R.I.P. Video #28: Ceddybu Da Rap Sumo

Broadcasting from tha-feeling-like-below-16-outside-Northeast Pennsylvania, it's ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog, here, reporting another tragic loss in tha Louisiana rap community. Plaquemine native Cedrick Smith, who rapped under tha name "Ceddybu Da Rap Sumo," was killed in a car crash on LA 75 (River Road) near LA 327 in St. Gabriel, just after 9 PM last night, Thursday, January 2, 2014. Investigators say Smith was tha passenger, whereas 23-year-old Wilbert Pryer was tha driver, of a 2013 Dodge Charger. Excessive speed was a main factor in tha crash, as tha car veered off tha road in a curve, going through a ditch, only to hit a telephone pole; neither one of them were wearing a seatbelt at tha time of tha crash. Curious to know if Pryer was impaired, police took a blood sample and currently, his blood is being analyzed at tha Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

Ceddybu was known for being affiliated with tha late Baton Rouge rapper, Chris "Nu$$ie" Jackson, who was murdered nearly five years ago, back on February 9, 2009. Tha collective "Dope Celebrity Family," or just "DCF," made Ceddybu known as one of tha (literally) biggest people to come outta Louisiana. On July 13, 2010, Ceddybu made YouTube's front page when he was featured under tha "Videos Being Watched Right Now" section for a video of him being "so icey." On October 23, 2010, Ceddybu got his first spin on Frankie's now-defunct radio show, "Tha Louisiana Pit", with his song, "Remember Me". Ceddybu released his one and only public CD with Baton Rouge rapper, Delwin The Krazyman, Amerikka's Most Wanted, in 2012; he would've made it to see 25 this St. Patty's Day.

I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. Glad you still got dat “popped a few pillz” vibe on tha 1^st verse, here, Trakk! Nice job, and now, I’m hearin’ Big Wayne on tha 2^nd verse… Real glad he “fulla dem jiggaz,” too! Hope that neva goes away!! Always comin’ through hard, here!! Definitely luved tha verse!! Good shit you bringin’ on tha 3^rd verse, too! Gotta feel your consistency! A.K.A. Wodieson! >>> This iz an okay track, so far… I feel your message, here! So many from Louisiana have acted like they’ve “grown,” and don’t write me back, or call me, anymore! What kinda shit iz dat? I can’t picture ignorin’ someone! I’ve been so tied up, tryna get my future settled. It’s like, I almost was gonna ignore you when you sent me this CD. However, there was no way I could’ve… So now, I’m doin’ tha review for ya! Nice job wit tha 1^st verse, as well as tha hook, here! Got Wodieson on tha 2^nd verse, here; I’m likin’ his perspective on tha fakerz! I’ve dealt with a few people that fuck wit Wodieson that have changed on me. I bet he still cool wit them, though ‘cause he gets ta see ‘em in person, and I’m just an afterthought in tha wind. :( I feel what you sayin’ on tha 3^rd verse, here. Sucks when they shot “Kidd Kidd” back in 2011—even to shoot someone iz horrible and uncalled for!! My Rating: 4.1

>>> Sounds like a regular beat (but not like today’s shit) wit how tha beat sounds, so far… I like how you comin’ through on this, just spittin’ shit! Some of tha beat’s soundin’ a lil’ like typical shit, now-a-dayz (tha sound of it), as well as bein’ a lil’ plain, but you can’t deny it… Tha hook sounds catchy; keep it comin’! Strictly comin’ fa tha hoes on tha 2^nd verse, lol! Here’s LV on tha 3^rd verse, wit a lil’ bit of a typical, mainstream rapper-soundin’ sound, but wit a lil’ bit of catchiness, as he’s fast on tha beat. My Rating: 3.9

Who would’ve thought that song was 10 years ago! I was fuckin’ wit tha cameras, at tha time, where most weren’t, lol! Back when I was listenin’ to tha radio wit tha Top 8 @ 8 countdowns…! Nice job wit tha 1^st verse, too, $tackz; great wit how you comin’ through on it! Here you are on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit a nice, P-to-tha-U-to-tha-R-to-tha-muthafuckin’-P perspective, lol!! My Rating: 4.4

Not sure if I’ve seen him before, but I picture dreads, a grill & just, physically-shittin’ on niggaz! Got a lotta hits on here, Trakk!! Rarely do I get a CD and review it tha day it comes out!! Here you are on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit some consistent shit, here… Nice job wit this song, overall; anotha hot hit!! My Rating: 4.4

I like tha title… >>> You comin’ through on tha beat (of course); let’s see what kinda heat you brought ta this title… Sounds like a dark, southern version of an old track (that I can’t think of, at tha moment… *Sings* Din, din, din, din…). Sounds like a good 1^st verse, here… Tha hook ain’t too bad wit how you comin’ through wit it; gotta always keep it “real!” Too bad, those that obsess tha words “credit,” “real,” “blood,” etc. are fake. It’s like, you don’t have ta say it 1,000,000x!! I don’t have to say how “real” I am to people—I like usin’ tha word “official!” Just look at my works and how consistent I am, people!! I’m not like no other, and I mean dat!! Tha 2^nd verse sounds pretty good, too… My Rating: 3.7

No one wants to send me their CDs in tha mail, anymore, and if they do, it’s people who’s shit’s so old, or random dudes that are garbage/not special. I did have my day in tha music biz; I’ll admit: I’m not ‘hot,’ anymore! But, let’s see what you brought to tha table, here… >>> Another soft-soundin’ song ta end it off, here… Again, good job wit your honesty, here… Tha hook has a male sample this time (or, tha actual Songbird?), as well as rappin’ from you on it… Tha 2^nd verse ain’t too bad, but my interest iz kinda lost, when it comes ta laidback songs like this… And, like tha previous song, this has singing ending tha song… My Rating: 3.1

Overall: Real nice CD, Trakk!! Got a bunch of hits on it; I can fuck wit it! Not sure how many current reviewz I gon have after this one, but I’m glad I got ta peep out your new CD!

Got another review up next and I know it gon be way betta than tha previous review I just did, where tha artist sounded very mainstream-like for my Louisiana tastes! Unsigned artist from Plaquemine: Eddie Starks—who just requested to put his new CD on DatPiff—Power Move (The Mixtape)! I’m anticipated for this ‘cause Eddie Starks, to me, iz a rare artist; only heard three songs from him outta tha three years I’ve known him! Glad he ain’t on tha level everyone’s tryna be wit releasing almost 40 – 100 songs a year-type bullshit! Also, why a “mixtape;” why can’t this just be an ‘album’? People need to stop usin’ that word ‘cause mixtapes don’t stop with cold/fade endings, and usually contain mixing and hosting; learn, people!! Start Time: 7:39 PM | End Time: 9:09 PM

Tha 1^st verse sounds good wit how you put everything together… Can’t deny your rhymes, since they can be snuck into tha song well, unlike some random ‘90s baby screamin’, “I’m gettin’ money and hoes,” smh! Tha 2^nd verse almost reminds me of Plies in tha beginning, wit how you sound, but it’s still good… My Rating: 4.2

Did you say, “I like tha way you shiiiit,” lol? LOL! Hearin’ tha 2^nd verse and it sounds good like tha 1^st verse. I hear that part again before tha hook; sounds like, “shave;” forgot girls shaved for a second… My Rating: 4.1

I dunno why people think Max Minelli’s name iz a compound word, lol… Either way, let’s see what this gon sound like wit Zachary “Zone” Glaros on tha beat! >>> Feelin’ tha beat a whole lot; sounds like some quality, underground-type shit Kevin Gates would rap on! You’re on tha 1^st verse and it sounds good; if tha “money gon come and tha money gon go,” I hope you send me $100 to put tha whole album on YouTube! Ahh, tha hook has a lotta shit that doesn’t sound like it’s for me wit tha lyrics, but tha singing sounds good… Max’s on tha 2^nd verse, comin’ through wit some nice, in-your-30s-with-experience-type shit… I neva could fit in a “wifebeata…” But, I like when peeps wear ‘em; I guess I like it since it’s tha opposite of me… Hearin’ tha final hook and these lyrics on tha hook are startin’ ta bother me; no wonder why rarely anyone takes me serious… My Rating: 4.3

Hearin’ you rap on tha 1^st verse and your voice sounds a lil’ different than usual; almost reminds me of Sean Paul of tha YoungBloodZ… Tha hook sounds good wit how you deliver it; nice and catchy! However, it entered tha worst year ever (2011) wit me, and I think I only kept, like, 60 songs that I aired that year because I got robbed & my cousin died of a heroin overdose within tha final month of tha year. :( Bad memories!! But, at least I finally talk to you on tha phone, so we can make good memories now! As for tha song, just like wit “Down Here”, this iz real catchy, and Mouse does a real nice job on tha hook!! However, tha title ain’t for me, but this looks like an interestin’ collaboration; let’s see what we got goin’ on wit it!! >>> Well, tha beat sounds nice, but there’s a real weak beginning wit a gay voice, here. :( I won’t skip, but it’ll cost you a good portion of tha points, Starks! Hook’s hella gay between tha lyrics and how it sounds; if it wasn’t for that overlapping voice on tha hook, I would’ve skipped, since there’s a really gay a-tuned voice in tha background! Here’s tha 1^st verse; it sounds decent/good fa this Louisiana shit. Too bad whoever did tha filenames iz a dickrider, as they put C-Loc first in tha ID, instead of tha other dudes, smh! At least tha back cover’s correct! Tha 2^nd verse sounds okay, but they’re way too obsessed wit “money.” Bigg Loc’s on tha 3^rd verse; sounds like he’s a teenager/younger than me wit these rhymes… Not really into them, but it’s still listenable, in a way. Whoa, really distracted from Ceddybu comin’ outta nowhere on tha hook; can’t figure out what I’m typin’… Gettin’ in your veins wit dat voice!!! Nice and crazy delivery on tha hook!! Also, those lyrics fit this song real nice on tha hook; crazy!!! Tha 2^nd verse sounds good, too, from (I assume) Mu-Mu, comin’ through wit some good shit you can feel in tha club, from a newbie! Cadillac’s on tha 3^rd verse, it sounds like, comin’ through like a pill-poppin’ animal!! Feelin’ his big body-type shit; hope I hang wit him one day, without any bad people around!! My Rating: 4.7

Whateva; at least it sounds good wit Locco on tha hook! Great voice; stay motivated!! You’re on tha 1^st verse, comin’ through wit a motivated mindset; keep it up!! Tha 1^st verse sounds good from you; sounds like you’re rappin’ shit with a lil’ more meaning. I’ll laugh/shake my head if you mention somethin’ money on a track like this… Tha 2^nd verse sounds nice, too; this ain’t too bad of a song, overall… Ahh @ 3:04 “money!” My Rating: 3.9

Overall: An hour-and-a-half later, I completed this review. Well, I have to say that this iz near-classic material for me! Every song went hard as fuck, but two!! Tha two that didn’t were real shitty—not even okay!! Next time you even think about puttin’ music onto a CD, don’t eva think of puttin’ an a-tune on it!! I was lookin’ at one of my old video tapes and I said that I wanted a-tune to end after 2008; I was only 20, at tha time!! Either way, definitely tha hottest shit I’ve heard come outta dat Plaquemine; keep up tha great work and keep stayin’ rare!!! You don’t need anymore new music for another two years; this iz good and valuable enough!!

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already.
