Review #1,850: Fire On The Bayou "Respect My Mind"

Reviewed on 10.21.2019 (Review #1,850)

Here’s my 1,850th review: Fire On The Bayou Respect My Mind, released in 1999 on Fire On The Bayou Records! Looks like a dope comp! Start Time: 3:22 PM | End Time: 4:34 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. G. Clinton feat. G. Schnider & N. Ceasar “Back Scratcher”
>>> Pure G-Funk sound fa tha beginning, here…! “I scratch your back, you scratch my back;” I’ve always loved that sayin’…! Glad it’s a part of this, right here…! Singin’ goin’ on, a dark beat; this sounds nice… I’ono, should I count this as a song? I think I’ll only count it as an intro ‘cause there’s no verses… My Rating: N/A

02. M. Tyler feat. Bigg Ramp “Fire On The Bayou”
>>> Oh, so they ID’d Mystikal as “M. Tyler”, here? Nice surprise, unexpectedly…! Hearin’ tha beat and it’s pretty nice; Mystikal comin’ through semi-calm but nice, on tha 1st verse; all about tha “fire!” Tha hook sounds nice, afta tha short lil’ 1st verse… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from Bigg Ramp and it sounds more cool than aggressive, at times… My Rating: 4.3

03. Neferius Mike feat. Bigg Ramp, G-Man, Illusion, Legend Man & Krazy “Gettin’ High”
>>> Sounds like an okay beat; almost sounds like a restaurant theme? Tha hook sounds good wit tha “shmokin’, gettin’ high,” even tho I’ono how much it matches wit tha restaurant-soundin’ beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad, here, strictly aimin’ fa “tha finish line;” nice! Tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse’s soundin’ nice from Bigg Ramp, here, comin’ through wit some good rhymes… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice, wit tha rhymes bein’ spit… Ooh @ tha 2nd part of tha 2nd verse! Feelin’ tha aggression! Top-notch energy while spittin’! Hearin’ tha 3rd part of tha 2nd verse and it sounds like a breed of C-Murder, a lil’; feelin’ tha vibe they bringin’… Endin’ it with a 4th part of tha 2nd verse, here, spittin’ some catchy rhymes; good shit! My Rating: 4.0

04. Sharp Shooter feat. Ken Real, Bigg Ramp & Cazel “Feel This”
>>> Tha beat ain’t too bad, here; tha hook’s okay, as well… Got tha 1st verse soundin’ okay, here; feelin’ tha undaground vibe fa tha Gz… Hearin’ tha 2nd part of tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice; consistent rhymes are great… Got tha next part of tha verse, here, soundin’ okay. As much as this was mainly okay, it coulda had more hooks? My Rating: 3.1

05. Skull Duggrey feat. Jazz & Jamil Williams “Keep It Real”
Big Duggrey!! >>> Sounds like a nice lil’ beat fa tha undaground lair of tha ‘90s… Hearin’ Big Duggrey on tha 1st verse and he spittin’ dat real gangsta shit; real talk! Of course, you can’t deny how he comes through wit his presence! Feelin’ how he “Keep It Real,” just like tha title say! “Episode 1, Paragraph 2,” as he also spits on tha 2nd verse! “I did seven years in tha pen,” as well as tha few he did in tha 2010’s; crazy life… “Snatchin’ out ya muthafuckin’ body parts, outcha car;” a true O.G.! Also, a 3rd verse from Skull, here, comin’ through wit tha real, once again! Damn, Skull! “Layin’ in ya own fluid;” gutta!! My Rating: 4.5

06. Neferius Mike “Streets Is Deep”
>>> Beat’s anotha nice-soundin’ undaground beat, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s good; I’ll give this southern shit props… Got tha hook goin’ on, here, soundin’ pretty nice, as well; feelin’ tha consistent rhymin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty nice, as well; can’t deny it… I’ono why but it seemed like this took a while ta end… Overall, kinda long but still pretty nice… My Rating: 3.8

07. Bigg Ramp “Whatcha Know”
>>> Nice N’awlinz beat, here, as well as tha hook; great job wit tha griminess! “Wodie, whatcha know about dat dere?” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good fa tha dark streetz of tha 5-0-4…! Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here; sounds like this anotha long-ass song… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse and tha vision of these rhymes’ pretty dope; Halloween story? Long beat outro, here, ta make this 5:33 on tha length… Lots of dope things throughout this track, so I’ll give it more props than just complainin’ about tha length… My Rating: 4.2

08. Illusion feat. Peaches “Gumbo”
>>> Beat sounds like a nice lil’ G-Funk start… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s cool; likin’ tha singin’ from Peaches, here, as well as Illusion wit tha “G-to-tha-U-to-tha-M-to-tha-B-to-tha-O” parts…! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty dope; Illusion got some consistent, dark, grimy rhymes! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty dope, as Illusion just doesn’t stop deliverin’ dat “Gumbo!” Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here, feelin’ what Illusion continues ta bring to tha table… My Rating: 4.4

½time: A 4.0-rated CD, so far; nice lil’ compilation of New Orleans heat! How will we continue…?

09. Rated X feat. Neferius Mike “Live By The Gun”
>>> Sounds like a dope-soundin’ hook; this title defines tha streetz… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice, wit tha way this story’s told… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ nice fa tha undaground, once again… Tha 3rd verse and tha rest of this sounds good, as well; not too bad fa an undaground song, here… My Rating: 3.7

10. Swamp Click “True Niggas”
>>> Beat’s nice fa tha undaground, once again… Tha hook cool; I fucks wit it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ nice, once again. Kinda reminds me of tha previous song I just reviewed, so we’ll see how interested I can stay… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 2nd verse and I’m diggin’ how tha dude comin’ through wit it; nice job… Sounds like a long 3rd verse goin’ on, here… I would say, this pretty nice; can’t complain, overall… My Rating: 3.9

11. Neferius Mike feat. D-Funk “Down South”
>>> Anotha nice beat from tha “south,” here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ okay/good; feelin’ tha energy… Consistent rhymes be soundin’ dope; props on those! Sounds good on tha hook, here; feelin’ what y’all got fa tha “south,” once again! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice ta hear, as well; props fa tha energetic “south!” A gutta-soundin’ 3rd verse, here; consistency at its finest! Gotta luv this! Who don’t luv tha “south,” here?! My Rating: 4.3

12. Bigg Ramp feat. D-Funk “Respect My Mind”

13. Tonto feat. Bigg Ramp “The Hide Out”
>>> Beat decent fa this track, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t bad, here; a lil’ laidback… Hearin’ tha hook and it str8; can’t really say too much ‘bout it… Got tha 2nd verse from Bigg Ramp, here, soundin’ pretty nice; thumbs up ta him, once again… “Rub ya ass like baby-baby lotion;” yeah! Not just “baby lotion” but dat “baby-baby lotion!” Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it’s cool; I’m diggin’ tha southern lecture… My Rating: 3.6

14. Neferius Mike feat. Bigg Ramp “Buck 2 The Bang”
>>> Hook sounds good; beat’s decent & this sounds like a southern gangsta tale? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like okay rhymes… Good story, just sounds decent fa me, tho… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ like anotha nice appearance from Ramp… Keepin’ it movin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ nice; feelin’ what Mike got goin’ on, once again… My Rating: 3.8

15. V.L. Trell “I’m A Lady”
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ G-Funk beat, here… It’s a lady, here, so let’s see what we got… I’m likin’ this hook, as she’s just like, “I am a muthafuckin’ lady;” nice and simply put…! Got tha 1st verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ okay/good… Tha 2nd verse kinda borin’ me, at this point… I mainly just thought tha hook and beat was cool; tha rest iz just draggin’… My Rating: 3.2

Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ good fa tha undaground, here; all about tha street life… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here & it’s not bad… This joint’s goin’ on to be 5:39 on tha length; kinda long… My Rating: 3.4

17. Bigg Ramp “Welcome To Valence”
>>> Beat nice fa tha N.O. undaground, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it sound okay; betta fa representin’, I guess? Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ okay, here… I like how Ramp protectin’ his “zone,” here, on tha 2nd verse; nice lil’ flow… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice, once again; good shit… My Rating: 3.8

Review #1,635: Threat "Drama Az Usual"

Reviewed on 2.07.2017 (Review #1,635)

Keepin’ it goin’ wit my next review, here: Threat Drama Az Usual, released in 1997 on Strugglin’ Strivin’ Records! FYI: Threat iz a member of Black Menace. Start Time: 4:04 PM | End Time: 4:52 PM

Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!
