, lol. Good rhymes comin’ out chu in tha 1st verse! It sounds REAL HOT @ 1:38 wit tha “pharmacist” part; you REALLY held tha 1st verse down!! Uh oh, “Rooster Red” comin’ through for tha 2nd verse? Shit, it ain’t even tha 2nd verse and he comin’ through REAL NICE wit tha “slangin’” shit in tha lil’ break before tha 2nd verse!! He’s now on tha 2nd verse and he sounds pretty gutta and gangsta wit tha shit he be rappin’ about! It went right to tha 3rd verse here and it’s soundin’ good too! Very consistent here wit tha rappin’!! My Rating: 4.4

10. “Dead End Street” Feat. Edward J West
Interestin’ title here; I think I DEFINITELY gon like dis kinda song since tha street name’s a “dead end!” >>> Tha beat intro’s pretty hot; definitely feelin’ it! Sounds like you’re comin’ from tha struggle here in tha 1st verse; interestin’ rhymes as they’re definitely gr8 ta hear! Tha singin’ and tha content on tha hook sounds HOT fa this kinda song! I’m likin’ it wit tha G-Funk sound! Tha 2nd verse iz expressin’ how typical white people give typical black people trouble? I can’t exactly comment on dat. I just think dat people need ta worry about issues like tha environment and tha oil spill more. Wow, tha singin’s REALLY extreme at tha end!! It fits good… My Rating: 4.4

11. “To Be A Hard Head”
Let’s see what dis iz about… >>> Ooh, tha G-Funk sound sounds good! Good shit; interestin’ wit how you’re rappin’ on dis too. “Puttin’ your life on tha line” in tha hook; interestin’… You did a pretty good job on tha 1st verse; really for tha hood here! Tha 2nd verse sounds like a “hard head” featured artist, lol? It sounds good though… Tha 3rd verse’s pretty gutta for tha content when it comes ta tha “hard heads,” lol. Tha last 1:18 looks like it gon be a lil’ outro… Pretty cool; glad you shoutin’ out tha REAL big dawgs on dis shit!! My Rating: 4.3

12. “Shark Attack” Feat. Midnight Mike, Rooster Red & Shob T
BIG collab (even though tha Pac dude ain’t on it) so you KNOW I’m lookin’ forward!!! >>> Tha intro was cool but tha beat’s DEFINITELY in tha mood here; good-ass undaground/dark feel! I’m likin’ all tha “shark” rhymes in tha 1st verse; definitely good shit! I really like tha title and it pays off for tha hook! Tha 2nd verse’s on a “shark” hunt, lol! Good-ass shit and tha 3rd verse’s soundin’ good too!! Really “protected” here! LOL, tha 4th verse’s soundin’ pretty raw on tha voice here!! Almost sounds like Redman, lol! My Rating: 4.5

Overall: Pure fire right here!!! I think you came through GR8 for ALL tha hoods in Louisiana, ESPECIALLY dat 504!! Keep doin’ tha damn thang, “L”!!
